Satellite Pro L100 - no sound after reinstalling XP

Hello

I have a Satellite Pro L100 and I recently had to format the drive and install Windows XP.

I don't have the CD to restart that came with the computer.

I downloaded the drivers and utility on the toshiba site and checked that all were current and up to date.

After extracting the audio driver, run setup.exe the device driver installation wizard appears and tells me to some equipment for the driver to install for.
The problem is that there are absolutely no camera there.

I checked and the sound card is in there, then it should be there in this list.

Anyone have any ideas?

Hello

The downloaded audio driver package contains a fix of Microsoft KB888111XPSP.exe
You must install everything first before starting with the installation of the audio driver.

This is why I recommend to check device manager and remove the sound card and peripheral devices high definition audio.
Then restart the laptop, install the MS hotfix, restart the computer once more and then install the audio driver.

Good bye

    Hello

Just use the recovery disks on my Satellite Pro A10, no problem with the sound, and then upgraded to XP Home with SP2, no noise.

What I've read elsewhere, this is a problem and there seems to be an answer. I spent hours looking for drivers updated without success.

I have also contacted Toshiba support, after blow and blow that they reported the following driver, 5.12.01.3542, which is the same one that I have already installed and does not work.

Certainly there must be something out there that works.

Satellite P10 is old enough laptop model. I have very good experiences with P20. It's almost the same laptop, but a bit bigger. A friend of mine uses P10 for the job and we have installed WXP Pro using all the tricks of the Toshiba support page. The OS is installed two years ago, and the sound still works.

If you can not get this to work, I recommend you remove all the important data for the D partition or save on an external device and make the clean OS install. It will be interesting to see if the problem persists.

By the way: is a connected to your laptop satellite external game controller?
An interesting solution, I found here.

Have just downgraded from Vista to XP pro U400, downloaded all the drivers I could get on the Toshiba site but I still have PCI Device and unknown device drivers are not installed for.

Think it must have something to do with the sound when I tried to load sound divers, he came up with "cannot find media device" If don't have her no more, anyway don't know what to do next.

    Hello

This theme has been discussed here many times.
It s a general problem with Windows XP!
If you n t install the patches MS as KB888111, KB835221 and then you would not get the sound.

You must install these cites patched before install you the audio driver!

If the driver has been installed you must remove it first before the patches are installed.

PS: This MS patches are part of the SP3 too!

  • Lost sound on my Satellite Pro L100

I recently bought a 2nd hand Satellite Pro L100, but it's OS (XP Pro) is corrupted and does not recognize the capabilities of any sound card or sound on the motherboard.

I have found and tried a download from this site, but there is a missing or damaged file.

Also, I can't find out is what is the sound card, so I can download the drivers, or what specific files I need for XP communicate with any function of the motherboard! Argh!

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

    Hello

The sound card is integrated. This means that the sound chip is mounted on the motherboard.
I checked the driver Toshiba page and it seems that the audio drivers are designed for the Conexant audio chip.

Please check first which Satellite Pro L100 series you have; the Toshiba page provides drivers for PSLA4 and PSLA1 series. The correct number, which you will find at the bottom of the unit.

However I recommend to reinstall the OS from the Toshiba restore CD.
If you n t have this CD you can order the ASP in your country!

  • Satellite Pro L100 does not work after BIOS update

Okay, the computer is a Toshiba Satellite Pro L100 PSLA4. Problem occurred during an update of the BIOS on the official website of Toshiba. I downloaded the zip file, it extracts and activated the .exe file at the Interior.

The window opened by the .exe is a program flashing BIOS, the .exe wrote at the same time a new BIOS file to a temporary folder.
When he tried to use the program I got was an error saying it couldn't find the new BIOS to the entrance.

I tried again only to get the same error. Then I left the laptop for several minutes and when I got home, I found a laptop no longer Virgin.
On which I hear by an obvious lack of BIOS functions i.e. power LED does not change when the connection to disconnect it from the power outlet and the fact that I had to take out the battery to turn off the machine. When the power is turned on now it is check readers and restarts (no display, no beeps)

    What should I do?
The first thing that comes to mind was to reset the BIOS.
A problem, I can not find the RTC battery or a rider switch.

    Hi George

I can't tell why it happened, but I can tell what happened.

In my opinion, something went wrong during the process of updating the BIOS and the ROM modules was not writer properly.

Simply says the BIOS update procedure has failed.
In this case, you will need to contact the ASP in your country for a fix
The technician must be able to rewrite the ROM module and updated the BIOS again.

    Good luck buddy

    See you soon

  • After replacemant keyboard keys do not work on Satellite Pro L100

    Hello

I have problems replacing my laptop to a Toshiba Satellite Pro L100 keyboard. I adapted my laptop with a keyboard replacement brand new, it is detected by windows. But when I press any button, nothing happens.

It was the same problem with my previous keyboard. There is nothing broken inside the laptop or the clip that I can tell. But I can't understand why it does not work since I installed the keyboard properly.

My computer detects only external keyboards (when I connect it to a USB keyboard). I checked the BIOS and the keyboard is turned on.

Did someone knows what I could or should do? Please help me, thank you.

    Hello

Sorry, he says, but it's not easy to say why the keyboard does not especially the dysfunction of the keyboard is related to the hardware problem laptop

But I wonder why you did not contact the maintainer authorized Toshiba?
To my knowledge, the satellite Pro L100 is not an oldie and security must be still valid and each replacement repair or part of the laptop should be done for free.
Then why have you tried to replace the keyboard by yourself?

I recommend to ask the guy to service to help immediately

  • Satellite Pro L100 - DVD will not turn even upward

My friend gave me an old Satellite Pro L100 PSLA4E 005009EN to look at. He acknowledges not or read the DVD. I tried using multimedia Nero, Cyberlink and VLC players, but they can't watch a DVD. A CD will play without a problem, but a DVD will not yet run abreast.

When I look in my computer it says that a TSST Corp CD/DVD TS-L632M is installed, but when I look at the edge of the disc itself, it says DVD. R/RW with lightscribe? The software is also the original software yet.
Since the downloads for this model of Toshiba page, I see that the TSST DVD - RAM drive was equipped initially to the laptop so I'm assuming that a DVD - RW was equipped afterwards?

I find the hardware changes in device if Manager shows nothing. If I try to update the drivers found nothing? In desperation I tried to reinstall the drivers from the Toshiba site, but it does not help?
If this is the case why Windows XP does not recognize a DVD - RW?

If someone sees something I missed please?

    Hey,.

Different laptops come with a different material maybe if the laptop was supplied with this player, but in my opinion it of important either.

The fact is if DVD is not recognized it seems to be a hardware malfunction, but what you can do is cleaning the lens of the player with a Microfiber towel. Do it carefully you don't zero or destroy the lens (dust could be on the lens). After that he try again if it will recognize a DVD.

Otherwise, the disc must be replaced and contact an authorized service provider. Guys can order a compatible drive and replace it. :)

  • Re: Satellite Pro A200 - black screen after the BIOS screen

    Hello
I'm new to the forum and have a big problem. So, any help is welcome and appreciated.

My Satellite Pro A200 turns black after the BIOS screen and a black screen with a blinking cursor. Also just as the screen goes black a beep can be heard which shows windows boot.
I can access the toshiba Setup screen but not the installation of security mode.

    Kind regards

    Hello

You wrote that you can access the BIOS, but have you checked if the HARD drive is recognized properly? Perhaps because the computer cannot start HDD isn't recognized then you should check this.

If the HARD drive is recognized, I would try a Toshiba Recovery disk recovery facility. It seems that Windows isn't able to start and if you reinstall the whole system should help get rid me of this. Go to the start menu and select the CD/DVD drive as a boot device.

    Check this box!

  • Satellite Pro L100 important documents must be registered.

Basically, I have an old Satellite Pro L100 I used for College, I used it for many years and until recently, I noticed it turns slowly. I downloaded a few items that had some viruses. I downloaded a scanning program called Malware remover, it does the job. Then declared that the system must be restarted. I did this and now my machine won't even get to the starting windows screen. I get enough time to hit F10 or F12 to enter the boot settings and if I'm not I get a black screen.

I found my recovery disk, but before I run I'm worried that she'll take off everything on my system of valuable work College evaluated photos. So is there an option later in the menu?

Also, is there a REPAIR work anywhere where I can access that will be enabling wipe me to just save my valuable files and then comepletely my system. I know you can do it on some versions of window?

Any help would be massively appreciated.

    Rick

    Hello Rick

To start your computer in safe mode, try to please. Press F8 to start high and choose this option.
If you will be able to start Windows connect external USB key or HARD drive and move all the data from the external device.
After do this option to use system restore and try to roll back the BONES at that earlier time.

    Thank you for your time

I can't say for sure, but I assume that there is compatibility problem.
    Which Rams bought (specification/manufacturer)?

A lot of people buy cheap and some no.-name of modules and report on the same issue.
The Modules of RAM 'Value' use many chips cheap using several banks/channels, which can cause problems of compatibility with some Chipsets/CPUS.

Exact model laptop post and we can have information about 100% compatible modules for your laptop model.

    Hi csgwasteman,

I think Al - eX is right. This sounds like a broken LCD cable and it must be exchanged. But for other diagnostics, you can connect an external monitor. You may notice the same problem there? If this is not the case, replace the LCD cable.

  • Satellite Pro L100 132 broken badly - how to check?

Well, here you have it: I dropped to the bottom of my laptop on the floor cement, some three weeks after buying, but it still works! (It's a Satellite Pro L100 132) With technicians, we ordered the necessary parts: plastic covers around the screen and the keyboard.

No other problems are visible (I actually use the little guy at the present time, it behaves as usual), but you never know. So, my question: what are the problem areas that I need to check that everythings continues to work very well? And how can I archive them actually?

I have heard things on the HARD drive, but not in details. In fact it was the fault of all stupid of the bag, it slipped right on my shoulder.

    Confound it!

    Hello

It a shame to hear this.
But maybe you re a lucky guy and nothing was serious damage.
If the screen is working properly and that you are able to boot the operating system so I guess also the HARD drive was not damage and it works fine.

I would recommend to open Notepad or remove something if you have no experience. I think that technicians should check your laptop. But if everything works fine, so I think that there is no need to s.
    Take care ;)
