Spill of water caused my HP envy 4 to do that no boot device error.

A planter fell my laptop asleep (activated but closed) and was there for no more than 5 minutes. Much water has flowed on the HDMI port and the lower right.
The laptop worked well for a good 30 minutes then I had a sudden blue screen with the code F4 stop. I then turned off my phone and it turned back and the no boot device error apeard even if I turned off the laptop.
Instinctively, I shook the laptop a bit and it seems to work fine for about 20 minutes, and then suddenly got the blue screen with the stop, even code again. This has happened for about 3 times until I let him all night.
But now after that I left it all night I can't be on the laptop for more than 3 minutes without the blue screen that appears then the boot device error apears.
Anyone who could help would be immensely appreciated.
Thank you very much
Jacob.

Thank you, but somehow my laptop is now back up and running how it was before. However, I appreciate your time and your info.

  • HP Envy 15 t-as000: brand new HP Envy w / SSD: "Boot Device not found".

    Hello

I have a brand new (less than 1 week) HP Envy 15 t-as000 w / a 256 GB SSD.  After the impeccable behavior for 1 week, the laptop can be started is no longer.  No boot device is detected.  If I try to run a diagnostic on the hard disk, the BIOS I was informed that it can not detect even a current hard drive (see image)

I don't know what happened.  I'm very careful with my machines.  He has not been abandoned. It has not been dropped on, or taken any sort of somehow.  I just pressed the power button one day (yesterday) and I see this:

Thanks for the tips. I followed your recommendations and sent the laptop to HP for replacement (I bought this unit directly to the output from the HP website).

However, I am frustrated because after all taxes and transportation costs, I had to pay an additional amount of $10.  The total general of the replacement order was $739,79 against $730,90 for the original purchase.  Why am I penalized $ 10 ($8,89 to be exact) for a mistake that was not even my fault?

Also, I had to pay $24,83 FedEx packaging to send the laptop back.  How was I supposed to know I should have brought the Moose with me to Seattle, WA in Ithaca, NY packaging because the SSD was going to fail in my college dorm?

So in the end, my HP Envy $730,90 now goes to the identical replacement of cost unit $739,79 + packaging from FedEx $24,83 phone = $ 764,62.

Bottom line: screw - up HP cost me $33,72!  Not the end of the world but still a ringing sound nice when you're not yet a career with a cushy salary of mickael elite.

  • Equium M50-164 does not work after the spill of water

I bought a laptop Toshiba Equium M50-164 last year.
I paid a lot of money, now it does not work.
I can't afford to write that he took so therefore must operate.

The reason why it does not work is the water spilled on it.

I took it to a specialist. I found in the repertoire of Thompson, I paid him £50 and he siad he probably one
new motherboard and so not worth repairing as it comes to Toshiba and their parts are expensive etc...
    Is this fair?

I'm desperate to fix but don't know how.

Help, please. Without doubt, I should be able to buy a motherboard for the laptop without costing an arm or a leg.

    Hello

As you probably know that the laptop parts are not cheap because of miniaturization and mobility.
The LCD screen and the motherboard are the more expensive parts that are used in the laptop. I na? not know if Toshiba parts are more expensive. I guess it depends on the features of the laptop.

However, the new motherboard is very expensive and I think that the search for unity of second hand with the motherboard isn't a bad idea.
CA? s your choice. New motherboard = expensive but with card guarantee or second hand mother = cheaper, but no guarantee

PS: the replacement of the motherboard is not very easy and that's why if you have no experience you should ask a technician for help.

I bought the full version of Windows 10 House because I want to keep my factory installed Win 8.1 x 64 and dual boot with the new OS.

Installation went without problems - on a partition separated after the reduction of the C: partition by default, but when I restart my PC, start menu does not always appear for make me decide which system to choose and the computer boots directly to Windows 8.1.  I even turned off "time to display list of operating systems" when Windows 10 is selected by default OS, but when I turn off my PC for a short period and put back on, I am greeted by Windows 8.1

    Hello

Thank you for posting this and for letting me know it now works for you (which is acceptable to you).

In fact, what you describe above is not a bug, but it should. This is because Microsoft has changed a bit the boot process and the stop function since Win 8 (which means Windows 8, 8.1 and now 10). Instead of the stop full as in Windows XP, Vista, 7, Windows 8, 8.1, and 10 (when he is chosen to turn off) will stop, but closing them is a kind of hibarnation. For this reason, what describe you above is going on (he begins the latest OS because it was really completely out).  Full done restart restarts and it meets the place where the OS is selected.

This mode ensures a faster start-up (on cause of so-called half restart).

I just had this happen two times this morning, and both times she was corrected by unplugging and restarting my router.

Is there a way I can just install Windows 7 on a different partition?  Is there another way I can solve this problem more effectively by disconnect and reconnect to the network?  Is - this somehow related to the previous post from this morning, 'Why HP Recovery Manager starts by Rebecca.exe?'

    Hey ElizaDoolittle8,

Thanks for the test for me.

When you say better that you mean that the problem does not occur with the mouse, or less often?

If this always happens with a mouse looking for problem software or Windows. If this does not happen with a mouse, looking at a hardware or driver problem.

You can try to reinstall drivers touchpad with the following link to troubleshoot driver: Driver of the Synaptics TouchPad.

If this is a new issue and it was working properly before you can also try a system restore. My hard drive in my dv7 ENVY dies for the second time in two years (it was under warranty last time and I was able to fix). I bought the hard drive same exact (Samsung, 1 TB), tested in BIOS, past everything. When I try to make the image recovery with the HP recovery discs I received the last time my hard drive died, I get an error then that 58% on two recovery disc that says:

    Reducer

    Copy the file fails

    From: d:\preload\base24. STORMWATER MANAGEMENT

    To: c:\RM\Image\BASE24. STORMWATER MANAGEMENT

    Press OK to retry.

I press OK and it does the same thing over and over again. People who questioned him on this same type of error seem to get anywhere here, but what choice do I have? The hard drive is the same size, same manufacturer, same model, it should have the question of reimage the system on a hard drive more small, right?

Am I just out of luck on that? So frustrated.

    Hello;

Let me welcome you on the HP forums!

I read your post on recovery issues and wanted to help.

Here is the link to the tool of creation of win8.1 media: installation media to create for Windows - 8.1 help Windows

Understand, however, you might encounter a problem installing using the media created from this tool.

You have a version of OEM HP of Win8 installed on your PC, and this means that the product key that is embedded in the motherboard UEFI firmware is OEM, not retail.

While the media created from this tool SHOULD be activated using this key, there is no guarantee he will do.  If it is not the case, you can use this tool to recover your product key and try to enter it manually: Download Windows OEM Product Key Tool - MajorGeeks

IF it still does not work, then your only recourse would be to order a new set of recovery from HP discs.

You can look online for recovery from the paged media related: http://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers

Once there, enter your product name or number. On your software page and download the drivers, select your operating system and version. Click on "Update".  If the HP recovery support is available for your computer, down near the bottom of the page, you will see an entry for the command Recovery Media-CD/DVD/USB. Click on the symbol '+' to expand this entty and click on order to press for more details.

Or, if you prefer, you can do the same by contacting HP Customer Service:

If you live in the United States or the Canada, details are on this page: http://www8.hp.com/us/en/contact-hp/phone-assist.html#section1

If you live elsewhere, contact details are on this page: http://www8.hp.com/us/en/contact-hp/ww-contact-us.html

NOTE: once you get through, stay on the line until you are finally able to talk to someone ' one - it can take a while!

However, HP customer care is generally not available on weekends, so you will have to wait until Monday to contact them.

    Good luck

  • HP Envy M4 1115dx: Qualcomm QCA Atheros Driver Installation error | Device not found wireless adapter

I just replaced my old HD with a new SSHD Seagate. Everything is going well until I tried to connect to internet in wifi wireless mode with. I think it was a pilot error because I just do a blank Windows 8 install on my new SSHD (hybrid drive SSD). So I went to find the Driver for the WLAN Module.

HP is automatically detected my laptop model number and gave me a list of drivers. I selected "Qualcomm Atheros QCA90000 series Wireless LAN Driver for Microsoft Windows" under the list of Driver Network in the menu dropdown.

In the middle of the installation of this driver, I was arrested and met a titled error message, "802.11a/b/g/n Wireless adapter device not found". Just below this title was a big red circle with a white X sign. Besides, he said: "the device may not be present or could have been ejected unplugged from the system. Abortieng the installation, please insert the card and try again the Setup program. »

Below is a screenshot of what I mean.

Problem solved. I uninstalled all the drivers but the Ralink. Think I know what may have caused this.

The recommended for WLAN driver was based on a misinterpretation on behalf of HP. HP auto detected my laptop as a 1150la instead of the 1115dx model.

I'm not sure why HP thinks that my model is another, but it may have something to do with the SSHD and thermal fan replacement I did before this error WiFi.

  • Dv7 - 7333cl envy: Boot Device not found (3FO) after 8 of Windows Restalling of recovery disks

    Hello

The hard drive on my dv7 desire - 7333cl just died after upgrading my windows 8.1 to 10. I bought a new SSD and I replaced the drive. I could not find the recovery discs, that I did when I got the PC, so I ordered new HP according to the recommendations of other threads with the understanding that they would be able to reinstall windows on the new drive.

Given the shipping time would take a long time, until I tried to reinstall Windows 8.1 using the file .iso Windows 8.1 image official of Microsoft. It seemed to install properly, read the product automatically key and everything, but I could not get the machine to start, so I decided to wait for the HP recovery discs.

Well I had the disc a few days ago and reinstalled the original image on the new drive. Problem is that when the computer reboots, I get error no matter what I try. The errors vary according to which of the steps I tried below, but I was never able to start Windows, except once when the Windows 8 BSOD loops and restarts automatically before I can even read.

Here are the steps I've already tried:

-Performed a hard reset (power adapter and battery removed, taking the power for 30 seconds button)

-Run the diagnostic system HP based on the SSD (spent) and memory (spent)

-Secure boot disabled (and re-enabled, cleared the keys, keys reloaded, etc.)

    -Enabled legacy support (and disabled)

-Bios reset to original settings (F9) is then repeat above steps in various orders

-Reinstalled two times more than original image

At this point, I was wondering if the drive has not been formatted from the recovery disk and multiple files to start causing problems, so I started in Parted Magic with UBCD and reformatted the entire hard drive (0 s to write to disc) and again reinstalled original image. Still nothing so I told all the steps above in random orders to try to turn it on.

If I start in the boot options, I can see the SSD, but it still won't start. Does anyone have more ideas for me to try? The fact that it passes all the tests and that it is running the Linux of Parted Magic environment suggests that everything works fine, but for some reason any Boot file does not load.

Did I lose money on the HP recovery discs and he just bought my own Windows OEM license?

I'm going crazy trying to figure this out. I am relatively experienced with the PC, but it's my first time work with the architecture of the UEFI Windows 8 so maybe there is something obvious that I'm missing?

    Thanks for any help.

    FINALLY SUCCESS!

After a lot of frustration and several reboots, partitions, reinstall, and trips to Best Buy, that I care to remember I'm typing this from my stable work feel LIKE to the point Windows 8.1. Currently 10 Windows to download and install all updates, but everything seems to be stable.

To make a long story short:

-Be sure to carefully read the product manual

I never would have guessed that this system would support only a 160 or 180 GB SSD. If I had of known that I would have probably never had any serious problems.

-Instead of order recovery HP discs just to download the ISO of Windows 8

I'm not the first person to have problems with these discs (search this forum for the many complaints), so unless desperately want the included HP tools and bloat, just to get a file from Microsoft (FREE!). There is no reason why it shouldn't work and I wish I would have went with my gut here and saved a bit of money.

-Be persistent if you can't find the question

I was told, many people, that the machine was bricked up. At that time, I was obsessed with the implementation because no one could tell me why it would not.

Thanks for reading! And if you encounter a similar error, good luck.

  • ENVY 5530: Impossible to install the HP drivers: error 1722

    Hello

I have a major problem with the HP Envy 5530. At first it just prints nothing but scanning was very good. Then one day I got I decided to fix it. I ran a few fixers print spooler and it looks like they just remove a bunch of files. Then I went and deleted the printer drivers in system32. Now when I want to install the HP x 64 base drivers, it gives me an error:

    Setup error

Error 1722: Cannot add the Port Discovery HP Monitor (HP ENVY 5530 series) port monitor.

    I use 10 64-bit Windows.

I want my printer to work again. I would like to avoid having to wipe my os.

Weird things are also underway in the services menu. The "PrintNotify" service is offline with error code 2 and print spooler is running, but when I go to WordPad and try to print it says "Do you want to install a printer now?" and then I click Yes, "Windows can't open Add Printer" the local print spooler service is not running. Please restart the spooler or restart the machine "."

I want real solutions, as I have tried several of those mentioned in article 'driver install errors' which does not even cover error code 1722.

This problem has been resolved. I inserted the disc of Windows 10 and did an upgrade on site to keep all applications and settings, but reinstall windows. This has removed all the corrupted windows files and now I'm at square one (I'll create another problem for her, since it is not really related).

  • HP ENVY 17-n013na: the Legacy BIOS boot option does not work

    Support dear HP team,

I recently bought for laptop HP ENVY 17-n013na .  It came with Windows 8.1. I have to install Windows 7. Unfortunately, the legacy in BIOS boot option does not work for me. Here is detailed information:

    BIOS version: F.04 Rev 5.0

I tried updating to the latest version of the BIOS on the Support site.

To activate the option to boot legacy, I followed the following steps:

    • Entered, BIOS configuration utility
    • Go to the System Configuration
    • > Boot options
    • Changed the setting to the Legacy Support on " Enabled"
    • F10 - save changes & exit

Now, after the restart, if I go once more, configuration of the BIOS Legacy Support is set to disabled. Whenever I have change to active BIOS, Save & Exit, it is up to the people with reduced mobility. Because of that I can't run the installer of Windows 7 DVD.

Please provide any help & suggestions.

    Thank you.

    Kind regards
