Screen collapsed when to enable Intel GM45 with Switchable Graphics in W500 (beyond 4 GB of installed RAM)

I installed ThinkPad Switchable Graphics Driver for Windows 7 (64-bit and 32-bit) to my W500 ThinkPad running Windows 7 Ultimate RTM (x 64).

When I activate Intel GM45 (Energy Saving Graphics), collapsed screen was displayed.

Example: http://www.o-rz.net/public/win7_intel_gm45_screen_collapse.png

This problem occurs only 6 GB RAM (2 GB + 4 GB) installed. 4 GB (2 GB + 2 GB) is normal.

I don't have two Modules of 4 GB of memory so I can't test it installed 8 GB system

This is a bug in the driver. If you have non matching memory size, then this will be the case. Must stick with ATi graphics card, up to what the pilot official windows 7 came out.

  • Vidock 2 ATI HD4670 working with switchable graphic version T400/500 w?

    this review , it seems clear the US $379 Vidock 2 with the desktop ATI Radeon HD 4670 card will work fine with an integrated graphics card only T400 running Windows 7.

    But not the restriction of Vista to require that the display driver even if there are several graphics cards, see here , means that it would be possible to use Vidock 2 with a dedicated graphics processor (IE with switchable graphics architecture) T400/500 under Windows 7?

    I know that in this case Vista would not support multiple monitors, but would it be possible to turn off the laptop LCD (Fn + F7 optionally?) to get the DVI monitor, attached to the Vidock 2 in turn connected through the ExpressCard to work properly under Vista? It should turn off switchable graphics in the Bios?

    The answers would be the same for the 4 Vidock with the ATI Radeon HD 4890 which is supposed to deliver this month?

    Vista restricting to a single driver of unique software for several graphics cards is filled for a 2 Vidock attached to my T500 because the ATI Catalyst driver is the same for HD 3650, HD 4670 and HD 4890. Worst case may be to define discrete graphics option (only) in the Bios. With same hopefully switchable graphics would work, starting with the built-in switchable graphics 9.5 ATI Catalyst in their vanilla desktop drivers.

    Hello

    Thanks for posting back.  It's a very good point you bring up.  The first thing you want to do before you make any changes with the hardware and software that can directly modify the functionality of the hardware is to set a Restore Point.  If you download the right drivers for your graphics first. Click here. Save the download of the driver on a memory stick.

    Once you have created a restore point, that's when we want to go and delete your video driver.

    Now, in doing this you want to go in safe mode with network.  I have not reduced the exact reason why the material disappears when this is done in the normal windows operations.  By safe mode, as you stand a better chance of any other software that can be to access the same files or registry entries that might cause things disappear.

    Here are some links to work with dealing with the video drivers in safe mode for troubleshooting.

    More information the better in this case.  It will give you a better understanding of what can happen during the process.

    How to uninstall Catalyst™ AMD of a basic system of Windows® drivers

    Windows 7: uninstall and delete the software mode safe

    How to use Safe Mode to fix your Windows PC (and when you should)

    NOW! One thing you want to protect is your good registry database that before starting any other stuff and you're in safe mode do after creating your restore point.

    Back up the registry!

    So basically:

    (1) create restore point.

    (2) save all important files.

    (3) create a backup of the registry.

    (4) boot safe.

    (5) uninstall the graphics driver from Device Manager. (This video is a big help)

    (6) restart the computer in normal startup of windows 7.

    (7) install the driver that you downloaded.

    I hope this will help please let me know how thing go.

    Thanks again for posting and have agreat day.

  • HP Pavilion g7-sr2377 Nr. D2H11EA #ACB problem with switchable graphics

    Hello everyone.

    I have a big problem with the graphics switchable on HP Pavilion g7-2377, it does not work.

    Main graphics card: Intel HD 4000

    Discreet: AMD Radeon HD7600

    I'm using a Windows 7 Ultimate x 64 operating system. Can someone help with this problem?

    Hello:

    The AMD driver install drivers for the AMD and Intel GPU.

    You can install the Intel driver or try to update all the drivers or switchable graphics do not work.

    It is the only driver that you can always use if you want the chart to work right.

    They don't update the graphics drivers switchable because it probably costs too much time and money to 3 companies to work on keeping up-to-date.

    The only time where they would never update switchable graphics drivers would be if there was a bug in that they come out.

    Hey guys, I can't understand this switchable graphics thing... I mean if its dynamics then is it bound to use the graphics card dedicated for games that don't require it... it's also my dedicated gpu playing vids n films for me?

    Because for example I play fifa 11 n it can run pretty decently on intel hd3000 (low settings) so it is possible that I can use for fifa 11...

    I have amd 6490 m if that helps...

    Pls answer n I am a novice so be less irritable...

    Thank you

    HP dv series laptops have a BIOS switch which manages switchable graphics modes. It should allow you to select dynamic and fixed it.

  • !!! BEWARE OF A SCREEN BLUE (WHEN YOU START YOUR SYSTEM) WITH A LONG QUESTION. WE HAVE ONLY 10 SECONDS TO RESPOND AND REACT TO THE! Somebody has hacked my system / do I have a virus?

    Hi all

    Basically, several months ago I noticed something strange on my computer - I know that I should have acted immediately - my Task Manager has been "disabled by Administrator [my]". Yet, I am the administrator!

    Secondly, I lit my system yesterday and was immediately welcomed with a pale blue screen with lots of white, writing, that says, ' we recommend strongly you do not press "ENTER"...? If you do and you want to move before the expiry of the period...? " However, in time, that I tried to browse what was in front of me (that I was unable to catch everything), a 10 sec period had expired and many more white/numbers/text symbols suddenly started flowing to the bottom of my screen (for 15-20 seconds-from left to right)! In addition, my turn makes an unusual noise - as serious an alert! Immediately after, my system loaded up as usual!

    So, I opened the Start Menu (after I restarted my computer to activate the Safe Mode) and the arrow keys has / not working -I can't navigate upwards or downwards to select one of the options! Yet, they have worked perfectly any other time since - just not in Start Menu! Then, I scanned with Windows Defender and nothing has found summer - my "system is safe."

    Third, since then, I've noticed that my system (Windows XP) ran much more slowly too - informed the script is busy, plug-ins are insensitive, etc. - and the/things are / dragged across the screen! Therefore, I searched the forum and help guide to Firefox for everything that seemed similar and came across an instance of another person things 'slide' with a slow system, who suspects a virus! So, I followed the advice given to them - reset Firefox and download a "10 days free Microsoft Virus Scanner" (recorded under msert.exe); He set off to search for more than 9 hours, which found nothing/no infected files!

    Finally, for all that, I can not use system restore or reset Firefox! I never pressed ENTER when the message appeared - do you think I should be?

    I know that my version of Windows has expired and I plan to update very soon, but do not want to lose all the vital files. So, I am currently the backup copies.

    All this activity may be connected? Or would it be different things are happening? And also, please could someone perhaps shed light on what happened or if they can help somehow? I would be VERY grateful.

    Thank you very much

    Bruce.

    Since we have not heard from you lately, I will go ahead and tell you how to fix your problem disabled Task Manager (and probably a few other things):

    Basically, when you see these errors, the usual advice is something in the sense of "something has been disabled in the group policy...". ", and it is probably true that something has been disabled, but you know what something is and what it takes to do about it.

    If you are using XP Home Edition, you will get away with advice to use the Group Policy Editor because there is no Group Policy Editor in XP Home and that advice really doesn't tell you where to look in group policy, even if you run the Group Policy Editor (unless it's really good advice).

    Basically, you need a complete solution that works for all versions of XP and requires no hunting around in the Group Policy Editor or registry to find where things are that may have been disabled.

    Unless you have disabled these things on purpose, chances are good that your system has a malware infection.  The malware knows what tools you use to try to find and remove (like Task Manager), the malware disables the things you tend to use and prevents them from running if you can't find the malware and remove it.

    If your system has this kind of affliction, all malicious software tools you currently use or have used failed to protect your system so that you can expand your horizons malware detection and prevention to prevent these kinds of afflictions in the first place.

    The malware will be happy you trick into thinking that you need to so something drastic to fix your system - as a facility repair, system restore point or a total reinstallation of XP.  This is what it would be like you, but these measures are not necessary.

    You must solve the immediate problem of the tools does not, then scan your system for malware when you are finished.

    No matter what kind of malware you've used analytical tools, they are unlikely to solve this problem, because they cannot tell if the changes made to your system have been on purpose (you or an administrator who makes them) or some malware changed them, so the analysis tools will let these things alone (it's usually a good thing).

    If your system is afflicted in this way, there are probably other things that also do not work - like the registry editor, System Restore and the command prompt, so fix them all at once even if you have not discovered they are broken again.

    These commands from registry removes the registry entries that are stop opening programs.  Although the registry entries do not exist, these commands are safe to run and will work for all versions of XP.

    Before making any changes to your registry, back up the registry with this free and popular tool:

    http://www.SnapFiles.com/get/ERUNT.html

    You can also manually create a system restore point before you make these adjustments.

    Open Notepad (and only Notepad) to create a new text file:

    Click Start, run and enter in the box:

    notebook

    Click OK to open a new Notepad file.

    Copy and paste the following lines in BOLD text into the new Notepad file:

    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System]
    "DisableTaskMgr" = -.
    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System]
    "DisableRegistryTools" = -.
    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\System]
    "DisableCMD" = -.
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionPoliciesSystem\\\]
    "DisableTaskMgr" = -.
    [HKEY_USERS\.default\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System]
    "DisableTaskMgr" = -.
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon]
    "DisableCAD" = DWORD: 00000000
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows NT\SystemRestore]
    "DisableConfig" = -.
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows NT\SystemRestore]
    "DisableSR" = -.
    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer]
    "NoRun" = -.
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer]
    "NoRun" = -.
    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer]
    "NoClose" = -.
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer]
    "NoClose" = -.
    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer]
    "NoSetTaskbar" = -.
    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer]
    "NoControlPanel" = -.

    Save the new text file with extension .reg on your desktop or somewhere you can remember with a name you can remember, something like:

    enableit.reg

    After you save the file, close Notepad.

    Locate the file enableit.reg on your desktop and double-click it.

    Alternatively, you can right-click on the enableit.reg file, choose merge or open with... and select the registry editor or import.

    Answer in the affirmative to the question... Are you sure you want to add the information in the registry?

    You should then see a message that information has been registered in the register.

    Reboot your system and test to make sure the changes 'stick '.

    You can delete the enableit.reg file when you are finished.

    If the registry editor has also been disabled, you will see a message like this:

    Registry editing has been disabled by your administrator.

    We must therefore first difficulty (not a problem).

    Click Start, run, and in the type box (or just copy / paste the entire order in the window run more safe) the following text:

    reg delete HKCU/v DisableRegistryTools/f

    Then see if regedit behaves (of course it will be).

  • T400 with switchable graphics and ATI graphic issue Windows 7

    Hi all

    I wonder if someone found work drivers to switch between integration and the ATI graphics we.  The problem I have is that I installed once the drivers for Windows 7 Beta and it worked well, except that I do not have screens on for brightness and press mute do not work (although the volume keys worked)

    Now, after you install an update for the ATI driver, I got the poster on the screen and the button mute to work, but I can't change the brightness when using the ATI graphics card. ATI has a beta version for the operating system win 7 on their site, but later, they can do they recommend to go to the site of the manufacturer of the laptop.

    On the site, I downloaded all the possible drivers without success (and once I got a blank screen after loading windows... I had to boot into safe mode and remove all the ATI drivers for the view at the beginning upward) so I use now on the integrated graphics card and it works fine but if I switch to the ATI I run the risk of not being able to change the brightness but also not being able to return to the integrated graphics card (he told me to close all 3d applications and video before moving on when it there) was nothing to open)

    Everyone knows a problem similar to mine? I ran out of options on the lenovo site, so I don't know what to do now. New drivers any time soon?

    Diagnosis

    The video "Refresh" is switching between 60 (on food) and 50 Hz (on battery), and the screen goes momentarily empty.

    Solution

    So what about current alternative, office > right click > properties > settings > advanced > monitor. Here, under the display settings, set the refresh rate of the screen at 50 Hertz. After you apply these settings, the flashing problem gets fixed.

    Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but the situation is that you should not do the upgrade of Win10.  Their upgrade tool has done a really poor job of detecting switchable graphics before the updrade, and as a result, people like you end up with machines that are no longer fully functional.  Same thing happened to me.

    With switchable graphics, the only work pilots come from OEM making machines, because the material is suitable, so having to be engines.  MS does not supply these drivers any more than the video card manufacturers.

    So, without driver HP Win10 for your PC, you're stuck with only two results:

    (1) keep Win10 and faced with the problem of graphs

    (2) to return your PC to the original operating system.

    I chose the second because I prefer a PC with an OS more old where everything worked, to a PC with a new operating system, where things don't work.

    To check this, on your iPhone, in the application of the watch, go to: Watch My > Workout - if it is currently enabled, disable power saving Mode.
