Static DNS problems
Generally, it's a good idea to put the modem in Bridge mode. However, it will not work for you: you use PPPoA on the line. When you put the modem into bridge mode, it works as a modem only. Your router must be able to PPPoA then which I doubt it will be.
I don't know what modes of operation of the modem has. So I can only guess here. But I guess the only way to get this to work would be to leave the modem in router mode. Then, you use the BEF as a router to your local network. Therefore, you must configure a different subnet on the BEF for your local network. Otherwise, you have address conflicts. You can choose the LAN IP address 192.168.2.1 for your BEF with subnet mask 255.255.255.0. Configure the internet connection of the BEF for DHCP. Now connect the modem to the internet port of the BEF. Also all the clients on your network must use DHCP for IP and DNS address.
This installation should work to provide you with an internet connection and access DNS. Check if / what works with this configuration. You should always check the modem and the manual to see what modes of operation it has let me know. We may find a better solution.

EA6200 IS NOT WITH THE HELP OF STATIC DNS
I had the EA6200 weeks and set up out of a NVG589 of TA &T; has not worked well, no problem at all using the AT & T modem as the DNS server. I just noticed that there is an update of firmware for this model, up to 1.1.41.164830; so, I got the router install it. But now I was making errors on all my devices, saying that the DNS server is not responding. I have sailed on the section of 'Connectivity' and the 'Local network' tab and my static DNS is as it was before the update of the firmware. But when I connect a device to the router, the network parameters show that she tries to use the network personalized ID I have install the router, rather than the static DNS that I've locked in the router settings.
The only way I am able to get online and write this message from my laptop now is because I had to go into CMD and put the static DNS for the laptop computer, manually, to the IP address of the modem from AT & T. DHCP should be handling this according to my settings, but it's not.
If anyone has experienced this before? Is this a firmware issue? Should I go back or understand this?
before you go back, try a factory reset by pressing the Red reset button until it restarts, then cut off the power. After 10 seconds the power turn on and when it is completely started config it from scratch and it should be ok. Of course this will eliminate all the settings you had including the password which will then return to "admin" be aware of this before you start.

Hi friends.
I'm trying to configure a local DNS server to manage domain names local only to the small office for our servers. I have the DNS works correctly (set the local machines and using the dns of your ISP if this is impossible). so I put the ip of the DNS server in the field 'Static DNS 1' of the configuration of the router. 2 other static dns fields are empty.
the problem is that the router always uses the ISP as the primary dns server and my local dns server as secondary. I check this in two places. first of all, if I go to the 'status' tab, DNS 1 shows the ISP server while DNS 2 shows my local DNS server. Then, if I connect to the device wirelessly with a linux machine, the /etc/resolv.conf file contains the IP addresses of name servers in the wrong order.
can someone tell me why the router is disobey my settings?
Thank you very much.
You have a static IP address provided by your ISP or just static DNS addresses, your router's Internet Connection Type must be set to the static IP address and you should have by default the IP address, subnet mask, gateway and addresses entered DNS... If you entered just the DNS addresses it won't work...

I got a work around for the unable to download problem error 8024402C updated on a new laptop WIN7 Starter running. I get regarding the size of the update and starts to download, but nothing comes down. The solution is to change the DNS settings of default for a manually configured DNS server, for example 4.2.2.2. It works, but I wonder why, and what is he moving?
The auto setting worked when I was in the United States connecting via a LAN in the hotel but not here at home in AUS, where the settings auto search for an address DNS 192.168.1.1, my router ADSL/2. All other functions like Skype, Adobe updated, download of MS shop, all work very well using 192.168.1.1. Also my XP Home PC, all use 192.168.1.1 and they get the updates without any problem.
-What is someone able to explain why?
Thank you
Hi ascidiens,
The 0x8024402C error codes typically occur because there is an incorrect character in substitution of proxy settings. Basically, it's something to do with the proxy of your connection settings network and which can be overcome by changing the DNS settings in manual.
Bad adjustment System (DNS) domain name of your network connection may also cause this error. Update Windows servers are accessible through DNS servers configured for Internet access. If a local DNS server has changed for some reason, the Windows Update client isn't able to find and connect to the Windows Update server.
I would like to know if refer to a Microsoft article to work around this problem by changing the settings default for a manually configured DNS server DNS (Domain Name System).
I would say to you to follow the steps mentioned in the link below for the complete solution of the problem

I'm doing a static route to xxx.242.139.164 to 192.168.1.13 and open ports 25 and 443. I am at a loss for what I missed to make this happen. I would also like to open the ICMP traffic or at the least response to echo so I can test the IP addresses and that doesn't seem to work either.
PIX config attached .txt file.
Thanks for any help!
Hi Comoms,
This is your problem:
(1) here say you do not NAT traffic.
NAT (inside) 0-list of access inside_outbound_nat0_acl
inside_outbound_nat0_acl ip access list allow any xxx.242.139.160 255.255.255.224
(2) then you use it for the static NAT.
public static xxx.242.139.164 (Interior, exterior) 192.168.1.13 dns netmask 255.255.255.255 0 0
(3) it's totally fake, first u say don't not NAT traffic, try you NAT, it. How will it work?
(4) even if uou help with ACL, it won't work.
(5) Please check your routes n NAT ACL, NAT STATIC, once again.

Internet/DNS problems in a NAT Windows Server guest domain
Guys, I'm sorry if someone posted a similar question before, but I couldn't find everything concerning my problem using the tool of research or surfinf nets.
I have a domain controller Windows Server 2008 R2 running in a Vmware Workstation 7.1.6 / Windows 7 Enterprise x 64. I use the NAT option for the network, because I need to use this virtual machine to several different networks and a domain controller needs a fixed IP address. The DNS is correctly configured to forward and reverse and the nslookup returns the IP address and the host name of the guest.
The problem is that I can't connect to Internet in Virtual Machine, if I configure a fixed IP address (I am disabling the DHCP of VMware service at the moment). If I change in dynamics and start the VMware DHCP service, I don't have any problems.
I looked at the gateway, the DNS and the mask subnet values provided by the ipconfig/all command when the server uses a dynamic address and the server if setuped values of static. It did not work.
Anyone have a tip for this desperate man?
Because the domain controller is also running the DNS server, I guess that DNS serer entries in the client IP settings point to the guest himself!
If you are able to ping to Internet addresses by its IP address, you may need to configure the DNS server on the domain controller to transfer DNS queries for other areas to the (usually 192.168.xxx.2) NAT gateway for proper name resolution.

Weird DNS problem - solves Alias but not CNAME
I use the DNS server role on Windows Server 2012 R2 on a physical machine on my home network.
3 of my 5 machines are working properly and I can solve real host as alias names, but on 2 other machines, I can't resolve host names real (with Ping) even though I can still resolve alias - which seems really odd to me. .
.10 - server 2012 (physical) R2 - both Alias and CNAME ping. (Displayed IPv4).
.20 - server 2012 (virtual) R2 - both Alias and CNAME ping. (Displayed IPv4).
.21 pings - 2012 R2 (virtual) server - CNAME, Alias (displayed) ipV4 does not ping. Nslookup can resolve CNAME.
.22 pings - 2012 R2 (virtual) server - ipv4 (displayed) Alias, CNAME also Pings but displayed ipV6
.99 - Windows 7 (virtual) - Alias pings (display ipV4), CNAME not not ping. NSLookup can resolve CNAME.
All of the above machines are members of the same domain and that you have a single DNS server assigned (. 10)
Given that 3 of the 5 machines are able to resolve the names, I have to assume that the DNS server is configured correctly.
The computers seem to be set up exactly the same way.
In all pings/research, I used the fully qualified host name and the fully qualified domain name.
This could be the cause and how can I solve this problem?
Thanks in advance to anyone who answer.

All computers on a network cannot browse a specific external site - Possible DNS problem?
Hi all
The categories are too vague hope so I'm in the right forum... I have IE8, Windows 2008 R2, Question of DNS...
We migrated from Windows 2000 to a Windows 2008 R2 domain 2 months ago. There has not been all problem reports since then and I'm to understand that all of their sites they are functioning normally, have been finding work subsequently... Now, the strangest thing is that all the sites that they want to go to all work properly with the exception of this specific site (www dot careerbuilderdotcom) so far.
Checked the PING WWWdotCAREERBUILDERdotCOM
(in case of failure may be due to the blocked ICMP) several computers and it does solve one of their IPS (208.82.7.50), indicating the DNS works and solve correctly... Tested accessing this site in particular, many computers and fails this site only. Tested also the computers outside the network to access the site in question and that they can browse correctly indicating that this is NOT the site...
Checked entered DNS and restart the DNS service without result. Does DNSFLUSH on all of the computers in question and are still unable to access this site.
It seems not to be a DNS issue. Can anyone provide additional lighting at the entrance and knowledge to solve this problem?

Hello.
I use a Toshiba laptop with Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit.
I just have a modem and use a router. I have a network cable (cat 5) connected to my laptop and the modem. I have log-on internet and it connects. But when I open Google Chrome, IE9 or Firefox I can not load a web page. Google mentions something about the DNS cannot be found and DNS_Probe_Finished_No Internet.Frefox says server not found.
I click on the Menu start - Connect To - I am logged in. I already typed my password in the command prompt and appropriate the pppoe connection/address (I use ADSL).
I talked to my ISP and we tried to do certain things. But nothing works. On their end, it shows that I am connected. But I can't browse the internet. We tried to have the DNS and IP address for ipv4 set to obtain automatically and I put 2 numbers of DNS in manually once the settings have been changed to the favorite servers and DNS auxiliary, or worked.
Using command prompt, the DNS has been emptied. It did not help. The modem has been reset the ISP location. I also recreated and set up a new network connection.
My office is using the same pppoe information. I can freely browse the internet and I use Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit. I was also shown to be connected simultaneously with both machines, but that the Office can go.
I do not have Windows Update the laptop since on April 2016. It has not been used and the battery was empty. I tried to turn off the laptop several times, but nothing works.
Y at - it suggestions to solve this problem? At that time perhaps a re - install will work.
System Restore worked. I will run the updates and see what happens.
I think it was a program that I uninstalled in programs and features.

Primary DNS problem - constantly loss of Internet connectivity
I've had this problem for some time now and I have not yet found a solution.
I use a laptop Toshiba A215-S7422 (Vista). He has been nothing but a pain to operate, many errors and problems. But, I shouldn't use a Toshiba anyway...
It loses Internet constantly. I have to keep diagnosing the problem, and it's always a primary DNS error. I use 2 other computers and they work fine, so I don't think it's my network.
Go to the website of the manufacturer of your router > make sure you have the latest Firmware in Vista for it.
Go to the website of the manufacturer of your computer/notebook > drivers and downloads Section > key in your model number > look for it last network adapters Vista drivers > download/install the.

Try without commitment TCP/IPv6:
If you still have internet connection probs, one thing to try is the separation of the TCP/IPv6 (which is done by going to network connection > right click > properties > it uncheck > OK.)

Hello
I wonder if anyone has seen this problem. I just upgraded my NSA3600 to version 6.2.0 to 6.2.2.1 - 14n and now none of my MAC OS x clients that use the Sonicwal Mobile Connect application has no DNS. You can test by IP and use NSLOOKUP to find the records dns, but if you try to ping or access what either by its name it does not work.
Everything worked perfectly before the upgrade to 6.2.2.1
Thank you for this information, but it was not useful in this case because everything worked until I upgraded from 6.2.0 to 6.2.2.
I just got got off the phone with Sonicwall support and there is a bug in the 6.2.2.1 - 14n and they gave me with a firmware fix. version 6.2.2.1 - 14n-HF156864-1n and everything is in working order.
