SCXI-1520

Hello

I have a 6036E PCI data acquisition card. I want to use the SCXI 1520 Signal conditioner for my measurements. What are the accessories necessary for the installation of the SCXI-1520 module.

Priyank

Hi Priyankbit,

You would need to have a SCXI chassis with 1349 SCXI with cable Pin E Series DAQ 68 - 68 (SH68-68-EP) to connect the SCXI-1520 and connected to the PCI-6036E. You may need to have the connection to the SCXI-1520 block to connect your sensors to the SCXI-1520.

In detail, you can consult the SCXI page.

I hope this helps

I have a SCXI-1000 chassis with the scxi-1520 module and the scxi-1314 terminal block and I was wondering how to do a calibration on it?  What I have to send back them to OR for calibration or I can send it to a local company to perform the calibration?  If I can send it to a local provider, what the procedure would be to calibrate?  According to the manual of the module scxi-1314, everything we do is check the resistance and for the scxi-1520, it performs internal calibration.  Is this correct?

    Hi Ron,

You can send them to OR get these calibrated, or you may have a local company. Manual calibration procedures are available herefor many of our products online. Here are the procedures of calibration of 1314and 1520.

Other issues on the calibration should be directed to ni.com/calibration.

  • Using the SCXI-1520 module for measurement of torque

    Hello

I'm working on a project that requires a measument couple in real time on a speed-shaft drivetrain configuration phase.

I have the SCXI-1520 module, and I think with a with a configuration of full-bridge strain gauge to do this.

The problem is that it is not possible to connect to a real-time measurement, so my first solution was using some sort of wireless transmission to receive data in the SCXI-1520 module

The Arduino + Xbee seems to be the best way to go, but at the same time, I think I might have a few problems of conditioning of the signal while transmitting data to LabVIEW through the SCXI-1520.

Don't you think it's the best way to do it, or is there a better solution?

    Thank you!

    Hi Kenny,

What type of operating system are you using? When you say 'Real time', do you mean look at a signal when it occurs? If you use communication networks, you will not be able to get truly control in real-time because communication networks is not deterministic, and you cannot guarantee the synchronization.

If you try to get a signal and he discovers that you buy it, you should be able to use the Arduino and LIFA with LabVIEW. Adding the SCXI-1520 will not add any additional resolution in this circumstance.

  • PCI-6052E and SCXI-1520

    Hi all

I had problems to understand the program to someone. Could someone of you help out me?

These programs are written in Labview 6.x and integrated in a software, which can detect the DAQ (PCI-6052E) card, a series of input modules (SCXI-1520) and then collect the data from the input modules simutanously.

    Issues related to the:

    1. how to make a menu drop-down list all the modules detected, and then the customer can choose between them? Looks like the former programmer do that with property node...

    2. now, we have a new input module (SCXI-1530). However, the software says it can only suppor SCXI-1531 and cannot detect SCXI-1530, although MAX can do. The difference between SCXI-1530 (4 channels) and SCXI-1531 (8 channels) is the number of channels. It is possible to modify the software and make it compatible with SCXI-1530?

    All ideas are appericiated.

    Thank you

    Hi oly.

You're right, aid for SCXI Information.vi does not have the types of module for SCXI-1530/1531. The function C (SCXI_Get_Module_Info) in the Start Menu > all programs > National Instruments > NOR-DAQ > traditional NOR-DAQ function reference Help contains 48: SCXI-1531; 50: SCXI-1530.

  • Rear connector of the SCXI-1520 module as input?

    Good morning,
Regarding connectors on the SCXI-1520, is it possible to use the rear connector as a 68-pin input (instead of an output)?
I have the following hardware and wanted to know if it's feasible to pipe a signal from an SC-2345 to a PC through the path below.
NI SC-2345 (Signal Cond. Block)  --> NI SCXI 1520 (Universal Strain/Bridge) via 68-pin cable   -->  NI SCXI 1600 (USB Digitizer Card) --> PC
    Thanks

    Hello hma1,

Unfortunately, you will not be able to do.  The only "entry" would be taken in chassis cascading signals.

  • Name of the traditional model DAQ and SCXI-1530

    Hi all

I'm using Labview 6.1 and 7.1 of DAQ traditional. I'm working on a system with a data acquisition card (PCI-6052E) and several SCXI (1520, 1530) cards. The SCXI cards are installed correctly because MAX can detect all.

I want to do a program with traditional DAQ that allows to detect all SCXI cards and Show names of model on the front panel.

I found in Tradtional DAQ, there is a VI entitled "Get SCXI information", which returns the types of models of SCXI cards, something like, 50, 51...

I found in the help file on 'Get SCXI Information' VI there are some kind of configuration file saying 51 stands for SCXI-1520. What does the acronym for 50?  Where can I find the full configuration file or can somehow I change it? As 51 means something else...

Any ideas are much appreciated... Thanks to you all!

If anyone can explane how all these SCXI-1520 multiplex LabVIEW cards that would help a lot.

    Thank you.

OK, I found the solution to this problem.

The SCXI-1600 multiplexes based on which channels have set you up.  I simply add all 72 channels to the taskh (1) with the function DAQmxCreateAIStrainGageChan (...) then my samples are multiplied by the number of channels, I added.

  • Breakpoint of position synchronization

    Hello

I run an application where I am synchronization of data acquisition with the engine query step by step using the breakpoint of my motion controller feature.  Ideally, I would like to synchronize the start of data acquisition with a known position of the engine within 1ms.

The way I currently have the updated code in place, my motor and encoder initially begin to zero steps/count indictment, then move in a negative way.  I want to start pretty close to the start of the query the DAQ (the exact time is not serious, but I need to measure accurately the corresponding position); to do this, I put my breakpoint to trigger when the encoder position is-1.  However, looking at the position of the encoder measured (using reading encoder Position.flx), it is clear that the encoder "jumps" from 0 to-10 steps as the engine passes through the first stage.  According to the angular speed of the motor, this takes ~ 5ms.

So I guess my question is, even if the breakpoint is set at-1 he will actually trigger when the encoder reads - 10 since he does not exactly 1?  Or do I somehow interpolate between the measures of 0 and -10 to estimate the moment that the rail - 1 Encoder?

I use a PXI-7354 controller and an acquisition of data PXI-6229 mounted into a chassis SMU-1062 q.  Data acquisition is connected to a module SCXI-1520 strain gauge with a SCXI-1314 mounting block (I don't think that what counts in what concerns the latency relaxation time).  My engines are set to 400 steps/rev and the corresponding encoders are 4000counts/rev; they are connected to the controller of movement through a UMI-7774.

Thank you in advance for your help!

    Matt

    Greetings, Matt;

I apologize, I did some research but assumed that I must have forgotten to post it.

After discussion with someone in R & D, it seems that the breakpoint is triggered when the encoder transmits the brand-1. Now, if there is a reading when the encoder is in the - 10, he can score in the software that the engine stopped to of-10. However, because the case is done at the hardware level, the pulse will be sent exactly at what time the encoder through this point-1.

Again, I apologize for the delay and wish you a nice day.

    Best regards;

    Simon P.

  • Track and start relaxing

When the operation of the track occurs compared to start triggering?  I use a 6030E with a SCXI-1520/1125 module and I have a trigger for external start for the task, but I would use to remove the offset of (once implemented) profiles.  It * seems * like it occurs prior to departure, but I assure you.  Also, how samples path use average?  Does it take into account filter settling time when switching on the channel of the Earth?

    Thanks,-Bob

For the track once, put real acquisition indeed happens prior to departure.  Specifically, it occurs when the task goes to the State of "reserved".  This happens automatically when you call the DAQmx Start vi, or you can force explicitly that it will occur by calling the control task DAQmx with the parameter 'action' to 'book '.

For the acquisition of the track, DAQmx try to read 100 samples 1KS/s (0.1 seconds of data).  If it's too fast for the specific task, the pilot takes then a second data at the fastest legal rate. And Yes, DAQmx only takes into account various filter settling time including settling time to switch to the channel of the Earth.

  • Strain Gage Calibration Wizard in MAX

    V MAX 4.6.0f1

I have gauges 1/4 bridge connected to the SCXI-1314/SCXI-1520 module 3ea.  Strain Gage Calibration Wizard will only perform a reliable "Offset Null" if I create a global virtual channel for each individual gage.  If I create a task NIDaq-MX, none of the templates will be "offset null" correctly.

This is a problem because I use VI Logger.  VI Logger only accepts the tasks, not a global set of virtual channels.  Why the wizard of calibration of strain Gage works only on each global virtual channel?

I hate to reply to my own post, but: "Autozero" mode must be set to OFF, never ONCE.  Apparently, who raises the calibration askew.

  • "Bridge shun cal.vi" shunted the setting of the value?

I copied the "bridge shun cal.vi" LabView example "Acq gauges bridge samples (with calibration) .vi", to include in a strain measuring .vi I'm working.

My equipment consists of an SCXI-1001 chassis, modules of 1520 and 1314.

That means the acronym for setting the value of "Shunted"? Resistance value of triage (in ohms, I supouse)?

And it's less important to me, but think it may be interesting for others: how to choose between the calibration shunt resistance is or B?

    Thank you

    usuario

    Hi user,.

You are right when you say 'shunt resistance' in VI stands "DAQmx perform Shunt calibration (bridge)" for the value of shunt in ohm resistance. As you can see on page 4 of the SCXI-1314 manual, the two shunt calibration resistors A and B are have a value of 100 kohm. In addition, page 4-28 the SCXI-1520 user manual specifies that they are are in style RN-55 (standard 1/4 W).

Choosing to respect so shunt calibration resistance A or B, the latter manual mentions on page 3-4 that "shunt calibration switches A and B are parameters of control of software that allow or activate or deactivate the shunt calibration resistors in order to form win calibration." In most cases, you do not explicitly switches shunt calibration check, he makes instead of software driver to automatically adjust them for you during the shunt calibration procedure automated. However, if you want to explicitly control the witches of calibration, you can write an application program which controls the shunt calibration switches.' and returns the user to Chapter 4, principle of operation, for more information.

    I hope this helps.

  • Is there a single SCXI module adapted to the entries for mixed probes?

I'm trying to set up an SCXI system to receive signals from a number of different types of sensors. I have a large number of thermocouples for which I decided to use the SCXI-1102 module. I also have a unique pressure sensor (unknown spec so I'll assume type of strain gauge), a unique accelerometer (once again, unknown technique) and possibly a few tensions ahead right (unknown County and spec so assume - 10 v to + 10 v Beach max).

Is there a single SCXI module through which I can acquire voltage signals, accelerometer and pressure sensor? Or maybe just use 2 modules instead of 3 if I have a SCXI-1530 for my accelerometer and an another module for the tensions and the pressure transducer? I was watching the module SCXI-1121, which looks promising for the tensions and pressures but then was unsure as to what block of connection to use for the combination of signals (possibly, I could live with a - 5V to + 5 v range if necessary).

(Additional info: I use TC-2095 blocks with my SCXI-1102 module, can not really use spare entered on those voltage inflows).

    Thanks for any help.

    CASE NO.

    It's expensive,

Thanks for your inquiry. You obviously already did a lot of research on this issue. I fear that it is unlikely that you will be able to use a single SCXI module to perform any function you listed. Necessary accelerometers such air conditioning specialist, it will take a module - as you mentioned already, something like the 1530 (4 channel accelerometer input module) would be ideal.

However, you have a number of different options for the pressure, voltage and temperature measurements.

For example, you could buy a mudule 1520 for your measurements of pressure and then use a generalist 1102 b for voltage and temperature (need you the connection block insulated from 1303 to condition the thermocouple readings... and work around the CYC technology for pressure readings).

Or, you may use the module thermocouple 1102 for your temperature readings and then use a 1102 b to take pressure readings and the pressure. Of course, that would require making your own bridge to the pressure sensor configuration, but this should be pretty easy.

Before making any final decision, I would recommend that you call your local branch of the NC and speak with a sales representative. Perhaps, a member of the sales field staff might actually come see discuss you it face to face.

Finally, it looks like you have a number of ways relatively high for some of your reading, is why you decided to use the SCXI platform. I was just wondering if you had considered compact DAQ (cDAQ), which combines the DAQ hardware with signal conditioning. Top spec, ease of use, lower number of channels. Swings and roundabouts I guess.

I hope this has been of some use to you.

    Best wishes

  • pilots and SCXI?

    Hello

I have a SCXI-1000 chassis, with a 1100 unit, a unit of 1520 scxi and a 1600 scxi. Now when I connect, I get only a "USB not recognize unit."

I installed 9.1 OR DAQmx and LabVIEW 9.01 32bits, need more? I have never tried to use before SCXI.

    I got Windows7 64 bit.

    Thanks in advance.

For these devices, it is not currently planned to add support for 64-bit operating systems.  This is due to incompatibilities between these older devices USB design and implementation of USB in 64-bit version of Windows.

    Hi Marko,

Your SCXI module slot residing in is not important, but what is important is the module in which you use for communication.  Please follow this link which contains the rules for the connection of your SCXI modules to your DAQ hardware.
