• Problem with FMS http access

  I use FMS on CentOS-5 with Apache proxy on port 8134.

  It works great except for one thing: when I start the FMS and httpd services, everything is fine but after a while, say a day, access to the FMS with HTTP on port 80 is no longer . The connection is pending with no response on the client browser. At the same time, the RTMP:80 and HTTP:8134 work fine.

  It is quite disturbing, and he blocked for the moment of opening of our services because we want it available on HTTP:80.

  Looks like FMS HTTP proxy stops working after a few hours. Someone knows why?

• D3drm.dll is not loaded.

  I'm trying to run a program on my computer Flight Simulator and when I try to open a box pops up that says...   D3drm.dll is not loaded.  I have Windows7 so what do I do?

  OK found the answer!
  Download a file d3drm.dll from a reliable source. I used DLLdump.com.
  Copy and paste the file in the FMS file, under "computer / program files (x 86) / FMS /" not in "Windows/system 32 /" as they say at Microsoft.

• Foglight - JVM parameters

  All,

  Get a few errors of Foglight indicating my memory is low. I went into the foglight.conf and added these files, started the FMS and it won't start now.

  No idea where I was wrong?

  Foglight.VM.option0 = "-Xms6144m".

  Foglight.VM.option1 = "-Xmx6144m".

  Place a semicolon at the end of each line

  Server.VM.option0 = "-Xms512m"

  Server.VM.option1 = "-Xmx512m".

  Note: I pulled my examples of server.config version 5.6.2.

• Switch from Windows streaming Flash

  We used Windows Media Services multicast to our campus user 1500 with great success. We have been asked to move to the web and make our material available for streaming to a much wider audience. Streaming Flash seems to have everything that we need, but honestly we have no idea how to start. Is it (somewhere) a simple document step-by-step "Getting Started" that will guide us through our first video stream. We currently live or archived stream (multicast), so I'm happy with the help of live or archived files. I just need a few simple instructions. My experience of Windows Media does not help at all. Thank you.

  Anyone with experience in Actionscript (and some experience in client/server communications) should have no problem getting started with FMS.

  In regards to a simple guide... I don't really know everything. The thing with FMS is that, by itself, it does very little. Most of the other servers continuously do most of the heavy lifting for you, where FMS wants that tell you him what to do (where environmental complex scriping). The examples I linked to are about as simple as I've seen.

  Thanks for posting your question.

  Try these troubleshooting steps.

  1. open the control panel (in classic mode), and then choose Add new hardware.

  2. click Next, and then "Yes, I've already attached the new material", and then click Next again.

  3. scroll down, click on 'Add new hardware' (or something similar), and then click Next.

  4. "choose manually from a list", and then click Next.

  5. click on Ports (COM & LPT), click Next.

  6. in the left part, choose (Standard port types), on the right side, choose the communication port. Click Next, and then click Next again.

  7. you will get a message saying that the device is installed but not working may not. (Of course since we really did not add any material). Click Finish.

  8. open the Device Manager by holding down the Windows logo key and press the keypad lock. Select the material (or is it devices?) tab, and then click the button Device Manager.

  9. scroll the page up to Ports (COM & LPT) and expand it. You should now see a port for communication with a yellow and black! on this subject. In parentheses, it must be said the number this Com port is now in your system. For me, it's (COM4).

  10. open Notepad (or your favorite text editor). And paste the following text:

  Then replace the COM4 in the end with your number of ports Com as "COM1", if it must be different.

  11 save the file as fms_com_port_fix.reg to your desktop (or anywhere).

  12. go to your desktop, and then double-click the file. Approve your entire system can give you security warnings.

  This should be FMS should now start for you.

  WARNING: before you edit the registry, export the registry keys that you want to edit, or back up the whole registry. If a problem occurs, you can then follow the steps described in the section "Restore the registry" to restore the registry to its previous state. To back up the whole registry, use the backup utility to back up the system state. The system state includes the registry, the base of COM class registration + and your startup files.

  Someone can give me advice, why my FMS seems not respond when you click on the Infrastructure, hosts etc. The same seems to apply when you click on a dashboard. The blue circle little turn for a while, then disappears, without results.

  It's very frustrating.

  This is usually caused by either churn topology or lack of memory (i.e. the constant creation of new objects of topology in Foglight), which is quite expensive.

  Shortage of memeory is easily diagnosed on the dashboard of Management Server + diagnosis + Performance .

  Churn is a little more difficult.

  To check the rate of churn, create a support group, download and then look in the file DiagnosticSnapshot_YYYY-MM - DD_hhmms.txt-+ - "

• for fms services initialization script?

  VFoglight 6.6 under Linux.  Currently, when the server restarts, it must go and manually start the services fms ("" / opt/quest/FMS/bin/fms - d ' ").  I know that we can add to the inittab, but we prefer to have an initialization script where we could start, restart, stop, etc..  Is not difficult to write one, but I wonder if someone already has one that will allow them to share?

  To deploy the OS cartridge on new platforms such as Windows Server 2012 through the browser interface, you may need to enable the Show packets checkbox all platforms on the Agent Host dashboards or the status of the Agent show a package that is compatible with the platform.

  I have not seen the problem of 32-bit library occur on a Windows system before, I don't know if this could also be part of the question on Windows Server 2012, and what alternatives might be possible.

• Foglight FMS server

  I tried to see how to get the FMS of Foglight Server as it doesn't seem to be a product, what I am hoping is that, if I can get the FMS of Foglight Server I can fill a gap where I can get my Foglight NMS alerts in my current environment of SCOM.  I don't want to give up that I bought a few months ago to go to another product that has the integration of SCOM.

  Any info that it's possible would be greatly appreciated.

  (FMS) Foglight Management Server is indeed point principal of aggregation and integration of the Foglight framework. You can start the process of obtaining an administration here Server trial download: http://www.quest.com/foglight or by registering at support.quest.com.

  A high level overview you will need to do is:

  1. to organize a trial of the Foglight Management Server (you may want to work with our sales or pre-sales teams to get this set up)

  2. Once you have a FMS running, you will integrate your Foglight NMS information into the FMS using Foglight NMS integration cartridge.

  3. in addition to the cartridge of NMS integration, you'll need an additional integration Foglight cartridge - cartridge allows you to integrate with a variety of third parties, including SCOM FMS systems. There is a video on the SCOM integration that you can find here:

  Note that the video was made with vFoglight (which is simply the FMS put in place with a cartridge of monitoring VMWare), but also long as you have the Foglight cartridge for installed integrations, the process must be the same.

  I just built on a perfect 'test' FMS in vmware today. I would love to clone rather than go through this process again. Is there a simple way to rename a FMS server?

  Nothing in the system that requires a name change.

  Install your cartridges

  Clone the virtual computer and you have a good system, you can always start over.

  Just make sure that you do the same with the referential system as well.

• FMS 3.5 R2 2012 and with Wowza Server on the same server

  Is it possible to have my old FMS 3.5 on the same server, as I installed 3.6 Wowza?

  The server is windows Server R2 2012.

  I installed the FMS, but it does not start after installation and bat files cannot start/stop service either. It makes not a difference if I go to Services to start manually, the sample files still does not work.

  Any suggestions?

• FMS 4.5 livepkgr application breaks down Linux server using any memory

  We run FMS 4.5.7 associated with the application of the standard livepkgr for direct RTMP and HLS (HDS module disabled streamer). For some reason any after 30 minutes process httpd starts using memory system more and more, and in a minute or two, it blocks the server because it completely empty memory. It doesn't matter how many users are connected to the stream. What I've noticed, is that if there is no user HLS (or HLS is disabled) fine, however it is enough to connect at least one user TLS on the server after 30 minutes and the memory usage begins to increase. If the user connects to 0 - 30 minute window it market.

  I tried to play with the recording options in Event.xml for that stream to flow, but it did not help. I tried to save in a file and in segments.

  Our server has 32 GB of RAM.

  We have modified the file of Apache configuration for workflow Sandbox HLS at the instance level, but it should not be a problem, shouldn't it?

  P.S. We also run application vod in parallel for RTMP and HLS vod streaming. RTMP of VSD and CTS works very well.

  After two weeks, I finally solved it.

  Anyone faced with the same question, make sure you have the serial number of the license charge AND fully rebooted server. At least under Linux by restarting the server through Flash Media Administrator Console let some zombie processes running that blocks the license from loading correctly. Restart all OS instead.
