Steps to troubleshoot common internet navigation

Most often when browsing the internet and things just don't work right and you receive errors, it is usually a miracle solution that can do everything work smoother and much more reliable.

Here we will try to capture them all in a repository and to act as a catch all one stop shop for your navigation problem.

The main culprit when it comes to problems is modules or plugins. Different browsers will call them different things. For the sake of this document, what should we say? AddIns? Plugons? Neither sounds right. Let's go with plugins like this seems to be the most common term of the two. Just know that if you hear of Add-ons that are not different than plugins and each should be treated like any other.

Plugins cause problems with navigation because they are developed and created by third-party developers. They are then tested by third-party developers and have not been tested against the compatibility against other plugins and all Web sites. Because there are so many variables and it is such a stranger if you call Microsoft, or supported any other company that takes a product that supports plugins, he wants you to disable and remove plugins to take them out of the picture and to dismiss them as a factor.

To remove the plugins in Internet Explorer, we go to tools and from there you'll see Manage Add-ons. From there you will see this screen

It uses by default to the currently loaded modules which is what we want to and you will see the add-ins that are installed with the browser. Some add-ons that you know are there because you want to while some of them are sneaky ninjas that are there during the installation of software on your computer. These are generally not malware or something like that, but rather that one option you do not check during the installation of your favorite programs.

You will notice beside that each module name is the Publisher and status. The first key area is the Publisher, if the module is a Publisher, you do not know or trust, the best recommendation is to disable it and remove it. If all modules are developers of trust and are safe, we always want to turn them off to run Internet Explorer in a State of stock. After we put the change in place, we need to restart Internet Explorer to see if changes to permit. If this is not the case, try other options.

Then, we look at the cache (pronounced cash, but not as exciting). The cache stores the pages that you visit on the web, and its intention is to record a "copy" or cache this page so that the next time you visit the page, it is faster and loads faster. Ideal in theory and usually great in concept, sometimes it breaks everything. With this cache your computer has cookies. Cache and cookies, this will be awesome! No!

Cookies store information about the site you visit and help record information back in. This will include the names username, shopping cart, selections in forms and data authentication data. Bad cookies (you know, more cooked) can cause the pages of the computer do not respond correctly or give poor results. That being said, let's go back in our configurations of Internet Explorer and delete the cache and cookies.

We will do this by going to tools and Internet Options. Here you will see two buttons and navigation history, we want the button Delete. When you do you will see a screen similar to this one

You want the checked options we are rid of (usually by default everything is which is better) and delete them from your computer by pressing this button remove. Restart Internet explore and see how things work. If we still have problems there is a little more drastic even if effective approach we can take questions.

Start over from scratch. Almost every program has a restore to the default settings. Why did do this? Because there are so many settings and users we love poke and prod and change things. Sometimes change things so that they will not work and we did not write these parameters down, so it is unclear what that they initially where. To fix, uninstall / reinstall. Great, now I have to remember my settings again. To mitigate this we woke up and added the ability to restore settings and IE is no different.

If you need to restore all your Internet Explorer settings back to how they were when Microsoft bundled upward and has sent, then you want to go to tools, Internet Options, and then click the Advanced tab.

As a side note, I always feel a little smarter by looking at the Advanced tab or the advanced program options, makes me feel proud that I "go".

Anyway, when you get to this screen, we will see that

Press that reset button, restart Windows and presto, we're back to a virgin state of IE. Beautiful isn't it.

This is intended to help common problems of navigation with the Internet. If your question is not resolved by doing the following steps create a new thread accurately document everything that you did to help solve the problem and we will help you.

Make sure that you advise the steps you've already done, so we do not have the same steps again.

I would like to know if you have any comments or observations regarding the steps.

    Network power cycle:
    1. turn off your laptop.
    2. unplug the power to your router.
    3. disconnect the power to your modem.
    4. wait at least 45 seconds.
5 reconnect the modem and wait for it to come back online.
6 plug in the router and wait for it to come back online.

    2. right-click on the command prompt icon and select run as administrator.
    3. in the window that opens type "netsh int ip reset resetlog.txt" without the quotes and press ENTER.
4 restart your PC and test.

It can also help to reset the winsock catalog:

    2. right-click on the command prompt icon and select run as administrator.
    3. in the window that opens type "netsh winsock reset" without the quotes, and then press ENTER.
4 restart your PC and test.

    Reinstall the NIC drivers:
    1. download the drivers from here , but do not run them again.
    2. go to your Start menu/screen and type Device Manager.
    3. expand network adapters.
    4. right click on the wireless adapter and choose uninstall.
5 install the drivers downloaded in step 1.
    6. restart your PC and test.

    Test an Ethernet connection:
Explicit. Test if the problem persists on a wired connection to the adapter hardware troubleshooting wireless can be directed to the appropriate areas.

    Test another connection:
Many people excluded their home network as a problem if another device working on the same network. Networking is not as simple as that. Each device interacts differently with your router or modem and it is impossible to exclude the settings for this device until the laptop has been tested on another network.

If these steps do not resolve the problem, try this document published by Microsoft for network management issues: wired and wireless network problems. You can change the operating system with the drop-down menu in the upper right corner of the document.

The above steps are presented by @Great-Christine-Tree

I hope this helps. If so, please hit the Thumbs Up and accept as a Solution.

  • Loss of Internet connection and Windows 7

In our headquarters, we have a desktop system running Windows 7, but also an iMac.  The two are connected to Apple's Time Capsule, which serves as a router and a backup for the iMac hard drive. (our Internet connection is cable Internet, by the way.)

Since upgrading from Windows Vista to Windows 7, the Windows 7 Desktop faces of frequent Internet connection errors.  Generally, it loses the connection to the Internet several times per day.

Today, it's the worst event we've seen so far (since the upgrade to Windows 7 last week).  We usually only an Internet connection for about 2-3 minutes, then it is lost and needs to be repaired.

We enter the control panel > network and sharing Center > issues > Internet connections

Let us Windows 7 automatically diagnose and repair the problem.

Whenever he goes through the stages of diagnosis and repair, it ends by "reset the connection area card."

At the end of the process - after everything has been repaired - we get the following report:

"Default gateway is not available - fixed.

Should what measures we take to permanently solve this problem?

Moreover, the iMac does NOT have Internet connection issues whatsoever.

    Thanks in advance!

I don't know what you use to assign addresses, so I guess it's a router of some sort. You will need to go to the website of manufacturers, look at the manual and know how to limit the DHCP address field. I changed mine to limit the address 192.168.1.200 thanks 192.168.1.250 DHCP assignment. Your router can use the 10. subnet, so your address may be different, depends on the manufacturer of the router, or if you use a DHCP, the scope with the DHCP server. Gives me 50 IP addresses for all the guests who may want to use wired or wireless connections and should be more than enough. This allows me to attributed to the 192.168.1.1 through 192.168.1.199 a device and not having to worry about the DHCP server, you try to use one that is applied continuously to a device (printer, switch, PC, server, virtual server, etc.).

Once this configuration of your router, you will now need to assign a static ip address to your PC. All this is done for the network card.

    On the start menu:
    Control Panel
    Network and Internet
    Network and sharing Center
In the right pane of network and sharing Center
Change the settings of the card
    Double-click your network adapter
    Check the box «Détails»
    Note the following lines:
Connection specific DNS (may or may not exist, depends on the provider)
    IPv4 subnet
    IPv4 default gateway
    IPv4 DNS servers

Once you have written those down, you can close this box.
You should be back at the "Local Area Connection Status" box.
    Select the option "Properties".
Select 'Internet Protocol version 4 (TCP/IPv4)', which will be in a blue when selected.
    Now, select the option "Properties".
"IP version 4 (TCP/IPv4) properties" box should have popped up. If so:
    Select the following text:
    "Use following IP address".
In the IP address box, enter an IP address. Example: 192.168.1.20
Press the tab, the subnet must fill automatically, otherwise, enter the "Subnet IPv4" value you noted in the above step. Examp, e: 255.255.255.0
The bridge of dafult, enter the value of the above procedure. Example: 192.168.1.254

Now switch to the next 2 boxes, DNS servers. You can have only 1 entry in DNS server of the DNS entry you noted from above.
Enter the DNS servers that you noted above.

If there is "Connection specific DNS" writing or entries, follow these steps (otherwise, skip the sections "Connection DNS"):
    Select the option "Advanced".
The "Additional TCP/IP parameters" window should open
    Select the "DNS" tab

If it has more than 1 input "Connection specific DNS", follow these steps:
Select it "add DNS suffixes (in order):
    Select "Add..." »
In the "suffix domain', enter the first connection specific DNS entry.
    Select the option 'Add '.
Add all the specific DNS suffixes that you noted. You can enter one at a time.
When the radio button finished choose "OK".

If you have only 1 entry in "Connection specific DNS":
Entitled "DNS suffix for this connection", enter the entry you noted above for the "specific" connection DNS
When the radio button finished choose "OK".

Check the "validate their output parameters.

Select the radio button 'OK '.

    Select the radio button "close".

You should see the "Windows Network Diagnostics' open and check for any problems. I hope that everything is fine and he says 'Troubleshooting couldn't identify the problem' and choose 'Close the Troubleshooter'.
Close additional boxes or pop-ups that are open and check and make the connection sure allis. If not, go back and check all the steps. the most common are the IP addresses and gateways.

Good luck. After back if it solves the problem.

  • iPhone will not stay connected to the internet?

    * Posted on MacRumors forums but no answers *.

So basically since a few days my phone sometimes don't remain not connected to the internet network of BT-Hub3. I connect to it and then sometimes, it will stay connected for a minute for a few seconds and then disconnect. When I go to the wifi thing it seems available to connect to. After a couple of times that to happen, it will say wrong password (this is the password) and disconnect me and then I have to type the password. Repeat to infinity. It's honestly so frustrating.

Sometimes it will stay and be fine but his is happened twice in the last few days and never happened before with any phone I've had.

I try my phone with my BT-Hub4 internet network and it will stay connected. The only problem with this is that the internet is further (bottom), so has a low connection that does not charge anything unless I lean on my bed.

Initially, I assumed my internet pick, but I'm typing this I am connected to the network BT-Hub3 without disconnect him, even once.

I had the phone for a year and 2 months (previous owner had since October/November/December in the year of release) and recently got a replacement of the unofficial battery if this of any help. I also still have my phone on the low power mode. The phone always properly connect to the BT-Hub3 network even with unofficial battery and low power however mode.

I had several other problems with the phone (camera, apps download not heat no reason apparent, random battery drains despite the new battery in just 3 months and has the same problem with the battery, slow Touch ID that apparently is not normal), which most recently happened.

I had all the settings to reset a week or two ago but surely if who messed with my settings internet I would have had the internet issue earlier? Not sure if I should try to reset the network settings. I hate this and only do if I need to.

One last note, I have the latest version of iOS so ignore saying his 9.3.2 on

    Hi pinkdolphins0400,

Thanks for posting in the communities of Support from Apple! I understand that you are having problems with your iPhone does not stay connected to your internet connection at home. I use my home Wi - Fi network to stay connected, so I use all the cell data, if I can understand wanting to make sure that you are able to stay in touch. I am pleased to provide you with a few suggestions for you.

The first thing I recommend you do is follow the steps described in the following article. It seems that you have already experienced some of these steps, but I want to be sure that you have covered everything.

If your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch connects to a Wi - Fi network

Since you mentioned that your iPhone will stay connected to your network to another, you can take a look at the network settings for the one that you are having problems staying connected to. Article below provides information about network configurations suggested for Apple devices. You can also check with the manufacturer for your BT 3 - Hub see if there are updates that must be performed. This can cause problems with disconnects.

Recommended settings for the WiFi routers and access points

For other problems you mentioned (apps do not download, camera, battery draining, contact ID, etc.) reset settings was a big step in troubleshooting to try. If these things are always happening, I recommend making a backup of your iPhone and then restore it via iTunes. The backup will ensure that your data is saved. When you perform the restore via iTunes, you'll want to set up as a new device (temporarily), and then test it. Once you test, you can try to restore your backup. You can find all of the information below, you will need.

The backup of your iPhone, iPad and iPod touch

Use iTunes on your Mac or PC to restore your iPhone, iPad or iPod to factory settings

Restore your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch from a backup

  • TC installed, but no Internet access

I installed a new airport Time Capsule, a network and a network of comments. Also used the option to 5 GHz.

The feedback network is the only thing that works now, the other 2 networks do not give access to the Internet. Through the airport-configuration of the TC is not visible more. Rebooting did not help. Any suggestions?

The ' main ' and "network comments" features on the time Capsule airport will not work correctly unless you have a simple, base of the modem only... not a modem/router or gateway type of device which is often provided by most Internet Service providers.

Thus, the first step in troubleshooting here would be to know what kind of modem you have. To do this, we need for you to post back the number of brand and model of the device that you call your "modem".

  • Now internet AND connected printer.

I switched to using a modem from Comcast and my router wireless belkin for a new Netgear modem/router combo.
