Shortcomings of bandwidth able to SNMP

Hello!

I created a grapher of cacti bandwidth based on SNMP. Mark is usually 5 minutes, but I needed a resolution more so I put in place for 1 minute. It works great on everything, so the installation of Cacti is fine, but there is something odd about the statistics of the interface identified by a couple of 6506 devices.

I included a picture. The two graphs are the two ends of the same link. The graphics comes from the end of the ASR1002. The one on the bottom is taken from the other end, a Catalyst 6506 switch with a supervisor Sup720-3B.

Please note the following in the image:

* Gaps, where both have the same question: 1 minute.

* How the ASR as an upper limit of 130 to 140 Mbit/s. The 6506 is 180 to 200 Mbps, which seem to compensate for the shortcomings (at the lower limit of 70 to 80 MB/s).

Additional information:

* I used 'show statistical IG4/1 interfaces' in exact times of 1 minute to develop a table based on the reported 'Tanks In' manually and analyze on a worksheet. I found minimum and maximum extremes similar to those on the graph, instead of a smooth line as in the chart of the ASR.

* I have seen that happen in all interfaces of the 6506. I see this in other 6506 too. ASR is not affected.

* I tried to differentiate the interface to see the output of the two find no significant difference (KeepAlive, being the only big difference).

* The poller interval is global for cacti, so I can't fix the separate intervals, also, I need to have the resolution of 1 minute.

* Both ends of the link are load-interval of 5 minutes. However, because of how SNMP works, should not be just relevant to the readings of SNMP.

Someone has seen something similar? This is due to a misconfiguration or is this a limitation of the platform?

It was the only thing I could think and unfortunately not the right answer. 64-bit counters must be very well even with an interval of 1 minute. I had seen something similar with mrtg for years, with an interval of 5 minutes, anything above about 114 Mbps will give a picture as you see and changing to 64-bit counters was the difficulty.

Sorry, but I don't have any other suggestions for you (but I have to admit that I'm not familiar with the cactus).

    Hello

I have two cards FWSM in two 6513 switches with active failover.

Connected to the switches are several servers connected to different interfaces of the firewall. One of them is a HPOV (openview) needs the ARP table of the FWSM to reach and explore the net together to start to monitorize the network.

My problem is that I can't get the firewall ARP table, so I can't find out more devices, I am able to SNMP them by editing the poller SNMP in the configuration file of OVO, but even network devices is displayed, it cannot achieve the work.

    Angel,

You're right, '(IP - MIB) ARP table entries' MIB was introduced in 4.0 (1) and you have to upgrade to 4.0 code to get to the ARP Table via SNMP MIB.

And here is the document that contains information on the FWSM upgrade.

  • SNMP eat upward of bandwidth on my (HP officejet pro L7780) ethernet

Hi all, I am running Win 7 (64-bit) on my server, ethernet to a router from linksys gateway 3000. Attached to the same router the Ethernet is a HP OfficeJet Pro L7780 printer. I have a printer HP Deskjet 6988 ethernet attached to a hub (with a link to my linksys gigabit). There are many other devices Wi-wired and connected to this network. The problem I see is the following: I use a client of Wireshark network sniffer on my server. When you run a trace on the ethernet on the Linksys router, I see a large number of SNMP get requests and get responses. These are still ongoing between my server and the HP Officejet 7780 (never in/from) the HP Deskjet 6988.  This segment of my network is flooded with such things SNMP. You wish to know which packages are and how can I cut most of this. Surely, there must be something in the printer software HP on my server that can be tweaked to eliminate most (if not all) of this SNMP traffic...   Everyone?

You may also lose the ability to check your computer ink levels and some other utilities.  You may re-enable the services when you need to scan.  Stops the service and see what happens!  You can always enable it back.

The PowerConnect switches do not have the ability to show as much detail as the Force10 can. The RMON tables have an interface use %, what may be the closest we can do on the PowerConnect switch.

    #show rmon statistics

I've seen some monitoring software which was able to question the switch via SNMP and get some information of bandwidth. However, this can be a bit inconsistent, according to which switch and what software is used.

The MIBs/OID can be downloaded with the software switch.

  • Internet bandwidth economy with home sharing

    Hello

I did some quick research, but has not been able to find an answer to this...

I have an Apple TV 4 and I buy and stream iTunes movies and television on a regular basis. In an effort to save internet bandwidth, I wonder if I download movies / TV shows to my iMac and activate home sharing, will be my Apple TV then disseminate these to my iMac or will he continue to stream from the file iTunes servers?

    Thank you.

    Hi there Antonio0279,

Yes indeed you can save bandwidth by using home sharing to view media on your computers! You must go through the computers rather than the streaming app to say that iTunes and this article has more information on this topic:

    • To find shared libraries, go to the main menu, select computers, and then choose a library.
    • You can also view photos from your computer to your Apple TV: open iTunes on your computer. Then go to file > home sharing > select the Photos to share with the Apple TV.

From: use the share of the House to share content with other devices iTunes

Thank you for using communities of Apple Support.

  • Bandwidth sharing

Hello, y at - it a router that can automatically share the bandwidth?

We have a small company with about 10-20 connections using connection ADSL2 +.

When a person uses dropbox, everyone elses internet slows down to a crawl!

QoS functionality should be able to help to prioritize network traffic.

You may define computers using dropbox to be on low priority.

Visit this link on how QoS can be configured on our routers.

If this is not appropriate, perhaps you may need something like: feature balancing of load, which is available in our Enterprise routers.

  • WiFi 802.11 b, g, n (2.4 GHz and 5.0 GHz), why is the razr not able to use 5 GHz?

I was wondering why we are not able to use 5.0 GHz, does make a difference? Totally, I do not know. Maybe you guys can help me. Thank you!

(please not all values are estimated and not 100% accurate)

The only advantage on the 5 GHz will be noticed if you're less 1 mtr from the router once you pass the 1mtr threshold you will lose any advantage in speed so your phone will automatically be seleect the 2 GHz band.

5 GHz bandwidth may push your wifi connection up to 300Mbit while 2 GHz is limited to about 190Mbit

but on 802.11n distance plasys much of the speed you will actually recive therfore in the case of mobile phones there is no great advantage in the phone, a connection of 5 ghz as if you where to walk away from your router 3mtr aprox you up to 180Mbit in speed is (in my opinion) main reason why phones do not hold a connection of 5 ghz for a long time.

the 2 ghz range will be a higher speed over a longer distance (this is on 802.11n)

However if you have an 802. 11 a router then the benefits of the 5gzh is capped at 190mbit however, you can hold a stronger signal over a longer distance compared to 802.11n the problem here is that the routers are configured more to computers and personal computers portable therfore so they droped the 802. 11 a band and open until the speed 802.11n short-range can on long distance, is no great loss because your device will automatically change to load of bands on your remote (this can be demonstrated by your router at 5 GHz to lock if it supports doing so)

and you will also notice that your razr connect to band 5 GHz in the present case.

In required short is correct in the statement there is no advantage to 5 GHz running more than 2 GHz.

I hope this explains a little about your problems.

    Kind regards

  • Decimation filter bandwidth

Does anyone have information as to what the BW decimation filter is given at a certain rate of IQ?

For my application, it is more important to vary/control the BW around the carrier.  It would be useful to know how 'work backwards' IQ rate since it is the variable that uses the driver.

I'll assume the BW of rate and filter IQ have a fixed relationship regardless of the decimation factor, such as the relationship to the high rate of IQ (low decimation) is the same low IQ (strong decimation)?  Is there a "rule" calculation which could make me this info?

For what it's worth, setting speed IQ doesn't seem to be a very useful setting. On the contrary, you are more likely to know the bandwidth you want to capture, and then let simply decimation would produce based on that.  Otherwise... If you're not careful (or don't know what you're doing) you might inadvertently filter/decimate and eventually a small piece of BW glancing you think... all this in the name of lower rates of data streaming of the USRP.

The A/D NI with DDCS already seems to do.  You specify it given P.C. and SDC configures the decimation based on the nearest whole factor of the A/D sampling rate.  There is a handy little table in sheets which shows for a BW given, is that the IQ data resulting rate.  I'm basically looking for something similar for the USRP.

    Thank you!

    ---

    Brandon

This could be a subtle understanding, I won RF by thet rate bu IQ equipment is ultimately limiting your maximum bandwidth. How much this bandwidth is usable depends on a device. (True for the acquisition and generation)

In an ideal world, your IQ rate "would be tantamount to your bandwidth" (acquisition).  This is the general rule.  If you take a FFT on a number of samples at a rate of 10 MSa/s, you will find yourself with a frequency which extends MHz - 5 to + 5 MHz. If your signal uses this entire range of 10 MHz is not implied, but you would not be able to fully acquire a signal with a bandwidth greater than 10 MHz for sure.

The USRP has specific IQ rates it supports, so I season always re-reading the IQ rate under duress.  If you need to change your filter specifications or need more flexibility just decimate and only filter process, think I woud suggest to implement a filter software - your choice opens considerably as well as being able to choose a butterworth on a chebyshev and specifying the order of the filter, etc..

I also suggest reading this article as well from the GNU Radio page, it has a little more depth and background.

  • SNMP help please?

    Hello

I'm all new to SNMP, although I have used LabVIEW a few times in recent years. Office supplies for the moment, I am developing an application to test the power. We use a G756N Dell PDU for each switching power. I tried a couple of approaches to control and SNMP is the most promising so far. During my research I came across free ManageEngine MibBrowser and I could find the last MIB to download the firmware from Dell here. I was able to communicate with the UDA and points of sale under and out so far, but I really need to integrate control of the PDU in the application of LabVIEW to automate tests. I'm pinned Mark Yedinak and his APC PDU SNMP communication library, only the most recent of which I found examples in this thread.

I tried to do a VI to test communication in LabVIEW using the OID I received from MibBrowser, but it returns an error code 2, noSuchName. The PDU is configured to use SNMP v1 and the public and private communities write access +. I tried with and without the main point, but without success. I'm using LabVIEW 2013 64-bit. Could someone please review the information below and see what I could do wrong, or that the direction to take to solve the problems there?

  • JetAdmin SNMP v3 credentials lost

Hi, I recently inherited an instance of JetAdmin. My problem is that I do not know the SNMPv3 and password encryption used to put in place my cameras. I am able to change the password via the web interface of each individual printer but I know, if using JetAdmin, SNMP v3 has been installed, change the password on the web interface does not work.

The credentials are saved in the store of credentials, but I have no idea how to access. Any ideas on what are my options?

I can't change the password through JetAdmin because it requires current credentials first.

TLDR: Took over JetAdmin, need to reset SNMPv3 name of user and password for use with monitoring tools further

I work for HP, but my messages and responses are mine. .....

Sorry for the multiple responses SergZ...  Most of the JetDirect products do not allow the use of sentence the EWS interface.  Do newer, but I don't have details on the firmwares & models.  For this reason, it is impossible to synchronize a device w / global of WJA credentials store found under Tools, Options.  My last message well enough to start from scratch.  For this reason and another...

When HOSTS detects a device via V3, it assumes that a part of the management going in V3.  So, I gave you a few steps:

-go to the EWS device and completely disable the v3 (may want to clear the fields of credentials as part of this action, I'm not sure...)

-either run a discovery in HOSTS that re-capture this device w / no V3 enabled (you can also do selection refresh (full), but you must wait for a polling cycle to get the data device recaputred HOSTS, there is no good indication when that happens)

-HOSTS allows to set the new credentials and enable V3

-the identification of the document information!

I think that you will have success if you follow this path.  Let me know, thanks!

  • black bands - the problem of bandwidth - Vision Builder HAVE

    Hello

I have a problem with an app where I anime shows Vision Builder 4 on 1 computer. Everything seems to go well until after some time (sometimes minutes, sometimes half an hour) I get horizontal black stripes on my images.

I searched this forum and found many posts on this problem. However, I tried the various solutions that have been proposed and this does not seem to make a difference.

    Information:

    * 4 camera (Allied Manta G201C)

    * camera is triggered (rising edge) separately, but almost simultaneously.

    * PC: quadcore, 64-bit, Windows 7 64 bit system

    * Run-time Vision Builder 2012 license.

    * Programmed with Vision Builder HAVE 2012.

    * Switch: 1000 MB

    * Interface programmed in c# (receives images of the relevant info 4 programs and displays on the screen).

    Proven methods:

    * Sets the size of the packets to 1500 (even tried low size of package without improvement).

    * Set desired maximum bandwidth to 250 no improvement (was initially set at 1000 - we put it to 250 because there are 4 camera - even the 150 configuration does not seem to improve the situation.)

    * cursed a lot - but which did not help either.

    * Can use us a switch that does not fit our goal?

    * Our switch is placed with several engines around it (the closest on a meter away) and just behind a cabin of electricity in which there are several transformers. That reach our data?

    * Other suggestions?

    * Please let me know if you need additional information about this problem.

We expect our customers to visit us the week next to see if we will be able to start production and we are currently under enormous time pressure (and stress). So, any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • HP Officejet Pro 8620: Wireless connection is 'hogging' my bandwidth on router

Until this week, I have always connected my computer to my router via an ethernet cable direct. But recently I had to move my router to a different location so decided to use the wireless on my printer to connect to my computer (laptop). When I noticed that my wireless connection for the interest rate has been substantially reduced I started checking all computer products in my house (two IPAD, a desktop and my laptop). What I've discovered, it's my 8620 was "hogging" bandwidth of the connection to the router wireless. Even if the printer is not used (but on) he continues to reduce the speed of my connection to the computer. I discovered this by:

    (a) I disabled all the computers & IPADs, but left the printer on - the wireless light on the router keeps blinking like crazy

    (b) I turned off my printer with my computer and connection speed instantly jumped about 3 x the speed

So, with the printer off, the speed of my connection to the computer is about 3 times faster. I do not quite understand this and wonder why the printer connection to the wireless router is "hogging" bandwidth when the printer is not yet used?

    Someone has an idea?

    Hey @kenz1-_,.

    Welcome to the HP Forums.

I see that you are having problems with your router and your 8620 e-all-in-one printer Officejet. For this problem, you must contact the manufacturer of your router or one that provided you with the router for assistance.

  • MIB or possible SNMP OID on a LaserJet 4350

    Hello

I'm just checking my LaserJet 4350 Printer for printing dimensions, where the names, and State and so on. I can connect to SNMP and can get some OIDS with values they are, but I can't read because I can't find the specific MIB for this printer. I have an a 4050 and 4500 but most of them OID does not work!

Where can I find this MIB?

    Thanks a lot!

You should maybe contact HP and ask them if there is a better MIB document for your printer model.  Talking about them that you need assistance, analyzing the MIB for your printer.  First level technicians will not be able to help you, but they should be able to talk to an engineer who knows with certainty and relay the right information.

Most of the time I get to play and try out different ideas until I can isolate the correct OID.  I have not really digging into this area often enough to be effective at home.  See if you can hit some of the top level OID and then go in a deeper level at a time until you reach your destination.
