Server 2008 on a 2003 domain

I currently have a Windows Server 2003 SP2 domain and I want to add a member server from 2008. Domain controllers are 2003. Do I have to update announcement for 2008 or I can run Server 2008 as a member of the domain to 2003 server.

Thanks for any help.

Thank you Tommy-thank you for your response.

  • ACS any Version with Windows Server 2008 R2 64-bit domain controller

    Hi all

Is there any version of ACS is currently working with Windows Server 2008 R2 domain controllers?

Our server controls has recently upgraded domain controllers to 2008r2 and off 2003 servers. This did not our ACS 4.1.4 really happy.

I read now serveral messages about problems with the ACS and Server 2008r2 and hope to find a solution (not to mention that switching to LDAP, yukk).

    Thank you

ACS currently cannot be installed on a server running Windows 2008 R2.

As an alternative, you can install ACS on a member server.  Authentication

ACS uses the local machine net API authentication both compared to a 2008

R2 domain will work.  The Remote Agent can also be installed on a 2008 R2

    Server if you use devices.

If you install ACS on a member instead server here is how to configure services

to authenticate properly with the domain:

  • Model of Windows Server 2008 R2 will not domain join

    Hello.

I made a few model of Windows Server 2008 R2 to our esx 4 update 1 hosts.

My isue is that these servers will not join the domain with the customization, I did. I know I use the right user (with appropriate rights) because I use the same user on other models.

Does anyone else have this problem?

    Do I did wrong?

    Hi all

If you guys have tried to enter the area do not use the NetBIOS name? In other words... Please try entering the domain FULL of the domain name.

Also make sure that the connection is entered with the UPN and not the pre-Windows 2000 format, in other words: username@FQDN instead of user domain\username

    Thank you!

  • The client (Windows XP, Vista, Windows 7) users can connect to Microsoft Small Business Server 2008?

    Dear all,

I intend to install on Server 2008 SBS Active Directory domain controller. In this session, I would like to know the client users can connect to the SBS server or not. If CAN, I want to know the steps & solutions on this answer and if NOT, why the clients could not connect to the SBS server.

Server 2008 SBS can also be installed on the sequence of steps:
SBS 2008 (AD, Exchange Server, SQL 2005 or 08, CRM4.0). It depends on the situation of the organization.

I really want to know that, if we install steps on SBS 2008 above, can clients connect to the server?

    Kind regards

  • Windows server 2008 r2 domain controller deletes printers on windows 2003 Server

We have recently installed two new Windows Server 2008 R2 servers in our field.  one of the new servers is the new domain controller (successor of Windows Server 2003 SBS, which has been decommissioned).  There are two other Windows 2003 servers in the domain.  When we turn off all servers for maintenance and then power them back on, the print on the windows 2003 Server spooler crashes; printers are deleted and the server does not allow you to add printers.  is this be caused by some settings in windows server 2008 r2?  This happened twice, and the solution is to rub the print on the windows 2003 Server spooler and reinstall the printers from scratch.

  • Windows Server 2008 R2, with two Windows Storage Server 2003 Standard: How can I add the MAC authentication on top of Active Directory authentication for a storage servers?

I have two running Windows Storage Server 2003 storage servers in a domain R2 Windows Server 2008 Standard.  On top of the Active Directory authentication, I want to add authentication of MAC address for the access to one of the storage servers.  In this scenario, an authenticated user is unable to log on to the target storage server unless the user is also on one of the computers MAC address accepted.  All domain users will have access to other folders and files as configuration storage server in Active Directory.  I already have a user access to installation by the permissions for folders on the storage server target, but I still want to restrict access to specific computers as well.  For what it's worth the server hardware is HP Proliant DL360 G5 for the Standard Server 2008 R2 and server HP Proliant DL185 G5 for two Storage Server 2003 computers.  I don't want to have MAC address authentication as the main means of access control to the network, only for the storage server a as an addition to control Active Directory.

Hello. I ' using server2008r2 on virtualbox. I'm going through the 70-640 exam.

I went through the steps described in this article http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee957044 (WS.10) .aspx to add domain users rights to login locally. I ran gpupdate/force and me rebooted the machine, but I can not yet connect locally. I get "you cannot connect because the logon method, you use is not allowed on this computer.

    Any ideas?

I changed the default domain policy Instead of the default domain controllers policy. ::) Works now.
