should I update wrt54gl firmware if any real problem?

Hello

I have been using my wrt54gl for about 6 months with no problems either :-)

I see that the latest firmware is 4.30.13, and I'm under 4.30.11.

I activated the wpa2, and I don't use of LELA.

Should I upgrade?

I'm afraid that something will be wrong and brick my router :-(

Thank you

Gordon

Here are the latest changes to the firmware.

Are these important security issues?

Firmware 4.30.13- Adds Linksys EasyLink Advisor (LELA) 3 support.- Resolves issue with not being able to conduct configuration backup when accessing the router via https.- Updates TZO protocol.

Firmware 4.30.12- Resolves issue with saving DHCP settings when using PPTP as Internet connection type.- Resolves security issues found by Tomaz Bratusa (Team Intell) related to session riding. Adds HTTP session timeout.- Updated PPTP Internet connection functionality- Resolves issue with setting management port when https is selected.

I would not upgrade unless you have enabled remote management or you have a real concern that someone might try to hack your router on your local network. All other issues not related to security.

    Hello:

I would contact HP technical support on this issue, if you are not very sure.

Support bulletin seems legit to me.

As I was connected the HP support Forum, this bulletin web page acknowledged that I signed.

If it wasn't true, I doubt that this would have been possible, as these pages are tightly linked through HP Passport sign in System.

Also look at the list of models to ensure that yours needs updating.

If you decide to run the update, make sure that you follow all the procedures to the letter.

An update of the firmware which has gone wrong will permanently damage your printer and most likely makes it unusable.

  • Update of firmware for 40TL963RB

    Good evening!

    I bought a Toshiba 40TL963RB TV.
However, after a collapsed while respond during startup (black screen and light green only).

I used flash USD to engrave some firmware.
However, this firmware was for television 40TL933.
For example, I burned 3 files (on my USB key):
    TL_MBOOT_545609_INIT_CLEAR.bin
    TL_MFC_246009_INIT_CLEAR.bin
    40TL933K_644087_INIT_CLEAR.bin

These files as firmware my TV works fine, wait for the DVB - T2.
I guess that this 40TL933 is not compatible DVB - T2,
However, my 40TL963RB should support DVB - T2 hardware (I read the specification).
However, the feature DVB - T2 has been lost during the combustion of the firmware.

I downloaded the latest firmware for 40TL963RB: tl963_993045.bin.
I have renamed it to 40TL963_INIT_CLEAR.bin.
television begins the process of updating the firmware, but unfortunately, it frozes (hangs up)
during the update firmware on 1% (always).

    Also I tried other firmwares: TL966, TL968, TL969, a version of 933.
The same result - hangs at 1% during the update.

    Any ideas?

I guess I need binary MBOOT & MFC binaries for my 40TL963. Am I wrong?

    Thank you very much!

In my opinion its very bad idea to use the firmware that is NOT specially released for your Smart TV.
I don t think that the use of this firmware not compatible could be very useful.

You said, your TV no longer responds to the start.
In my opinion there is nothing to do with the firmware of the TV because TV should work even if the firmware is not updated. I think that your TV equipment malfunctions.

I m not Smart specialist not in TV, but there is not a lot of parts that can be replaced: motherboard and LCD screen are the main components and I think that TV does not answer the needs of TVs one motherboard check

By the way: I found the firmware for model: 46TL963RB

  • How update the Firmware on my router?

I downloaded the firmware file of my router (WRT54GS V7) Linksis wireless because I have problems with the router itself reset while I play, but I can't understand how to install it.  The default program that wants to open the firmware file is VLC (a media player).  What should I do?

Edit: I'm trying to re - download the file firmware to see if that helps, but now the download links aren't working yet... What is happening here?

Edit 2: I also try to read the FAQ because it seems that they already have an answer to my question, but the answer page is not loading either.

The site is under maintenance or something?

The linksys Web site works fine now. If you still have problems, you must connect the computer directly to the modem for download.

You should not open the firmware file that upload you to the server. Do not open it with any application. Do not change under any circumstances. All you have to do is to download the file and upload it to the router through the web interface. Download the firmware on the linksys site. Save it to your desktop.

Then, open a browser and go to http://192.168.1.1/ which is the web interface of the router. The default password is "admin". Search for the function of the firmware upgrade. It's usually somewhere on the Administration tab. On the firmware upgrade page that you see a browse button to select the file to load on the router. Select the downloaded firmware file. Press the upgrade button.

Do not interrupt the download. It is recommended to disable any firewall or anti-virus while accessing the web interface for the firmware update. The process should not be interrupted. Otherwise you can find yourself with a router of bricks.

  • Uninstalling the WRT54GL firmware

Hello, I really hope someone can help!

I was successfully using my Linksys router for about a week now using 3 computers all system Ubuntu linux with the Firefox 3 browser.

Tonight, for some reason, I thought I should update the firmware. I do NOT have a warning no not for that than if I had problems at present (read as an afterthought in the user's manual!).

In any case, after updating the firmware per the instructions, I can view is no longer the url http://192.168.1.1 to update or edit my profile. I could go for the last days and even today (it's how I updated the firmware!) but now all of a sudden when I log on this page using "admin" as password, all I get is a confused mess.

I can see the colors of Linksys and the model of my router, but none from the drop-down list boxes work or have something in them. There are no longer clickable links on the page as 'administrator' or 'Wireless' etc. The page is useless to me and I have to be able to see and use it of course.

Everything was fine until what I've updated the firmware, then all messed up. You wish this message to me not saying NO firmware update would have been more obvious!

I'm editing and insertion of that paragraph to let you know that I also tried on a Windows computer using the browser Mozilla and Internet Explorer so now I'm absolutely sure, it is not a browser problem and is a firmware issue. Please help me to recover my router as it was. I see in the load that you can "set as default", but since I can't access the page I can't do that either.

Please tell me how I can cancel my update! What a waste... I have a product that I can't use now!

    Thank you all,

I'm sure that the rated requirements.

    I can print.

It is turned on and connected via USB.

There seems to not be any error/malfunction.

I have some unrecognized devices in Device Manager. Perhaps, which could be related? Something with the USB drivers, maybe?

    Hi mightyiam ,

Thanks for letting me know. Since you are able to print with the older USB cable, it should not be a problem. Now if you had intermittent printing problems, then it could very well be caused by the cable. If you have a spare a kicking around, you could try, just to exclude.

BIOS, iDRAC, Lifecycle Controller firmwares are newer. I tried to upgrade from iDRAC and directly from controller (using SUU) life cycle, the same thing. haven't tried yet the OS. I want to update firmware, because she refuses to get DHCP address when you try to boot from PXE to deploy the operating system. At the same time in the controller of lifecycle, in the configuration of the network, I was able to successfully get the addresses of the DHCP server and scan the Dell FTP site for firmware updates.

    Any ideas? Thank you.

  • Dell XPS 15 SSD NVMe slow after updating the firmware July 2016 and papillonné CPU (Core i7)

Edit: 9/2: title change intended to reflect issues of CPU throttling and discussion (second half of the thread)

I noticed a huge performance drag after updating the firmware and drivers of my XPS 15 9550. The update took place August 4, 2016.

Performance of my usual applications (Chrome, development tools and IDE, etc.) is dramatically lower. In general, I would say that things take about 3 times as long to arrive. I checked the CPU (normal), but also memory consumption (as normal) to discover that the problem is with the SSD drive.

On this laptop: 500 GB NVMe thnsn5512gpu7 NV (toshiba). Attached are the results of a benchmark with AS SSD. All write speeds are appalling, to say the least... that explains a lot, but I have no idea how to solve this problem, and whether or not it really relates to the latest firmware + update drivers provided by Dell.

(Note: I checked the BIOS, it seems that the SSD is currently configured in RAID mode.) Never touched this option before.)

Any idea? Other affected users in a similar way. Thanks in advance.

I managed to get the performance back by going to the properties of the disc and turn off windows write cache flushing heat. The two boxes should be checked. Write speed then went to about 1400 MB/s.

  • Installed the wrong update of Firmware for my HP Laserjet 1102w

There are two updates of firmware for the HP 1102w. An upgrade of the printer with Eprint mobile printing, and the other upgrades the printer with AirPrint services. Of course, I installed the wrong (eprint) and now the update of the firmware for AirPrint will not be installed because it says that the firmware is up to date. Does anyone know how to restore the firmware so that I can install the firmware with the features I want?

    Hello

Any firmware update providing the last additional functionality and any previous firmware fixes as well.

The latest firmware is version 20110826.

Please print a configuration page holding the Cancel button for several seconds.

I think that you should have the latest firmware now and should be able to use the Airprint feature.

Check that your printer is connected to the same network of your iDevice and following the steps below:

    Hi Jack,

Try to connect the printer to your computer via a direct USB connection, and then try to update the firmware and the check for the difference.

If the problem persists, try the steps in the post below, the same should apply for the 6500 has as following:

  • Update the Firmware SG500 - 52p

I downloaded the new firmware for the SG500.   In my view, there are two files included in the download, a startup file (rfb), and the image of the regular firmware (ros).   I looked and that you haven't seen something on the files of rfb.   I know this is a start of the file, but do not know if I should update the boot file first, then the firmware image or vice versa.   In addition, in my update on the SG500 screen, the boot file option is grayed out.  Maybe if I update the firmware first, then the boot file will be ungreyed?

Hi J, the boot image should not be the matching. Pre-production releases usually required special startup code upload procedures but post-production release switches (switch you purchased) start-up codes must load with the images of the firmware.

You should be able to load 1.3.0.59 software without problem.

If for any reason, the startup on the switch code is messed up, the switch would probably get RMA as field boot-recovery has still not supported.

I can tell you of my experiences of preproduction, the start-up codes is not something you want to face.

  • Update of firmware and drivers controller PowerEdge 2900

    Hello

I have server PowerEdge 2900. Current configuration I see on OMSA:

    BIOS version 2.3.1 (former)

    Controller PERC 6 / i integrated.
Version of the firmware is up to date.
    Firmware Version 6.0.2 - 0002
    Minimum Firmware Version 6.3.0 - 0001
    4.05.01.64 driver version
    6.1.7601.17577 Storport driver version

I need to upgrade the firmware of the controller and make the Windows updates on this server. My questions:

What is the correct order for the upgrade:

    1. Windows updates
    2. BIOS,
    3. ESM firware,
    4. Bottom of basket SAS firmware,
    5. Disk controller
    6. Firmware of the controller,
    My questions would be:
How can I verify ESM and bottom of basket SAS version of the firmware on my server, maybe I do not need to update those?
On the Dell support site, I could find only:
    Dell Server BIOS, 2.7.0Dell SAS Backplane Firmware, v.1.05, A01Dell BMC Firmware, v.2.50, A00Dell PERC 6/i Integrated, v.6.3.1-0003, A14

and how to find software to update the drivers:
    4.05.01.64 driver version
    6.1.7601.17577 Storport driver version
    ?
The Dell supports any automatic tool to collect and install the drivers and firmware required on a single server of Windows (except ITA)?
    Server is very critical, thanks,

Yes, it's safe.  It can be run from within the OS, or you can start on SBUU and serve Suu repository for update packages.

In most cases, it is easier to update of Windows, but it is not necessary.

    1. Windows updates
    2. BIOS,
    3. Environmentally sound management software (Yes, must be updated to BIOS).
    4. Bottom of basket SAS firmware (also needed),
    5. Controller driver (did you mean driver here? pilot, when it is available, it should be updated before... If current firmware to run 2008R2, new drivers are available through Microsoft Update - if available)
    6. The controller firmware
    7. The hard drive firmware
    8. NIC, DRAC, etc..

When / if get the support.dell.com site update files, use Packages to update for the format of Microsoft Windows.
