  I'm guessing that you have had an internet connection and your PC downloaded a update that his having difficulties to install.  Try to leave this connection and the update manually.

  Set to "Full control" permissions on the files of Adobe for all users in the following locations:

  • [System drive]: \Users\ [user name] \AppData\Local\
  • [System drive]: \Program Files (x 86) \Common Files\

  Restart the computer.

  Now proceed with the installation.

• Disk utility says Everything is Fine, when it's not

  I am trying to understand what the point of disk utility. I checked (several times) my boot drive (SSD) and a second internal HARD disk, disk utility says it all goes well and nothing in need of repair. Meanwhile, I can say drives are certainly * not * ok since I get poor system performance, and the HARD disk is sprayed randomly when I access/copy some files.

  I went and got the SMART utility and Disk Warrior, SMART utility written my boot drive is FAILING and my HARD drive has FAILED.

  I am now under DW on it, but I'm pretty annoyed that utility disk is essentially useless to see if there are problems with the discs...

  Disk utility and disk warrior can only repair the files in the directory, they are unable to repair a disk that is physically / mechanically failing.

• iTunes says: I'm updating when I'm not

  I recently updated my Windows 8.1 for Windows 10 and I am running iTunes vs 12.1.2.27. I have the settings to automatically search for updates, and it used to do that on Windows 8.1. Now on W10, when I manually select "Search for updates", the message box comes up saying I'm already under the latest version, but I see we vs 12.4.0 out there today.  Why is this?  I'm on a laptop Dell Inspiron, W10 64-bit.  Any suggestions? Thought I would ask before downloading a new facility and what might cause other problems.

  I have windows defender because I was sick of the Security Center shouting that my pc is not protected and I was sick of hiding updates all the time. I also installed Norton. I uninstalled McAfee off my pc when I installed Norton. Now the windows Defender said that my virus programs are incompatible and that McAfee is still there. I went through Add/Remove, I looked in program files manually and I even went through the registry - deleted a single stray McAffe register, but he always says that he is there.   No, you're not stupid!  If you provide the model of the computer, I'll see if I can figure out whether or not he has touchscreen.  It wouldn't be impossible to believe that an incorrect thumbnail could be placed on a computer.  Many of the same components are used in different models.

• Windows Vista says disk is empty when it is not

  I've been watching photos to a hour drive today when all of a sudden windows from the disk of thought was empty. When I went to the file management bar to my dvd, CD-ROM drive was almost to the end, indicating that the disk is almost full (and not empty), but the bar was red instead of the normal blue. I have another copy of the disc, so I got that one. Once more after watching it for about 30 minutes, the photos have disappeared and he told me to drag items to burn. I tried all the fixes on the internet (regedit, uninstall/reinstall, update driver), nothing works. The disks have been created on this computer and work well on other computers. Just stopped working on this one.
