"Search" folder to c: > search - Safe to delete?

Is it safe to delete the search folder, or at least its content, to C: > Search in Windows 7HP?

It is 4GBs & said that it has been changed to July 7, 2012.

I can list all of its subfolders - & their sizes - if necessary, but thought that first of all try the little question.

Hello, UKdeejay,

In a short answer to your question. Yes, it should be safe to delete the contents of this folder, because it is not that a default system folder is not any ill effect.

What I would recommend do you is to go in this folder, make a copy of the entire folder and put it on a USB key if you have one available.

If you do not have a reader available flash just make a copy and place it somewhere on your computer where you know where it is. After this delete the folder of your C: drive.

If you notice something that is not working properly immediately after the deletion of the folder or simply move its contents the file copied to the C: drive.

If everything seems to work very well then your in the clear to delete the backup that you made.

I hope I could help with your problem. If you have any other questions, feel free to reply to this message.

Thanks for your time, have a good day.

Nothing in the Windows or Program Files and files their subfolders should be left alone.  You won't earn a significant amount of disk space, and you may cause to yourself untold trouble sleeping herein.  Use instead the provided Windows Disk Cleanup.  You can get to it by clicking on start-> computer, then click on the C: drive and click Properties.  On the general tab, you will see disk cleanup.  Use it and you will be safe (and not sorry).  Everything you personally placed on the computer can always be removed of course as long as you do not try to remove installed manually the software (use the programs and features in the control panel for this).

I hope this helps.  Good luck.

    Hi Conner,

Thanks for keeping us posted and share this information with us.

As Palcouk suggested, you can remove the "Windows.old" folder if you have saved data on the computer.

It is not possible for the drive to shrink. I would like you to check the amount of space on the hard disk after you remove the Windows.old folder.

Let us know if you have other questions about Windows in the future. We will be happy to help you.

I think I have a virus.  I see on my computer a few applications with and installed as of 2004.  The computer was purchased in 2007.  When I run it in safe mode, it works fine and all applications have a date of 2007 or newer.  Should I delete the programs of 2004? How can you know what is safe to delete?

    Hello

This is not an indication of malware. Could be those are placed on the
computer by the manufacturer of the system and that was the date that firstly, they prepared their
for massive installation, or if they did not set a date and be used arbitrarily.

    =============================================================

If you need search malware here's my recommendations - they will allow you to
scrutiny and the withdrawal without ending up with a load of spyware programs running
resident who can cause as many questions as the malware and may be more difficult to detect as the
    cause.

No one program cannot be used to detect and remove any malware. Added that often easy
to detect malicious software often comes with a much harder to detect and remove the payload. Then
its best to be thorough than paying the high price later now too. Check with them to one
extreme overkill point and then run the cleaning only when you are sure that the system is clean.

It can be made repeatedly in Mode safe - F8 tap that you start, however, you must also run

When we look at the available disk space on any partition C you must take into account all the partitions and you did not provide the information necessary to conduct a review. Please provide a copy of your system information file. Type system information in the search box above the Start button and press ENTER. Select file, Export and give the file a name noting where it is located. Please download your disk from sky to share with everyone and post a link here. • Is it safe to delete the original score after successful cloning?

I have a Mac mini mid2010. I swapped his optical drive to an SSD. Then I cloned the operating system partition and everything works perfectly. My question is whether it is safe to delete the original "Macintosh HD" that I cloned, or if there is a way to keep its files being accessible if I don't get them mixed up.

    Thank you

Delete the old folder on the internal drive home page only. I should leave everything alone in case you need to boot from this drive. However, in general, it is safe to reformat the hard drive. But it depends on what you plan to do with it.

  • Is it safe to delete old Update Service installers?

    Hello

Is it safe to delete the contents of the C:\ProgramData\National Instruments\Update Service\Installers? My PC has 7 GB of these files from 5 updates, and I want to delete them.

The software NOR must it always these installers for nothing?

    Thank you!

This folder currently holds downloads from the Update Service OR, if you go to file > Preferences you can see the folder where it stores its files (setting for another drive that is ideal to save space on the SSD drives).

Removal of thesse installers often can be a problem if you build installers for your applications and it wants to include hotfixes with the packages that you select. Patches are often released after shipments of disk so you can't just point to those media.

Otherwise, they are just the installation files and have zero effect on the use of your software from day to day.

Yes.  In fact, if you are using disk cleanup (start > run > cleanmgr.exe > OK) it will delete all files in this directory that have been consulted at least 7 days ago.

You can go directly to this folder by typing the folder in the start menu > run box and click OK.
