  You will also need to know the external IP address of your location.  You can find it at http://www.whatismyip.com/.  My internet service provider gives me a dynamic IP address, so it will change every 24 hours.  To resolve this problem, I have install dynamic host for me to http://www.dyndns.com/name.  You will also need to read the instruction manual for router for DDNS, so you can tell it where to point to and update the IP address.

  Start Notepad and let Windows load completely.  Hold down the Windows key and press R.  For the run box, type msconfig and press ENTER.  In the next window, click the Startup tab, uncheck the box next to each startup item and then click on apply to apply the change.  Reboot the laptop and let it run long enough to see if the message no longer appears.  Reactivate a substantive point both (your security software would be a good first choice), click on apply and restart, then check if the message now.  Keep doing this until you encounter the message following if poster again and you will know that the last program that you define to start is the cause.

  I guess it has something to do with our (asa5510) firewall our network natted environment. The FTP server is behind a firewall and a different public ip address. Our local network, from where I am trying to connect since is connected to the internet through a router and use NAT.

  I use FTP on ports 20 and 21 in the firewall

  In the log below, I guess that the problem is in this line:

  the local ip address of the client, where I am trying to connect to the ftp server. There's no problem.

  Is the problem caused by me being on a network of natted, and if so, how to solve this?
