I have install Vista Pro on my laptop at home with me and wife that both put in place as administrators. I recently reinstalled (Clean) Windows Vista and am trying to reload all data and software.

I have successfully set up Win Fax under my account and power send & receive faxes, but when I tried to put in place the fax under my wife account I get the error prompt:

"An error has occurred. Try again or contact your system administrator. »

Prior to the re - install, I have had no trouble creating and directing Win Fax in both accounts.

  • OfficeJet Pro 8610 - error setting up Fax Wizard I don't use a proper phone cord

I have a single line by Time Warner Cable telephone system that is a set which includes the cable TV, internet connection of road runner and digital phone. I use a system of wireless phone with a stand-alone answering machine which works very well.

I'll just put up my new printer Officejet Pro 8610 and crossed the Fax Setup Wizard to use my voice single line telephone and fax system just as I did with my old HP Multifunction printer it replaces.

Everything seemed to connect and to work very well when one had the Fax Wizard to perform the test at the end of the installation procedure. As a precaution, I ran the consecutive times to test with the answering machine turned on and turned off and twice he spent in all categories, and once it failed to indicate that the phone cord was not the right kind.

I used the RJ11 cable supplied with the printer, but it wasn't enough long reach the phone in the wall jack that I connected an additional RJ11 cord so it would reach. So the two cords to have only 2 pods as they should.

I am trying to determine why I get together and pass and fails with the same set up?  If I need one RJ11 telephone plug cord in the wall to the printer?  Or am I running a subsequent wizard test too soon after a previous?

I would appreciate any comments or suggestions about the reason that I feel this inconsistency.

    Thank you

    Hi coollx,

    Welcome to the HP Forums!

I understand that your HP Officejet pro 8610 is indicating that you are using the wrong phone cord. I'm happy to help you with this problem of Fax!

It is possible that what you need is a cord of unique phone from the telephone jack in the wall to the printer.

I recommend to read these faxes guides:

I hope this information helps and thank you for posting!

Is there a way I could send a fax from my computer through my phone line broadband at home?

      Concerning

In general, you must have a modem fax, internal or external, to send a fax via the telephone system. There are a few fax services based on the web that you can watch.

    http://www.Google.com/#hl=en&expIds=17259, 25900,26446, 26515 & sugexp = ldymls & xhr = t & q = fax + to + web & cp = 8 & pf = p & sclient = psy & aq = f & AQI = g4g - o1 & aql = & oq = fax + to + w & gs_rfai = & pbx = 1 & fp = 5d0b50e146560710

Here are some fax USB based modems in case you want to go this route.

  • Setting the distinctive ring for faxes incoming guard reset itself

    Hello

I recently installed an Officejet 4500 and in Fax Setup Wizard, I have selected 'no' to have a distinctive ring for faxes.  I tried but I can not receive incoming faxes, and I noticed that when I run the installer again all my previous information was recalled by the choice of the adjustment ring has been changed to "distinctive ring".

    All advice is appreciated.

Yor fax does not hear FAX tones if your answering MACHINE picks up...

Now, you can set your FAX to revisit lower than your VOICEMAIL rings... and it can work.

    * but then your voicemail will get not all messages, because your fax machine will answer your calls...

  • Not sure how to set up Windows Fax Scan &

Original title: "Windows fax and scan"

I'm not sure how set the computer to my phone... it is already connected to the internet... If I understand correctly... I think so..

If you use a dial-up connection, then the line is indeed already used with the internet.  You can do this through the internet, and you may not use this same line while it is used for the internet.  You need an analog (non-digital) line separated with a fax modem or (one in your system) be bound separately or you need to switch back if it is a good analog line and you have everything you need to fax. Here's how to set up fax and scan:http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-vista/Set-up-your-computer-to-send-and-receive-faxes.  Here's a FAQ on Windows Fax and scan, which can also help to answer your questions:http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-vista/Faxing-frequently-asked-questions.

    I hope this helps.

  • HP Officejet Pro 8600: Recently a fax pops up when I try to print photos and the picture does not print

We have a printer all-in-one HP Officejet Pro 8600 operating from a desktop HP with Windows 7. Recently, in the last two weeks my wife told me, we cannot print photos. The documents appear to be printed without a problem, but when trying to print a photo we get a window titled 'Send Fax - HP Officejet Pro 8600'. We have never used or even hung fax capablitly since we have owned this printer (maybe 2-3 years). All of a sudden, this window is displayed when we try to print a photo and the photo does not print.  I can't tell you that my wife did not hit accidentally a wrong button somewhere down the line, but she says she does not. I tried to attach a screenshot of the window, but for some reason that it does not take it. It's probably something very simple, but technically challenged myself, I can't understand. Help, please.

    Thank you

    Vince Pellerito

Print picture of what program?  Some programs to keep their own default values for the printer.  It seems that the default printer for the printing of the photo program has been set to Fax.  Try to open the program, select the Officejet Pro 8600 as the printer rather than the Officejet Pro 8600 fax.

  • HP Laserjet m1212nf mfp printer: cannot set RINGS TO ANSWER

    Hello

I have the printer HP Laserjet 1212nf.

It works very well in the past.

The fax was not connected during the last year.

Now, I reconnected and I can't send or receive faxes.

I also see that I can't set the number of rings to answer - is what I see on the fax screen: 0 (0-0)

    Can it be fixed?

    Thanks to you all

    Hi @AmirTA,

Have you tried the reset I sent you private message?

If you can't change the settings of the printer, I would suggest to update the firmware of the printer: LJM1130_M1210_FW_Upgrade_Security_signed - 20150405.exe

It may be a hardware problem, if the options in the menu, you cannot change them.

You must use a cable 2 son.

Voicemail can interfere with faxes that crosses. One suggestion would be to get setup distinctive ring on the line or to disable voicemail.

You can set the fax to the manual, but you must press the printer button each time to receive the fax.

    Keep me posted. Thank you.
