SOHO routers as a VPN server

Hello

Do you know if it is possible to use routers soho to accept incoming vpn tunnels, initiated by PC with "Cisco VPN Client"?

Thank you

Nuno

The navigation feature (http://tools.cisco.com/ITDIT/CFN/jsp/index.jsp) will help you here.

Search by function, function is 'Easy VPN Server'. This will tell you what HW platforms and what code you need for them. You can use the navigation to all the features of IOS, very practical feature.

  • Connection to a VPN server enterprise, via an existing Internet connection - PPPoE

Hi, I want to buy a router "EtherFast Cable / DSL VPN Router with 4-Port 10 / 100 Switch (BEFVP41) ' there is only one question: can I connect to the Internet on the PPPoE connection and use this connection to connect to the VPN server of your company through PPPoE or IPSec?

You can connect to the Internet via the PPPoE connection on your router.

If you use a VPN client software to connect to the secure your company network, there is usually a remote VPN server inside waiting to accept a connection of employees outside the corporate network.  All Linksys routers support VPN pass through and work with these types of connections. The only time that you need VPN Tunnel to the capabilities of the BEFVP41 is if you manually configure a secure VPN connection between two physical locations.

  • WRT320N and internal VPN server

I just bought a router Linksys 320N to replace another competing router.

I am trying to connect to my VPN server from outside my network. I have the external IP to my network. I install the new router 320N, like the old router.

the dmz ip value the vpn server's internal ip address

set forwarding port in 1723, the two, internal ip address of the vpn server

I have a way to test the vpn when I'm inside my network. So I can look at the VPN server to connect and see the request to come in the server happens to expire with the Linksys 320 N hung.

If I have the old router plugged, the vpn connects.

The above settings are the same settings I have on both routers.

    Help, please.

I don't think that the problem is CHAP. I think the problem is the GRE tunnel. Check with a sniffer network on the server and the client can help see if the ACCORD is sent at one end but never received at the other end.

1 make sure that the options under the Security tab of passthrough are all turned on.

    2. try different forwarding configurations, for example only the DMZ host configuration but no port redirects. Configure the single forward TCP 1723 port and no DMZ host. See if it makes a difference.

  • How to Setup Cisco 1841 as a site to site VPN VPN server, with watch guard

I would like to implement a cisco 1841 as a VPN server to establish s IP VPN (site to another) of a watch guard firewall,.

I have looked through some examples of cisco config, but can't seem to get a lot.

Can you please send me sample config steps I need o perform on the cisco router? and what credentials must be awarded to watch keeps establishing a permanent VPN?

emergency assistance will be greatly appreciated.

The cisco router is configured as a lan to lan normal IPSEC tunnel, there is no difference when configuration to create a tunnel to a watchguard/sonicwall or all that peer will use, you can use this link as a guide:

  • Easy vpn server issues of Cisco 800 series.

    Hello.

I want to deploy the easy vpn server on cisco 876 and 877 10 routers and access from a remote location (company headquarters). When I leave the firewall of the router off the vpn server works. When I turn it on it doesn't.

Although I allow all traffic to my ip for example 80.76.61.158 I can't access the vpn server.

I tried a place to let the firewall off and it worked fine.

I use SDM to configure the vpn server. Any ideas what I can do with the cause of firewall I really can't leave it "open."

    Thanks in advance.

It would be a good idea to paste the configuration of the VPN server to the firewall.

    Kind regards

  • Can't ssh on Mac OS VPN server

    I can connect to my VPN L2TP server with my iPhone running iOS 10 through my network of data carriers and passed to my home network from Comcast, but everything does not work;

    What works:

Access default Web site running the macOS Server using its IP address

    Public Web surfing

I can ping my phone of any system IP address on my network

What does not (what I tried):

SSH to any system macOS on my network

Access screen sharing on any system macOS on my network

Resolve the local hostname to an IP address

    More information

my iphone is running iOS 10

My computers are running macOS Sierra

I use Mac OS as host VPN server

I use the client VPN L2TP iOS 10.

Firewalls in the system is disabled.

Typical VPN connections, you use the DNS server of your iPhone and not the DNS server of the network corresponding to your server.  In addition, Hello services are only available on the LAN.  So you have no way to resolve names to IP adrdesses for the network, you are VPNing.

The only easy solution from an iPhone is to make a list of IP addresses and use them to connect instead of host names.  using IPs will work as long as your ISP does not also use the same internal (like 192.168 or 10.0) IP address than the network that you connect to.

  • Unable to connect to the VPN server

    Hello

I'm on Sierra, iOS macOS 10 and Mac OS Server 5.2 (on a Mac mini).  (All dated September 21, 2016)

Because PPTP is no longer supported, I am trying to create L2TP.  Unfortunately, when I try to connect to the server, I get the error "the VPN server has failed. Please check the server address and try to reconnect. »

I do not think it is a problem of networking: back to my Mac is not enabled, the appropriate ports are transmission (UDP 500, 1701, 4500) and server says that the service is accessible.

When I check the logs from the server after a connection attempt, I find:

    21/09/16 21:08:09.994 raccoon [75993]: can't find configuration.

    21/09/16 21:08:13.285 raccoon [75993]: can't find configuration.

    21/09/16 21:08:19.884 raccoon [75993]: can't find configuration.

    Any suggestions?

Does anyone know where the configuration file is supposed to be on the server, so I can look at?

    Thanks for your help!

    Hi Rick,

-Check that the folder/etc/racoon exist and the folder contains psk.txt and racoon.conf.

  • Configure a VPN server on non-server version

I have seen that it is possible to configure your Mac as a VPN server, even if you do not have the server version of Mac OS. Yosemite. Freeware such as VNC Enabler and VPN server Configurator can easily do that. So I tried. I forwarded your UDP, ports 500, 1701, and 4500 to the local IP address of my computer. I did the same for port 9 so I can wake on LAN. I made sure that IPSec, PPTP and L2TP passthrough are enabled (Linksys router). Nothing... does not work. The State of the VPN server says it is, but I can not connect from the outside. I can't wake the computer either, even if Wake for Ethernet network access is on. My IPS does not block these ports.

    Any idea?

Have you checked to see if the ports are actually open? Check here http://www.yougetsignal.com/tools/open-ports/

Also do you connect through a domain name or IP? If the domain name is set to the right IP?

It works on the LAN if change you the server address to its local IP address?

  • Best VPN server

I use the VPN server through Server 5.1. However, I recently bought an EdgeRouter POE, and I plan to change to its VPN. Can someone offer advantages/disadvantages for one against the other?

    Thank you

    Jeff

I have no experience using the EdgeRouter and it took quite some dig able to determine that this was the case to all VPN. It seems mainly focused on being a router Ethernet to Ethernet. However as mentioned, I finally found a reference, which suggests he can do the following VPN protocols.

    • IPSec Site to Site and remote access
    • OpenVPN Site‐to‐Site and remote access
    • RAS PPTP
    • Remote access L2TP
    • PPTP client

Download and read the whole manual I don't remember not its VPN features.

I can say that I gave up on VPN server own Apple as it supports only L2TP and PPTP that these two days are considered to be weak from a security point of view and which can be used for VPN on demand configurations. I now use StrongSwan5 which allows to make a Linux server

    • IKEv2 Site to Site and remote access
    • IPSec Site to Site and remote access

Both being able to VPN on demand.

IKEv2 is currently considered the most secure VPN solution. IKEv2 is supported the use of VPN client built into El Capitan and iOS 9.

StrongSwan5 works with the built-in VPN Apple customer and StrongSwan5 supports the use of SSL certificates, it also supports force all traffic through the VPN - a common requirement of companies configuration VPN connection.

  • How can I get all the connections on a windows 2008 r2 through a VPN server?

How can I route all internet connections on a Windows 2008 Standard r2 through a VPN server?

When I try to run just on an account administrator through regular networking, it hits the vpn in offline mode when someone else that the administrator is trying to distance in.

I have to use a vpn, because I'm on a school network and have permission to use the server, but I have to do my own static IP address.  My solution for the static IP address, he ran through a VPN with data unlimited which ended with a dedicated static IP address.

  • Unable to connect to the Internet after connecting to a VPN server.

As soon as I connect to the VPN, I can't access the Web or e-mail.

An article published by Microsoft Support to http://support.microsoft.com/kb/317025 seems to refer to the same problem. However, it is for Win 2000 and NT platforms, not XP. The problem seems to be due to the VPN connection (being configured) to use the default gateway on the remote network.

    Issues related to the:

    1. The problem indeed because the VPN connection is configured to use the default gateway on the remote network?
    2. If so, a) how can I know if it's like my VPN connection is configured and b) how I set up so I can use VPN to the network remotely and still being able to use internet locally?

    Thank you.

Realize that the VPN is intended to establish a secure connection to a remote network via a public internet.  Allowing a client computer at the same time secure access that a secure network and a public network may pose a risk to data leaks out of the network security in the public internet.  If "split tunneling" VPN server controls is allowed on a client computer.  If allowed by the side of the VPN server, the client computer accesses the VPN and the internet by unchecking the 'use Gateway on the remote network' box.  For more information:

I have a new router and try to get a connection to my ereader it show that I have a bar wireless that works but it says no internet service how to find my vpn server?

If you try to connect your ereader to your home wireless network? If yes you know the wireless network SSID, encryption type (IE. WPA2 for example) and password/pass phrase/key encryption. In general you can get make your wireless router by connecting to its pages. admin also consult the user manual or manufacturers support web site for your ereader device.

  • I want to know how to put my vista as a vpn server, so I can connect from work?

I have Vista Home Basic! and I want it to be VPN server so this way I can access resources on this subject. After researching I found that a customer who wants to set up a private network virtual assigned must address PUBLIC IP. Please ask me I would thank you for it!

None of the editions of Windows Welcome in native mode allow remote connections from an external PC.  In addition, your own home network router should protect your LAN House of this type of connection.  If you want to connect to your home PC, you need to set your router firewall to allow incoming connections on a port of your choice (not standard ports for incoming connections) and you will ned to install a program such as VNC to accept the incoming connection.  Alternatively, you can buy a service like GoToMyPC (http://gotomypc.com/) that will secure your home firewall courses.

My apologies for the delay in response.

For that matter on the VPN with IKEv2 Server Setup, you will need to post your request here on the TechNet forums.
