Satellite P300 Bios blocks

Hello

I have a satellite P300 laptop with vista installed on it. I wanted to install XP PRO, looked for driver, was no prob.
Got the blue screen when starting form the XP cd installation, it was due to lack of AHCI drivers for the hard disk.
So, I accessed the BIOS and changed the SATA compatibility mode... (later, I discovered that it was suggested on many forums).
But when I restart only get to see the BIOS POST in the screen saying press F2 to F12 for devices of multiple starts Setup (BIOS) or options (something like that).

Pressing F2 does not work. BIOS hangs...

So the problem is: SATA operation mode changed compatibility mode, I need to go back to AHCI, but I can no longer access the BIOS.
I tried to remove the HD, but no help.

Can I reset the BIOS settings by default the CMOS jumper or so?

Thanks in advance...

Friend!

> Can reset the BIOS settings by default the CMOS jumper or so?
No, this can be done by a common user. Laptop motherboards are all just different like the mothers of PC desktop and only the authorized technician Toshiba could it the default Flash the BIOS again or by using the jumper (if such jumper would be available).

But you should try to remove the battery (laptops) and need to disconnect the adapter from the unit.
Wait a little (1 hour), then reconnect the two parts.
Then try to access BIOS and turn on the laptop

    Hey Buddy,

This stop code means you use a bad SATA controller driver. The installation of XP, to integrate the SATA driver for install XP. There is a lot of discussion on this issue here in the forum.

For Intel chipset, you will need to download Intel Storage Manager of Toshiba's official site and follow the instructions here to reinstall Windows with the SATA drivers:
    http://APS2.toshiba-tro.de/KB0/TSB85017Z0000R01.htm

Solution replacement follow the instructions posted by peterk_1. Setting IDE mode instead of AHCI in the BIOS will help too :)

  • Satellite P300 PSPC4A - BIOS no updates required for Win 7?

    I have a Satellite P300 (PSPC4A-03P01P)
Currently 2 hard drives, both are partitioned.
    Disc 1 - C and D
    Disc 2 - F and G
Current operating system on the C drive is OEM Vista 32-bit HP
    BIOS version is V4.20. 05/01/09

I want to upgrade the Win - 7 HP 64-bit operating system
I know that this will require a format the C partition.

In preparation, I downloaded all the drivers for Win 7 64 bit

    My Questions:

The BIOS will require the update to support 64-bit?

If partitions D, F and G are left intact, Win-7 64-bit on the C drive will be able to read?
Or these partitions will also require formatting?

    Thanks for any help

    Hello

There is no relationship between the BIOS and the operating system. Thus, you need not upgrade Bios for Win 64 bit.

    > If partitions D, F and G are left intact, Win-7 64-bit on the C drive will be able to read?
    > Or those partitions will also require formatting?

You can install the Os on C: and it will be able to read information on other partitions too.

You want to reinstall the OS and want to set the laptop to factory settings?

If Yes, then try to boot from the DVD of recovery (if created).
If you have n t try a recovery DVDs start the installation from the HARD disk.
The new laptops HARD drive recovery and you should be able to reinstall the OS by pressing the F8 key-> choosing fix my computer-> Toshiba Recovery

This should launch the installation of the HARD disk

I see in Process Explorer these spikes are caused by the system and that usually means drivers.
Anyone else noticed something similar since the last update?

I think that you should use the most recent version and it s a v4.83.1.0. It seems that the v4.36.10.0 was published also, but in this case, it s always recommended to take a newer version.

With regard to the system of freezing for a second or two:
I think that this might be related to some background processes. Perhaps a process that runs in the context of the Vista operating system causes this tiny interruptions.

Of my knowledge tool Tempro runs in the background and scans the system and HARD drive.
You can check the processes in MSCONFIG and if necessary may disable some of the trials.

  • Satellite P300 - ODD not recognisd in BIOS

I have the Satellite P300 (pspcha 03n017) with DVD multi drive but I can't 'see' the DVD in BIOS.
I reinstalled the BIOS from here, but it's still not there blinking at startup but...

    Can anyone help?

    Hello

Can you please elaborate on this subject?
Maybe exchanged for optical disc with a new drive?
How did you notice this problem? Have you noticed that the disc is missing in Windows Explorer and Device Manager first?

If the drive is not detected by the BIOS there are certainly a hardware problem.

  • Satellite P300 (PSPC4E) - BIOS is damaged

I have some problems with my Toshiba Satellite P300 (PSPC4E).
The BIOS is damaged and I am trying to get it back.

I disconnected the battery, HDD and DVD.

I managed to create a USB startup disk using the USB HP and CrisDisk.
It was empty after I run it. I copied the three files into it, PHLASH16. EXE, Autoexec.bat and my laptops bios, named bios.wph (version 4.20).
CrisDisk using the required files are transferred automatically.
I tried plant key combinations, following the instructions of starting (USB->-> start button / stop power cord), such as the FN/WIN + B / F, FN/WIN + ESC.

When I boot with FN/WIN + B / F, it starts only upward 'normally', all the lights on and the screen remains black. USB is not flash or anything.
Using FN + ESC is another story, well that without LEDs light up, except for the power button.
The USB flashes, for a few seconds, and shortly after, the laptop starts to beep.
When I say beep, it really will beep, loud and clear that h * l! 1 long beep 2 short beeps, who will be permanently.

I left it for about 10-15 minutes, but nothing happened. The tones were really strong, so I stopped it.
I tried to make the combination of keys without connecting to USB, and it did the same thing, 1 long + 2 beeps.

So, I'm doing something wrong here?
Also, I wonder if it is possible to reduce the volume of the beeps.

Would be really grateful for any help I can get.

  • Password required to start my Satellite P300

I have a Satellite P300 and when I turn it on it just came with a box saying the password.

    Help, please.

Unfortunately, we don t know anything about your laptop.
Do you have BIOS password or you have bought already used and blocked for laptop?

In any case what you are missing is BIOS password. This is the security feature and you can't do anything. It should be removed by the Toshiba service provider.

  • Cannot start from the CD in my Satellite P300-23F

    Hello

I'm trying to fix the old laptop from my brother. It's a Toshiba satellite p300-23f. The laptop did not work well, so he bought another. I think he might have a problem with the HARD drive, but I'm not sure about this and want to try to format the HARD drive and reinstall the operating system.

When I start from the disc HARD I have no problem, insiders of OS normally, and I can 'use' laptop. The problem is when I try to boot from the OS CD. I get this message "Media test failure, check cable". I know the CD works, because recently I have instaled the operating system with this CD on another computer. I know that the CD player (not sure if it is called like this, but I think you understand what I mean) also works very well, because I tried different CD and it worked.

I've tried pressing F12 and boot from CD it and also tried to change the BIOS and put the CD in the first place, but it does not work.

No idea what's going on? Is it possible to make it work?

    Stand by.
When Windows is completely loaded, you can use the optical disk drive and it reads all CDs and DVDs?
When you put your Windows Windows installation disc can see the contents of the disc in Windows Explorer?

Maybe you can use the CD but not DVD. check it out please.

  • Satellite P300 with XP hangs at the screen "starting windows."

I recently bought the Satellite P300 - 01 and had XP installed on it. I have fixed all the problems except for the question, that I'm going to start.

When I turn on the laptop it loads everything flashes on the login screen and then hangs at 'starting windows' screen If I turn it off and then again about three times this issue finally arrives with the login screen. There was an ASP.NET account, and after the BIOS update that he disappeared, but the problem is still there? Any comments would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you

    > There was an ASP.NET account, and he disappeared after the update of the BIOS
The whole story is really strange

I put t know how you installed XP on this laptop and why an ASP.NET account was created or exist, but in your case I would recommend doing so again.
Then install all service packs, hotfixes and patches of the XP!

Simply show words on XP on P300.
A friend of mine has installed XP on a P300 yesterday too and the XP works well
    Everything works fine!
