SSD drive on pavilion dv9252eu - AHCI

Hello

I was wondering if it was possible to enable the AHCI on my pavilion on Windows 7 dv9252eu.

Thank you very much

Kind regards

Hello:

The chipset nVidia in your model does not support the AHCI or RAID, it's why AHCI cannot be activated.

Only Intel based dv9xxx models have AHCI support.

  • HP Pavilion 15-p211ne: upgrade to ssd drive

    Hello

I recently bought a new HP Pavilion 15-p211ne and I want to replace the optical drive with ssd drive, I have the following questions:
1 should I put the SSD as a secondary drive and reinstall windows, or it must be primary?
    2. What is the right size: 9.5 mm Universal SATA 2nd disc HARD SSD Hard Drive Caddy for CD / DVD-ROM optical Bay or 12.7 mm
    3. is there an official Universal SATA drive 2nd HARD SSD Caddy drive for CD / DVD-ROM optical Bay of HP, and is it safe to install no hp caddy on my new laptop computer.

    Kind regards

    Here is the Service Manual:

    Manual

It is a 9.5 mm optical drive. See page 63 for removal instructions. You can use any optical drive SATA 9.5 mm hard drive adapter tray. HP is no 'official' part, so you must use a version of alternative, and they are widely available. Try jacobsparts.com.

However, the SATA interface for the optical drive is slower and will not support booting from the hard disk into the adapter. So I advise you not to put a SSD in one of these adapters because it will not run at full speed.

The optimal configuration is an SSD as main boot drive and a mechanical drive in pure storage adapter.

Unfortunately, access to the hard drive inside the laptop is a little difficult and potentially void the warranty if you mess up anything in the process. The manual contains instructions to access the hard disk (p. 88), and these videos show the removal of the top cover (on a closely related model) which is the hardest part:

I recommend the Samsung 840 Evo SSD. The price is usually very good and performance is also very good.

Hi, I would like to know that if I can change the current HDD with a SSD of Kingston 480 GB seria ata (sata) drive, my personal opinion is that I can, but I would like a confirmation of my hypothesis. Canord

Yes, you should be able to install and SSD drive in place of the built-in SATA HDD.

You should be able to find compatible HARD drives in the Service guide and maintnence for your laptop on the hp.com site.

  • M6-1035dx Pavilion: clone SSD drive cannot locate the recovery Partition

I recently bought a HD 500 GB of SSD to replace the original that came with the laptop.  The SSD drive I bought is slightly smaller than the original one.   I used the cloning software is Macrium.  Partitions, I am interested in cloning are the HPTools and recovery.  Stand have been cloned successfully by the software.  I put the active recovery as well.

After swapping the drives, the system starts the HPTools immediately, but the options for the restoration part are "grayed out".  I can't access it.  I tried several times, and this is where I am stuck.  It seems that the recovery partition is not detected by the cloned HPTools.

I do not have the recovery DVD, but I have the original HD with partitions intact and they work just fine because I recently test the recovery process.

I missed well to clone the original HD somehow that the SSD is unable to detect the partition?  Maybe I missed a step?  The difference in the size of the hard drive causes a problem in the recovery process?  How can I remedy the situation and use my new SSD?

Thank you for all your advice.

Try the complete sector-by-sector disk cloning.  If you use Macrium, you will need a paid version. The free version just do enough for the advanced cloning procedure you need.  See the following web document to compare versions.

    http://www.Macrium.com/reflectfree.aspx

BTW, an SSD detects nothing. This is the BIOS and the operating system that detects hardware, firmware and software.

You can use HP recovery media successfully on an SSD or not, that has at least 160 GB of capacity. Your 500 GB SSD certainly has enough capacity.

  • Re: Satellite R850-12R PT52CE Win7 sees no SSD drive

I have laptop Toshiba Satellite R850 - 12R PT52CE and recently bought Adata SP900 256 GB SSD drive.
BIOS can see this disc, but after I tried to install Windows 7 64-bit SP1, at the stage where I need to select the location to install it, it showed nothing.
So I can not select anything.

    What is a problem?
I tried to search for drivers for Windows 7 AHCI, but found that for XP.
In the BIOS, I tried to put AHCI also Compatible mode, but were also unsuccessful.

Would be nice if someone could share the solution.

    Hello

AHCI driver is not necessary for Win 7, since this win 7 already contains this driver.
What you can do is to add the Intel Rapid storage technology driver that is available on the European driver Toshiba page.

I put t see why the SSD doesn't have to be formatted before you start the installation of the OS.
I did it several times on my laptop where the HARD drive has been replaced with SSD drive.

During the installation of the system, you will be asked if you want to format the HDD/SSD to erase / format or create new partitions. You can do it if you want

    Hello

Much better now. The following link shows the specifications of your machine:

    http://support.HP.com/au-en/document/c02776731

It's a HP Pavilion dv7-6010eo. Currently it has 500 GB SATA (7200 RPM), you can switch to the SSD. You can also put a second HDD of your machine, but you need to caddy and connector. Please visit the following link:

I have a Pavilion a6010n.  It has two hard disks, but I would add a SSD drive.  Can I do this?  The system has also two CD/DVD drives.

    Hello

Please first check the spare SATA ports (bottom right: blue, yellow,...). If

    b it has alternative port,

    (b) there is the guest room,

You can add SSD to your machine. SSD being much smaller and thinner, you need a set of media and to connect SATA cable. Please see the following guide:

  • The Msata SSD on HP Pavilion 14-n033TX update

Hi, I bought my new laptop HP Pavilion 14-n033TX with SSD specified 24 GB cache. I want to upgrade the SSD in drive for windows startup and have more storage for SSDS? The specifications of the SSD I need? m sata, half size or size and what is the maximum size for this? Thank you.

There are several ways to do so. Several SSD (Samsung for example) is issued with migration software (CD), but you'll need an adapter usb to SATA like that.

    http://www.Amazon.com/Patuoxun-converter-adapter-cable-drive/DP/B008ASF5MC/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&QID=1407765939&SR=8-1&keywords=USB+to+SATA

Just connect the external SSD drive with this device and the boot of cloning a disk and follow the prompts to copy. Make sure the SSD you buy is greater than the data currently installed on the old drive. The clone will smoother copies two disks of the same size, but you can resize. Just be careful actual scores of Windows 8 that in some cases if you make them too small, you can't start or system of things like the Windows backup will not work.

If you have another external drive, you can also do a full Windows system backup and then restore the backup by using a Windows repair disk or OS installation disc.

Personally, I use Acronis True Image 2014 (older versions will not work with Windows 8).

    http://www.acronis.com/en-us/personal/pc-backup/?adpos=1t1&device=c&network=g&matchtype=b&creative=44836518617&gclid=Cj0KEQjw06GfBRCR9tDI4t6n5_MBEiQAFo6kuKlWUPWzHg3ZofpygwRHifSLDq0VVFocq9wW9ZF1gqMaAttq8P8HAQ

The trial version used to work for cloning, but they removed this feature. It costs $50 now; for me is worth I clone a lot of readers, but you probably want something for free.

When you cloned the old disk to the disk SSD just Exchange the SSD in laptop hard drive Bay.

  • Adding an SSD in HP Pavilion 15

    Hi all.

Consider buying an HP Pavilion 15 (model P002EJ ) to be precise.

It comes with i7 4510U, 12 GB RAM, 1 TB HDD and 15.6 "screen FHD.

I just wanted to ask: can I install an SSD in this laptop without removing the existing HARD drive?

Just add to the laptop or to replace the optical drive with SSD drive (or most certainly move the HARD disc instead of the optical drive using a few installation SSD and HDD Caddy where the original HARD drive was) is accepted. Replace the existing HDD (out of the laptopshould be the last resort, if nothing is possible.

Thanks much for any info and help!

P.S. I think the manual of this product is: http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c03883388.pdf

    Here's the manual I found:

    Manual

This is one of those without easy access service door, requiring disassembly very extended to the memory and the hard drive. These improvements are not allowed for end users and will cancel the guarantee. I wouldn't buy thinking to upgrade. The manual that you posted shows a service door which is not actually present on the model you want.
