Strong optical drive on Portege

Is it possible to configure the * drive * on the laptop Portege issue * less * noise when you use it? Is the noise with the _speed_ in which he turns the CD / DVD?

How set us the speed (12 x, 8 x, 4 x) to mitigate the noise?

I agree with Robin. Toshiba has designed this little tool to reduce the ODD speed and while listening music CDs, it will be almost silent.

  • Portege R500 - Bad optical drive delays the start - how to fix?

The Portege R500 has recently begun does not start. Initially there not some time later, frequently. By chance, I discovered that if I left alone for a minute or two, he will continue to start. That and the noise coming from the optical driver, made me suspect the problem was not with the HARD drive, as I feared at first, but with the optical driver.

I read in the thread below that other people had this problem. MrBear mentions * I pulled it out again and pushed on the Ribbon connecting the CD-ROM to make sure they were safe. Turned on again and he pulled up without problem! *

    Link: [http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=43300&tstart=0]

Could someone clarify in what ribbons must be treated? Only those who are visible by opening the drive? Or it is necessary to open the notebook?

Furthermore, if I booted into Windows, it stopped again, for a minute or two, while Windows is loading. With Ubuntu, there is no such problem. Perhaps Windows tries to communicate with the optical driver for some reason any.

    Tnaks for any help!

    Hello!

Is your laptop still under warranty? If so I put t understand why you try to solve the problem by yourself. Go to the nearest EPA and ask a technician for help. These guys are very useful and they have the most experience on laptop repairs.

On the Toshiba site, you can search the nearest ASP:
http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com-online decision-making supported downloads & => find an authorized service provider

And the problem with Windows, it is difficult to tell why Windows stops for a minute. Maybe it s a software problem so disable all programs that you start n t need in msconfig.

Comes to realize optical drive of my all new Portege R-600 died.

  • How to recover the Portege M200 without optical drive or a floppy drive

    Hi guys,.

Is it possible to perform a recovery of my M200 without using an opitcal drive or a floppy disk?

All the solutions I have so far is based on having an optical drive of a kind or a floppy disk.
The only solution seems to be doing through a network boot disk, but all the info regarding this option is only available for full XP not disc not the recovery disc, so I can't get that of not work either!

Can someone tell me if there is a way to do a cover of the SD card without needing an optical drive or a floppy disk?

    Thank you

As much I know SD card will not help at all. If you have the original recovery CD you the optical disk drive. If I remember well the docking station for this Portege should have one.

Sorry, but I see no alternative here.

  • Portege M750 - 2nd HARD drive in the Bay select instead of optical drive carrier

I just bought I used Portege M750 because my M700 was broken. Unfortunately, the berries to choose between the two models are not compatible. Although the availability of a 2nd drive hard trolley is mentioned in the user manual, I couldn't find the part of the disk for the M750 caddy. I tried a standard SATA-SATA HARD drive caddy, but I get a message "select Bay error" at the start, although the caddy runs under windows, as long as you do not hibernate.

Does anyone know the part no of the real 2nd hard drive for Portege M750 caddy / M780? Or is there another 2nd carriage of hard drive that works with the M750 without restriction?

    Hello

I guess that you will need a hard drive caddy part number: P000452980
Then you could place this in the Toshiba Ultra Slim PA3408U-2CTE and PA3408U-1ETC HARD disk adapter

But you can also contact the Toshiba ASP in your country to get a confirmation...

  • Optical drive from excessive vibration form - M60

My new M60-164, which is otherwise quite impressive, suffers from what I would consider excessive vibrations induced by the optical drive to its speed top two (?). Film DVD and audio CD-speed speeds are very good, but high transfer rates there are enough strong vibrations.

Is not specific to a particular disc and it does not seem to subside, but it worries me regarding the longevity and accuracy of data transfer.

    Should I really worry... ?

    Hi Dave,.

Vibration at high speed is normally an indication that the CD or the DVD itself is not symmetrical, or that there is an imbalance in the weight on a part of the disk. This can be caused by a poorly equipped CD, which has been applied outside the Center label.

However, if you encounter this vibration on many/all CDs and DVDs then it is probably a defect in the drive itself (probably in the disc of locking mechanism in which case the only option is to take the phone to a repairer approved for her to check.

  • Internal optical drive does not not on the retina no MacBook Pro mid 2012

So, I know there are a lot of discussions on this subject, but I can't find one for my problem. It is here,

I have a MacBook Pro 13 inch mid-2012 not the retina. It has the Max 8 GB of RAM and i7 processor. The hard drive is 750 GB. The computer has also an internal optical drive. I can insert and eject the CD and DVD, but when I put in the player made a strong and unusual whirring or buzzing noise, not the normal silence and it becomes stronger and more quickly than the slower and quieter that the DVD or the CD will eject except it doesn't. This can continue indefinitely unless I have press and hold the eject button on the keyboard. The DVD is not scratched when I go out, and the player has worked only once on the last two times I tried to use it. Do I need to take it to the Apple Store to get something fixed or replaced or what? I don't want to do the fix at home so the fix can be done only in this way that I kid you not the computer. What is the best thing to do, and all the world knows about this problem?

  • Need help to install Windows 8.1 on the partition, bootcamp on Macbook Pro 15 "mid-2010 w / no optical drive"

I tried for almost a week in all possible ways to get windows installed on a boot camp partition on my main SSD 1 TB drive as a partition, or on my HARD drive, which is installed in place of the optical drive.  So far, everything I tried to give me some sort of error at some point in the process.  It seems that many of them are case by case, so I thought that I invite you all and see if you can help!

I use a Macbook Pro 15 "mid-2010 that I improved with a 1 TB SSD drive as the startup disk.  My optical drive was not functional, so I moved my old 500 GB HARD drive to the location of the optical Bay.  I am also under the latest version of El Capitan (10.11.6)
    Here are my system specs:

    Presentation of the material:

    Model name: MacBook Pro

    Model identifier: MacBookPro6, 2

    Processor name: Intel Core i7

    Processor speed: 2.8 GHz

    Number of processors: 1

    Total number of cores: 2

(By heart) L2 Cache: 256 KB

    L3 Cache: 4 MB

    Memory: 8 GB

Processor speed of interconnection: 4.8 GT/s

    Boot ROM version: MBP61.0057.B11

Version of the SCM (System): 1.58f17

What I tried (from what I remember):

I tried to change the Bootcamp info.plist file for my version of the macbook pro to use a USB stick for the installer.  It seems to have installed correctly but once I partition the disk and restart the computer, it gets stuck on a white screen with the Apple logo and I am forced to make a hard stop and then hold down option to boot into OS X, recovery, or the EFI Boot.

If I go through the windows installation to start the EFI system, I get an error of:
"Windows cannot be installed to this disk.  The selected disk is a MBR partition table.  On EFI systems, Windows cannot be installed on GPT disks. »

I also tried to create a partition by using disk utility, and that too made me an error in the installation of windows.

So far, the only way that I'm away from windows to run at all has been using the free trial of VMware Fusion 8... but I intend to use windows for more intensive tasks like audio pro, and merger simply does not offer the performance necessary to run these programs.  I'm hoping to install windows 8.1 on my internal SSD or HARD drive, regardless of the work - as long as OS X and files associated with it are left alone.

If someone could help me please understand this point, I would really appreciate it!

    Thank you

If your computer has an optical drive, you must use the optical drive to install Windows using Boot Camp Assistant.

  • I can't put a disc into my optical drive.

    Hello

I have a Macbook 2010 Pro and over the past 6 years, I have rarely used the optical drive. Recently, I tried to put in a disk but it wouldn't even go.  I have no idea why this would be.

    Any help or advice appreciated!

    Concerning

You have a hardware problem.  Are you sure that there is nothing inside the DVD player?  If you are energetic, open the MBP, remove the disc and open it.  If this is not the case, make an appointment at an Apple store genius bar for a FREE evaluation.  It is possible that the player has not.

    Ciao.

  • You can install Windows on a Mac without an optical drive

Hey, I have a Mac end 2011 a friend gave to me and he said it was broken. I realized that it was just the SATA port on the motherboard, so I pulled out the optical drive and I put an SSD in it. Now I want to install Windows but Mac says that I am not allowed to because I don't have an optical drive. I tried Abu tools and many other shippers of EFI boot, but none of them does not seem to work! Please help me fast! I am computer LITERATE, so no response even if it is complicated would be very useful. THX

Have you tried the Applications/Utilities/Boot Camp?

You can run Windows in a virtual machine, which saves having to restart to Boot Camp. This allows you to access boot Windows and Mac OS.

  • El Capitan grateful suddenly don't no optical drive

I have a MacBook Air running El Capitan, purchased 3/2016. I bought the optical drive when I bought the computer. I used the external drive to burn DVDs and CDs. Everything worked fine until I plugged the optical drive yesterday. I opened iTunes, plugged the disc inserted a cd and the window showing that I inserted the cd never popped up. The finder does not display the drive, even though I checked in preferences to show him. The only way I could safely remove the cd was going to disk utility where I could see the disc and the cd and eject it.

I checked to make sure that the drive still works by inserting a DVD or CD in the optical drive. The two will play correctly, but I still have to go back into the disk utility to eject because the drive does not appear anywhere else.

With iTunes running and the drive plugged with a blank CD inserted, the "playlist to burn to the disc" is grayed out, because the computer is not recognizing the drive.

What can I do to get the computer/El Capitan to recognize the drive again?

Reporting system shows the optical drive? Try the commands from the Terminal after the connection of an optical drive...

  • Question about installing an SSD in my optical drive

I'm looking for pulling on my optical drive and put in an SSD, because I was told it can do my slow Mac run very fast. My thought was that rather than spend on my existing hard drive, I would take the optical disc and install my SSD it (I've seen a lot of videos shows how to do this)

My original hard drive offers 500 GB and also have a Windows partition, so I'm a little afraid to play with it, too... Adding an SSD will give me a feature from the application of some of the work for the SSD (such a start and some slower applications) to work only with a specific hard drive? And if I did start Mac on the SSD, should I uninstall and reinstall OS X on this new SSD?

Sorry, I'm really new to all this. Any help is appreciated!

My first step would certainly be in lieu of the HD with an SSD. Then assess where you are and what you think of your 'new' machine.
