Unregister Windows Installer and then reregister Windows Installer. To do this, follow these steps:

1. in the menu 'Start', click on ' execute:.»

2. in the "Open" box, type "msiexec /unreg", and then press ENTER.

3. in the menu 'Start', click 'run '.

4. in the "Open" box, type "msiexec/regserver", and then press ENTER.

There should be a space between the msiexec /unreg

Click Start Orb, in the box, type search: Regedit.

Highlight: HKEY_lOCAL_MACHINE/SYSTEM/CurrentControlSet/services/msiserver

Verify that the SYSTEM account has full control. If it does not, add the SYSTEM account with full control.

    Dear Toshiba

I need some advice and help on some problems with my laptop Toshiba Satellite L550D windows 7 (updated with windows 7 I have purchesed on your part).

I searched on several Forums (forum of toshiba responses, Microsoft MSDN Web site), but I still have a few problems, and I do not hesitate to ask for help in this way.

Question 1: My laptop does not recognize some drivers, and it happens as follows: I check in the Device Manager, device system, ATI i/o communications processor smbus controller, shows message: "no drivers are installed for this device. When I chek 'pilot' message: ' no file necessary drivers or embarked for this device.

When I tried to update driver, there is automatically a message that this driver is up to date and in 'Browse my computer for driver software' we goes to the location of the driver file, and then select the driver to install, the installation of the driver, then "windows has successfully updated the driver software", has finished installing the driver for the software (see above the IO... ATI).

After that, I downloaded all the drivers available from the Toshiba site yesterday for my OS and my product and the situation is the same, it shows NO file necessary drivers or have been loaded for this device.

The same situation is with other equipment, as follows: timer event 2) precision, 3) numeric data processor, controller 4) programmable interrput, 5) speakers, 1 memory access controller) direct, clock system 6).

Question 2: There is also another problem, that some downloaded drivers can be installed, as follows:

    (a) software modem of toshiba 2.2.97 (SM 2297ALDO4), message: you want to allow this program to make changes... ? I click 'Yes', but nothing happens.

    (b) parts of modem select Driver utility, it appears the message "cannot find the support device.

    (c) Mobility Center tiles pilot and driver DVD player, touch pad driver synaptics, for only three drivers there is no Install Shield Wizard on the screen, and installation does not start.

    (4) Toshiba vallue added package 1.2.25, message shows, 'Try to prepare InstallShield wizard', then 'another version of this product is already installed, installation of this version cannot continue. To configure or remove the existing version of this product, use Add/Remove programs from the control panel. {FEDD27A0-B306-45EF-BF58-B527406B42C8}.

I tried to uninstall Toshiba value added package, but it shows that Error 1612 the installation source for this product is not available. Verify that the source exists and that you can access.

I also noticed that the existing version on my laptop is 1.2.28 (of the 06.01.2010) and this downloaded version (that cannot be installed) is 1.1.1.4.

Question No. 3: above all that, every time I have start or restart Windows 7, it displays the message 'windows install installation preparation', short-term, then disappears, (I collapsed, then activated and restarted Windows install) and the error is not resolved.

    How to remedy?

    Thank you

I have after reading your long post m really to wonder: what do you do?
DERA Jelena I installed Win7 Toshiba upgrades and clean install Win7 on more than 10 different Toshiba notebooks and didn t have a problem except the feature FN keys on an old Satellite A200.

Anyway, when you upgrade pre-installed Vista notebook with original Toshiba upgrade kit you need to just follow the instructions you have with her. Instead of the first composite (drivers) drive and it will be your system and you inform that drivers must be removed from the system before the start of the Win7 update. When the drivers and some tools from Toshiba is deleted, you must use second upgrade for Win7 upgrade disk.
After doing this put the first disk again and check for the installation of compatible drivers.

That is so easy to do and I don't really understand what is happening with your laptop. After reading your ad I think you've done the installation of own OS and not an upgrade. What did you do exactly? I mean after upgrade cannot be so conflicts of hardware in Device Manager.

  • 1206tx envy 6: Windows install hard drive problem

I currently install windows 8.1 and in my cell there are two ssd 30 GB drive hard one and only one 500 sata.
I can't install on sata as it says it's style gpt and I tried to delete and now it is not allocated and is not awarded. On the ssd, it was in error, and I read a forum saying that removing the drive sata hard and get on ssd. I did and I did but after connecting the hard drive it is said that there are no windows installed.

    Hi there @Abdull,

Thank you for visiting the Forums HP's Support and welcome! It is an excellent site to find answers and ask questions. I watched the Style GPT error and the error No Windows installed.

The laptop you have comes with SATA 500, but you also have a 30 GB SSD. Does do that? The SSD is external, or put in the machine yourself?

I would say performing a HP System Recovery to reinstall the operating system, assuming that the partition is still intact. If this is not present, you did a set of recovery media?

Please follow these troubleshooting steps, re-post and let me know how everything went.

    Thank you!

    Have a great day!

  • Windows Vista Service Pack 2 causes the message "Windows install will not be accessible".

I am running Windows Vista with all the updates installed but Service Pack 2. I uninstalled Service Pack 2 because it was causing problems with the windows installation service. I was unable to install microsoft office update because the windows installer could not be accessed, and Adobe Acrobat Reader could not be repaired or updated for the same reason.

With installed Service Pack 2, I traveled all troubleshooting for the windows service install. I have a click with the right button on my computer, manage, service and open the properties of windows install. I have activated the service, but still couldn't install the updates Microsoft office or Adobe Acrobat Reader update/repair. I also tried to configure windows install automatic rather than manual when the computer starts.

I had the problem "Windows install is not be available" for nearly a year. After trying to do a repair Vista boot without result, I uninstalled all updates. The problem disappeared. I decided to install the updates one by one. After you have installed Service Pack 2, the problem with windows install returned. The Service Pack installs completely and then open my computer properties indicates that Vista runs with Service Pack 2 installed.

Uninstall Service Pack 2 and blocking automatic updates will not install it was my only solution to the issue of "Windows install is not be accessible". I fear that it may cause a security flaw in my computer, however.

If someone has encountered this problem, and if so, is there a solution to install Service Pack 2 for my windows service install still works correctly?

Applications, (Norton and McAfee) are known to not uninstall (or upgraded) themselves. Composition of such problems, Geek Squad is also infamous for having failed to download/run the Norton removal tool before installing another AV app or security suite! The 'leftovers' Norton may have caused your post-SP2 installation problem.

    1. download the Norton Removal Tool, save it to your desktop: ftp://ftp.symantec.com/public/english_us_canada/removal_tools/Norton_Removal_Tool.exe

    2. close all open applications (that is, anything with an icon on the taskbar).

    3. click right on the file saved in #1 above, and then select run as administrator to run the utility. DO TAP not your keyboard until the race ends, then restart.

    4. open Internet Explorer (only) to http://support.microsoft.com/kb/971058 & run it in DEFAULT and modes difficulty then AGGRESSIVE. [1]

    5. restart & test (i.e. display SP2 & install it again). [2]

TIP: Temporarily disable Sunbelt Vipre Antivirus before installing SP2. If you still encounter problems after installing SP2 again, open a free support by my previous response incident.

[1] full Disclosure: the difficulty operating in AGGRESSIVE mode will remove your update history but not the list of installed updates.

  • Dual Boot with windows XP Pro with 2 HARD drive, error on secondary windows install: "Windows did not start because of a configuration of the disk of the computer problem. Could not read the selected boot disk. Check boot path and disk hardware... »

Hi, I recently bought a new Hitachi 1 TB internal hard drive. I wanted to do a clean install on the new drive (d), be able to dual boot my computer and leave my old 300 GB disk (C :) as the primary windows installation. After physically installing the new HARD drive, I noticed that "new hardware found" and the the brand name flashed in the bottom right corner. I thought I'd see the new hard drive in my computer, but I did not. I initialized the new HARD drive with the computer management window (right click on my computer - manage) and I also formatted in NTFS (I had to change my printer hard drive letter to assign the new HARD drive with the letter D, but I've made other changes after this step). Now, I could see and use in my main windows on the C: installation. I then installed a windows new copy XP pro with the installation CD I got for my C: but on the D: (Note: I have a Dell computer (and the Dell reinstallation CD) and my current version of windows has SP3 while the installation CD is only SP2) (I also reformatted my HARD drive during the installation of windows to NTFS)

Now when I try to start on installing the new on my D: I get "Windows did not start because of a configuration of the disk of the computer problem. Could not read the selected boot disk. Check startup disk and hardware access path. "and another line saying to refer to manuals HARD drive and windows.

My Boot.ini file at this time was:

    [boot loader]
    Timeout = 5
    default = multi (0) disk (0) rdisk (0) partition (2) \WINDOWS
    [operating systems]
    "multi (0) disk (0) rdisk (0) partition (2) \WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional "/ noexecute = optin/fastdetect
    "signature (ac516a5c) disk (0) rdisk (0) partition (1) \WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional own "/ noexecute = optin/fastdetect

I looked towards the top of this help page, but for now I'm unlucky:

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/314477

(The next steps I took by throwing from the Windows CD and go into the repair console)

I tried to use the bootcfg /rebuild but the line to boot.ini for my secondary HARD drive still does not work.

    He gave me something like:

    [boot loader]
    Timeout = 5
    default = multi (0) disk (0) rdisk (0) partition (2) \WINDOWS
    [operating systems]
    "multi (0) disk (0) rdisk (0) partition (2) \WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional "/ noexecute = optin/fastdetect
    "signature (ac516a5c) disk (0) rdisk (1) partition (1) \WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional own "/ noexecute = optin/fastdetect

I also tried to change the signature() to multi (0), but it did not work. (or try almost all possible permutations of disk() and rdisk() partition() 0 to 2).

I also tried to use expand F(dvd-drive):\i386\ntkrnlmp(I_have_a_duo-core).ex_ D:\windows\system32\ntoskrnl.exe and a few other combinations, but I when I login as D:\windows simply, it fails to extend with a message like "could not develop" or C:\windows I get "restricted access".

I have not yet tried CHKDSK/r, but since I did a clean install on a newly formatted drive... I don't think it would work.

I've also marked the partition on the D: as active (in computer management), but it did not help me.

I've done a first installation of windows repair, strangely, I couldn't fix this one... Still does not work...

My default windows installation yet works very well & I see that windows has been installed on the D: but I'm ideas from how to operate the dual-boot, can someone throw me a BONE on what to do?

Maybe try to do something with the Boot Manager (whatever it is?) Create a new partition and use it as a boot manager? I don't really want to do this, because if I made a mistake I will be unable to use my computer and dual boot should work without going through all this trouble... But I found this page: http://technet.microsoft.com/fr-fr/library/ee829686%28WS.10%29.aspx

Could a clean install two HDD help? I hope I won't have to do...

    Someone has an idea?

PS: I'm not such an advanced user so I need a solution step by step, thanks!

Edit: I also noted that I can't see my new HARD drive in my BIOS... weird... SATA-0 is my old drive HARD 1 and 2 are my dvd 3-5 readers are 'off' and it doesn't seem to be anything that it is plugged in. I also have 4 bays for internal HARD disks. Now, 2 are busy.

Edit2: I looked inside my case and enabled the good Sata in the Bios after a reboot it detected the drive correctly. Dual boot doesn't always work well... The fact that it was disable in the BIOS while I was installing the new HARD drive could change anything? Hmm...

In case I wasn't clear enough: I had a windows XP Pro installed on my C:, bought a new hard drive and installed the same copy of windows on it (d). I think that should allow me to double boot between the two installs different. Even if for some reason I can't boot from one on my D:. Andrew, I do not understand why you so far physically disconnect the other drive, the point of the whole operation is to build a boot.ini file so that the BIOS knows that it y facilities 2 windows and you allow to choose (and not have conflicting problems between the 2 systems), someone correct me if I'm wrong? "Expand" the part of my first post made reference to one of the solutions provided by Microsoft in the first link that I have included in my previous post (but I can't seem to work).

In addition, it is the procedure that I followed: http://www.ehow.com/how_5950826_boot-two-different-hard-drives.html

(except I've had the first installation already done).

Andrew "also, once a new hd is plugged on the pc & running, most of the BIOS will place (them) as 1st priority hd, set the BIOS to do this", you mean that by installing separately from windows on each unit when the other is not plugged in, I could choose what disk to start from defining their priority in the BIOS once they are all plugged back? It's too tedious (as I intend to move frequently between the 2 installs) and requires a computer to other users of the lack of computer knowledge. Unfortunately, it is not a viable option.

EDIT: I DID IT! Hmmm... Well, I double checked in the recovery console, the path of the new HARD drive with the arc command Scan. Tried to start again with the MULTI (0) in my boot.ini and it worked... I also had my windows install CD in. Maybe that is why I could not start, windows needs the CD to complete the installation? Weird, I don't know what I did to the difficulty it... but hey, it works! Thanks for your ideas guys!

    Gaara_2k6,
Welcome to the responses of the Forums.  The short answer to your questions are Yes and no and no.

Depends on how you format the drive, it will delete everything on the drive.  Now, it may still be recoverable with a software specialist or moving to a data recovery company.

If you formatted your hard drive you would not be able to start to do anything, because there would be nothing on the startup disk.  With the Windows XP CD or with the recovery media provided by the manufacturer of the PC is the only way to reinstall Windows.
