Satellite Pro 6100: disk not recognized HARD - error IDE #0

I just replaced a failed HARD drive from MK4019GAX in my 6100 Pro of the Satellite with a MK4026GAX and have tried to install XP Home. I can't recognize the hard drive of the computer.

When I boot, I get a message ERROR IDE #0 before installing Windows, then a message saying that all third party SCSI drivers should be installed first. (I'm starting with the Windows disk in the drive) then when it is at the end of the installation process a message saying that "put in place did not any hard drives installed in your computer.

If I boot without the Windows I'm getting PXE - E61 Media test failure.

When I go into the BIOS ACPI BIOS version 1.90, under devices "Mode HDD = used (s) ' I can't get in to change and there is nowhere else that seems related to the hard drive (apart from the boot priority section).

I read on a forum somewhere that there could be problems getting the BIOS to recognize a new HARD drive.

It is a common problem for this model, or is the new hard drive may be defective?
Is there a workaround or a solution?

If all requested assistance right.

DM

Hello

This error message indicates that the HARD disk drive was not properly acknowledged. The fact is that this unit uses a regular IDE (ATA-5) interface and the new HARD drive is supported by this interface.
In this case, I assume that the HARD drive has not been installed correctly. Try to remove the HARD drive and check the connections.
The other possibility is that the HARD disk controller is dead.
In this case, the service partner must check the laptop.

    Hello

How do you know what the flashing of led said you? You are a sort of technician? How can you know that the "blink" (long, short) are 0 and 1.
Do you know how to assemble the circuit board and don't you know that the things you have take care? Who PCB´s that you have exchanged?
    You said:

    Hand and VGA

but the powerpcb too? And how do you know that the PCB´s are ok? Because why someone is selling you that with the 'work' of description?

  • Satellite Pro 6100 does not recognize the single battery external power

Whenever I have start Satellite Pro 6100 Win XP Pro with standard battery mounted and connected to the power supply computer laptop does not recognize the ext battery supply single supply and during 'start-up' goes into hibernation.

By pressing the power on button laptops "wake up" and indicate that the battery is empty or may not even decide when completely loaded, then says connect the station even if still connected, looking under Toshiba console when it runs shows running on battery when still in the power of the ext?

I have two batteries and both give the above symptoms even when I remove ext of laptop power always runs with power supply by battery but no light orange or green for battery.
    Any ideas?

    Hello

Is your AC adapter malfunctions or there is something wrong with the power supply to electronic s laptop.
In the first case you could purchase a new compatible AC adapter and could check if the laptop can run successfully.
The second possibility is a serious hardware problem, but in this case, the laptop must be checked by an authorized technician.

  • Satellite Pro 6100 does not start - power light flashes

    Hello

I have a Satellite Pro 6100 when I press the power button and HDD lights up briefly then powerlight blinks.
It seems to Flash a pattern: on (2 sec) flashes (2 seconds) then off (about 8 times)

What he told me? No fan, no display no hardrive is active.
Food is ok because it load battery.
I bought it as it would be something easy to fix ideas?

    Hello

    It sounds bad
Generally, the power led will blink due to a malfunction of the equipment.
The LED provides a microcode and only the technician can read this code.
A common user is not able to read.

Maybe you'll be able to read this code, but you won't find any description about the meaning of the code.
I recommend you contact the technician in your country

    But try this:
Remove the battery and unplug the AC adapter.
Wait severla times and then plug in the battery and plug in the AC adapter.
If this does not help, you have aks, a complementary technician...

  • Cannot install Win 8 - Satellite Pro C660 does not detect HARD drive

    Hello

My HARD drive died, so I decided to upgrade my Satellite Pro C660 - 1 9 to an SSD.
I made a USB bootable with Win8 and starts very well.

The problem is that it does not detect my SSD, so I can proceed with the installation.
SSD appears in BIOS but not in Windows Installer.
He said that there is a missing driver.

I downloaded the AHCI drivers (XP, only ones available) and even in this case, after you have selected the only rider that appears, it says no new device found.

I tried to change the SATA from AHCI mode to compatibility mode and it's the same thing...

    What can I do?

    Thanks for the help.
    Best regards
    Bruno Moreira

More old Windows XP need a driver AHCI Intel's but I think this isn't a problem with SATA driver missing because as far as I know Windows 8 as well as Win 8.1 already contains the drivers to recognize the SSD or HARD disk drive.
In addition, the installation of the OS should be possible even if the driver would be added for this procedure, you must use the "compatibility" mode
As you say, the compatibility mode is not working too, so I think there is another problem.

However, page driver Toshiba also provides a driver Intel RST (Intel Rapid Storage Technology) (Windows 8 - updated) you can try to add during the installation of the OS.

But I m wondering if you would be able to install this Win 8 on common SATA HDD.
Have you tried to format the SSD using a different computer, then install Win 8?
    Give it a try.

  • Satellite Pro 6100 does not start

    Hello

I have a pro 6100, and since 2 days I can not start my mobile:

When I push the button, the sector led is green, the start led is green and the HDD led is green... but nothing to start!
I remove the battery and I start just with the sector, but it's the same thing. I try to change the RAM, but it's always the same...

    could someone help me?

PS am french so I hope you'll excuse my bad English ;)

    Hello

First, your English is fine. ;)
But now something about your question. It's not easy to say what the problem is.
There might be a hardware malfunction, maybe a HARD disk. But you should first try to retrieve the device with the Toshiba Recovery CD supplied. Try to boot from the drive.

  • Satellite Pro A10 does not start (HARD drive seems to be missing)

Hello, I hope someone can give me some advice on this problem: I have a 2 years Satellite Pro A10. Recently, it starts not at all and I noticed that if I look at directories on the C: drive using the command prompt, it said "file not found". Cannot start Windows at all, not even in Safe Mode.
Using the recovery disks is I help spread messages as no such fixed disc and 'Extraction impossible '.
is - that say I have:
    1 a hard drive damaged
    2. defective connections on the HARD drive? -If Yes, how I fix that?

the system didn't crash before it happened, she doesn't have to load up when I started it.
    Would appreciate any help.

    Thank you
    SCL

    Hello

Well, it could be a hardware malfunction of HARD drive. Yes, it is possible. But I don t think that there is a bad connection. You used this HARD over the last two years and you n t change the settings of connections on this HARD drive. Is this good?
If it possible s so I suggest you of to completely format the HARD drive.
Then try to start the recovery procedure.

However if the HARD drive has a functioning default (ie. crushing of the head), so the only way is to replace this device.

  • Satellite A10 - recovery disk not recognized

I want to format my hard drive and reinstall windows xp.

Of course, I have Toshiba A10 laptop with HDD 160g, 1 g of Ram, cd/dvd player and the restore disc (cd).

Problem: the restore disc is not recognized by the cd player. When I insert the disc, then again, boot sequence goes to hard drive and boots from there

    What I did:
    1. check if the reader sees another s cd. Answer Yes, Yes
2 boot sequence of the bios checked as well as toshiba consoles set up made sure it is
in "order"hdd, lan, floppy, cdrom", (I tried other combinations starting with cd as well).
    3. I cleaned the restore disc, didn't work
    4. I ordered another set of Toshiba restore disk, which did not work either, still not recognized
    5. I bought a cd/dvd external reader believe it or not, disc starts to work in this case, I get a warning screen shows all data will be lost and asks me to click if I want to continue, when I click it says will now restart the computer and it does but comes back and goes back on the hard drive and boots from there.

I must also add; When I switch on I get "' pxe e61 media test failure, mof outgoing intel boot agt" msg, according to my search, this problem indicates hard disk.
but my hard drive does not work,

Will someone give me an advice?

If the BIOS is set to boot from the local network first, before trying to boot from the HARD drive, you will see the error PXE.

Have you tried to clean the lens in the DVD player? Wipe with a Microfiber cloth.

try holding down "C" when you turn on the laptop, this will make it boot from the CD.

  • Satellite Pro A100 is not recognized any amount of RAM

    Hello

I have a Satellite Pro A100 and I just bought 1 GB of additional memory. There are two locations, each with a capacity of 1 GB.
When I put the new memory into the slot and the old 512 MB original memory in slot B and the computer says it is 1 GB.

I have them two-way round so that the 512 MB is has the 1 GB in B. Now the computer says that there is 512 MB.
Is there anything I can do to work B slot? I have the latest version of the BIOS update.

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello

    > original 512K of Ram also works in A slot, but not in the housing B.
This looks like your slot B is defective, mate :(

I think that, in this case, you can't. You can swap the card mother but that s all.

  • New HDD on Satellite Pro L10 is not recognized correctly

    Hello

I changed my old hard drive (60 GB) with one of 160 GB, but my laptop does not recognize this size. It gives me only 127 GB. I updated my BIOS and update Windows XP SP3 home edition
I also tried with partition magic. The curious thing is that sometimes, it happens that partition magic sees the 160 GB, I can extend the size of 127 to 160 GB and I can create an additional partition (drive D) of say 40GB.

When I copy data from this partition I get an error and stops just my laptop.
After the restart, he says that he cannot find an operating system.

    Can someone help me please?
    Thank you

    Hello

I'm afraid there is not much to do. Entire HARD disk capacity knows correctly or you must accept that the BIOS can't handle with this HARD drive. This model of laptop is almost 4 years and I can imagine that there is a limitation in the BIOS.

Maybe you should be happy with 120 GB of HARD drive. And the 160 GB one, you can use as external HARD drive.

One more thing: have you noticed any functionality problems after installing SP3?

  • Satellite Pro M70 does not see HARD drive sometimes

    Help me!

My computer does not see my hard drive but see Installer and another computer.
My hard drive is working and I put the new drive hard but computer does not see.
And when I install XP on the computer I can see HDD format during the installation.
And when prawns my computer I do not see the HARD disk again.

    Help me please

    Hello

I think that it s a HDD issue naturally it s really strange that the HARD drive is different sometimes and sometimes it s is not visible, but I doubt that it could be software related issue. That's why I think that it s a drive HARD and in my opinion, you should check if other HDD SATA runs correctly.

    Good bye

  • Satellite Pro 6100 - does not start and displays a diagnostic code

The 6100 Pro Satellite has stopped working after sitting for two weeks off fresh. A new battery did nothing.

The usually lights green when the charge now turns orange, but does it also with 4 consecutive games of a long and a blinking short, followed by a pause, followed by another series of flashes, continuously.

Where can I find what this diagnostic code (I guess)?

    Hello!

I think that these diagnostic codes that you can find in the manual technique, but this is only available for authorized service providers.

But you can start the laptop without battery and AC/DC adapter only?
Maybe you should try to remove the adaptor AC/DC and battery. Wait one hour, then reconnect the two devices. Now, try to start the laptop.

If it doesn't work I suggest that you should ask a technician for help laptop. It seems to be a hardware malfunction

    Good bye

  • Satellite 5005 - recovery disk not recognized

I'm trying files my satellite 5005-S504 but when I put the original disc, one in the computer does not recognize say 5005 series disc and is not compatible with this PC.

    Help, please!

Can you tell us more about your laptop?
Is this laptop your day or you have bought used?
East - the first time that you use the recovery disk?
    Maybe is exchanged mainboard?

In any case, visit Toshiba US page under http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/su/su_sc_modSel.jsp for assistance

There you can find description and DMI tool how to use it. After using this tool, the motherboard will have good information. Before the start of the recovery procedure this information is compared with the information stored on the recovery image. If these two pieces of information are the same, you will be able to install the recovery image.

  • Toshiba Satellite Pro 6100 does not start

    Hello
I used a Toshiba SP 6100 until a few weeks ago because it started to act weird. It would not start at all, I called an authorized service center but they wanted me to pay 900 euro for a new motherboard, so I bought one off ebay ;-)
with the first motherboard (the original one it came with) the DC leads IN was and recharging the battery but it wouldn't let me turn it on.
With the second card of mother seeing him IN DC was on and battery LED was blinking pretty fast (then I was confused).
Now I have two all lower parts (each with GF4 GB and P4m 1, 6 GHz) that doesn't quite work.
Do you have the solutions for this?
If so I'd be happy :)

    Daniel

    Hi Daniel,.

Your description of the problem in your original motherboard certainly indicates a card failure. What worries me a bit is at the origin of the new motherboard.

Your new motherboard will also include the CMOS chip that will contain your BIOS. I can only assume that the new Board of Directors contains a default BIOS rather than a suited to your Toshiba laptop. An Agent of Service Toshiba has special techniques for loading the BIOS OK to activate the new motherboard work.

You should check with the provider of your new Council what BIOS if one is loaded.
