• Iomega Zip Drive old (PC) for Mac SCSI drives

  I came across my old Iomega Zip 100 Drive I used with my PC in 1999.  It is a SCSI drive.  I'm all about Apple and Mac during the past 10 years or so.  I have access to a Windows computer with, I think, Windows 98 on it. Is it possible to get pictures off the Zip disks?  I don't want to get a SCSI to USB cable and the ruin of my Mac. The Mac would even read the saved files.  No, I don't know how I saved them.  I just pictures on disks.

  Are you sure it's a SCSI disk (it's relatively rare to find SCSI on a PC)? There was an external parallel version of the Zip 100 drive. The connectors are DB - 25 for both versions, but the SCSI model has a special icon of SCSI ID and termination switches. The Iomega cables parallel and SCSI had different colors. Do not confuse the models. Do not plug in a parallel to a SCSI port, or vice versa.

  In any case, if the Zip drive in question in fact can be successfully connected to the Windows PC (98), you should be able to read the discs, Zip it. There are a few methods that can be used for a transfer to a modern Mac. Is - that computer has Ethernet?

  What exact model of Mac is this? You have access to a USB floppy drive (which can be connected to a Mac)?

  It would also be possible to locate a Zip USB drive that could be linked to a modern computer. It would be a matter of moving the Zip disks only.

  Yes, you will need a 64-bit driver, there need not be a native driver for Wndows 7 64-bit, you can also use a Windows Vista 64-bit driver if one is available.

  I created a virtual XP of Windows machine of a physical machine with VMware Converter. But now I'm invited with an error message when you start the virtual machine, stating that I have not a SCSI driver that I need. I did some research on Google about this topic and tried a few things, but have so far is not solved this problem. Any ideas/tips?

  SATA controllers will normally appear as "SCSI" controllers in windows. It's normal and nothing to worry about. Often the SATA controllers will also be able to run in IDE mode and then they present themselves as IDE controllers, but it is unlikely that they will be able to operate optimally, as the IDE interface is missing some features of SATA. So even if you do not have the ability to set the cache in the Device Manager, a SATA controller is running in mode SATA should work just fine.

  The IDE bus is managed by the controller SATA3, and if this control is set in the BIOS to "IDE" somehow it seems related to the operating system as a SCSI device.  By setting this entry in the BIOS to "RAID/IDE" IDE devices get properly detected.

  This can also occur if you change the BIOS settings for the SATA ports of 'IDE' to 'AHCI' after installing Windows 7.

  I have added a second hard drive for a VM XP.  The drive does not appear after that I have start the virtual machine.  I checked and it is using the VMware SCSI drive.  Am I supposed to change the driver for the LSI or Buslogic driver before the drive will appear in my computer?

  You have to do a Disk rescan in disk management (in your XP)?

  I have a Windows 2000 Server that I have P2V once a week for DR purposes. The only problem is that when I tried to start a got a BSOD and have thought that it is a problem of buslogic scsi driver. I had a look at the KB Article: 1005208, which gives instructions on how to install the Vmware scsi on the physical machine drivers before the conversion. It looks all pretty straight forward, however I was wondering what would be the risk to the physical Server does not start after the installation of this?

  If you use a virtual hard disk SCSI of VMware as the Volume of the system during the installation of Windows XP then VMware SCSI must be provided during the part in text Mode of Windows Setup.

  I get the text following error encrypted every time that I boot Windows XP in VMWare Fusion, since I've upgraded to version 4.02 a few months ago.  So I upgraded to version 5.02 hoping the error would go, but he didn't.

  After doing a bit of searching around, I finally found a driver called "vmscsi - 1.2.0.4.flp ', I connect to my virtual floppy drive.  Once I did, my virtual machine wouldn't boot (I get the error "NTDLR is missing.)  I then unplugged the virtual floppy drive, and now my virtual machine starts again.  I then re-connected the drive floppy and discovered the following content:

  Yes, you will need to uninstall the higher version. The drivers do not simultaneously work with several versions such as LabVIEW.

  Hello. I tried to do a clean install of XP Pro (academic version) with new partitions. I did this several times. Unfortunately, this time, I interrupted the process of partitioning. When I tried to reboot, the installation program now says he "cannot find a previous version of windows installed and needs to check that I have rights to use this upgrade product."   In fact, I did exactly as you suggested. But I've since found the answer: my XP Pro CDIS updated although indicating there is nothing on the CD itself. In fact, when I bought it, my intention was to purchase the full product since I received the student discount. How I ended up with a upgrade version is unknown. Grrr! And all this time I thought that to do a "clean install" with repartitioning the disks required to version complete. Apparently not. When I interrupted the process of partitioning I erased everything that said that there had already been a legitimate copy of XP on the PC.

  How do I know this? I took a glance at the PID found in I386\setupp.ini on the installation CD. My PID is 55276000, which indicates a version upgrade. (For those of you who want to understand what the code means do a search on 'xp product id list'. NOTE: This is NOT the product key that you enter during installation.)

  Anyway, there is my answer. So what I'll do? Pull on an old Win98 drive, install it and then upgrade from there.
