SQL Server 2005 - using the SQL Service Packs on the VCS Server 2.5

Hello.

We currently have an installation of data center with 2 servers ESX 3.5 and 1 Server 2.5 VCS. Version 2.5 of VCS runs on Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Standard Edition. The system worked for a short period and we have a number of models and virtual machines in the test and production laboratories. I would like to know if it is possible to apply the Service Pack of SQL Server 2005 so that I can enjoy the Maintenace Plan features in SP1 from. Did someone already did call a Service Pack for SQL Server 2005 that is running an instance for VCS 2.5 with success?

If so, please let me know the methods used and any useful links that you may have found on the subject?

Very much appreciated. : D

I went through the process, and it is no different from any other.  Stop just vc and make backups of db.  Then proceed as usual.  I haven't run into no problems so far, and I am currently in SP3 for sql 2 k 5.

    Hi mowse73,

Thank you for using the Microsoft Answers forum.  This error occurs usually when you do not have the latest service pack installed.  Please use one of the following methods to install the latest service pack.

Method 1: Turn on automatic updates

The best way to ensure that you receive the latest Windows Vista service pack is to turn on the auto update feature.

To enable the automatic update feature, follow these steps:

    1. Click Start

    Collapse this includes this image

Click all programsand then click Windows Update.

  • In the navigation pane, click change settings.
  • Select the automatic Windows Update the setting you want. If you are unsure which setting to choose, follow these instructions. Otherwise, proceed to step 4:
    • Automatic (recommended) automatically download updates that are recommended for my computer and install them: we recommend that you select this option. Click to select the day and time for scheduled updates occur. You can schedule automatic updates for any time of the day, but your computer must be on at the scheduled updates to install.
    • Download updates for me, but let me choose when to install them: this option is selected, Windows recognizes when you are online and uses your Internet connection to automatically download updates on the Windows Update Web site or the Microsoft Update Web site. An icon appears in the notification area of your taskbar when the updates are downloaded. When the download is complete, a message appears in the notification area. Click the automatic updates icon or the message. If you do not want to install a downloaded update, click Details, and then click to clear the check box next to that update to decline. Click install to install the selected updates.
    • Notify me but don't automatically download or install: Windows recognizes when you are online and uses your Internet connection to search for downloads from the Windows Update Web site or from the Microsoft Update Web site. An automatic updates icon and message appear in the notification area of your taskbar when new updates are available to download or install. Click the icon or message to view the updates. If you do not want to download a selected update, click to disable the check box next to that update to decline. Click Start Download to download the selected updates. The automatic updates icon remains in the notification area of your taskbar, while updates are downloaded. You can point to the icon to display the status of the download. To pause or resume the download, right-click on the icon and then click pause or resume. When the download is complete, another message appears in the notification area to notify you that updates are ready to install. Click the automatic updates icon or the message, and then click install to install the updates.
    • Never search for updates (not recommended): do not select this option.
  • Click to select the checkbox to Include updates when downloading, installing or advising me on recommended updates , and then click OK.

If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

  • To verify that this method worked and that the latest Windows Vista service pack is installed, repeat the steps under "How to determine whether the latest Windows Vista service pack is installed" in the section "before you try to download the latest Windows Vista service pack. If you see a reference to Windows Vista Service Pack 2 (SP2), you have successfully installed the latest service pack. If the latest Windows Vista service pack has not been installed successfully, try method 3.

Note Before you install Windows Vista SP2, you must install Windows Vista Service Pack 1 (SP1). If you have not installed Windows Vista SP1, updates to automatic update will not install Windows Vista SP2.

Method 2: Check the updates on Windows Update

Although automatic updates can automatically install updates for you, you can also do it manually.

To manually check Windows Update for updates, follow these steps:

    1. Click Start

Note Before you install Windows Vista SP2, you must install Windows Vista SP1. If you have not installed Windows Vista SP1, Windows Update will not install Windows Vista SP2.

Method 3: Get the latest Windows Vista service pack from Microsoft Download Center

This method is a little more time. However, this method is a good way to download the service pack if you have to install on another computer. Just download the latest service pack Windows Vista go to Microsoft Download Center on another computer with an Internet connection. I get to the point if I download the sp1, it starts the installation. It goes all the way up to step 3, and then he tells me after a very long time that service Pack 1 installs recovery of changes. Wondering what to do.

I thought about it myself. I have McAfee and read somewhere that the update will not take if you have mcafee. So he says to disable anti-virus, firewall and software spies. I have done that and restarted my computer. With disabled McAfee, I was able to install the Service pack. Then I re active my McAfee and everything is fixed. Thanks for your help.

I use Vista, Internet 9, desktop pc, cannot connect to Internet Explorer, get the message "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage."  I click on diagnose connection problems and he says: "Windows cannot find any problems with the network connection on this computer."  Using Netgear and router.  All the lights are on, all connections are secure.  Two of them have reset several times that I care to mention.  I access internet using my wireless laptop or directly related.  Lower right of the screen on the task bar, it shows double computer and Internet Explorer icons.  When I click it, it brings up the network and sharing, and it shows the lines between desktop computer, network 2 (home network) and the Internet. Hello

    Method 1:
Use the Internet Explorer (No Add-ons) mode, and check if it helps:

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/Internet-Explorer-Add-ons-frequently-asked-questions

    Method 2:
I also suggest you to consult the Knowledge Base article and check if it helps:
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/956196

    Method 3:
Check if you are able to ping Web sites. You can try the following steps:
    a. click on the Windows "Start" button, then select the 'Run' utility in the start menu.

    b. Enter the following command in the field 'Open', then click 'OK ':
    cmd

Command prompt opens in a separate window.

    c. Type "ping" followed by the URL of the Web site, you are trying to ping. You must leave a space between the 'ping' and the URL.

For example, ping Yahoo.com, enter the following command:

    Ping www.yahoo.com

    d. apply the command by pressing the key "Enter" on the keyboard. You should see the information on statistics for the address ping IP is entered, including the number of packets sent, received or lost.

If there is no packet lost, your Internet connection is working normally. However, if there are packages that are lost, you may have a problem with your Internet connection.

  • Use the VCS to CUCM composition URI

But can not be used [email protected] / * / composition

Can VCS the [email protected] / * / of CUCM?

Or where I put in error?

I suggest that you have a good look through the VCS of Cisco and the deployment of CUCM Guide and verify that your configuration is at least similar to that proposed to allow calls between VCS and CUCM registered endpoints.  Looks like a lot that you are missing a search rule.

If the above has not resolved your problem, I suggest you move your discussion in the section Unified Communications Applications forums at the section of telepresence , where are discussed more actively to these types of devices.
