Satellite Pro A100 screen goes blank for two seconds

Since I got my machine in June, it has obscured the screen for a few seconds every now and then - probably once or twice a day.

Is this serious and likely to get worse - should I send it until the warranty runs out?

It might have something to do with Flashcards. I don't know what it is, but whenever I start, he refuses to quit smoking.

Thanks for your suggestions.

Hello

> Is it serious and likely to get worse - should I send it until the warranty runs out
I think that it s not easy to say if it could be a serious hardware problem or just a driver issue.

I have a few questions;
First of all; have you checked whether a BIOS update or update the graphics driver was help? For the most part, these updates do wonders ;)

How about new installation OS since the recovery CD? Have you checked if the same problem appears on the new OS installed since the recovery CD?

I think that this should be checked first.

  • Satellite C660-1J2 - the screen goes black for a second

    Hey everybody.

I recently changed my HARD drive and did a reinstall fresh, as previous was damaged. What is happening now is that whenever I have connect or disconnect the cable the screen goes black for a second. There is no real consequence of this, I'd rather just if there was an option to make it happen.

Then, give a shout someone if you know how to deal with this.

    Hello

    > I have recently changed my HARD drive and did a reinstall of fees
You have installed Windows from Toshiba normal Microsoft Windows disk or recovery disk?

To me it sounds like that, you forgot to install the display driver. Also check the Manager of devices for the yellow exclamation points or unknown devices.
Make sure that correct display driver is installed. You can download the latest version of Toshiba's official website:

  • Satellite Pro S300 - screen is blank and can not restart

A week ago, I left my Satellite Pro S300-EZ2502 at night (as usual). It was fine tonight.

The next day, I got a black screen and a flashing light orange on the left side. I tried to turn it off, don't restart, no dice. I tried removing the battery and restart under just current alternative, nothing, I tried the opposite. Nothing. I tried to let the battery and then recharge. No help. Very rarely when I plug it in again, I will get the green light for a few seconds, but then again the yellow flashing light. Nothing EVER on the screen.

I've only had this laptop since MAY! What's wrong!!

Have you installed extra RAM in the system?

Try to remove one of the Modules or swap them around.

Otherwise, it may be a motherboard problem. An FSL can repair it for you - free if its under warranty.

  • Satellite Pro M70 - screen is blank

    Hey guys,.

Have had my Satellite Pro M70 for more than a year now and never gave me any problems before. On about 3 times now, the screen disappeared all of a sudden completely gray and white and stays that way, unless I restart and is so very well.

Appears to be spontaneous, can't everyday and not even aware if his reason leaving for a long time.

Ive noticed that more than half of the screen flashes from time to time but don't know if it's because it's on during a long period or heat related but only started to do this recently.

It just seems to be a problem with the monitor, like running programs under were unaffected (IE if I was running MSN messenger and the screen went gray, I could still type messages, etc just not see them!).

Have the latest graphics driver for my Intel knowledge: 6.14.10.4363, don't know if it could be a problem with the card? Hepatitis a lot of free hard disk space, seeking to increase the ram (currently 512) suggestions?

    Hello

I am very happy that I don't have these problems on my Satellite M70. I recommend you test your laptop connected to an external display to see if the symptoms are the same. If so, I fear that there is a problem with the graphics card.

On the RAM, can I just say that your laptop can handle with max 2 GB RAM and compatible RAM modules are:
    512 MB (PA3412U - 1 M 51)
    1 GB (PA3411U-1M1G)

    Hello

The update of the graphics driver is not bad idea but Stefan, how should Christian update the graphics driver if it s not able turn on the laptop?

I suggest putting the laptop turned off (press the power button for about 4 seconds) and unplug the AC adapter and remove the battery for a while.
After several time (10-30 min), you can try to put the battery in the laptop and connect the power adapter. Then try to start the laptop.
If it helps, then you could try updating the graphics card driver.

In addition if the new BIOS version is available if you could also update it. But don't forget to use the good BIOS and the correct procedure for updating the BIOS.

    Good luck Christian

    Good bye

  • Re: Satellite L300-1FK - screen goes blank

Screen flickered then erased, and whenever I try to start up it turns off again.
    Any suggestions?

Can you offer more details please?
Is this general problem the moment where you turn on your laptop or just loading Windows OS?
When enter you the BIOS and leave it for a while is again the flicker?
What is safe mode? The same problem again?

If possible try to connect your laptop to external monitor and check how it works.

  • Satellite Pro P100 - screen is blank

Computer seems to be on, but the laptop screen remains empty.

OK so for the moment, the power light is on and HD and the rear fan is not on and when I press the power button, the HD and the rear fan turns on and then the power light just flashes but nothing is on the screen and the lights (capslock/numlock etc.) keyboard flash not as they would on a start upward. Which leads to presume that the laptop is in hibernation or something, but it should come out of hibernation (if that were the case) on a press on the power button, but nothing happens when I do that.

also connected an external monitor to the back of the laptop, nothing on the screen as well.

    any ideas?

    Hello

HM, it could be a problem of motherboard or something else. I doubt that it s an inside problem appears because tested an external display and here you can see the same problem.

What you can do is the following workaround: remove the battery and the AC adapter and wait an hour. Reconnect the adapter AC/DC and battery. Now, you can try to restart the laptop.

If it doesn t work I would ask for a portable computer technician of an authorized service provider. Maybe it s a hardware malfunction and the ASP can test your laptop.

    Good bye

  • Need best driver of ATI X 1600 for Satellite Pro A100-830

    Hey

I use my Satellite Pro A100-830 (PSAACE-00W002EN) for the most part to play my games, but unfortunately I can't. It seems that Toshiba doesn't provide good enough graph-drivers because every time I play, for example: half-life 2, I get this error specefied: internal driver error in IDirect3ddevice9::present()

I tried to reinstall my computer all with CD distribution which followed with my PC, but this work of t is not a long time. I also tried to download than the latest ATI drivers, but they can not be installed, nor OmegaDrivers (Installable but didn t work).
I use Windows XP and I have all the updates of 'Windows Update'...
Just when I reinstalled my computer, I downloaded all Windows, then the most recent BIOS updates, and after that, I deleted the ATI driver that was limited to the CD and installed the ATI driver 'later' of Toshibas own homepage.
(Not only Steam-games doesn t work, almost none of my games...)

Please help me on these "desperate times." Would be happy if you could write the answer directly to my email address:

    Hello

To be honest, you are not alone in this and many laptop users want to have better performance and play the latest games which can be played with the latest and newest materials. If you have a portable way but want to have maximum on graphics performance.

Sorry but I think you wait a little too long. We are talking not on desktop computers and notebooks. As a player, you understand without doubt that high-performance graphic has a result a lot of heat, and it can be very dangerous for the portable equipment (placed on the square). Using the most recent and better display drivers will require you probably to a graphics card to work under pressure but the result may be overheating or even damage the material.

Be reasonable and understand that laptops have lower graphics performance and laptop manufacturer has only one priority: to protect the equipment. Because of this there not much updated graphics card drivers.

I don't really know what games you try to play, but I tested my old M70 (also ATI) graphics card with several games (not later) and it runs good.

    Bye and good luck!

    Hi AL Karaoke ;)

For me it s a clear case. Programs crashed due to high temperature.

    > I AM DOING A DJ SET AT THE PUB OR CLUB.

I suppose that the temperature of the environment is a little higher in the pub or club. In addition, I think that the laptop can not cool properly due to the circulation of air.
I m sure that the laptop is running properly without any crashes if you are going to use it as a common user. Do not forget that there is enough free space around the laptop for a circulation and cooling properly

  • Coke spilled on Satellite Pro A100 - black screen & flashing light

    Hello

I have a Toshiba laptop Satellite Pro A100, and this morning my daughter spilled coke top.
It was not much and it only seems to be on the top of the screen (as the laptop was closed)

However it was a bit on the keyboard and when I opened it it seemed to be a crackling sound from speakers?
I turned off and unplugged the power outlet and it was built next to the radiator for the last 4 hours,
I tried it again now and it started, there were still crackling and then the screen went black, but the 'on' will Flash blue, the capslock flashes as are the other two on the keyboard.

Is it buggered or is there anything i can do to fix it?

    Any help would be apprciated.

    Hello

My laptop couldn't t start because my girlfriend accidentally spilled water on the keyboard.
The laptop turns off and I was not in a position of power upward again.
Whenever LED books went ON and after a few seconds the laptop stop again.

I thought that the motherboard was dead, but I tried to replace the memory modules first and bingo!
One of the modules has been defective.

I replaced it and the laptop turned on properly.

  • Solution for DVD playback choppy on Satellite Pro A100

    Hello!

I had this problem twice on my Toshiba laptop (Satellite Pro A100 bought in April 2006): the DVD used to play very well, but now (perhaps after an update of the driver or installation of software, I not sure what causes this) DVD playback is choppy, distorted sound. This occurs throughout all media players on Windows XP (for example, PowerDVD which came with the laptop) or Windows media player.

I searched the internet far from a solution and finally found how to solve this problem:

Go to Device Manager, select the "IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers" section, and then select the "second IDE channel", right click and 'uninstall '. (There are two second IDE channels, if you know which then just uninstall both.) Restart Windows XP, Windows XP will automatically reinstall the drivers without the need to download anything. Subsequently the DVD Player reads normally.

The symptoms of the problem, apart from DVD playback choppy, are the "transfer mode" gets stuck on PIO for a reason, and bring back to DMA with no opportunity to spend. I have no idea what software or driver causes this, or why, but if this is your problem too, if you think that this solves.

Cool, thanks for the inquiry and the nice information.
Could be useful to others here in the forum.
Nice to have these community users :)

  • Where did my WLan connection part for Satellite Pro A100

    Hi all

I recently reinstalled xp on my Satellite Pro A100 and I can not get the wireless connection works.
He worked prior to re - install. I downloaded a bunch of driver but cannot make it work.

    any suggestions?

    THX
    Tim

    Hello

First you should check if the WiFi network card status in Device Manager.
You can see a Wlan card?

If you n t see the Wlan card listed in the network adapters, it would mean the failure of the driver installation WiFi card or you have used is not compatible Wlan driver!

I m not to mention of course that you have the card Wlan but there are only two options; It s Atheros or Intel.

I recommend you to visit the European driver Toshiba page and download the latest Wlan driver for this device.

  • Satellite Pro A100 - where can I find the driver for ethernet controller?

I recently changed my OS from Vista to XP and I'm not able to find a driver for the ethernet controller in my Satellite Pro A100 PSAAPE.

Anyone know where I can get this driver from?

    Thank you!

    > I had already checked and cannot see the pilot
I don't believe that. I checked the Toshiba download page, and you can see two LAN drivers for your model laptop.
Install the latest version 9.2.24 and I think everything will be OK.
