  So, I guess my overall question is, what should I do? How can I fix?

  Try to repair the Apple Software Update of the programs and features Panel, remove it and then reinstall iTunes.

  Just out of curiosity, why all these steps? Why not simply do step 9?

  1. #9 step alone can not have solved the behaviour & we wanted to be certain that no "leftovers" Norton formed the scr3wing things.

  I recommend trying to install it manually. Try this:

  1. download an update for Windows Installer here:
  http://www.Microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=5A58B56F-60B6-4412-95B9-54D056D6F9F4&displaylang=en

  2. download the .NET Framework here Cleanup utility:
  http://blogs.msdn.com/astebner/attachment/8904493.ashx

  3 use the utility to remove all versions of the .NET Framework
  4 restart your computer

  5. download .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 from here:
  http://www.Microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=333325FD-AE52-4e35-B531-508D977D32A6&displaylang=en

  6. install the package, and then restart your computer
  7. go to Windows Update and try updating your system

  You should not lose anything that is backed up previously and it should be recognized, you are only updated version.

  I use a laptop which has downgraded from Vista Home to Windowx XP Pro w / SP2 (although maybe it's not relevant). Issues installing security updates through Windows Update before today have never known. I am prompted to install the update from a security XP KB956744, what I have done. I installed it through Windows Update and automatic command prompt directly. I even posted the update as something to ignore, but I am always prompted to install it. I also tried to uninstall the version on my machine, and then reinstall the update, but I am always prompted to install it.

  Two questions:
  1. because I received a prompt saying that it has been successfully installed and it appears in Add/Remove Programs, I can safely assume that it has been installed successfully even if I continue to prompt to install it?
  2. If my previous question is true, how can I window update to ignore this update even if I have already reported as such by the normal means?

  Go to add or remove programs and look for the KB956744-security update and remove it.

  Download the stand-alone package of KB956744-security update

  Restart the computer and boot into safe mode by pressing F8 during the restart, and then press and selecxt safe mode.

  Install the downloaded file update in safe mode.

  I've been at this for 2 days now tryng to get 10 win using the Link software to detect my Z10.

  running troiuble shooter, it indicates one or several network protocols are missing on this computer. It says underneath lack Windows Sockets registry entries required for network connectivity.     I had MS come on my PC and it could not resolve either. To talk to BB? I see in Device Mgr it connects because it shows a green light on the icon for the USB connection. Yes, I have the right cable. I was, for several years connection was not until we got the Windows 10 update has happened. So plase come back to me if you have an idea to try?

  Running Vista 32-bit. keep them advised/offered (daily) as the following updates are available: 2533523 KB; 2468871; 2539636 and 2487367. However, these were all installed several times and installation was successful, as evidenced by the updated history file. Help!

  Just got my new Z10.

  My old 9800 Curve works very well.

  Installed the link.  Connected the 9800 and it created a backup file.

  Connected the Z10 and it was recognized.

  The backup file appears, can be selected and it shows 11.4 MB

  When I click on restore, it tells me it is restore, however it shows only transfer 399 k

  There is no data from the old phone appearing on the Z10 after restoring.

  Am I missing something?

  Since the Z10 does not do these basic as Outlook synchronization functions, transfer the old installation of the BB program or work with some e-mail systems, I went back today to Rogers and told them to push!

  I consider the BB 10 once again the functionality at least equal to older units.

  Having the iPhone as features are nice, having the functionality of basic business, we are used to is a must!
