Satellite Pro A300 stops

Hello.

I've had my laptop A300 - 1 l 4 5 years, product maintenance on this matter on several occasions and I am puzzled.

What happens is that it started randomly closing several times a few weeks ago. It was not so boring then because after the 3rd try, I could actually use the laptop for hours.

The problem got worse, however. He began to stop more often until it just ceased to be usable at all. Windows loads, but it could freeze or just stopped a few minutes after starting.

Naturally, my first thought was energy or HARD drive, so I tried to leave under BIOS for hours to see if it would be closed down (it didn't) and remove the battery, using the cable and so on. It is not energy. At out the HARD drive and diagnosed. Works perfectly.

Another strange thing, it is not always read DVDs. BIOS recognizes the drive, but it does not start a DVD.

I tried to boot from a bootable exHDD, and it does not start. Unfortunately, whenever I try to install, I never do, because it stops a few minutes in.

In addition, it cannot be warmed up. Cleaned, thermal paste applied but the problem persists, and it is not overheating.

Another strange thing is that it took much less time for the laptop at the stop so that the two cores of the processor were active, it took after that I turned off the multicore processing.

Now, I'm asking here because I ran out of options. It seems to me, as a technician, it is the motherboard, but I wanted more input on the likely causes of GLSL.

Thank you and sorry for my bad English.

On this virtual path, it is not easy to say what the problem is. as I see that you are a technician and you know what you're doing.

My first thought was overheating, but I can read you have already activated this option.
What you can try is to follow: start your laptop computer and enter the BIOS settings. Leave it on this scene. It will be interesting if the laptop turns off again.

What laptop turn off what happens with DC-in, power and LEDs of the battery? Have you noticed a power cut?

    Hello

Not quite sure, why some of your FN buttons stopped working, but the fact is that utility support memory card Flash controls the FN keys and you should try to restart Flash cards first.

Select all programs-> Toshiba-> Flash cards, and then restart the tool.

Also go to Control Panel - tools and performance Information - adjust Visual effects

Here the function "Use Visual styles on windows and buttons" option on the bottom must be enabled to allow the Flashcards software work

  • Satellite Pro A300 - overheating

    Hello

It's been a year and a half I got my Satellite Pro A300. A week ago, it started overheating very badly. Low CPU usage, it maintains its normal temperature of 55 - 60 c (given the weather was hot).
However, if I try to do something heavy CPU, lets the temperature of 100 ° C in a few minutes and the laptop stops. The fan works, except that it does not seem to generate as usual, as a powerful airflow which made me think it was clogged. I disassembled the laptop, but I couldn't get to the cooling unit because of three cables from the motherboard to the plastic shell, who of the White T, shaped connectors for the life of me I couldn't get out, even a little bit. I cleaned up what I could with compressed air and a little dust was allowed, however, the fan/radiator wasn't blocked at all.

After put back together there no significant difference.
I am sure that it is a new phenomenon that I did turn the machine much warmer weather in the worst conditions with loads CPU near 100% without any problems. I checked all the settings, just in case something has mitigated the fan, but the public electricity of standby service is set to "Maximum Performance".

I appreciate the ideas and help, even a few tips on how to disconnect the cables from the motherboard.
    Thanks in advance.

I imagine that there is a lot of dust inside and maybe is time for professional cleaning. You can contact the nearest Toshiba service provider and ask for help. The guy he takes apart the whole notebook and remove all dust placed between the vents.

In any case, try to use your laptop with power management balanced which will reduce the performance of the processor, but your laptop will have enough power for normal operations.

In General, I think that your laptop must be properly cleaned.

I have a Toshiba Satellite Pro A300-guest 1GT. The problem is that the camera does not work. When I run the software, he writes that I have to restart camera or computer. I have Windows 7 and I have serched internet solutions but I find just a discusions with the same problem without solutions.

    Sory for bad English may.

    Hello

Have you tried reinstalling the driver for the webcam? You can download it from the official website of Toshiba:
    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp

Before installation: remove the driver current webcam and restart your computer. Try a registry cleaner like Ccleaner, then stop and try again. Now, you can install the latest driver for the webcam.

    I hope it works! :)

  • Satellite Pro A300 - nasal sound if the WIFI is enabled

School, I work has recently bought some A300s, but when they turn them on, all sounds are stuttering.

This is the jingle of Windows startup, the CD and DVD, and programs installed on the computer laptop itself. The only way I can stop the sound problems is by disabling the wireless lan. I tried to uninstall and reinstall, update the driver, replace the driver, but all without success. The school network is wireless so disable the wireless LAN cards long isn't really an option.

    Anyone got any ideas?

    Hey xarkaltos,

It would be interesting to know what OS you are using. I have too many Satellite Pro A300 and I can t t notice nasal sound if the WIFI is enabled. My A300 works pretty well and doesn't make strange sounds.

Maybe you have installed another OS, if you restore the OS from Toshiba by using the recovery disc or HARD drive recovery option.
Otherwise, follow the instructions posted by Al - eX.

Ideas to solve the problem will be highly appreciated!

    Hello

Normally, it should be possible access the BIOS, if you press F2, once you have turned on the laptop. Please check again and load the default settings there.
And you cannot access the BIOS if you shut down the computer.

You can use an external mouse on the laptop? Please check this too.

I've also updated the BIOS on my Satellite A300 but I n t have a problem with the touchpad after the update.

  • Satellite Pro A300 crashes with white screen

I have a Satellite Pro A300, AMD processor, Vista, ATI graphics card.

The system worked fine for a year, but there are a few months, he started crashing, the screen went white, not blue, whatever it be running, like music, stopped. This can occur after several hours or minutes, or even if he is re-start. All my software is up-to-date, Microsoft and Toshiba. I rebuilt my system from scratch and the symptoms came back.

At first I thought that this could be a heat problem, but I followed this but I don't think that's it. It crashed seconds after leaving standby mode when it has not had a chance to warm up.

    Anyone have any ideas?

    Simon

    Hey Buddy,

Theoretically, it might be an overheating problem so the screen became due white built in overheating protection...

You should try to clean your laptop using a jet of compressed air. This could blow the dust of fans cooling and, therefore, it of not necessary to disassemble the laptop.

  • Satellite Pro A300 do not close

Sometimes when I press shut down on my laptop Satellite Pro A300-1 was 8, he spent ages on vista blue screen "Stop" and never really stops.
So I have to hold the stop button to turn it off. Is this a known problem, or any way to solve?

I'm updating in Windows Update for Vista, so don't know what the problem is.

It could be a bad driver or application.

For example, your Virus scanner might be looking for a floppy drive, when there is no joint.

Or it could be a bad mouse/scanner/printer driver.

Before you stop, close all the programs that are in the system tray.
Uninstall all the drivers you have installed recently.
Use Run-> msconfig to disable suspected programs and services at startup

  • Cooling fan does not work on Satellite Pro A300

    Hello world

I was asked by a friend to repair their Satellite Pro A300, because their CPU cooling fan had stopped working even during the start of the POST and the laptop could overheat and shutdown. So I thought it might one of three things:
    # Fan is obstructed by dust or dirt
    # Rolling fan failed
    # Fan power cable was loose

So I disassembled the laptop and cleaned the fan/radiator with compressed air and check the connection of the supply, which was solid, but this does not solve the problem, so I replaced the fan and the heatsink with another that I knew worked from the same model laptop that had a motherboard fault due to the bug of password to start random bios (out of warranty) but still no joy.

I'm starting to believe that the fan was perfectly fine rather motherboards temperature of the processor or the sensors that control the activation of the fan has failed.
Am I correct in thinking that it is essentially, irreparable without specialized tools and my friend will be content themselves to turn the system off each hourish or is there something else I forget?

    Thanks for any help.

    Hello

I m not a technician, but for me, looks like the fan connector is working properly if you already replaced the fan and therefore, it would be necessary to replace the motherboard

That s all I can say about it having a look for second mainboard or laptop where you can get a motherboard cheap. Maybe it works. :)

1 there was that when the shutdown command is given, the laptop will sometimes reboot mode and login screen appears after reboot.
    2. when the sleep mode command is given, sometimes it does go into sleep mode, but will rather to logoff mode and login screen appears.

Why the laptop is not running correctly orders related to sleep, stopping and restarting.

I have not changed the settings of the power buttons.

    Hello

Your laptop factory settings or you have installed the own operating system?

How to give you these commands especially for the mode command 'sleep'?
In front of me, I have Satellite Pro A300 with original preinstalled Vista. Everything works fine.

Using FN + F3 for computer laptop mode switch to "standby".
FN + F4 using portable switch into hibernation mode.

I tested the options for the power button / stop and the cover too. No problem at all.

  • Behavior of cooling after only the BIOS Flash - Satellite Pro A300

    Hello everyone,

I have two laptop computers, Satellite Pro A300 Satellite A300. Both have the same configuration, C2D E8300 2 GB, ATI 3650 512 MB and so on...

Today I flashed BIOS to the latest version (from V3.90 to V4.20) on both of them. Version 3.90 cooling was OK, fan worked only when it was necessary. But now after that flashing the BIOS fan runs constantly, he does not stop.

What I did in Vista under Toshiba Power Saver Power Options, I changed the cooling method of maximum Performance to optimised battery, reverse cooling operation, but coverage (keyboard area) has become a bit warmer.

My question is, what is the problem with cooling in the new version (v4.20)? And how to fix this?
Yet once again, the problem did not exist before flashing the BIOS and the problem is on both computers.

Thank you very much for your help!

    Best regards
    Osman

    > What I did in Vista under Toshiba Power Saver Power Options, I changed the cooling method of maximum Performance to optimised battery, reverse cooling operation, but coverage (keyboard area) has become a bit warmer.

I doubt that there could be something wrong, I want to say that you said that after changing the method in cooling Toshiba Power Saver, the fans don't run all the time
Usually the cooling modules are controlled by energy savings and the BIOS contains only the table fan.

Keyboard of my laptop or on the left side of the laptop becomes too hot because on this side, you find the cooling modules that blow hot air

    Hello Raffaella

To be honest I don't understand what exactly you want. Help with what exactly?
There is mistake, but I hope that you can still use WXP.

I don't know what that means but if portable WXP supported is installed with Windows XP SP2/SP3 home edition and if all the stuff from Toshiba are installed in the order of good facilities all work OK.

I get the Windows XP Home edition recovery media with my Satellite A300 and WXP works perfectly. Another thing is updated Microsoft. It is well known that these updates can have a negative influence on already preinstalled Toshiba drivers and you can lose the functionality or the driver will stop working. So if you want to install Microsoft updates install some updates marked as important.

By the way: do you too use WXP recovery or your own installation of Microsoft?

One last thing: PCIIDE ATAPI belongs to integrated controller and control the readers. Your laptop HARD drive is drive SATA drive PCIIDE Standard cannot be dependent.

  • Satellite Pro A300-28V - cannot create own recovery disks

Have a portable Satellite Pro A300-28V with Vista Business 32. After a HARD disk recovery partition recovery, I decided to use the PC function full system backup to make a picture for later retrieval with all my current settings. Too inconvenient for factory reset default (Thunderbird 3.0 Mail, Open Office and some other small applications already running no problem for years on another computer in the office).

The system needs 5 to 9 DVD and he wrote the first DVD. Takes about 30 minutes. Then, during the audit of this disc, it crashes. Audit bar stops at about 30% complete.
Anyone with this experience? No, the company "Complete PC Image" works well on an OEM of Vista installation?
Or maybe it's the DVD player in need of an update? I do not use a 3rd party burning software.

    / Sweden

    Hello

What program you use to create your own recovery discs? For example, I mean Acronis, Norton Ghost, etc..

In your case I would try with another program like Nero or CD Burner XP burning.
In addition, you can try to remove upper and lower filters in the Windows registry, maybe that will work.

Finally, and especially on the Toshiba site, you can check if there is an update to the firmware of your CD/DVD drive.
