stderr on Simulator

Hello

Where can I find the newspapers printed to stderr when running the app on a Simulator?

The QNX Momentics Console tab is empty.

You use something similar to this?

fprintf (stderr, 'something in stderr');

Or using C++ ECRR? What version of NDK do you use? I just tried on NDK 2.0.0 beta 3 and it looks good, both stdout and stderr is written on the console (although I expect the stderr to be red; I'll look into that).

However, you should be able to see the output logs to /logs inside the target file system.

You can easily access this file via a SSH connection to your device (to the QNX, right click on your target system information view and selecting "start SSH session".)

  • GoodCitizen example Orientation events in Simulator v1

good, someone at - it actually get GoodCitizen to work with landscape/portrait changes in the Simulator?

first of all, I had to add 'true'.

at the helm - descriptor.xml to get even the events of the direction received by the app.

not a promising start for an application 'example '.

If you start the app in landscape mode, then perform an angular upsweep of the lower right

It rotates, but creates a small greyish window on the bottom of the screen and you do not

    See the cube rotating.

If you re-coup from lower right, that he returned to landscape mode and things/cube work once again.

If you start the application in portrait mode, the screen is totally black, no small greyish window even.

a blow to turn you receives in a mode of work beautiful landscape.

    I put a fprintf (stderr, "surface_width = %d, height=%d\n"...)

in the function resize() and regardless of orientation you * always * get a surface width

of 1024 and a height of 600. It seems wrong to.

Thus, anyone actually get this GoodCitizen be good with orientation in the simulator of the v1?

    Good afternoon dnp.

A few notes on your desktop.

    1. you seem to have a fairly old version of things. Please go to this URL and download the latest SDK and Simulator

    https://bdsc.webapps.BlackBerry.com/native/download/

Your Simulator should be 2.0.0.7971 (BlackBerryPlayBookSimulator-Installer-2.0.0-7971-Win-201202221232.exe) and SDk should be thus 7971 (installer-bbndk-2.0.0-win32-7971-201202171813-201202181253.exe installer).

    2. I suppose that you created a GoodCitizen project in the IDE. I ran a quick test like myself and noticed that bar - descriptor.xml has no parameters of a good when a project is created through FDI or downloaded here:

    https://bdsc.webapps.BlackBerry.com/native/sampleapps

Yes, thank you very much for this bring to my attention. I contacted the team that is responsible for the maintenance of these places and they will be resolved short of time.

For later use, there are a github repo that has all the native samples. It has all flags necessary bar-descriptor (that this plug in Board is maintained by authors of the actual sample)

    https://github.com/BlackBerry/NDK-samples/tree/master/GoodCitizen

For example, to quickly sum things - update your sdk and Simulator, get the GoodCitizen correct out of the github and things will work. Meanwhile, let's fix the IDE samples and devportal.

And let me know if you have problems with this.

  • Ripple error deployment to the simulator fails

Hi, I'm taking my first steps in development of BB. My company asked me to do a BB - app with IBM work lamp. I installed the SDK Webworks, waving and a BB Simulator (model 9900). I also added the necessary environment variables on Windows 7. I did a hybrid application that contains the html, css and javascript. After the creation and deployment of the local console of the work light, I can open the app with ripple. After the start of the services, I can pack and start the work of packing App., but the deployment on the simulator fails. I get the following error:

    Spawning Simulator 9900 - 7.0.0.384...

stderr: CreateProcessW: the system cannot find the specified file.

    Exit take flight for 9900 - 7.0.0.384

I have seen this error on the forum, but others had when packing. I get it through to the Simulator. Can someone help me with this?

I solved my problem by choosing another Simulator, 9860-model. Ripple now starts the Simulator, which is extremely slow. The hotswap function crashes immediately, but the Simulator works with my application. However I am concerned that blackberry development tools is so buggy. But as long as I don'tn use the simulator that's good enough.

  • Get the output of the console on Simulator BB10

Is it possible to access the console (or at least the stderr) output a basic NDK application deployed to the simulator of th?  I tried telnet in the Simulator to run it, but the devuser does not have permissions on the files of the app.

Or maybe is there a log of debugging as for Android?

I would like if possible, avoid using the IDE for this.

You don't actually run the console application, but you can use command line tools to look at the output of the application log.

Basically SSH into it (it is not really Telnet) and navigate to the folder of the application under the/accounts/1000/appdata /... then run "tail-f newspaper/journal" after the launch of the app, or just "cat/journal of newspapers". If the output you are interested is no longer attend balls/journal because of the new substance slogger2, you would use a variant of 'slog2info w' instead.

You are quite correct that attempting to run the application from the console did not give him the same environment and except in a very few cases, it serves no real purpose.

    Hello

How can implement you not with Time Capsule and AirPort their simulation on the iMac?

    I don't know what you're asking.

AirPort Extreme is a wireless router.

A Time Capsule airport is an AirPort Extreme with a built-in hard drive for data storage.

An iMac is a Mac computer.

An iMac is not a wireless router, so he is unable to perform the functions of a wireless router.

  • Poor performance on Trainz Simulator 2

I play Trainz simulator 2 for the Macbook, and I seem to get low performance if I have high video settings or if I'm weak on battery. I would like some advice on what are the best settings for my graphics of Trainz.

    Here are my specs:

MacBook Pro (retina, 13 inch, mid-2014)

    2.6 GHz Intel Core i5

    8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3

    Iris 1536 MB Intel

    Welcome to Apple Support communities

The behavior you describe is normal. Your Mac's only got a GPU integrated, so he can fight with the games running in circles of high quality, and Macs are defined to reduce performance when they run out of battery (to avoid a stop).

The key is to find the right settings for your game to get a decent yield with good quality. Try to choose quality settings average and if that wasn't enough, low quality settings. A MacBook Pro 13 inch with Retina display is certainly not designed to play games with it.

  • Simulator of an operating system of Firefox on firefox nightly

Even if I downloaded firefox OS on firefox nightly Simulator, it apear dosen't here: Tools - web developer - suppose to be there, but it doesn't , but it works on the normal firefox.

The new location for the Simulator and a few other Firefox OS developer tools is located under Tools > Web Developer > App Manager.

If so, would you please choose this answer as your solution? This would help other Firefox users to find help on the forums faster and more efficiently. Thank you!

It may be that this has to do with the privacy settings or work in private browsing mode. He disappeared in the menu when I changed my settings, I noticed. However, you can always get to it. Put this in your address bar (you can bookmark). This may change in the future, but for now, it works for me.
