  • PC HP TS laptop: HP Support Assistant

I don't know if it's his fault, but after I did some automatic Windows Update my sound buttons and the sound no longer works. I then decided to try the audio driver updates that I had turned off in the support area assistant, this is where the real problem started. After that everything to do with function keys and her broken so I did a system restore to which the result was me not being able to log in. I would like to know if it is a virus or if it is an unknown problem with HP.

    Hi @Adam-Williamson.

    Welcome to the HP Forums!

It's a great place to find answers and advice!

You have the best experience in the HP forum, I would like to draw your attention to the Guide of the HP Forums.

Learn how to post and more

I understand that you upgraded to Windows 10 and after a Windows update, you lost your sound. Then, you installed the audio updates recommended the HP Support Assistant that you had been turned off. So you lost your sound, and the function keys did not work.  You then tried a system restore, but now you can not log on to Windows.

I suggest that if you have a Windows 10 image recovery that you use to perform a recovery.  If you do not then a clean install of Windows 10. Here is the link to get Windows 10, click on "use of the media creation tool" and click "perform a new installation using a USB or DVD"

Please let me know the results.

  • HP 14 laptop: HP Support Assistant

Hello everyone and good evening. I'm here to ask for clarification or help if my HPSA works correctly.

I just used my recovery partition / restored my pc to factory settings and noticed that when I open HPSA and choose an option to update: updates, but let me choose whether to download and install them. This setting will reflect or setting is not the same thing in my Windows Update settings.

I just want to clarify if this is normal?  and that this parameter has nothing to with the windows update settings.

    Thank you and good day.

    @Zinedane

It's a good question - and the answer is that the HPSA settings apply to the driver HP and software updates.  Normal behavior in your HP Support Assistant.

In point 8.1 of Windows, you have control over how / when Windows updates are applied to your computer.

Start the Windows Update program > change settings

You need to maybe uninstall and reinstall.

    I hope this helps.

  • HP G72-250US laptop: HP Support Assistant

My HPSA stopped working after receiving a message about Windows 10.I uninstalled it 3 times and reinstalled. It still does not. When I clicked on the icon to open the "HPSA homepage' but when I click next to open the home page that it does not. The Windows program compatibility shows that the HPSF is an Incompatible Application even before change

OPERATING SYSTEM. I f I am not mistaken, the latest version is 7.7.34.34. This means that if I switch to Windows 10 probably, I have more problems.

Please let me know what are the steps to follow. either way, I got the original and does not work either.

    Thank you

    Surprise!

When I tried to open the HPSA this morning as I in fact during these last two weeks, I was surprised that works correctly without any solution which is given to me. A HP technician called me telling me that it is recommended to the computer in a store.

This means that, apparently, the problem was the program. FYI, the program has been uninstalled and reistall 5 times, new version. And twice the reocvery for the original and did not work.

I'm used to seeing the blue Support Assistant of circular background of question mark icon located on the right side of my taskbar Windows in the notification area, just to the right of the up-carat for 'display the icons '.

It pinned icon Assistant decision-making support on the left side of my taskbar with icons for Windows Store File Explorer and other icons open programs.

I tried just dragging the icon Wizard help to the right of the Notification area of the taskbar, but that cannot be done. Please give me detailed instructions on how to get back the icon wizard helps to where I'm used to seeing.

    Hello

Another option, you may need to check is the following.

    Launch of HP Support Assistant.

Click the gable of parameters to the upper right.

In the following Panel, make sure the "show an icon in the taskbar" entry (see the option highlighted in the image below) is checked - if not, click in the box enter a tick, then click on the "Save" button.

HP Support Assistant does not work correctly. Try looking for updates/messages, it connects to the HP Server but then goes no further. I find myself with the following:

I've deleted and reinstalled, but it makes no difference.

(Interestingly, the HP support site is not recognizing my phone either on the option "identify now".)

    ENVY of HP dv7-7387er

Yesterday my HP Support Assistant showed a message that there are a few critical updates. I confirmed to download and install it. After it was something like the BIOS update. And now my computer will not boot (black screen, no sound, only power led is on). I have to postpone my trip to fix. Can help you with something?

I tried http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c01443371 , but it did not help.

Has been useful for me this: remove the battery, wait 1 hour, insert the battery, turn on the laptop and everything works ok. The key was - remove the battery for a long time.

  • HP Envy: HP Support Assistant is dead

Yesterday, HP support assistant downloaded updates and become cool and new-designed.

After the departure and new search for updates it found and installed 3 upades. I don't remember exactly, but it seems to me that the last was HP wireless.

On this last update of installation, he showed me a message that asked met serious problem and must be closed.

I closed it and that's it: now, it shows me this message to each launch of HP support assistant. So I can just close itor restart and see this message.

Does anyone know the solution for this?

First of all, you need to uninstall the software via the control panel. Once it is complete, restart your computer.

Then go to http://h18021.www1.hp.com/helpandsupport/hp-support-assistant.html and download and install the latest version for your laptop.

  • HP ENVY 17 Notebook: HP support Assistant constantly reported as 'Stopped working' in the reliability report

System recovered 5 days ago and reinstalled personal software. (HP 17 t-k000 CTO/Win 64 bit 8.1Pro)

Almost immediately HP Support Assistant would communicate with HP Server. The program has been downloaded and reinstalled more than a dozen times during the 5 days... .rebooting every time between installs / deletion. Download from different places in the website of HP... but always version 7.7.34.34A. HP cat could not help... like that, the program worked for a few minutes, even though I showed the tech "reliability report". (it's a play on words!)

After recovery was over and I used S.A. to update the operating system. The first time I used the program offered to me by 14 updates (so I guess that the program was "not" long before I got the operating system)... the program has shown the updates have been downloaded, but each time the update failed to install (X) next to the icon of installation. Restart the program again and selecting 'Check the HP updates now'... after displaying little pictorial showing ets connection/download... Returns a message... "No updates available". AND a new error is reported to the report reliability with the date and time. Now, in the last day or so IE11 has stopped responding... see below... Even typing this proved difficult because the page no longer!

Today, the Web page for this laptop shows there are 2 BIOS update F34A (May 22, 2015) and F.09 Rev.A (16 April 2015), but as there is no update available via S.A. I haven't installed these either... my latest information installed BIOS is F.34, 19/12/2014!

Battery/power cycling has solved nothing... "sfc/scannow" shows no error in operating system,.

    All suggestions accepted

    Thank you

    @Stu2009

Thank you for all the useful information. However, there is something that you're not quite right about. It is true that normally the default account created on a system, is normally an administrator account. However as a safety device which is part of the User Account Control (UAC), he essentially keeps running as a common user, then on an administrator account.

You can turn off UAC (I would not recommend that), or you can find the executable file of your programs, right click and compatibility mean that it runs as an administrator by default.

Most of the time that you actually benefit from privileges program not raise unnecessary, however. Only a handful of things really really need to access that provides the "Run as Administrator".

With regards to the BIOS, I would recommend that you try only a BIOS update if you are running in regular broadcasts normally. A wrong BIOS update can become a "brick" that requires a replacement of the Board of Directors, so for me it's one of those things you do only as a last resort, or if it's part of a fix recommended a functional system.

As these updates from CyberLink you can always try to install it manually if you need, since the support page for your system. And let me know if they still appear in HPSA, after a manual installation.
