  • Satellite Pro L300 - sound is not working properly

    Hi all!

Last week, I bought my Toshiba Satellite Pro L300.
I have had no operating system with the laptop, but I had my own XP, so I changed the SATA drives in compatibility mode and installed windows XP Pro.
(By the way this is a Vista laptop officially)
I installed all the drivers, but I have a problem with the sound. It has a bad quality, but this isn't the biggest problem.
If I start listening to music, the sound stops every 3-4 seconds for a fraction of a second. It's as if the processor worked (like the computer was loading, and the processor is a bit overloaded) I usually have this experience if I run many programs simultaneously on my old computer, it slows down and the music stops for a second. But on the new laptop, I run winamp, I have dp nothing but listen to the music, and I get this problem.

Can anyone help? Is it because of XP? Or the driver does not work properly? Or I have a big problem and should go back to the store?
    Please write!

    Hello

Did you notice HARD drive activity when this happens?
Maybe some anti-virus works in the background.

Maybe you can order original Toshiba recovery DVD for your laptop model. Check it out under the https://backupmedia.toshiba.eu/landing.aspx

Using WXP only? I ask this question because I believe that you can only get to this Vista laptop.

  • Shortcut keyboard Toshiba Satellite Pro L300 - properties will not end

    Dear lovers of Toshiba:

This week, we have installed three new systems of Toshiba Satellite Pro L300 (two L300-153, a L300-156) with recovery media for Windows XP since the L300-156 product (no date on the disc, only two codes: CD 5 124624 and GMR400841EN0).

The machines are beautiful and very effective, except for one problem: when the logout or shutdown Windows XP, the program called 'The Toshiba keyboard shortcut properties' does not stop automatically and opens a dialog "end program". The user may terminate the program immediately by clicking on the button 'End now' or wait until it to expire, after which the system disconnects or terminate normally.

We noticed only after the installation of Service Pack 3 on all machines, so I don't know if the problem was present before SP3 has been applied. (We will be definitely check this on the following system and display the result.) Install the rest updates Windows with Service Pack 3 does not resolve the problem. Not more then that uninstall Toshiba Hotkey Utility by installing the package current, freshly downloaded from the Toshiba support area.

A colleague suggested disabling startup programs. There are two likely choices for this purpose in the startup list + of + msconfig +: * thotkey * and * TFncKy *. Disabling either of these programs allows the disappearance of problem, but the functions of the * Fn keys are lost. The key functions are also lost when uninstalling the Toshiba Hotkey Utility.

My question is of two parts:
    # Comment this problem be solved permanently, or circumvented (other than to say the customer never disconnect & close always the cover to hibernate)?
    # If there is no solution yet, how can a bug report situate with Toshiba, so I can get them the information they need to solve this problem and establish the responsibility?
I will continue to post new information here that I acquire until a permanent solution is reached.

Although this problem seems trivial and 'cosmetic' it's always awkward having to provide new machines customers with such an obvious flaw. It ourselves and Toshiba look bad, especially after that we sold the idea that people avoid problems of this kind to choose a Windows XP on Vista platform.

    Thank you, Robert Phair
    Director.

    > when the logout or shutdown Windows XP, the program called 'The Toshiba keyboard shortcut properties' does not stop automatically and opens a dialog "end program"...
    > We noticed only after the installation of Service Pack 3 on all machines, so I don't know if the problem was present before SP3 has been applied

Problems could be caused by Win XP SP3. I've read several times that SP3 could be not entirely compatible with drivers or 3rd tools
So I guess there is a problem of compatibility between the exe and SP3 files.
By the way; SP3 is not completely released and updated test!

I installed SP3 for some tests on my old non-Toshiba laptop and my work LAN card didn't so it of really possible that SP3 causes this.

    > There are two likely choices for this in the msconfig startup list: thotkey and TFncKy. Disabling either of these programs, the disappearance of the problem, but the functions of the Fn keys are lost

It is clear that the thotkey and TFncKy files belong to applications that control the FN keys, SO if you would disable this in msconfig then buttons would not work.

So, a solution might be a removal of SP3 System.
In addition, you should try to clean the registry and operating system using the free tool like CCleaner.

    > Hope to get a response from an engineer from Toshiba, if there is no monitoring of this forum.
I hope this too, but it seems that this forum is only a user forum.
So if you want to report this behavior for laptop, contact the Toshiba ASP in your country

    See you soon

  • Satellite Pro L300-1FN does not start - hang at the BIOS splash screen

My Satellite Pro L300-1FN refuses to start. When turned on the laptop displays the home screen toshiba/insyde H20 BIOS and the message "press F2 go to the Setup utility, F12 to go to the start menu" and flashes the light access to the hard drive, but don't try to continue loading. I left the bios at the start screen, but it doesn't do anything for long hours on a power supply or is running the battery flat while on battery.

Is there a way to re - put the BIOS on this unit? If it's a desktop unit I would remove the CMOS battery to force a reset of the BIOS but that's impossible on a laptop. The hard drive is fine because I have it plugged into another system to remove valuable data.

    Hello

What happens if you press F2 when starting the laptop to the top?
    You can access the BIOS?
If so, access the BIOS and set its default value. I think you need to press F9 or F10 to get default parameters, but this will be mentioned at the bottom of the page of the BIOS.

    Check it!

Why do you think Win XP does not work on satellite Pro L300?
Of course, you can install Win XP on this laptop.

I think that you didn't read all the threads here in the forum about this theme.
Am I wrong? I think you should take a little time and have read some threads here
It is really useful and could learn a little more about the installation of the OS.

PS: All the Win XP drivers are placed on the page of the European driver Toshiba ;)

  • Satellite Pro L300 1AD is unable to install the Windows XP display driver

I just installed XP on my Satellite pro because my internet modem doesn't work with Vista.

I went to the main site of Toshiba to install display drivers, but they moved it, it keeps bringing the message "this driver is not for this computer please contact manufacturer.

I put t understand why because all the other drivers that I downloaded on the same work, it's just the display one page. Does anyone know what's wrong?

You have downloaded the latest driver for Satellite Pro L300?
On the Toshiba site it s version 6.14.10.4953.

An alternative, you can try the drivers from Intel, but normally the Toshiba driver should work.
I always use the driver from Toshiba and never had any problems.

Furthermore, I looked on the Toshiba site:

  • Satellite Pro A300 PSAJ1E: Touchpad not recognized using Win XP SP2

    Hi all

I just got a Satellite Pro A300 PSAJ1E, which is preloaded with Vista. It is also comes with a 'product' XP SP2 recovery CD I had to use because of some software work with Vista compatibility issues.

Unfortunately, everything works well except the Touchpad, which is not recognized by XP at all (without entries, error or not, in the Device Manager).
The "Recovery" of XP CD installed the drivers of the Alps and the Toshiba Touchpad utility (for turning on and outside), so it seems that it is supposed to work.

It is activated in the BIOS (which I have also flashed to the latest version, just in case) and is enabled in the software. I also rebuilt the laptop using the "Recovery" CD (the touchpad is not also recognized by starting on the CD "Recovery" which I guess uses WinPE).

It does not work on Vista, so it shouldn't be a hardware problem.

    Someone at - it ideas?

    Thanks in advance.

    Andy

    Hey Buddy

Well in your case I would recommend going to the Device Manager and remove the touchpad in the list of devices.

Then visit the European driver Toshiba page, choose your model of laptop, Win XP OS and download the driver for the Alps Electric and Synaptics touchpad.

Install both drivers, reboot the laptop and check if your touchpad will work correctly.

    Good luck

  • Satellite Pro L300 (PSLB1A) touchpad and keyboard problems

One of my school L300 keyboard and touchpad stopped working after a months of normal use. It has been reported, and on the advice of our technician, I used the disc of the cure to reinstall everything back to the original state. However, this does not have the problem. Now, I need to go through the normal configuration screens and am required to enter a user name that I can't do! This means that I can not check the drivers etc. The keyboard works fine in the BIOS, but not once windows starts.

    Hello

Set the default BIOS settings and try again.
Starting installation of recovery can you use keyboard (arrows, ENTER) or mouse in the Toshiba Recovery menu?

  • Satellite Pro L300 - HDD is not detected

My Satellite L300 hanged while I used it. I tried to restart, it just wouldn't start. It shows this message on the screen "no bootable device-insert boot disk and press any key" tried, but it still does not work. Then I tried using the restore disc. It then displays a message on the scree that the hard drive is not mounted which means that it does not detect the presence of the HARD drive.

    What can I do?

    Hey,.

This looks like the HARD drive is not recognized, so your computer isn't able to boot and disk HARD recovery doesn't work correctly

I recommend you check the BIOS if the HARD drive is recognized correctly. Usually in the BIOS, you should see the correct HARD drive model number and it would mean recognized s. Otherwise, the HARD drive is faulty and must be replaced

  • Satellite Pro L300-21F does not start and the screen remains blank

L300-21F is aged 18 months, so out of warranty. When you press the power button, you can hear the fan and a "click" but the hard drive does not start and the screen remains blank. The power and the battery on the headlight LEDs, but the switch light does not work. I checked the power supply and it is 19.3V and substituted a good known. Removed the battery, tried with just the power cord and still nothing. Pressing ESC or F2 when you press the button power does not bring to the top of the screen of the bios or any other message. I have concluded there is no power the jury. A friend he had its technology take a look and he concluded Council is probably a friend.

    So my questions are:
    1. He's probably right?
    2. is it a common problem with an easy solution?
    3. what else can do before shelling out for a new Board of Directors?
    4. is there a link where I can find how to disassemble the case?

    Any help appreciated

    Hello

    > 1. He's probably right?

Yes, it looks like motherboard failure

    > 2. Is this a common problem with an easy solution?

If it's a motherboard problem, the whole motherboard is replaced. Quite expensive part...

    > 3. What else can do before shelling out for a new Board of Directors?

I don't think you can do anything with fried mobo

    > 4. Is there a link where I can find how to disassemble the case?

Take a look at the site called irisvista.com

  • Satellite Pro L300 - Windows does not start

Silly person I am, and being computer illiterate I turned off my laptop while it was downloading updates.
Now when I turn it on it shows a black screen with 2 boot options.
    1 to start repair/restore mode,
1 to start windows normally but does not work.

I made the recovery discs after that I bought the laptop, but I am wary about its use.
Although I don't do a lot of work that needs to save, I only surf the net and make emails.

There are other safer options for marketing?

    Hello

If you have any important data on the HARD drive you can use the recovery disk to reinstall the OS again and set up the device to the factory settings.
The recovery disc will format the HARD drive and erase everything from the HARD drive.
The installation process does not take long, you need to boot from the recovery disk and having to follow the instructions on the screen. All that s!

  • Satellite Pro L300 - WLAN connection stopped working

FN + 8 indicates that the wireless is as shown in the icon but suddenly tonight the connection failed while I was looking through internet and I can't get it back.

I have reset the modem - the laptop is connected by ethernet cable to a modem, even with a good connection. The laptop is around the age of 16 months and is currently running Windows 7 Pro. I've updated all the drivers tonight, but even if it is 'on', it does not work.

The usb wireless modem will dig tomorrow, but I wonder if the card has abandoned :(

    null

Everything is possible. Wireless network card appears correctly in the Device Manager?

In any case if you can use the WLAN USB stick it will be probably easier and quicker solution for you.

I currently have a Satellite Pro L300-155. At work, the WIFI signal is strong everywhere where I am in the building because we have 2 WIFI connections. However, I can connect okay in 1 room but if I just go in the other room, I'm unable to connect - and the connection is still strong. This also happens intermittently at home.
Is it of diagnostics that I can run on the Toshiba to test wifi?

Where can I find what chip it is? Where is the wifi location - on a motherboard, etc?
Can it be replaced and where I could quote from?

    Thanks in advance

    Hi cooky44,

In my opinion, you should update the routers firmware and update your WLAN driver.

Furthermore, I have created an interesting document on improvements to WLAN connection:

Also check the forum similar topics WLAN.
