• Send alerts of vCops to SCOM

  Hi all

  In our shop, the monitoring platform is SCOM. The virtualization team want to use vCops to drill more deep and stop configuration thousand threshold. Our Director is ok with that, but to send our alerts to SCOM, so the operations team may be alerted if something happens in the virtual environment. I heard that there is a way to create something with the orchestrator and send alerts from vCops to SCOM. Anyone know where to find documentation on how to do it? Is there any other way to do this?

  vC Ops can easily be configured to send traps to SCOM SNMP.  This is done in the Admin UI (go to https:///Admin and log in as an administrator).  There is a tab for the SNMP and SMTP parameters.

• VCenter in VCOPS node is 0 - red all the time.

  There can be several reasons for this - better go ahead and cancel the failure in vcops alert, if you are sure that the underlying question is resolved.

  That should restore health in vcops back to the 'normal '.

  You can also check clean vCenter health (for example calculated by itself) - this is shown in vSphere Client - in the main screen, open icon 'health' and see what is there. IT should be green. If this is not the case, he will tell you he exactly, which is always false.

  When I add ESX host on the cluster, I think that the TIME for VCOPS is missing (in other words, I get only 2 VM - UI VM & VM analytics.  I wonder if she should be OK or not?

  TonyJK - the 2VMs will probably work OK until you stop network is reset, or another such event occurs.

  The VM "UI" needs to know the IP address of the "Analytical" VM and it get to it through metadata VAPP (which, in your case, are destroyed).
