I just spent 3 hours manually rename a bunch of files.  I went to the bridge to finish with a batch renaming and it wiped out all of my manual work.  I am a person of attention to detail, but I found it incredibly easy to make mistakes in the bridge.  Many of my files are very long and the display is truncated, but I assumed that it is above all a user error.  I think I put it in right place, but the bridge is in disagreement with my method.
I don't see a cancellation.  CTRL-Z did not.  Don't see a revert.  Don't see anything useful for the non-doing.  I tried Ctrl-Z in Windows, also did not work.
All have suggestions?  I'm on CS6/Windows.
			 
When you use rename batch it is advisable to check 'preserve the current file name in XMP metadata. "

I can only give you with the path to a Mac but Windows should be something similar

OK - I blew on it. Some of my files have been imported to the LR4 with an incorrect filename... by my habit of naming.
I edited everything... (no change of name) and then in Brdige make a batch renaming. I suppose that the bridge does not rename the .xmp files and I need to change their brand new... right?

When you work in Bridge, in some cases, I can't delete files or rename files in batch. Is there a setting I'm missing that could cause this?
			 
That would likely reduced simply to generic or other operating system-level permissions problems, but without knowing anything on your computer, no one can advise you more specifically. Could also be another program / tool having a grip on your files. We cannot really know. For permissions problems, you could start by reading this:

How I - rename batch objects/paths (not just layers)?
 
			 
The question of a complete n00b:
I need to rename a large number of objects/selected tracks. It's because I want to use another script that only works when my objects have the default name '< Path > '. So, really, I just need to remove the names of existing objects.

Of course, I could remove it manually by double-clicking on the objects in the layers palette and names by replacing the name, but it's no fun.
I found some great scripts to rename the layers, but nothing for non-couche objects.
First of all, I am trying to remove the names of all THE objects in the document.  Once it works, I want to delete only the names of the selected objects.
Here's my very simple javascript work - (this):

my test file have is also really basic: a few rectangles, which some have been nominated in the layers palette.
When I run the present, I get:

name is a valid property of pageItem, now the script needs to know what pageItem you are referring to use,

Rename batch - delete characters
 
			 
I have a large number of NEF files with the name JCC0nnn.NEF. Want to make a name change to DJN0nnn.NEF.  Is it possible to replace selected characters (for example, the CCC to NAVE) or remove some characters (for example, remove the CCM) then add CEDRIC to his place? I have changed the prefix MAC to CEDRIC in the camera, but have several hundred files downloaded to change.

Hi, I put a folder in bridge to do a batch renaming and called the MILAN/SYRIA text and has to first number 00.
After frame 99 the name changed to a strange Adobe Bridge Batch rename Temp 10037
As you can see in the RAW Windows, the 99 and the next better.
Photoshop do not open a name like that, he can not blame him.

Why was my card the integer to the 0485 photos when a record I think takes as much as 9999, how you finish a folder if your card is full?

Problem location photos in LR5 after batch renaming

I imported and edited hundreds of photos. Then, I renamed batch several dozen photos using Bulk Rename utility. Naturally, LR showed an exclamation point icon in the upper right of each of the missing (renamed) pictures. After clicking about exclamation, I choose "Locate" and finds the picture manually. On the bottom, I checked the box "Search nearby of photos". LR located the picture missing but does not see the others pictures of renowned. I think that the 'find nearby photos' is only useful if you move pictures to a different folder, not when rename you them. All the solutions for my situation?

I had a text editor that has saved many small text without any extension files.
They are listed as 'file' without extension in my list of documents.
I got another text editor that records correctly my new files with the .txt extension.
I want to change large groups of text files that have no extension to the type .txt. I have hundreds of them in several files.
I can't associate a file with my new text editor type such that there is no extension to associate.

In Windows Explorer, select the 1 file in a folder - then pressing SHIFT while scrolling down
at the end of these files - when a group is highlighted right-click - Rename - enter *.txt
and everyone should have this extension added.

Does anyone know why in Bridge cs6 in the 'Tools' tab, my "Photoshop" option is missing?  That's how I always treated batch images.  In Bridge, choose the images to process, I in the 'Tools' tab to the 'Photoshop' option then 'Processor of Image' and process.  Now when I go into my 'Tools' tab there no options: options and Cache rename batch, 4 types of related metadata.  Can someone tell me why this happened and how to fix it?  Thank you!!!

This problem went on for two days.  I tried many suggestions but nothing worked immediately.  All of a sudden I turned on my computer last night and it's been fixed... inexplicably.  Don't know what worked, but something has.  Thank you for taking the time to offer advice.

Recently moved to a tapeless workflow after the use of DVCPRO HD tapes. Now I use XDCAM EX shooting on SXS cards. I use CS5.5 passing under Windows.
Now, I liked the logging and capture of my images of bands and maybe it's the "easy" drag / drop my images on my system that makes me uncomfortable, a problem of teeth may be with the passage. All my files are called "062_0162_01" then "062_0162_02" and so on. Now, I can rename my clips in my tray in the first, but in a years time when I have to reconvene this project, and the file names do not match what is in my sandbox that called the real files, this could create a problem? Is there a similar way to After Effects, where you can change the 'sex' rather than 'source' clip and then it is easier to find the photo you want without disrupting anything? (If there is no Adobe decides to do, I want some royalties!)
I understand about mutual FUNDS, there is a newspaper and the transfer option that you can selectively import the files you need, and I am also aware of the reason for this is because it does not support native editing. So I guess my main concern is to continue as I started or to get used to the fact that the clip of '062_0162_01' is what I would have normally named 'John Smith PTC001'.

Is there a keyboard shortcut in Bridge to rename a selected file? I don't want to open dialogue rename batch, but I just want to retype the name of the file in the content panel (the same than to click on the name of a selected file).

How can I change the default location on Windows Photo and Scanner Wizard for registration?
 
			 
I have a machine that would save photos from an SD card in a folder the same name as the group by the name of photos. That is to say: I want to save a group of images as "Puppyxx", where "xx" is a sequential number appended to the file in the wizard. In the past, the wizard would create a folder called "Puppy" and put all the photos with the same group name in the folder of the puppy. Now, it is dumping all the photos at the root of the "My pictures" folder I'll have to go and manually move the images. We had a problem week last with server space and had to change the wizard to download the pictures on the C:\ drive rather than on the document server. How do I go about changing the default behavior of the registration wizard so that all I have to do is provide a group name, and the wizard name files properly and place them in the appropriate folder?

In the wizard, you can specify a folder, rename batch of images, etc.  I do believe however, that the wizard will automatically make a new folder.  You should see "options" or "advanced options", when importing photos.  You can create your new folder and change the name of the worksheet.

PS CS5 - will not import the MP4 video to layers
 
			 
I recently installed Photoshop CS5 on my Mac OS X because CC tends to run slowly.
I use Photoshop primarily to make GIFs (Tumblr).
However, when I try to import video frames to layers, video MP4 are grayed out. AVI videos are not, but the screen is blank when I try to import those, and the layers are black. The only way to "solve" this question is if I change the extension on a MP4 file to AVI. so I can import video frames to layers. But I don't want to have to do this for all of the videos that I want to use, and there must be a better solution.
I have been through a lot of sons of people having the same problem, so a few quick things:
I have Quicktime installed and updated. This isn't the issue.
I have the extended version, not the issue or the other.
I went from 64 bit to 32 bit (because the import of video images on layers is apparently not possible at all on 64-bit), so this isn't the problem
Some people have said to change to "all file types", but as you can see in the screenshot as, I don't have this option
Need help please, there must be a way to solve this problem
			 
There are two ways, but you'll find maybe easier to use Bridge > tools > rename batch to change the extension to .avi
Perform tasks on the Tools menu, commands rename files and carpet auto HDR and panoramic images

Then you can work in mode Timeline or convert images to Animation using the menu drop-down timeline
Flatten the images in layers
Make frames from layers
