SRM with different DELL/EMC CLARiiON systems

I have a client who currently owns a Dell Clariion CX300. They seek to replace it with a CX4-120 and would send the CX300 to an offsite location for use as a solution using MRS. DR.

According to my research, I believe that this solution is possible using EMC RecoverPoint/SE to mirror, both on an IP network, but what is not clear is if I need is more SnapView and MirrorView (I don't think I do)

HA - that someone does something similar to this before and care to share their experiences?

Hi Sean

I am writing as an employee of EMC society UK VMware affinity team. Please see my responses below online

"I have a customer who currently has a Dell Clariion CX300. They seek to replace it with a CX4-120 and I would send the CX300 to an offsite location for use as a solution using MRS DR. »

> > > > It is possible - if as you suggest with the CX300 not support MirrorView based SRM (support for this begins with the CX3 family) the only way to achieve consistent SRM and SRM with the CX300 is through the use of RecoverPoint as you suggest

According to my research, I believe that this solution is possible using EMC RecoverPoint/SE to mirror, both on an IP network, but what is not clear is if I need is more SnapView and MirrorView (I don't think I do)

> > > > RecoverPoint uses its own capabilities in conjunction with a host, fabric based or CLARiiON based write splitter log all entries available to a designated SAN "volume of the journal. SnapView or MirrorView are required for this

> > > > the CX3 / generation CLARiiON CX4 supports the separator RecoverPoint CLARiiON that allows these units to split the writings of two VMS with RDM (which is a limitation when using the separator with ESX host - the host splitter only supports Microsoft VMs using RDM - so no support of the SRM) while being able to split the Scriptures volumes VMFS suitable for SRM.

> > > > fabric database splitting and splitting based CLARiiON are fully integrated with ESX, including support for Site Recovery Manager (in accordance with the comparability of VMware SRM Matrix) as the CX300 supports not the CLARiiON splitter - this gives you the choice of fabric-based splitting of the side DR using something like the Brocade 7600 or the switch Cisco SSM blade or 9222i Fabric my concern with what is the cost of implementation of a fabric RecoverPoint intelligent solution based on the side DR may exceed what the client will budget for his site of DR

> > > > According to the profile of the ESX data replicated to the site of DR it can be cost-effective to improve unity DR to another CX4-120 and use MirrorView together with SRM or if RecoverPoint remains the preferred - solution have CLARiiON both production and DR site able to support the CLARiiON RecoverPoint splitter

  • SRM with different CPU clusters?

    Hey guys,.

I can't find info on it so I hope someone can point me in the right direction.

In SRM, geographically dispersed clusters can have different CPU providers? A group would be entirely AMD and the other an Intel.

I have no experience with MRS whatsoever, and since the VM will be restarted remoetely I think that it would work. If it was me, I would

    remain consistent even if

Please consider my response as 'useful' or 'proper' marking

If I understand your question, you will not have a problem with different types of CPU in your clusters to protected site vs.recovery...  The only downside that I can think of is to old versions of Linux not having only not modules loaded into the kernel of the architecture of the chip.  I've personally done this and still have a single cluster of Intel that retrieves an AMD cluster, all virtual machines of RHEL 5.

  • DELL EMC CX600 FC SAN with ESX4.1 or ESX4 reference

Hello, I try to integrate with a Dell EMC CX - 600 existing ESX4. My ESX (QLOGIC QLE2460s) HBAs are connected to 16 ports (only 8-port active), FC of McData Sphereon 4400 switches. My first problem is that I can't access the first McData switch. I'm looking for my customer documentation in the hope to reset this option to the factory settings and rebuild the configs. It's neither here nor there. My main concern is that when I rescan my HBA in ESX, I see no LUNS. Also, I can not add the ESX Server to host my list in the mgmt of navisphere WITHOUT GUI. I read that even if the SAN is end of life, there is running ESX 4 with it, users. I also read that I wouldn't need to install the navisphere agent in the ESX service console. Can someone point me in the right direction? I have not all areas set up for the new ESX hosts. What is a bond? Forgive my ignorance, I'm not very experienced working with fiber channel. Any idea is appreciated. What could I do it wrong? I checked that the McData switch does not block ports ESX (a switch that I have access to). Thank you.

Unless you have zones configured on the switch, you will not get very far and will see the behavior you described.  You need enter this McData switch to configure the zones.

  • Stock of access with different Adobe ID without messing with my system ID

Outside the use of other libraries stock, I sometimes used a Dollar Photo - who bought Adobe.

Photo of a Dollar has always been a good resource for small editorial due to its price-point - discussion for another day...

Now that he's under the banner of Adobe, I have a problem of access to the services.

I created a separate "floating" adobe ID and cloud-account for a member of the team to a short-term contractor access to tools such as being an account that everyone in the company can use to access stock-guarantee. Makes it easy to control stock-spending and control.

I cannot use this account on my workstation, since it conflicts with my Adobe ID, connect, then Photoshop does not work, ask me to activate again...

Adobe stock is so useless to me unless I'm willing to go through it and use the demo files, connect different system, buy and send to myself.

How can I use it in a team setting where different members of the team with their own ID Adobe needs to access the stock market with the id of 'General' or 'shared' as we do with other actions-sites that we use.

Well, you can access an account created with a single ID when the account is created with a different code. It's like access to Facebook or any other site that requires authentication with different accounts.

Having said that you do not have a few other options. You just have to identify you on the site Web of Adobe Stock with the ID that you have set up with actions. You don't have to log out of your Adobe applications. Once in Stock you can allow the images and save them in a library. Simply share this library with your main account and you will have access to them. You can share this library with as many people that you have in your company. No additional connection or deactivation and activation required. And no need to use two computers.

Another option is to Stock for the teams. If you are using a fair share of images among other members of your team or your staff, maybe it's even a better road.

But using libraries (essentially the same as light boxes on other sites) you should easily be able to do what you need without having to change computers.

Hope that helps. If this is not the case, can you explain further your workflow and maybe I can be able to offer another solution for you.

  • Alignment of thread with different screen resolutions

I noticed that block diagram wire positions/alignments can change, sometimes significantly, by switching to screens with different resolutions.  There is a ton of information on the maintenance of the proportions on the front panel as the solution of problems, but I can't find how to mitigate the problem with the wires on the block diagram.  Does anyone know how to best handle this?

    Thank you!

I never noticed the block schema change due to screen resolutions.  I saw this kinds of problems during the change of system fonts.  For example, switching from XP to Win7 meant go to police Aero, which is a font more great than XP used to its default system font.

That's what I noticed as well.

The solution is to set the blockdiagram fonts in the LabVIEW.ini be specific font rather than a system font.

The network port is the port on the laptop (it is not that large - look around) that looks like a large phone connection.

You have a router/network to connect to and a cable network to connect with?

  • If I can reinstall XP pro on a 'white box' PC using a disk with a Dell or HP? I have my product key. If I can't, then what?

My 'white box' PC is all buggy after a lot of use, and I want to start with a reinstall.  I have my product key XP Pro but no media.  Can I use a disc that came with a Dell, HP or other PC manufacturer?  The steps, what are my options.

    Thanks for responding.

No, you cannot use your support Dell/HP OEM to install XP on a generic computer built. Installation media more computers brand is locked in BIOS for motherboard of that OEM (Dells are). In addition, most HPs have just a recovery disc and not a real disk operating system. As for using the product key you have, it's from the CD that you used initially install XP on the generic construction machine? If so, will need you a corresponding version installation CD; namely the retail Home/Pro/MCE or generic OEM Home/Pro/MCE.

1 no, the registry cleaners can give you immediate relief, but they are a big pain in the long term.
