Speed up my startup & Performance?

I have Windows Vista Home Premium 32 bit, 2G mem, came w/512 MB. I added more of mem to 2G & he recognizes that. What I need to know is... Does anyone know what system applications. I can disable or turn off without getting the 'If you put this off, other applications that depend on it will no longer work! Apart from Pogo.com online, I'm not a gamer. And I have less programs than my 2nd class broken Win98, who started and ran from 10-20 X better & faster! Man, if it's not broken, don't fix it and 98 2nd was best of all. And there are millions more who would agree! But companies must keep the money, so we get a new version every two years. Maybe 3 (yrs.)? Now, back to what I asked before. Anyone know how and what I don't need? You know, all these bells & whistles that a medium web peruser like me do NOT need? I'm fairly warned, but C'mon! It depends on all the other non-necessites. It's technically impossible on purpose? I turn on my computer, go to the bathroom, come back (fingers crossed) hoping that my 2 icons are there. Me(Administrator/User) & me (guest). Now, I have enough time to prepare the breakfast and (lol) also eat. To return to my computer (fingers crossed once again) and I hope that my office is ready. Everyone? Please exclude the upgrade Windows 7 or lower.    Futile in Seattle

Thank you, I made certain specified things, get rid of unwanted programs (that I now use manually) and discovered what Windows Services, I could live without. Quick Startup was what started me in the right direction. Nice little tool, also. You solved my problems! The start-up time is fast and buttons user-Guest, I now get to the desktop in less than 5 seconds! WTG! Anyone else seeing this :D BurrWalnut knows what he's talking about "combat!                                Best regards, rjh536

The only thing that's really going to "speed up" your computer is a faster processor, more ram and a faster internet connection.  Everything else is really a waste of money (IMHO)

  • Portege M400-146 slow startup performance

My 400 is significantly slow starts, compared to a lower specification laptop that this device was intended to replace. In addition to the understanding of the product, I see that there are more than 90 processes that run on this laptop more almost two times more than my previous unit and a lot more than my Small Business server that runs Win2k3/Exchange/ISA. My question is are there problems by removing the plethora of background tools that are of little use to me, specifically RAID/configfree

In addition there of the best-known problems associated slow performance/hang up with IE? There is an article that should resolve the issues of States with both software and an upgrade, but he didn't, even the last published this month made no difference.

In general, this unit is much slower than my previous spec'd base, grateful suggestions

    Hello

I agree with you. Many processes of background can slow performance of the laptop.
But it is a simple fact. Each application or function on the laptop needs a clean process.
Portoge M400 is a portable high-tech and you can not compare with a low price laptops or office that support only a common features.

The Portege M400 supports the RAID Utility, HDD Protection, Tablet PC button, utility zooming, Rotation, ConfigFree, controls, utility of fingerprints and so on and the rest.

Of course, you can just disable or remove other feature requests, but then I wonder why you use the Portege M400 with the features and tools together?

But you can try to upgrade the memory. To my knowledge the Portege M400 supports 4 GB memory max. The upgrade improves performance.

  • About update software - where is more readily available update file size indicated?  I have satellite internet (paying for GBs), live in a very rural area and need to plan the best cost/speed efficient location to perform the task.

It's painful.  I thought I posted question already in the first search bar.  I don't understand why Apple in the description of software update in short does not show the size of the file.  I live very rural, have internet satellite and pay for GBS; I have to plan where it will be more cost effective speed. Am I missing a quick and easy answer?

Also, can you recommend a management updates software APP where I can set the time to start and complete the download and installation. 02:00-08:00 Eastern time zone.  Thank you.

  • Application startup performance

When testing appstacks, we notice that appvol applications, even the smallest, begin until significantly more slowly than those installed in the image.

For example, a local application that takes 5 seconds to launch, takes about 15 seconds in appvolumes.

Are there settings to improve performance? Or version 2.6 will fix these issues?

It is improved on, but by the nature of what does App Volumes that there may be some additional overhead in launching applications. However once launched performance should be comparable to those of native plants.

  • Toshiba Satellite C50-C005 - slow startup performance

    Hello

I bought Toshiba Satellite C50-C005. However, I noticed that it loads pretty slow and it takes a while before entering Windows. The same rate applies when I restart my computer.

Is this normal for this series?

It seems to be. My C50 looks like it is starting off and then displays the login screen. Probably over a minute on a system clean restoration.

    Hello

Make sure you have Superfetch and ReadyBoost running services and then try to speed up the startup using my guide [1]. This causes the prefetcher in Windows Vista. This increase startup performance a lot. All other tweaking tools are useless. Use this method only with this Toolkit from Microsoft.

If it is not to speed up the startup process, follow my guide [2] to start and stop monitoring , compress the boot_BASE + CSWITCH + DRIVERS + POWER_1.etl andshutdown_BASE + CSWITCH + DRIVERS + POWER_1.etl like RAR or 7z and transfer it to your Skydrive [3] and post the link here.

I take a look at the trace, maybe I see what's wrong with your Windows.

  • Desktop HP Envy h8-1485ea: hp envy h8-1485ea slow at startup

I have had this PC for a few years now and even though I keep the start up programs at least the boot time is now about 5 minutes.

I think that this pc has a 16 GB drivewhich SSD I thought caching was supposed to prevent from starting slow times.

The PC is a desktop 64-bit HP Envy h8-1485ea system.

Is it possible that when I upgraded from Windows 8 to 10 of Windows operating system has been installed on the main 3 TB hard drive? If that were the case, how should I move to the SSD drive?

Or should I put the SSD drive and if so, what specifications?

The SSD 16 GB drive aims to speed up access memory, is not to speed up the startup time.

The upgrade to Windows 10 made for the operating system on the hard drive of 3 TB. Upgrade Windows 10 will not install to one as small as 16 GB of SSD.

You can install a SATA 160 GB SSD and a greater capacity and configure it as a startup disk.

Use the hard drive 3 TB of storage.

It is recommended that clone you the current startup for the SATA SSD drive before you install it in the desktop PC.

Friendship will be the start-up and operation of the PC.

  • Slow startup of Vista on Satellite U300 14 K

I recently bought this Satellite U300, but it takes about 3 1/2 minutes by pressing the button, until I see the desktop and the sidebar Windows. I already turned off non-essential processes in Windows Defender and msconfig.exe, tried to have the radio Bluetooth and Windows Sidebar disabled, and it has not changed anything. Just on the black screen that shows up just before the office, for at least two minutes.

Anyone other suggestions to speed up at startup tings? I have to re - install Windows Vista from the Toshiba DVD?

    Thank you

    Tine

I think I knew in fact that is the problem, but I don't have the knowledge to fix it myself if it's here:

When you start the "Toshiba" and "Welcome" is displayed as it should. But after that, the computer lies on a black screen for about two minutes. Recently, I tried to open the task manager at this point and it was no problem. If I could terminate explorer.exe and run it again, and as if by magic my office appears instantly! So I guess that the explorer.exe process gets delayed just somehow?

I hope someone knows how to solve this problem, your comments are welcome!

    Thank you
