Startup speed

Hello world

I want to speed up the time it takes to start my computer.  I understand that the lower right corner of the Office contains a list of programs that are started automatically at startup.

How can I remove some of these programs to get a faster start.

Thank you
Bob

Hello Bob

Start/run and type

Msconfig

Ok

Startup tab

Keep the page open then click on the link below. It will tell you what are all the entries and see if you can disable them or not. It will also identify malicious programs.  Turn off everything that is not necessary to run at startup

http://www.SysInfo.org/StartupList.php

Read the key at the top of page. Use the search box to check all your entries

When you restart, you will get a message saying that you have begun in "Selective startup" click "don't show this message again" and then click OK

    Hello Bahramgur,

Your system might be infected, you will get better results by using safe mode, see below:

Try to start your system in safe mode:

    1. Restart your computer if it is running.
    2. Press and hold the F8 key after your computer powers initially on.
    3. Once you see the Advanced Boot Options menu (or beep) you can stop.
    4. Up/down arrow keys to highlight your selection.
    5. Select Mode safe mode with networking and press ENTER.
    6. You should see drivers loading, it may take a few moments.
    7. You should then be at the Welcome screen.
    8. Connect to your computer using an account with administrator privileges.
    9. Now, you download (free) MalwareBytes from here: http://download.cnet.com/Malwarebytes-Anti-Malware/3000-8022_4-10804572.html?tag=mncol install, Update then do a scan of your system in safe mode, to ensure that it is indeed clean! Once the scan done remove anything it finds. Simply restart your PC to see if your problem has been resolved!

  • Laptop HP 15 (r063tu): would replace drive HARD regular with SSD boost speed & performance significantly on my HP 15 laptop?

    Hello

Regular HGST (Hitachi) hard drive failed on my HP 15 laptop and I chose to replace it with a spare Seagate Momentus 500 GB HDD (because of the emergency). I read in some other posts on this forum that SSDs increase startup speed and general performance much more conventional hard drives. In addition, seems SSD uses less power and generates less heat, which is optimal for laptop computers. Although SSDS are still quite expensive compared to regular hard drives (a regular 500 Gb portable HDD costs about Rs. 3500, or about $50), all in an SSD with a capacity of 240 GB Samsung / available on Amazon.in Kingston costs about Rs. 5000 (about $70). Thus, a half of the capacity of a normal HARD drive SSD hard drive costs still much more

Would consider to replace my current HARD drive with an SSD if it's worth the investment (I intend to use this laptop for more than two years).

Also, please confirm if my model supports SSDS, as he has probably that one Bay to hold an SSD or a normal HARD drive. Would be useful you can offer a good/model mark of SSDS as well. Thank you very much.

I support the opinion of Hüffer about SSDS and laptops.

I replaced the spinner in my laptop HP 2011 with an SSD and it's like having a new machine.  It starts instantly and runs a lot faster, more I don't have to worry about the rotation drive going bad.

An SSD is the best investment to improve the performance of your laptop.

    Good luck

  • Pavilion Notebook 15-ab035TX: startup takes too ling after upgrade to 8.1 of Windows OS to Windows 10

I recently bought my new laptop and updated operating system of Windows 8.1 for Windows (64-bit) 10. I received a message saying that Realtek RTL8723BE Bluetooth Driver and Documentation HP had been turned off because they were incompatible with windows 10. I've updated all my drivers (except the driver bluetooth as he refused to do update - always either got stuck for hours or showed an error message). Since then, it takes too much time to complete initialization a\and commissioning of the operating system. (the process take a long time). Please suggest a way to speed up the boot process and probably update the bluetooth driver. (Bluetooth works fine even with no updated driver updated - I don't know how).

    Hey @MayankHPUser,

I understand that you are having problems with startup speed after an upgrade to windows 10. I'd be happy to help you.

My first recommendation would be to try to use the HP Support Assistant to update the missing drivers. You can also see if there is a BIOS update.

I would also suggest that try you this document of performance to speed things up: computers HP - computer is slow (Windows 8).

I have a Satellite L500, when to start it comes up with 'boot from a hard drive BBS' and that's where he stays. I tried to change the sequence of boot and startup speed.

  • Why my laptop startup time is smaller when is on battery?

When my laptop is plugged in it have a 45-55 s boot, and what is on battery it has a 30-35 start sec., why?

I have the startup speed of 20 seconds if I disable windows defender :)

    Hi Cristi,

Thanks for posting your question in the Microsoft community forum!

When the laptop is plugged in, it checks if the optimum voltage of the battery and that takes about 15 to 20 seconds. And also the startup time depends on the number of applications installed on the computer.

  • Director of launch speed

    Hello

I have an application Manager running on a CD and I am looking for a way to increase startup speed. I have set up with an external heel with all Xtras projector. On an imac G5, it takes 25 sec from the moment when I double click to what he actually started. However if I take the same exact files and copy them from the cd on the desk he embarked on a second or 2. One thought I had was it has something to do with a temp file he created called 'temp folder aaa' but I couldn't find anything. Another strange symptom is that it takes that since long the first time, after that they put the cd in the drive. The second time the application is launched, it opens almost at the speed on the desktop. Any ideas or advice would be appreciated. If you need any more details please just ask.

    Thank you

    Dave

Try to add a splash screen to make a few comments in the
start the process. A .bmp for Windows and .pct for Mac with the same name
    as your projector
Also, make sure your executable is written on the outside edge of the
disc can it help to load faster (greater angular speed at the edge of the th) - you
can cover pretty undesirable way (maybe 1 big file) drives to hit the size
limit of the disc and then use Toast/Nero to put the executable file last.

  • Is there a way to activate the addons automatically after a certain period of time

I have an addon called adblock more, when enabled, firefox takes 7 seconds to boot on my pc. When it is disabled, firefox only takes 3 seconds to start. I still want to use this addon without sacrifising startup speed of my pc. So I was wondering if there is a method that would allow me to activate the addon after the start of firefox. For example, after the startup of firefox in 3 seconds, it would allow himself in the background after 5 seconds.

No, this is not possible. All extensions must be loaded at startup. If you want to use an extension you have to accept some add more time to the start of Firefox.

  • Satellite Pro L850 - 1-8 - a few problems after the last update to BIOS version

    Hello.

I have some problems after that the latest bios upgrade to version 6.80. First of all, I would like to note that Setup of HW does not work for me. I tried to use this tool to change the settings of the bios without success. This was done also by running this application with administrative privileges without success.

The initial problem appeared after I tried to disable "open Panel - Power on" setting.
This has been activated before the update bios and at some point I wanted to disable, because he gave me a nightmare when you carry because she would then put the computer in a bag.

No matter how many times I tried to turn it off, it seems always enabled in HWsetup.
Another feature that I can't edit's startup speed.
It remains fast even if I tried to change to normal.

    I'm on Windows x 64 8.
    The case is now.

    GROUP OF EXPERTS
HWsetup reports Open PANEL - PANEL as activated, while the Bios shows it off. It is indeed turned on and I could not turn it off. I even tried him for in the Bios and then try to disable in HWsetup, no change.
    STARTUP SPEED
HWsetup startup speed related to 'NORMAL' but actually is 'FAST '. In the Bios, it reports its normal, but its easy to say to his FASTING in.

    My questions are.
    1. it can be the cause?
    2. How can I reset all of the values in the Bios to see if that fixes anything to start?
    3. is it possible to Flash the Bios with a version more old to see if this corrects the problems I have?

I should also mention that 'System settings' has never worked for me. I get a message "Supervisor password check failed". Please note, there is no installed password.

I will be grateful for any given solution. Thanks in advance.

Can you please tell us which model of laptop you have exactly (the complete model name)?

I don't know what you've done and why this happens, but what you can do is to check if the quick start option is enabled.
Open Toshiba Assist > optimize > HWSetup > priority Boot and check the startup speed option it.
Remember that it is set to Normal.

    Please, check and send comments.

  • Satellite P755 - Bios is not accessible, but Windows works

    Hi all

I have a big problem with my computer. My Bios does not appear...
At the exit of Windows 8, I did a full format on my computer to accommodate this new OS with beauty. Some time later, I installed Ubuntu 12.04 in Dual-Boot.
One of the two facilities are doing? lost me the BIOS, let me explain:

Knowing that my computer is a Toshiba, normally, when I start, the first image that appears on the screen is the Toshiba logo and down ' press F * to access the BIOS. " But I have no more of this logo, instead, I Dual-Boot option appears asking me to choose one of the two BONES (I think it's the GRUB, I'm not sure, but he was purple, so...). After selecting one of the two BONES, I go straight to the page load of the chosen one.

I didn't get worse, so I left it because it wasn't bothering me... until last night.
My computer was getting a bit slow, I decided to format it again, but as I said, I have no BIOS, so not boot via DVD at startup. I had to format by Windows, leaving behind the Windows.old folder on the hard disk. But I wanted to fix my famous problem at the same time, so I decided to uninstall Ubuntu and install Windows 7 instead of 8.

Everything was going well with uninstall and install.

Win7 is restarted, still no Toshiba logo, and I get the Dual-Boot option, as before, asking me to choose between Ubuntu and Win7 (I already uninstalled Ubuntu), but this time, the screen is not "purple", it is black...

When I'm on the Dual-Boot, there are only two buttons that work, the F8 and F10.

    When I press F10, I have this:

    Change startup options: Windows 7
    path-windows-system32-winload.exe
    Score: 2
    hard drive: 97f097f0

    / Noexecute = optin

When I press F8, I enter the menu of Windows repair, where there restore Windows, command prompt, repair Windows, etc...
I tried a few things, typed on the command line like fixmbr, etc, but nothing worked

I'm stuck on Windows 7 without Bios and a Dual - Boot does not work, I don't know what to do...
I've looked everywhere where my problem comes from, but does not have the awnser.

For more information, I have a Toshiba P755.

Well, I hope someone answer, even though I know that this problem is a bit weird...

Thanks in advance to all who will try ^^

I think that the dual boot is always available in the Master Boot Record (MBR) and so this double menu boot appears to turn on/off the device.
But this should not prevent the notebook to access the BIOS.
Usually, you can access the BIOS by pressing F2 while turning on the laptop.
I recommend that you press this several times in the line.

However, I think that the reason why the Toshiba screen projection does not appear is simple: in my view the QuickStart has been enabled in the BIOS.

You will find the option called startup speed in BIOS-> Advanced tab.
    Usually its normal value.

If his play on Fast, the BIOS should start from disk built-in HARD (or SSD), the laptop would support only the LCD and keyboard internal and does not display Toshiba Startup logo. Therefore, put again to normal.

In which case you would not be able to access the BIOS by pressing F2, I recommend to remove the portable computer HARD drive and turn on the unit without the HARD drive.
Then press F2 to enter the BIOS
