StorCenter px6 - 300 stuck d

This week I lost one of my drives HARD 6 in my StorCenter px6 - 300 d. He just died because a Seagate Barracuda firmware bug.

First... I have the warranty until 10/2015, but I'm not able to solve this problem with Lenovo support to the Brazil. (BIG PROBLEM)

Second... To be sure that my data is more safe, I just brought a new HDD (same model as the one lost) and added to my StorCenter px6 - 300 d. I received a message that the new HARD drive should be 'formatted' to rebuild the RAID. It has RAID 6 with total 6 x 2 TB HARD drive. However, it is for 2 days of work (flashing bright white) and display will show 0% done. I am not able to access web interface NAS, or anything like that.

What should I do? How to solve this problem? Thanx.

    There is a newer version of the firmware. I recommend updating to the latest version to see if the problem persists.

    Since the weekend, our px6 - 300 d seem to have a problem because I can not access it via the web console and Windows... So, I have to restart with the power button. But now, when it starts, it remains at 95% for hours and I can't access...

    They were not all the errors on the discs.

    Try to start the device without the attached network cable. When it reaches 75% then re - attach the network cable.

    If this does not work you can try operating the restraint system and reseating the HDDs.

    Is - this device still in warranty?

    My px6 - 300 d seems to be churning, the hard drive light is darn near all of the time, I know that it is not locked on because only it twinkle from time to time, but not often, and I can feel the vibrating drives furiously. Is there a software or back door to give the visibility regarding if it is reconstruction or check if I can see what is happening?

  • PX6 - 300 d - double Raid 1 is not possible?

    Hi guys, I hope I'm missing something, so I'm tender hand to support community. I've had a px6 for awhile now. I love. Works very well with VMWare hypervisors. I've been running a RAID 1 and a RAID 5 for over a year without any problems.

    Now, my needs have changed. I run 2 raid-1 matrices. I deleted my raid-5 array and don't see Ano option in the list to create another Raid-1. Why is this? I see raid-10, but not what I need. Just another Raid-1.

    In my case, I need to divide the disk IO system in another array of disks in raid1. Simply becoming the current Raid1 is not enough, because there a lot of requests for e/s which should not weigh down the second raid-1 array. I need raid1 because of the performance and the protection it offers.

    Can someone comment on the creation of another array of Raid-1? I hope that I don't need to buy another NAS compete for this task.

    Figured it out. There is a bug in the GUI. Once you have 1 raid-1 array configured, there is no option to create an another raid-1 array. BUT, if you select a new table and set of raid-10, it can reset to raid-1 on the creation. I have now 2 tables separated from Raid1 created by doing it this way. They are NOT wiped off of mirrors raid-10.

    Thank you for your support. The problem has been resolved by reinstalling the software. It seems that the new version of the software is out - strange here was that my request for resource monitor appeared also to update in the update software tab.

  • How to determine who has access to the training

    I have an iomega StorCenter ix4 - 300 d set up as a network drive with several users who have permission to access. From time to time some of the scripts are unable to access one of the drives inside. For me, it seems that when that happens someone in my network uses extensively this player (the blue led continues to blink). Is there a way to determine who is using the drive or what resources are being accessed?

    The event log indicates if users log in to the device and make changes. There is not a way to show what is being accessed.

    I have NAS PX6 - 300 d with RAID 6, it records images from surveillance cameras this week one of the drives has failed and the cameras stopped working with RAID 6 should not continue to burn? the drive has been changed and now I can't access the shared folder

    Finally, I decided to start my own thread about this.

    I installed POS for the first time yesterday at 13:00. The unit is sitting on a host in a vCenter which is in another network.

    Host has 4 network cards, one for the corporate network, one for a network isolated from the plant, vMotion and one other network isolated.

    Connected via NFS on a NAS that is in the same switch on 1GbE links.

    Has taken a backup of a virtual machine (which is sitting on another ESX cluster: same vCenter) yesterday during the night and all went well. Took 45 minutes to save it to the top of the first.

    But since the first minute of the installation of POS, I am interested in my network monitoring system and it shows me shards of data every 5-10 minutes sending input/output between the nas and esx... Actually vdp device sending and receiving in nas.

    It's almost to every time about 257 155 kbit/s every 5-10 minutes in the graph. Nothing else is followed (like vmware sensors or wmi from any kind. just snmp traffic from the port of the switch and a ping to the esx host)

    No other ESX shows this kind of traffic. If I look at the graph of sin, same thing, which brings me to the direction in which the matter is between the two.

    I did close to the bottom of the application, so I can really see if there is a problem with her or directly nas device-related...

    One thing I also noticed is the traffic fate vmnic0 for backup last night at 22:00 which is fine but immediately fell after 45 minutes of backup when finished. The strange thing is that the excessive traffic out of vmnic2 which is connected to the private network and has nothing to do with the POS. But as soon as I close the virtual machine appliance VDP graphic down and no problem at all.

    The last question is; Hell where traffic comes from and why it goes on the vmnic2 so that the virtual machine has nothing to do in this group of port!

    In fact, I think I'll go hang the nas in the same switch as the vmnic0, that I think about it... I guess that the traffic comes from vmnic0, but nas is hung in the same network as vmnic2 so it must jump over chips inside the esx host. But I wonder why he keeps returning 200 Mbps of data every 5-10 minutes for a period of 2 minutes, but maybe someone could enlighten us on that.

    This is the reason why I've seen traffic on both interfaces. Now, NAS is attached to the same switch on the network of the company as the ESX host that the device is sitting on.

    Virtual POS machine has 4 data warehouses:

    100 GB OS is on the SAN

    3 x 1 TB of data on the nas via nfs

    Host ESXi 5.5.0 build 2456374

    vCenter 5.5.0 build 2442329

    NAS is a Lenovo Iomega StorCenter ix4 - 300 d

    (I have not activated all along the way. jumbo frames no change)

    What is using a lot of bandwidth of the device? Is this normal? It is very moving stuff and I can't understand what it is!

    These fragments come from the backup last night? No was not even 80 GB total backup... should not be so long? Says complete backup and dedup 32 of 80 GB...

    I think I found something here: the VDP CPU usage

    It seems that the reading device checks on the destination of the backup every 5 minutes (300 seconds) and it is a normal behaviour according to VMware.

    Thing is that 1.5 GB of data (in my case) every 5 minutes is not acceptable because it can modify the use of bandwidth.

    I connected the console to the VDP and applied to the order, but with the interval of 0.

    I found another post here: VDP now uses constant bandwidth even during the prohibition period

    They say that the available maximum interval is 3600 seconds which is an hour. It's better than 5 minutes, but it seems that the 0 parameter is accepted by the device and no error is reported.

    I will update more than a hour to see if it works because at first, I applied the 3600 and my graph shows changes applied.

    It is 08:20 here, so I'll be back after 09:30 to make sure that the last hour.

    You can try to change the parameter indicating the feeder flat to see if you can change the DPI settings.

  • HP Jetdirect 300 x: updated HP Jetdirect 300 x (J3263A) without Web Jetadmin or HP Download Manager

    If you have a HP Jetdirect 300 x (J3263A exactly) with an older version of firmware, such that H.08.20, you may have noticed it is almost impossible to update. The HP Download Manager is supposed to be used to update the product to the latest revision of the firmware, but it does not work and gives an error. Similarly, the HP Webjetadmin software does the same. The two pieces of software uses the SNMP protocol. Newer versions of the firmware are supposed to be updated via FTP or HTTP, but if you're stuck with an older version such as H.08.20, you're out of luck on these methods. So how is one with an older firmware supposed to upgrade to the latest revision?

    After days of experimentation and dig through the documentation and forums, I found a solution! TFTP. This process is not documented anywhere to my knowledge (and believe me I looked!) so please read carefully.

    The first step is to set up a TFTP server. You can try setting up on Windows or Mac OS X. For the record, however, I tried to use the built-in Mac OS x and had no luck TFTP server. Your best bet is to use a Linux virtual machine or a live cd. I used Debian and tftp-hpa. I have no luck with tftpd.

    1. Machine Debian Boot
    2. Make sure you have an IP address that is accessible to the Jetdirect. To configure the IP address, follow the instructions here: https://wiki.debian.org/NetworkConfiguration#Setting_up_an_Ethernet_Interface. If you are already connected to a DHCP server, you should not do anything.
    3. Install tftp-hpa:
      $ apt - get install tftp-hpa
    4. Copy the firmware file to the tftp directory, in my case "300X_H0867.dld".
      $ cp 300X_H0867.dld/srv/tftp /.
    5. Give everyone read on the file permissions
      $ chmod a + x /srv/tftp/300X_H0867.dld
    6. Eventually, try to download the file from another computer on the network to check if it works (assuming that 192.168.1.1 the server IP).
      TFTP $192.168.1.1
      TFTP > get 300X_H0867.dld
      If all goes well and as the file downloads, you should be good to go!
    7. Telnet in the Jetdirect 300 X. If necessary, restore default values to enable telnet server and set an IP as shown here: http://h20564.www2.hp.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?docId=emr_na-bpj02738
    8. Once in a telnet session, run the following commands (assuming that the tftp server address is 192.168.1.1):
      TFTP-server: 192.168.1.1
      updated - file: 300X_H0867.dld
      upgrade
    9. Immediately after that hit upgrade and pressing on enter, you will get a message saying that the Jetdirect will begin the update and your telnet session will be closed.
    10. In a minute or two, then try to telnet in the Jetdirect. If all goes well, type ' / ' and press ENTER, and you should see that the revision of the firmware is set to the new version!
