Support centOS FT

I checked several documents and resources, but could not find direct evidence that centOS is supported by FT.

"all distributions ESX-taken in charge" are clearly indicated in the manual, but it specifically covers centOS?

anyone under this OS with FT or have an experience to share?

Thank you.

Hello.

I checked several documents and resources, but could not find direct evidence that centOS is supported by FT.

Several versions of CentOS are listed in the compatibility guide available here.  If your specific version is in the list, then you should be confident that it will work.  KO 1008027 also expressly provides that "Linux (all distributions taken ESX supported)" is supported for FT.  I haven't used CentOS with FT, but between these two pieces of documentation I would not hesitate to use it.

Good luck!

  • vCloud Director 5.5 device - limits

    Hi all

Is there any vmware document that specifies the boundaries of the vCloud Director 5.5 device? I know it is trial / PoC and should not be used in a Production Env, but I am interested in a CEP more complex and has been reading here: the vCloud Director unit. VMware vSphere Blog - VMware Blogs limitations:

Now the vCloud Director device it has some limitations.  As it is only intended for vCloud Director assessments, the scale of the deployment is limited to:

    • A cell of vCloud Director
    • Two vCenter servers
    • 10 VDC organization
    • 100 virtual machines
    • Up to 11 GB of information stored in the database shipped

Being a former link, I'm sure that is more up-to-date and these limitations have increased, but would like to find something about it.

I know it supports CentOS, but unfortunately in this PoC I do not have a Windows Server (will also use the vCenter device) and any database.

Thanks in advance for any comments.

We produce is no longer the device.  One of the limitations would be so you don't have updates for it.  The limits are generally the same as what you posted.

CentOS support any really, since the device is produced as a black box.  SuSE or CentOS according to what version it is.  The embedded DB have size limits.

If you do a CEP more complex, I suggest to use the BIN on CentOS Installer and have at least 2 vCloud Director of cells in a load balanced configuration.  Several cells is something you just can't do with the device.

  • Satellite A300 and Centos Linux - EHCI: transfer of the BIOS didn't 01010001

    Hello

    I have a laptop Toshiba A300 - 211 PSAGCE.
It has 32-bit Vista as the operating system.

Now, it is dual bootable Centos linux with Vista and it does not start in Centos, displaying the message "EHCI: transfer of the BIOS has not (bug BIOS?). 01010001 "and it restarts automatically, without any statement by me. "Reboot" again and again.

The same problem appears when loading windows 7 or windows 8. With windows vista, only it doesn't have problem. The only problem with Vista is that Skype does not recognize my toshiba webcam.

My bios version is 2.2, and unfortunately, the TOSHIBA support site does not support the model of mylaptop with another more recent version of the bios. I tried to load the new version of the bios of other Toshiba A300 model, but my phone does not support the flash BIOS.

Please help me! It is very important for my work to solve this problem.

I wait anxiously for any help or idea or a new version of the BIOS.

    Kind regards

Please give me a solution as soon as possible because I can't work!

    Thank you very much.

  • Satellite L500 does support VMX?

    Hi friends,

I am using Toshiba L500 series, I installed the 64-bit version of Centos 5.3 in my computer successfully, but I want to install another version of centos5.x in the Virtual Machine box, but it was not installed, in the middle of the installation of the Centos 5.x 32 bit it was struck, then please say one, it is very important to me...

    Thanks and greetings

    Vnvs Swamy

    > Toshiba does support VMX?
Maybe it sounds silly now but Toshiba supports own products only. With other words Toshiba must offer support for hardware and software pre-installed.

If you use a third party software and there is a problem, that you should contact the first software company to see what they say on this subject.
Toshiba has nothing to do with Centos 5.3 and VM box. You can call the hotline of Toshiba and ask, but I'm 100% sure that you will get the same answer.

    Salvation mountain,

Thanks to attach the report system log - I think I have a solution for you :-) Let's look at some of the lines:

    890: / proc/meminfo:
    891: MemTotal: kB 3894712

    1726: / proc/iomem:
    ...
    1784: 100000000-12dffffff: System RAM

    1807: / bin/dmesg:
    ...
1820: RAM BIOS fitness card: 2576: [nipple] more than 4 GB of memory addressable detected.
    ...
    1838: BIOS-e820: 0000000100000000 - 000000012e000000 (usable)
    ...
2576: [nipple] more than 4 GB of memory addressable detected.
2577: [nipple] this configuration is not supported. Check the release notes for more information.

Starting at the bottom to 2576.2577, dmesg lines had more than just the NI-VISA signature notification server. To start the system, the kernel modules OR refused to load because they detected more than 4 GB of memory addressable. But, if you look upward to the 890.891 lines, meminfo says that you have less than 4 GB of memory system, which makes it appear as modules OR don't know what they are talking about. However, if you look at the report of iomem down on lines 1726.1784, system RAM was relocated above the 4 GB limit. While your system has no more than 4 GB of RAM, part of his memory addresses beyond 4 GB, which can not use modules OR and so they refuse to load. -What happened? Your BIOS has provided a physical map of the RAM with usable over the threshold (line 1838) addresses.

The difficulty here is simple: you must specify the kernel to reserve addresses beyond 4 GB [1] so that it won't remap RAM into a memory. Once all the RAM addresses below 4 GB, the modules must load and VISA/LabVIEW/al. should stop bad conduct.

It seems to me that LabVIEW does not handle this situation very gracefully, and maybe you can work with Kira to file a bug report.

I did it on CentOS 7 (3.10.0 - 229.14.1.el7.x86_64, 64-bit version, apparently). Does anyone have an idea?

    Hello

According to Jason Smith in a similar discussion on the GPIB-USB on RHE 7 support:

    http://forums.NI.com/T5/instrument-control-GPIB-serial/USB-GPIB-HS-support-under-Red-Hat-7/TD-p/3235...

The list on the web page is wrong and that you make reference to the list of hardware supported in the Readme.txt:

PS: I realize that this isn't a supported Cisco OS, but I would try it before falling to RHEL

Editing/etc/redhat-release should allow WCS start.  I run ours on CentOS 5 and I had to make this change.

Just comment out the line CentOS and add the following Red Hat line.  You will probably need to be root to do this and

It may require a reboot.  I also after execution of updates to CentOS note that usually back the file changes

and WCS does not restart.  I keep a copy of the file on the server's desktop, then copy it on after the updates.

I have not noticed any problems running on CentOS, just thought I'd throw that out there.

    Hello Sir,

I get the comment below from oracle...

None of the versions of Oracle DB and editions are certified to run on CentOS. It does not mean that technically it won't work, but it is not officially certified by Oracle. This means that if there is a problem due to this combination of operating system and Oracle DB, Oracle support is not available for this combination.
