SPA2101 and WRT610N

Hi all

Before getting my VoIP everything worked fine with my Linksys WRT610.  I have NAT and transfer of facility that allows me to access my network outside port remotely.  I just bought a SPA2101 of my VoIP provider and they told me to install it between my modem and my router.  So I did and now I can't access anything be it outdoors.  My WRT610N router is on x.x.1.1 and my VoIP SPA 2101 is on x.x.0.1 so it doesn't let me do port forwarding in my system connected to my router.  I tried to change the SPA2101 to x.x.1.1 LAN setting and it won't save the settings.  Can someone help me with this configuration correctly.

Thank you!

I suggest that you put the SPA2102 behind the WRT610N. make just a customer to the main router.  You may need to do a translation of port but on the router for VOIP. example ports are 5060-5061 and 16384-16482.

If this does not work, you can always cascade the router and the router just an access point. There are a few kbase articles explaining how waterfall 1 wired and 1 wireless router.

  • USB storage, software packages and WRT610N Rev.2

    Hello!

I have two questions about WRT610N.

First of all. Is that a firmware update is coming for the second revision of WRT610N? It's been a while since the release of the current version. In addition, Linksys E3000 was revealed and looking into its hardware specification, it is quite same router with a bit of software update.

And on the other hand. I wonder about the firmwares, because I have little problem with storage connected to the USB port on the router. When I use the SMB protocol to download large files, my wifi connection can be moved, and NetBIOS service was corrected (specific Windows Event Viewer). After restored connection I can't use storage via SMB until you restart. FTP protocol works without any problem, but it is not so convenient.

It may be the problem with my laptop, but I already tried different versions of the card WiFi driver (it's Intel 3945 ABG), and I can't change my OS (it's Windows 7, and Yes, I tried to clean install). So, I really hope the new firmware or your advice. Someone at - it met similar problems?

Sorry for my English, I'm not native and thanks in advance.

Although Ubuntu SMB Server is much more stable and stronger, then the operating system Windows and Windows performs well when transferring file using SMS Service.

Maybe you can try to change some of the settings on your router, if all goes well, this should help you. Change MTU size on your router for 1300 and click on save settings... Then below click on the "Advance Wireless Settings" sub-tab and below to change the interval of tag to 75, change the Fragmentation threshold to 2304, change the RTS threshold to 2304 and click on save settings...

Now, check if you are able to transfer large files from your computer to the USB storage...

    Hello

I have a WRT610N and Netgear WNR1000N just got Comcast, and I want to use WNR1000N as a wired router and use WRT610N as an Wireless Access Point. Is this possible? Thank you

Thanks for the quick response. Oh it's not good to hear. I don't want to launch a hundres of feet of cable through the walls and the attic. Everything can chance I reverse using Netgear WNR-1000 as a wireless network access (WAP) instead point the WRT610N? Thank you

  • HND and WRT400N or WRT320N

I was on two techniques different conversations and am still unable to download the product HND. The last of them had me download the latest LELA who was supposed to have HND in there. I installed it and there is a download link for Trend Micro. However, it is only Internet Security, a product I already own and use.

However, I followed the instructions to remove my current version (an obligation) and installed. There was no Home Network Defender.

I did this using the WRT400N router installed.

I've had first bought a WRT320N but said on the chat tech that this model had no HND, although he is listed as one of the models of qualifications. SO I brought and bought the WRT400N. It doesn't work any more.

Can someone please tell me what routers can be used with HND and where can I download the thing?

    I am really frustrated.

    The WRT400N can't HND.

The WRT320N does support HND, but you will need to have the latest firmware.  This can be downloaded from our support Web site.  Afterwards, you should be able to use Network Magic to enable HND.

HND is supported in the following routers: WRT160N, WRT120N (coming soon), WRT310N WRT320N and WRT610N.  The key is to make sure that you are using the latest firmware.

  • Lost the ability to achieve the Web for WRT610N utility

Until recently (not sure exactly when), on my Windows XP system, I used to be able to access the page of advanced configuration for my gateway WRT610N router by pointing a browser 192.168.1.1. No more: Firefox and IE say "Waiting."... "up until then they expire. Everything else seems to work very well; I can access the Internet and do all what I use the router for, no problem, I can not just to reach this configuration page. I've updated the Linksys LELA utility the other day, but I don't think that could block the IP address in the browser. The lights on the front panel are OK, and Ping seems good:

    > ping 192.168.1.1

Ping 192.168.1.1 with 32 bytes of data:

    Reply from 192.168.1.1: bytes = 32 time<1ms ttl="">
    .. and so on...
    Ping statistics for 192.168.1.1:
    Packets: Sent = 4, received = 4, lost = 0 (0% loss),
Time approximate round trip in milli-seconds:
    Minimum = 0ms, Maximum = 0ms, average = 0ms

I don't have a second computer and factory reset is an ultimate plan. Want to diagnose the problem if possible; firmware, maybe? I did an upgrade of the firmware in November, but I don't know that I accessed the web installation since then.

This can be useful information; the manual of the router says rather than enter the IP number, you can type http://wrt160n.com to reach the configuration page, but rather than address (and wrt610n.com) lead me to external Web addresses, in 192.168.1.1 just crashes. I wonder what is the mechanism to trap the digital and the processed alpha and direct requests to the advanced router setup? It seems here that lies the fault, I suppose.

Soft reset is just a power-stop/start of the router (power cycle).  In other words, just restart the router.  It does not affect the settings in the router, as would a hard reset (by pressing the reset button or reset to the default values of the web utility).

Normally I would have just said 'reboot', so sorry if there is some confusion.

  • Matching WRT610N with WET610N

I think to install a WRT610N in my living room to my existing DSL.  My desktop computer is upstairs and I know that I have coverage problems in my home.  I thought that I could connect my desktop computer to a WET610N and best performance on a wireless signal for the WRT610N on the double band of 5 GHz.  I also have a legacy laptop using 802. 11B.  Thank you...

You can configure WET610N and WRT610N... After you have configured, both will communicate wirelessly between them more than 5 GHz band.

  • WRT610N and Motorola SB6120 DOCSIS 3.0 Cable Modem

I've upgraded to the modem DOCSIS 3.0 in October due to higher bandwidth offerings of Comcast cable.

Everything was fine until last week when I had recurring loss of Internet connectivity requires me to reboot/cycle my WRT610N and/or modem.

I updated the firmware of the currently displayed 1.00.03 B15 and reset the router.  This did not help the situation.

I also tried the suggestions mentioned here, including the Beacon Interval 75, threshold of Frag 2304, threshold RTS 2307, the wide-40 MHz Radio band.  Reset and cycled the router and modem after all this.  I also tried to power off my computer after each reset, all to nothing does not.

I'm still losing Internet conncectivity several times per hour.  LELA is unable to repair the connection.  So far, the only solution is to reboot the router.

Do I have a defective router (still under warranty), or is there a problem to interface with DOCSIS 3.0 modems.  Never had this problem with the old Comcast cable modem.

My WRT610N is version 1 material.  Wireless encryption is WPA - AES, recommended by Beaver in a previous post in August.  Nothing is connected to the USB port on the router.

I "x-out" the last 6 digits of my MAC address for security reasons.

I would be very appreicate suggestions.  I strongly suspect that I would like to order a replacement from Linksys via warranty RMA router.

    Thank you for reading this.

    Sincerely,

    Joe

Received the replacement router on 22-11-09.  WRT610N rebuilt with firmware v 1.00.03 B15.

Installed with the current LELA software.  Wireless laptop was runing Vista 32-bit, Wired PC on XP Service Pack 3.

Everything works normally again.  Replacement router dropped not a (wired or wireless) connection since its installation.

I find that my original router (bought about 3/09) was defective.

After replacement of the router, I upgraded my OS to Windows 7 (32-bit on laptop wireless, 64-bit Wired desktop).  No problem at all with the router.

    Hope this helps others.

  • WRT610N and WGA600N game help?

Hey everyone I need help to find the best settings for wrt610n for games and it goes the same for the wga600n. whenever I play a game the connection falls for about 1 minute then I can play again. as he always says something about the strict firewall whenever I play war gear please help. Thank you

I figured out problem that the triclk is if you play on a console or anything that allows you to take off the firewall, you need to do DMZ is enter the ip address for what you play and BOOM the connection is good. I turned on the 5gz return string and it works perfectly since there is no firewall to slow the connection on my xbox 360

  • WRT610N and IpV6?

I have the last update of firmware posted the 1.0 model the WRT610N.  Test - ipv6.com is not reassuring, since pure IpV6 sites do not react, but I don't know if it's my router or some other problem.

The WRT610N will work correctly once IpV4 disappeared, or am I intended to buy another router?  Except if forced, I'm perfectly happy with this one.

    Thank you...

The WRT610N does not support IPv6.

But it doesn't matter. IPv4 has not disappeared. And will not disappear. At least for a very long time.

And as long as you don't need a site that is only accessible via IPv6 it won't matter anyway. And even in this case, Windows supports different IPv6 tunnels that allow your computer to use IPv6 even if your router is not.

  • WRT610N with HDD and consoles

Good day every one of you.

At home, I have the WRT610N router. On this router, I can add an external HARD drive. I have the 360 and PS3 and now I stream MP3 from PC to these consoles. If I add a HARD drive, my consoles will be able to recognize, there is a server, as with my PC, and I could listen to the music of the router, without turning on the PC?

    Thanks for all the information!

I have a the same as you, a WRT610N router Xbox 360 and PS3.  I am pleased to tell you that Yes, you can listen to your MP3 music to both of them through the built in media server from the router.  I heard of some issues with some drives not recognized by the router, so watch out for that.  Let us know how it goes.

  • 3 external IP addresses, a WRT610N, 2 PC and NAS

Can it be done with what I have? Here's my situation:

I have a modem (optical fiber) which comes with 3 LAN on s, each with a designated fixed global IP (x.x.x.26 - 28). I've been using one of these (. 26) with my WRT610N (Internet port) to connect my laptop etc. Pretty easy. Now, I recently got a NAS Synology DS107 +. Of course, if I connect it to one of the ports LAN WRT610N it gets an address 192.168.1.x as my other devices and is accessible from the outside world through x.x.x.26. But, is it possible for me to give him one of the other global unused IP (IE, x.x.x.27)? Could I connect a second modem LAN on the of directly for the WRT610N (LAN) and route somehow all that reached x.x.x.27 to the NAS, while everything that reaches x.x.x.26 is managed by the router/NAT

Or do I need extra gadget for this. (I can not connect the modem directly on the NAS since the modem does not support gigabit LAN)

You can connect the modem and the WRT610N using a wire, not two.

When you say you have three addresses 'fixed' world property intellectual, I assume you mean you have three Internet addresses.  Is this correct?

If Yes, then you have two solutions for your problem:

    (1) addition of a gigabit, such as the SD2005 or SD2008 switch between your modem and the rest of your network.  Then you should be able to access each 3 fixed Internet addresses by plugging your device in the switch.  However, you cannot connect your NAS in the switch, especially if your NAS has limited ability to protect themselves against pirates.  In addition, you might prefer to keep your NAS attached to your LAN WRT610N.  If so, try solution 2.

    (2) 2 solution is to leave your NAS connected to LAN WRT610N, but access on the Internet through a port.  Most NAS devices are accessible on the Internet by giving your NAS a LAN IP fixed address and then forward a port to address fixed.

  • WRT610N connection and network storage problems

First of all, on my network, I have a wired under Vista Ultimate PC, a portable wireless g running XP Pro, a Wired VoIP PABT box, an iPhone, a g wireless Mediagate MG350HD media Extender connected to the TV in the living room (about 10 meters through the 3 wooden walls) and I have a drive hard usb connected to the WRT610N router.

I spent only on tape 2.4 on the router - 5.0 band request the customer to have N Wireless anyway, since I have no devices N Wireless is no use right now?

I use it to manage my network Network Magic.

Problem #1.   My Mediagate MG350HD guard abandon it's connection to the network. I tried to use DHCP and static ip address for this but it falls again. The only solution I've found is to remove the Mediagate masked-out of the network adapter in the Network Magic, restart the router, click on "search new devices" in Network Magic and MOST of the time it will redetect and reconnect the Mediagate. Any ideas?

Problem #2. Try to configure the network (my hardrive USB) storage device is a pain in the anus.

In the storage routers tab I can't give a sense creating folder. All I want to do is to share specific folders and all their content on the network. Whenever I go to assign access rights and click on groups most in the access column and hit 'save' it puts back in the denied access column. This has something to with the permissions on my PC? When I go to network and sharing Center it now displays "Network Storage", when I click in 3 folders in network appear, when I try to set permissions on these folders, I hit apply and the boxes I just checked white-out again. The folder marked "Network Hard Drive" (the one I put in place using the storage tab in the router) does not show subfolders and the real movies stored on them.

When I try to change the permissions on the using my PC, different folders, for example, movies, TV etc... I get the same cutting out of the tickboxes on 'apply '.

Is there a step by step graphic instruction that I can follow other than the PDF file that came on the disc with the router. It was not very useful.

As you try to share a storage network on your computer, its nothing to do with your Permission to computers. You must set the appropriate permissions on your router for this specific folder and set the read/write permissions, you will be able to access the storage on your computer and make the appropriate changes in it.

Once you open a session to your Linksys router configuration page, click on the storage tab, then click on create share and you can select the folder you want to share on the network and give them read/write permissions.

Once you're done, you can MAP the network drive on your computerand when you are prompted for the username and password you can try the username and the password that you set on your router on the storage tab. Once done after that, you will be able to make the changes.

  • Quality of Service with WRT610N and Vonage

I try to get the quality of Service, in collaboration with my WRT610N and my Vonage device.  The WRT is connected directly to a cable modem, and the Vonage device is connected to the Ethernet 1 port.  I have configured the MAC address of the Vonage on the QoS tab as 'High' priority (done by selecting the 'voice device' on the drop-down list category).  In addition, I put my Vonage options (on the my account page of the Vonage site) to use the higher throughput (90 kbps, I think).  Any other setting QoS have been made.

However, the router seems not to be the QoS application at all.  If I do any kind of surfing at all (dragging around on Google maps to load new pages of satellite is a good test), the quality of voice over a call during Vonage is very choppy.  What I have to do something else to make sure that the Vonage device gets highest priority?

    Follow these connection parameter:

    Modem (DSL/Cable)-> VONAGE-> WRT610N

Your Modem must be connected to your VONAGE and your VONAGE Ethernet, plug it into the Internet Port of you router LINKSYS. You also check the VONAGE internet connection by connecting your PC to your Ethernet VONAGE before connecting the WRT610N router.

  • WRT610N and DMA2100

I just installed a router to my network, WRT610N, v2.0, its largest number, instead of my WRT350N, whech had even developed a fault. The network seems to work correctly, after letting the configuration, etc.

However, my Media Center Extender, Linksys DMA 2100, must be re-attached with the computer whenever it is re-powered. As this process takes about 20 minutes and then he's looking for the library. The Media Center Extender has worked well with the old router. There is also a router TPLink Tl-SG1005D, gigabyte router, taking the cable between the router and routing it in three of my boxes of home entertainment with the Extender. As I say, worked perfectly before the change.

I'm now running Windows 7, I've been on beforre Vista.

I deleted all traces of the Extender to my system and re-installed. No change, must still be reconfigured each time.

Can someone tell me what to do?

    Philip283

the link has been wired throughout. Thank you very much, I'll try security coding.

I think that the problem may be with tha Protection network supplied with the machine (try it for 2 to 4 weeks). There is no intructions on how to disable. I already have a security program installed.
