Select the appropriate boot device

I bought some DDR 512 MB RAM for my computer. I put it in the motherboard, with no problems. But when I start my computer, it comes to the top with the main screen which gives the choice of the collection system, the boot menu and the option of othe, then within 2 seconds, the screen goes all black and said "Reboot and select proper boot device or insert the media in the selected boot device and press a key." For the moment I still RAM into the motherboard, I have nothing plugged in the USB ports except for my mouse.

Hi Barda,

Please find the link below that matches the description of the cable from hard drive and how it is connected inside the tower for your computer.

http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c00639864

The edges of the metal panels can cut the skin. Make sure you do not drag the skin along any inside metal edge of the computer.

Hope this helps for you to find cable and make sure that the connection is put in place and you're back in business.

    Hello

This morning I started my first CS5 computer and got this message (see screen capture): "Reboot and select proper... boot device." »

I checked my raid settings.  All seem to find and in good health.  See the attached screenshots.

I see that under Raid set information, it says ' #000 Raid set: 4/4 disks: Normal.

I see no error in the newspaper

And I see that Member Raid value '5' is listed as 'free '.  (see screen capture)

BTW, I see in one of my Asus configuration screens than Sata 1-6 not "detected", but, if I remember, it's normal since I use an Areca ARC-1680 d-IX 12 - ports SAS RAID

I guess I have to do repairs on my raid.   But I think that this has nothing to do with the raid, since the raid seems to be 'healthy' and no errors in the log of the raid.  BTW, according to my notes, I have a "Raid 3"

    Any suggestions?

    Thank you

    Rowby,

On my system, which also has an Areca controller, but a Gigabyte motherboard, if the "boot" order gets reconfigured by the system BIOS, that it will not start.

Assuming that your Asus has something similar, make sure your Areca is at the top of the list.

My computer worked fine Windows Vista Home Premium. I stop him, he moved to another room, reconected everything and now it won't start. I just got this message:

First: Hardware Monitor with a lot of temperature and tensions etc.

You will probably have to open the computer case and check the cable from hard drive, graphics card, RAM, etc., to make sure everything is neat and tight fitting.

Remove cards, and then reinstall them using to ensure that they are properly installed.

  • system crashed, I need to select the first boot device in the boot menu...

What now?  Press and hold f8 at startup takes me the blue screen with 3 options 1) esc = boot menu 2) f10 = set up 3) f11 = system restore.  I don't have a disk to restore the system or boot disk.  What should I do

    +

Hello, thank you for using the Microsoft forums!

What happened when you "press f8 and went into the start menu. ?  You should have seen the inscription as:

'safe mode', "safe mode with networking", "last known good", etc. etc.  In these situations, it depends on what the computer or the user was doing when the computer crashed, what the line of resolution would result. Just from the top, select Safe mode and try to start.  If windows starts, there are probably a problem with drivers not loaded through a secure boot which only loads the windows drivers of base needed for windows open and run in a limited mode. While in safe mode, we will offer you the choice to use the SYSTEM RESTORE to restore your computer to an earlier point in time where everything worked well. In unknown situations, when I'm in front of a computer when you know not what caused the accident, I take a point of restoring older and not the most recent one, preferably a machine made on its own schedule, not a constraint by a device or driver installation. Note that a SafeMode restore is not generally reversible, i.e. canoe must be cancelled at the point before the restoration (in this case, the condition has crashed), yet other points before and after can be subsequently used.

Once you have done this, or even before, if you would not rather try this again, you can use Event Viewer to try to find out what happened before the crash. Check the system and application logs, for the latest entries and repost here about this if you need help with the content of the newspapers, and we will try to help you. Alternatively, if you get it running, then you can visit this site to help you with additional questions. This is the new, free and fully automated from MICROSOFT support portal, and it can help you with most of the problems windows with a few mouse clicks.

    Hello guys

    I need help

    Here's what happens:

I was surfing on the internet and then suddenly I heard a ticking sound coming from somewhere near the hardrive so I took off my computer cause laptop (asus 1000HE) I freaked out. Its my first time to hear the ticking. I turned on my laptop and then a message "reboot and select proper boot device." Or insert boot media in selected boot device and press a key. "When I read the message I thought that my hardrive is maybe damaged. I asked my friend, and yes it says its corrupt. He said that I had to format my laptop, but I had a few important files there. I found a few solutions in google and youtube, I can't explain it clearly, but what their practice is really different. I tried to follow their instructions, but when I get to the start part things get complicated. Priority widget does not work. I'm really new to this.

If my story is confusing, please comment below.

How can I recover my files if formatting is necessary

    DON'T

Fabric is more indicative of a real hardware problem as a hard drive failed.  I would try to boot from win 7 dvd and see if you can do a repair installation.  If you take the BACKUP OS NOW and then go to the preparer Hd download their utility check HD and run it.

If you are unable to start win 7 dvd your options are extremely limited

  • Hi, install SSD on Acer Aspire VN7 - 591 G-70RT and setting for the primary boot device?

    Hello

I have an Acer Aspire VN7 - 591 G-70RT that came with a Western Digital blue 5400 RPM HARD drive which is limitation of my performance of laptops. I contacted Acer recently to ask for upgrades that might be made and they confirmed that I could build an SSD 256 GB and up to 16 GB of ram.

I bought an SSD now and install, but I wanted to ask how I could continue on the definition of the SSD as my main drive.

At this point, I guess I could install the SSD, then select it as primary boot device in the BIOS by pressing F2, and then install windows 10 via my USB. If this should be good to reboot or the existence of windows on my current HARD drive causes a conflict?

    Thank you

I have the device works now and here's what I did.

    WEAR AN ANTI STATIC BAND:

Step 1) remove all the screws on the underside of the laptop

Step 2) use spudger or credit GENTLY lift a gap between the keyboard and the base, then use the credit card to slide slowly into the space to jump open clips, NOT FORCE.

Step 3) (OPTIONAL) remove the keyboard connectors by moving clip and gently remove the cable from the Jack. However the HARD drive slipped in for me without necessary to detach.

Step 4) unplug original WD HDD blue reversing the clip and disconnect the cable

Step 5) close laptop together and boot with Windows 10 USB install

Step 6) install windows on new SSD (for me windows automatically activated via the BIOS/UEFI) if it doesn't happen for you, simply re-attatch the original HARD disk.

Step 7) if the activation is successful, again set HARD drive and original format. I have kept all the original ACER RECOVERY and Partitions (Healthy) in case I need to restore factory default, but formatted primary partition.

  • In the BIOS boot device options

    Hello

I want to use my USB to be bootable since my laptop Winxdows XP.  When I go to the BIOS to change the settings,

    the Boot Options available are:

    Startup CD-ROM (ENABLE)

    Boot disk (ENABLE)

    (DISABLE) internal network card boot

    BOOT ORDER

    USB disk on key

    USB floppy drive

    CD-ROM ATAPI CD/DVD drive

    Portable hard drive

    USB hard drive

    Network card

Please indicate which of these Boot Options should I 'ACTIVATE' and

that the boot ORDER should I choose to be at the top: -.

    1. If I want to boot from my USB key USB

    2. If I want to boot my Portable external hard drive

    3. If I want to boot from my CD/DVD Rom

    4. If I want to boot from my laptop

The "boot" of Word to say 'start' in language computer, right?

So if I chose to boot from my USB key, my laptop cannot start to load Windows XP because it normal would be more until I go back to the BIOS to change the setting?

Why cannot it not auto answer to the user's choice to start the Windows?

BTW, what does "Starting the internal network card" means?

    Please notify.

    Thank you

    glemel

To see if you can boot from a USB key, you must go into your BIOS and look at the boot order.  If you see "USB stick" in the list, then you can probably - but it should be placed in the order before the drive hard to make it work.

If you want a boot disc/USB drive for repair purposes, I highly recommend the free Hirens Boot CD.  This CD comes with a bunch of diagnosis and repair integrated tools.  If you can't fix it with this CD, it cannot be fixed without having to reinstall Windows.  Of course, this is not Microsoft.

    Download Hirens: <> http://www.hirensbootcd.org/download/ >
Don't be fooled by the fake download links.  The correct link is a file .zip downstairs in a light green rectangle with a drive icon.

  • By selecting the appropriate parameters for a new project

I'm about to start my first project with Premiere Elements and the final result for the project be must be a H264 or "WMV" file that can be uploaded to an FTP site.  It will also be displayed in front of a group on a screen (size is 7.5 ' x 10'.)

What is the most optimal project settings that I use when I start the new project?  Something in the AVCHD category?  (With the help of NTSC).

    Thank you!

(Sorry... This is a repost... I accidentally sent in the PS forum at the beginning).

With the Audio and still Images ONLY, you can go with 1920 x 1080, full HD at 30 fps (NTSC) or 25 FPS (PAL), depending on where you live.

For images, I'd like to see this ARTICLE. Note: it was written when SD was the norm, but as HD took over, sizes have been faced to understand this, as well.

Images of PowerPoint may be problematic, but recent versions of the program can export slides as TIFF Images. I would like to keep as much of the material as possible in PSD native Photoshop, PNG or TIFF. Unless you start with formats JPEG, I would not save Images in JPEG, to keep this stage of compression on the mixture. Many have found with PowerPoint slides, they are better off starting from scratch and those in Photoshop or Illustrator maybe build. If you go with Illustrator or similar vector Art program, I would import into Photoshop and not the pixelation, rather than import the Images of AI in pre and use it for the pixelation.

If you have any music (the narration must be PCM/WAV at first), I have that converting to PCM/WAV, if IE MP3.

    Good luck
