Screen remains black, while all buttons are light

original title: serious problem with my computer!

I'm trying to fix my computer because something is obviously wrong with it and I'm not very good with computers, so I don't really know what I'm doing, and I think I might have messed up even more now.

Recently, I tried to back up my files on my d drive but he said he couldn't because my c drive was damaged so he told me I could fix it and I tried, but he says he couldn't when it is in use and told me to program it so that he could check it out when I start then my computer. Then I restarted my computer, and every time I restart my computer, it has a problem back on. The screen remains black then that all the keys are lit and then after a minute or two, it hangs, and then she did it again and again until I have press and hold the power button to turn it off. I have to finish by wait 5 minutes before turning on so it lights correctly, otherwise it will just do that again.

Then he started toward the top of normal, of course I know what the disk check thing looks like now because what happens now, but before it has not then I thought it did not work and as a last resort, I wanted to wipe my hard drive clean because I tried everything I could, and I don't have the money to fix right now and probably won't for a while. So I followed all the instructions for the recovery of the system and none of the other stuff worked and I decided to go with my disk wiping hard completely clean and restore factory settings. I followed all the instructions and then it turns off my computer, trying to wake it up, so his restart of course, but he does what its been recently when it restarts and crashes.

If I turn it off and wait a few minutes, then turn it on and I was really upset at that time here because I thought that it did not work. Its starts upward and there appears the disk check thing and it says system files verification on c: responding file type is NTFS. __Cannot volume open for access.__windows live has finished check the disc. then goes to the login screen I open a session, but then the screen is black and the only thing I see is my mouse. It was like it maybe 30 minutes or more, and I didn't know what was happening so I turned off and then tried to turn it on and it does the same thing next time. I thought that maybe when he crashed he screwed up the process, or perhaps checking file system on c drive messed up. So when I had the chance, he finally started upward and I connected again but this time on the user prompted and everything was still there but it was EXTREMELY slow, as it took maybe 10 minutes or more to open what anyone and it loaded really slow when I logged in. I finally made the thing about system recovery again after a few hours of waiting so he can keep loading, cause whenever I clicked it, it does not always work. And then it's the same thing all over again. He obviously never erased from my hard drive, so I probably * my computer even more, and then it was already * upward and it was a gift, so I would really like to fix so if someone can help me maybe I would really appreciate it!

Hi TeresaBilski,

·         How have you tried to reinstall the operating system?

I suggest you erase the hard drive and do a clean reinstall of Vista. I would like to ask if you still have the boot floppies for Windows Vista that came with the computer. If this isn't the case, you will need to get a.

I am pretty illiterate with a lot of the terminology, I am self-taught, so please dumb it down a bit.

My husband took my computer laptop yesterday outside to clean the fan (it was overheating to the point of burning to the touch and close several times a day, so I thought there would be a ball of hair there our dog, but not just a few thick layers of dust). We cleaned, kept track of everything pretty well, he promised that he put everything back as it was - he is experienced with disassembly macbooks and other laptops we have owned to clean the fans without problem. He has taken apart again for each connection was insured, but the question remains.

When we tried to turn it on, it sounds very well in what concerns the normal startup but the screen remains black and the caps lock light and a light on the number btwn keyboard end & pg key to blink slowly home.

I looked, but nobody seems to have this exact problem - I did unplug, remove the battery, put the power for 20 sec plug, then power on without battery- but which did not help of course.

I need a solution in order to save them on a hard drive and at least get a new laptop, as is the plan I had for months with this intense overheating problem. Has happened for at least two years or maybe even since we purchased in Nov 2009. Also, it seems absolutely crazy and stupid to block most of the fan with a speaker, among other things. His is no longer a mystery why I burned by this thing - seriously I could scramble the eggs with the HP thing.

If I can't get the screen for good work, I can handle this, but I need to connect it via hdmi on my TV as a last resort to save them on my hard drive until I have trash the pos.

OK, thanks for your help with flashing lights in codes, and although he was not really the key to this problem, I have solve my problem.

We finally got to work this morning

There had been flashes two times (several times) while the article says BIOS corruption - which does not make sense to me, but all of a sudden my husband thinks aloud that he may have changed the cards memory when assembling it back together.

The key here is that if you took it apart and the screen will start - you has NOT put it back together properly and you, as I, probably shouldn't be disassemble computers

Use your smart phone to take photos of each important step to dismantle everything.

Once he came back, he also realized that they were not completely locked into the slot so maybe it was they key and maybe it doesn't matter what order they were but try both the cards memory switch disconnected and reconnected the if you experience this problem.

Otherwise, follow the guides the person provided in their response. My problem was strictly material.

    Good luck

  • Satellite a200-1sv screen remains black at startup in Vista

    Hello

We have a problem with Toshiba Satellite A200-1sv my girlfriend: when we started, most of the time, the screen remains black, while the computer starts: after awhile, we can hear the sound of windows (vista).

In addition, if connect us another screen of the computer, it displays the scheduled start screen. In order to use the computer, it must launch a few times... The support guy where we bought the computer told us "the computer is not compatible with Vista, we cannot do something".

    Can we do something?

    Thanks in advance,
    Ju

I have to smile to read this message
    Mainly, this statement is funny;
    > The support guys where we bought the computer told us "the computer is not compatible with Vista, we can't do something."

I think that this laptop has been delivered with the Vista operating system. So why the guy said that the laptop is not compatible with Vista?  :| …. that's nonsense.

First the A200-1SV belongs to the PSAE6E series and it s fully Vista capable.
Secondly, like you say the external screen displays home Toshiba screen and so I guess that's just a matter of adjustment.
What you can do is to use the FN + F5 key combination to switch between display devices.

If it doesn't help to try to put the laptop back to the factory settings using the Toshiba Recovery CD!
In this case, the new OS, driver and tools will be installed and then everything should work fine.

    Good bye

  • Acer blue 720 and the fan are on but the screen remains black

    Hello

I appreciate any help that can be provided.  I tried to remove the batter on my daughter 720 and reinsert, but this problem persists.  I can hear the fan and the blue light turns on but the screen remains black.  I tried to rest for 30 seconds and esc, refresh and power.

    Thank you

Well, when the scrween does not at all (even in text mode which allows a recovery) then it is most often a problem with the cable bwteeen the motherboard and screen, most often following it is a failure of the screen (which requires generally a matter of co-location as cracked screen) and from time to time, it is the motherboard. Probably time to contact Acer support to see on a repair.

  • Satellite A200 screen remains black when you try to start

    Hi all

My Toshiba Satellite A200 laptop computer no longer works, then everything started when I was playing a game, all of a sudden the screen turned blue with a tiny text written on it. I had to hold the power button for a few seconds to close, because nothing not happening on the computer. Then, I pressed the power button to open it. Everything was fine, until the Welcome screen. In this part, he wrote 'Welcome' but Vista left loading circle of it was not turning.

After a few seconds, I decided to shut down the computer once again, so I hold the power button for the computer firm. Here's the problem: I tried to re-open it, but the screen remained black. Nothing was happening. The power light is blue, but not all computer activity. So I left it like that a few minutes then it closed and tried again, but it's the same thing. I tried to take it apart and noticed the card two memory was not entirely in its niche. I fixed it, but it does not solve the problem.

I also tried to plug another screen on it, but this one was also black. So I handed the screen on his computer and tried to boot my laptop and it worked. He was the starter, but the first problem came, the Welcome screen was frooze it. So yes I close it up and then it's the same thing, the screen remained black.

I don't think the problem is the screen, because as I said some time it goes to the Welcome screen. Also, I hear no welcome sound when the screen remains black as if the computer would simply not starts. And as I said earlier, I see no activity of the computer on the little light in front of the computer. And to the left of it, I see clearly that the computer is ON, because the power light is blue.

That is my problem, the next time that the computer is able to start I'll try to boot mode SAFE, but until then, I don't know what to do. Please, help me.

    Thanks in advance,
    MrRoy

    EDIT:
After the computer is turned off for about 30 minutes, I started and booted in safe mode. At this stage, I have locked my computer with the close button instead on the power button. Then I opened my computer and he started and the problem was solved. Now my laptop is open and working.

So, if this happens to you:
    1. turn off your computer.
    2. wait about 30 minutes.
    3. start in safe mode
    4. close using istead of now off button power button closure.

    It should work.

Finally, it does not work. I don't know why, but my computer did start after 30 minutes, but now it no longer works. Only, it will not start as I said later, with a black screen.

The computer worked for about half an hour. I mean, I managed to start but after running a program, it just froze and I had to hold the power button to restart. I made about 3 or 4 times, and then he was simply the black screen again. I think the problem is my processor, maybe that it is damaged or something, would it possible?

Because I see that the processor does not work when I try start it.

So let's say that this is the case, would it be the symptoms of my computer?
And if it's the processor, the only way to resolve this is to send it to a repairman or something, because I don't feel like it, I'd rather do it myself.

But now, my computer is simply not starting, as I said in my previous post.

    Thanks in advance,
    MrRoy

  • MacBook Pro 2015 turns on but the screen remains black...

    Hello

Today, I tried to turn on my MacBook Pro, but my screen stays black. When I press the caps lock button, it turns green which I guess means he lit. I've also heard the startup chime it generally makes when you turn on. I already tried to turn it on and off several times and reset the SMC and the LANDAU... The screen is always black.

    Could someone help me please?

Also a few minutes ago the fan has started to make noise in the macbook...

    But the screen remains black.

    Thank you

    Shaynidw

    Hi shaynidw,

From your description, it seems that your MacBook Pro is powered, as soon as you hear the startup chime and see the light on the keyboard.  Thus, it seems that the problem may be with your screen or the video card.

On the screens you see when you start your Mac

    Power on

When you turn on your Mac, display is off (black) and you hear a startup chime. Your Mac Initializes his BootROM and memory (RAM live). It then performs a power - on that self test (POST) and a test of BootROM. If you hear beeps or chimes at this stage, this indicates a possible hardware problem and start stops. If you add memory to your Mac, check that it is installed correctly.

    White screen

After that only walking self-test is completed, your Mac sends a video signal to your connected screens. The screen may appear black or grey at this point in the boot sequence and backlight of the screen should light up. If you do not see the image appears on your screen after a few moments, try increasing the brightness of your screen. If you use an external monitor, make sure it is properly connected and turned on.

shaynidw, if set up the brightness of your screen does not help, you have an external display (computer screen or TV) that you can attach to your MacBook Pro to test?

In addition, you can try to start your computer in safe mode to see if you get different results.

Try safe mode if your Mac does not end commissioning

If the problem persists, you may need to take your computer to an Apple Store or service provider authorized Apple , so they can inspect the video card and cables to isolate the problem.

    Take care.

He will not go to log in screen etc. because the screen stays black.

    All advice appreciated.

    Must be the hardware problem.

It seems that no signal can be picked up by the monitor...

    Hi Stephanew,
as I recall it has an ati graphics card...

but try this to get your machine to work:

-pull out the hard drive to protect your data (Let's hope that there is no damage yet...)
-take out the battery and try to start only with the power adapter > shoukld you see the toshiba on-screen logo > failure other components can be 'guilty '...

-attach an external monitor to your computer and check if there is a visible image > no image at all?
-check the memory, for this purpose, remove the memory and test if the satellite "buddies" > heard some of this? Yes?

iasume the grafics card disappeared... see your certified partner...

  • Satellite P200D-139 - screen remains black

Hello, Ive had my laptop for a few years and after leaving in my freezer for a few weeks on vacation, I went to turn it on and the laptop turned on and the lights came, but the screen remained black. The screen was not completely black she lights up very slightly, but nothing was visible at all (not even very thirsty)

In the past, I encountered a situation where I had a red tinge to objects on my screen, but also red horizontal lines. This was never permanent and only occasionally happened.

About my most recent problem involving the black screen, I tried taking the battery and holding the switch thing on, but also to take my ram out and put it back again. After that I took the ram out, I turned on the laptop and the screen shows red objects and flashes the screen loading and then black again. I don't know if it was because of the ram or just a coincidence.

I'm completely stuck on the current situation and would be grateful for all the help I can get. Thank you!

    Hello

If everything is clear: in your case I would like to connect an external monitor to the laptop. So that you can identify if the problem is related to the screen internal or graphics card.

In both cases you need professional help, I think the something on the hardware needs to be replaced. Therefore, you must contact an authorized service provider. Technicians can check your laptop and fix it for you it's a little tricky.

On the Toshiba page, you will find a list of ASP.

    Welcome them

    Hello

I have a HP G62-b05SD. I noticed that many people have the problem of simmular.

I know what makes, but don't know how to fix it.

    So here it is.

Sometimes when I boot / reboot system screen turns black after the windows logo, but if I wait a while, I do not hear the star tune up windows, but the screen remains black.

I noticed that this happens when I shut down or restart the system with a usb port (be it a mouse or a stick is not serious)

If I all out en usb port restart or turn on the machine for the first time this day here, everything starts well.

So there must be some driver problems I think with usb ports and the screen or something.

    Help, please!

I also did a startup repair and it showed:

"If you have recently attached a device to this computer as a camera or portable music player, remove it and restart your computer. If you continue to see this message bla... bla... bla... "

    I hope you can help.

    Hi Frosty1984,

Thank you for visiting the Forums HP's Support and welcome. I read your thread on your HP G62 - b05SD Notebook and having problems with the starter. Here is a link to BIOS update.

  • Alienware x 51 starts, but the screen remains black.

I bought my x 51 all with warranty 1 year ago a year and a half, recently it has been giving me some problems and today I can't use it yet at all.

The problem started with my screen remains black when I turned on my computer (punt, never awake from sleep), but which would be corrected by me once or twice by restarting the computer. That did not last too long, and soon it did not matter how many times I rebooted the computer. I finally had to unplug the computer and press and hold the power for 30 seconds to see if it worked.

He did, but this solution has worked only once, and now I have nothing seems to regularize my situation. I tried switching monitors and cables with my brother (who is an identical 51 x), but nothing has worked.

    To summarize:

    My computer turns on.

Not funny lights or noises (save a beep on startup)

Screen remains black on reboot of the screen it says he receives no signal and falls asleep.

No problem when it runs normally (not funny colors, stripes on the screen or blur).

Help, please. Dell support wants 70 to 110 dollars to listen to even my problem, which is money, that I don't have at the moment.

Thanks for anything that might help!

Sounds like you have a dead video card, from the link above looks like there is no output from vga Intel to tun tests, you must remove the old video card and test with another video card that works to verify that the card is in fact dead, like your brothers x 51 remove the video card and test it on your machine.

If I had this machine in front of me I would use one of these babies for once then run tests on the video card.

    Hello

It of hard to say what's going wrong here, but maybe it s just a small issue that could be solved easily.
    Try this;
Remove the battery, disconnect the adapter.
A few hours and reconnect the two parts.
I had this problem in the past and leave the laptop disconnected during the night.
The next day, I connected battery and adapter A\c and the laptop worked again
