Satellite Pro L300 - HDD is not detected

My Satellite L300 hanged while I used it. I tried to restart, it just wouldn't start. It shows this message on the screen "no bootable device-insert boot disk and press any key" tried, but it still does not work. Then I tried using the restore disc. It then displays a message on the scree that the hard drive is not mounted which means that it does not detect the presence of the HARD drive.

What can I do?

Hey,.

This looks like the HARD drive is not recognized, so your computer isn't able to boot and disk HARD recovery doesn't work correctly

I recommend you check the BIOS if the HARD drive is recognized correctly. Usually in the BIOS, you should see the correct HARD drive model number and it would mean recognized s. Otherwise, the HARD drive is faulty and must be replaced

Hi all that I need help urgent because it drives me crazy. First of all, I use XP PRO. My laptop is fairly new, only around the age of 4 months, I had no problem with it at all. I formatted my laptop yesterday and reinstalled all the drivers that I downloaded here:

    http://www.ISD.Toshiba.com.au

and everything works fine except the touchpad. I have already installed shared, utilitarian toggle the touchpad Module and I have the latest BIOS installed and reset all default settings and I made sure that the touchpad is enabled in the BIOS, but also pressing FN + F9 to enable during Windows.

I installed the latest touchpad driver Synpatics I downloaded from the homepage of Synaptics. But for some reason any, that it does not work, I don't know what is the problem here. My touchpad worked before I formatted my laptop, it worked fine and has never had any problems. Will you please tell me what is wrong because I need to use my touchpad sometimes as well, so I can't use a mouse all the time.

    Hello

    > I installed the latest Synaptics touchpad driver that I downloaded from the home page of Synaptics
I think that you question refers simply to the driver for the touchpad that is missing or incorrect.
I put t know how it works on Toshiba notebook Australian, but the Toshiba European Satellite Pro L300 units needs touchpad different drivers. some use the Toshiba touchpad driver and some units need a driver for the Synaptics touchpad.

In your case, I recommend this controlled again.

By the way; My touchpad is always disabled so that en external mouse is connected.
It is parameters that control it. Please check in your touchpad properties too!

  • Shortcut keyboard Toshiba Satellite Pro L300 - properties will not end

    Dear lovers of Toshiba:

This week, we have installed three new systems of Toshiba Satellite Pro L300 (two L300-153, a L300-156) with recovery media for Windows XP since the L300-156 product (no date on the disc, only two codes: CD 5 124624 and GMR400841EN0).

The machines are beautiful and very effective, except for one problem: when the logout or shutdown Windows XP, the program called 'The Toshiba keyboard shortcut properties' does not stop automatically and opens a dialog "end program". The user may terminate the program immediately by clicking on the button 'End now' or wait until it to expire, after which the system disconnects or terminate normally.

We noticed only after the installation of Service Pack 3 on all machines, so I don't know if the problem was present before SP3 has been applied. (We will be definitely check this on the following system and display the result.) Install the rest updates Windows with Service Pack 3 does not resolve the problem. Not more then that uninstall Toshiba Hotkey Utility by installing the package current, freshly downloaded from the Toshiba support area.

A colleague suggested disabling startup programs. There are two likely choices for this purpose in the startup list + of + msconfig +: * thotkey * and * TFncKy *. Disabling either of these programs allows the disappearance of problem, but the functions of the * Fn keys are lost. The key functions are also lost when uninstalling the Toshiba Hotkey Utility.

My question is of two parts:
    # Comment this problem be solved permanently, or circumvented (other than to say the customer never disconnect & close always the cover to hibernate)?
    # If there is no solution yet, how can a bug report situate with Toshiba, so I can get them the information they need to solve this problem and establish the responsibility?
I will continue to post new information here that I acquire until a permanent solution is reached.

Although this problem seems trivial and 'cosmetic' it's always awkward having to provide new machines customers with such an obvious flaw. It ourselves and Toshiba look bad, especially after that we sold the idea that people avoid problems of this kind to choose a Windows XP on Vista platform.

    Thank you, Robert Phair
    Director.

    > when the logout or shutdown Windows XP, the program called 'The Toshiba keyboard shortcut properties' does not stop automatically and opens a dialog "end program"...
    > We noticed only after the installation of Service Pack 3 on all machines, so I don't know if the problem was present before SP3 has been applied

Problems could be caused by Win XP SP3. I've read several times that SP3 could be not entirely compatible with drivers or 3rd tools
So I guess there is a problem of compatibility between the exe and SP3 files.
By the way; SP3 is not completely released and updated test!

I installed SP3 for some tests on my old non-Toshiba laptop and my work LAN card didn't so it of really possible that SP3 causes this.

    > There are two likely choices for this in the msconfig startup list: thotkey and TFncKy. Disabling either of these programs, the disappearance of the problem, but the functions of the Fn keys are lost

It is clear that the thotkey and TFncKy files belong to applications that control the FN keys, SO if you would disable this in msconfig then buttons would not work.

So, a solution might be a removal of SP3 System.
In addition, you should try to clean the registry and operating system using the free tool like CCleaner.

    > Hope to get a response from an engineer from Toshiba, if there is no monitoring of this forum.
I hope this too, but it seems that this forum is only a user forum.

  • Satellite Pro L300 - sound is not working properly

    Hi all!

Last week, I bought my Toshiba Satellite Pro L300.
I have had no operating system with the laptop, but I had my own XP, so I changed the SATA drives in compatibility mode and installed windows XP Pro.
(By the way this is a Vista laptop officially)
I installed all the drivers, but I have a problem with the sound. It has a bad quality, but this isn't the biggest problem.
If I start listening to music, the sound stops every 3-4 seconds for a fraction of a second. It's as if the processor worked (like the computer was loading, and the processor is a bit overloaded) I usually have this experience if I run many programs simultaneously on my old computer, it slows down and the music stops for a second. But on the new laptop, I run winamp, I have dp nothing but listen to the music, and I get this problem.

Can anyone help? Is it because of XP? Or the driver does not work properly? Or I have a big problem and should go back to the store?
    Please write!

    Hello

Did you notice HARD drive activity when this happens?
Maybe some anti-virus works in the background.

Maybe you can order original Toshiba recovery DVD for your laptop model. Check it out under the https://backupmedia.toshiba.eu/landing.aspx

Using WXP only? I ask this question because I believe that you can only get to this Vista laptop.

  • Satellite Pro L300-1FN does not start - hang at the BIOS splash screen

My Satellite Pro L300-1FN refuses to start. When turned on the laptop displays the home screen toshiba/insyde H20 BIOS and the message "press F2 go to the Setup utility, F12 to go to the start menu" and flashes the light access to the hard drive, but don't try to continue loading. I left the bios at the start screen, but it doesn't do anything for long hours on a power supply or is running the battery flat while on battery.

Is there a way to re - put the BIOS on this unit? If it's a desktop unit I would remove the CMOS battery to force a reset of the BIOS but that's impossible on a laptop. The hard drive is fine because I have it plugged into another system to remove valuable data.

    Hello

What happens if you press F2 when starting the laptop to the top?
    You can access the BIOS?
If so, access the BIOS and set its default value. I think you need to press F9 or F10 to get default parameters, but this will be mentioned at the bottom of the page of the BIOS.

  • Satellite Pro C660-1NQ does not detect the WLan network

    Hi guys,.

We have a Toshiba Satellite Pro C660-1NQ here that does not at all, detect the wireless network
I checked the Device Manager and the wireless card does not show here.

I tried scanning for new hardware, but nothing was found. I tried to turn the wireless off tension with the function and the keys F8 but not yet showing in Manager devices or any new hardware...

Any ideas as to what I can try next?

    See you soon,.

    Hello

It seems that the laptop would support the Wlan Atheros 802.11agn card.
Usually the Atheros Wlan card must appear in Device Manager as on the menu network cards.
If it s not appear do not then I recommend that you install the WLAN driver which can be downloaded here:
    http://APS2.toshiba-tro.de/WLAN/?page=downloads

Choose the Atheros Wireless LAN Adapter Windows 7 (32/64) 9.2.0.419.0 or newer
I hope this helps to detect the WiFi chip!

    > I have test the SATA hard drive on the desktop and it detects its.
This looks like your HARD disk on the motherboard controller is faulty
But before that you exchange the motherboard but I would test another HARD drive maybe the HARD drive is faulty and will recognize only on certain computers or mothers.

If a new drive HARD doesn t work too, your motherboard needs to be replaced.

  • Satellite Pro A60 - HARD drive not detected by BIOS

    Hi all!
I received a Pro (PSA65E) Satellite A60 for free... because it has a bug! But I want to fix it and use it.
Problem is that the HARD drive is not recognized by the BIOS. Strange enough, it is possible to format during the initial phase of an installation of the OS from scratch (I tried with Win XP and Win 2000), but facilities do not proceed any further because it won't start HD. If I try to install a time shild, he can't find some data already present in the HD and gives warnongs... which means that it is also possible to write to the disk.
The BIOS screen shows: no drive.
CD-ROM drive is OK, shown as secondary.
I also look in the forums to nothing does not.
    Actions taken so far:
    * flashed the BIOS, now at version 1.90
    * Replaced the original HD (Toshiba, 40 GB) known to be good, by another more small (Toshiba, 30 GB)
    * Tried to remove the drive CD and checked BIOS recognizes, it has been removed and recognized it even when delivered. The same manoeuvre with the HD does not change the BIOS screen: he says still 'no drive '.
    * Tried with the BACK of Partition Magic version: it says "no disk found. Same thing with the backup came with the PC disks.
Tried other stuff found in Fora them: remove all the power sorce, let the PC for a few minutes... open and checked for visible problems in the area of the disc HARD and so on.
    Any suggestion would be appreciated!

    Thank you

  • Satellite Pro L300 - no wireless device detected

Hi, my L300 lost its WiFi capability.

I had been using a dongle WiFi of o2 while the comings and goings, but I take is more portable so wanted to return to the use of WiFi built into the House. Problem is when I turn it on the power switch on the front, nothing happens, even if you use FN + F8.

I looked in the dev Manager and only ethernet RTL8102E is listed in the network adapters, I tried showing hidden devices etc etc. as well as don't try different views - that is to say no joy for connection etc. I downloaded and run Lavalys Everest and can't find any trace of WiFi with that either. I know that this laptop has WiFi built in as I formatted and needed to get drivers before. It has an Atheros ar5000e I think.

    Any help would be appreciated.

PS: I've updated the BIOS version 1.90, and there is no option to activate WiFi built into the BIOS either? Help please.

    Hello

Can you post the exact laptop model name and model number? You can find it on sticker Toshiba placed at the bottom of your L300. I'll try to check what WLAN card must be on the inside.

When the device driver is not installed, it will be classified as unknown device device.
Do you have these entries in Device Manager?

One last thing: wireless network card is under the keyboard, if you want to check if the wireless card is inside you must remove the keyboard first. If you are not familiar with such things please don't do anything that may damage your laptop or parts in plastic.

In the end, I must say one thing: If the laptop is installed with the recovery image delivered Toshiba all hardware components must be installed correctly and also visible in Device Manager. When the WLAN card is not listed with the settings that something is wrong here.

Silly person I am, and being computer illiterate I turned off my laptop while it was downloading updates.
Now when I turn it on it shows a black screen with 2 boot options.
    1 to start repair/restore mode,
1 to start windows normally but does not work.

I made the recovery discs after that I bought the laptop, but I am wary about its use.
Although I don't do a lot of work that needs to save, I only surf the net and make emails.

There are other safer options for marketing?

    Hello

If you have any important data on the HARD drive you can use the recovery disk to reinstall the OS again and set up the device to the factory settings.
The recovery disc will format the HARD drive and erase everything from the HARD drive.
The installation process does not take long, you need to boot from the recovery disk and having to follow the instructions on the screen. All that s!

Where can I get a driver for the standard DVD ROM?

    Hey riri,.

Check in Device Manager to see if your DVD-ROM is listed and if so was it an exclamation mark against it? If it is, then simply remove it from your system and restart. Windows will identify as a new device and install with the correct driver.

It is also possible that the drive may have 'disappeared' If you have recently removed any software DVD. It is a known issue and a solution is described in the following Microsoft Knowledge Base article: -.
