support for vCenter 5.5U2b XP

Hey everybody.  I just wanted to know if vCenter 5.5U2b with the end of support for XP and Vista will always vm with these OS to run on the host computer or not?  Thank you.

Windows XP and Vista are not supported as an operating system to run vSphere (Web) client application. This is absolutely NOT related to the question of whether you can run these operating systems as a guest on ESXi hosts operating system. Read the release notes: vCenter Server 5.5 updated 2B Release Notes

vSphere Web Client.

From vSphere 5.5 Update 2, Windows XP, and Windows Vista are not supported under vSphere Client Operating System. You can find the complete list of operating systems supported by the Web Client in the vSphere VMware Compatibility Guide.

Windows XP and Vista are still supported to run as guest operating system VM on the latest versions of ESXi 5.5 U2 (the version of vCenter is unimportant), see the list of the guest operating system compatibility:

    Is R2 platform support?

I read the correct documentation that SQL 2008 Express is NOT supported as vCenter database?

    Hello.

In http://www.vmware.com/pdf/vsphere4/r40/vsp_compatibility_matrix.pdf , it says that Windows 2008 R2 is supported as the operating system on the server vCenter Server.

    R2 is not mentioned in http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US&cmd=displayKC&externalId=1022137 .

What is listed in the compatibility matrix is correct, then Yes.

I read the correct documentation that SQL 2008 Express is NOT supported as vCenter database?

Yes.  Use you it as a database, or just use the SQL SERVER 2005 Express that comes with vCenter?

When you create an import or export tasks and select a vNetwork Distributed Switch in the choice of the network for the virtual machine target, the task begins but does not immediately with the following error message: unknown error returned from agent vCenter Converter. This problem appears when you use the wizards to import or export or the convert Command Line Interface (CLI) tool to create the task.

  • Support for Windows 2008 R2 in vCenter Server 2.5 U4 and 4.0

I'll have no problem creating models in both versions of vCenter Server. The question arises when you try to deploy the model to the Customization Wizard help. Under 4.0, it immediately comes up as not supported (7 64 windows server). Minus 2.5 U4, there is no tag for Windows 2008 R2 OS.

Support for this OS will be released in a next update on both vCenter servers (specifically the Customization Wizard)?

Windows 7 and Windows 2008 R2 is not supported with vSphere yet but experimental and should be supported subsequently released but they're working on it. You can run the wizard of customization with Windows 2008 however, here's how the instructions http://vinf.net/2009/07/09/how-to-deploy-a-windows-2008-server-from-a-template-with-vsphere/

  • Problem with OpenManage integration for vCenter - OMSA status: update required

    Hello

We have a problem with the configuration of OpenManage integration on a vSphere 5.5 U2 Cluster. We have deployed IMO for vCenter v 2.3.0 build 290 aircraft, and we have installed manually OMSA VIB v7.4.0.2 on our 5.5. U2 ESXi hosts.

The question we face is respect for vSphere host - when we start the Wizard "Fix Non compliant vSphere Host" it displays the correct version of the OMSA - 7.4.0.2 but OMSA status is "required update".

Whe test us the connection to hosts using "Test the connection profile", it hangs at 0% and will be never finished.

Also in the OpenManage integration in vSphere Client "Frimware" tab option is grayed out.

Please indicate how we can make this work?

    Concerning

    Milan

Well, I did some research more and found that ESXI 5.5 U1 and U2 don't are not supported by OMSA right now.

    FTP://FTP.Dell.com/manuals/all-products/esuprt_software/esuprt_virt_solutions/Dell-Mgmt-plugin-for-VMware-Center-2.3_Release%20Notes_en-us.PDF

ESXi 5.5 U1 and U2 are supported only for the OMIVV on the servers of 12th and 13th generation who are capable of out-of-band management and require no OMSA must be installed on the host system. We intend to add a supported of the OMSA version at a later date.

    Thank you

  • Can someone advise on RHEL 7 comments OS customization support in vCenter Version 6.0?

    Hello

I need to change the configuration of the NIC through customization of the guest operating system, but I have a problem using RHEL 7.0 guest os customization in vCenter Version 6.0 and 6.0 ESXi

Can someone advise on RHEL 7 comments customization OS support?

According to the customization Guest OS Support Matrix (http://partnerweb.vmware.com/programs/guestOS/guest-os-customization-matrix.pdf), Version 6.0 (6.0 ESXi) vCenter supports for customization of RHEL 7.0 guest os but it keeps showing error message as below

Error: customization of the guest operating system "rhel7_64Guest" is not supported in this configuration. Microsoft Vista (TM) and Linux guests with the logical volume Manager are supported only for the recent host ESX and VMware Tools versions. Refer to documentation vCenter for supported configurations.

    Concerning

Are installed and running VMware tools? If so, which version? And you use VM opened since RHEL repository tools or tools provided by VMware?

For customization of open tools for VM and Linux OS, you must make the package open-vm-tools-deploypkg installed, which is not part of the base open VM Tools:

Install the plug-in in a virtual machine Linux deployPkg

  • SQL Server edition full for vCenter Server 6.0

    Hello

Just learn that vCenter 6.0 does not support SQL Server Express.

We intend to use SQL Server 2008R2 as the database of vCenter Server 6.

We would like to ask for your opinion if we should use the full 32-bit or 64-bit SQL Server Edition?  For SQL Server Express, 64 - Bit is used, I think that we need to use 64 bits one, is this correct?

    Your opinion is requested.

Just learn that vCenter 6.0 does not support SQL Server Express.

The Windows 6.0 vCenter dropped the integrated SQL Express, BUT instead, it comes with a SQL database vPostgres shipped to replace it with similar restrictions. You don't need to install your own SQL server if you're ok with these limits. See the following article:

vSphere 6 - clarify misinformation. VMware vSphere Blog - VMware Blogs

Databases are supported for installing windows SQL 2008 R2, 2012 and 2014, Oracle 11g and 12 c as well as the possibility of using an embedded database vPostgres on windows vPostgres is limited to 20 guests and 200 VMs. Upgrades where SQL express is installed will be converted to vPostgres. The vCenter Server Appliance supports the vPostgres shipped to full scale, the host of 1000 and 10,000 virtual computers and is the database recommended for vCenter server unit. Oracle 11g and c 12 external databases are also supported for this version, look for these to drop in the future releases.

It is also possible to keep an existing SQL Express DB when you perform an upgrade:

VMware KB: Upgrade vCenter Server 6.0 without migration of the SQL database to vPostgres

If you use your own SQL server to go with a 64-bit version and stick them on products VMware interoperability Matrices.

  • Support the vCenter running on one database group availability of AlwaysOn SQL 2012?

I've encountered this question a lot, especially now that people are making more and more SQL 2012 AlwaysOn groups availability.  VMware supports the database of vCenter running on a SQL 2012 AlwaysOn Dag?  I know that vCenter 5.5 now supports SQL 2012 AlwaysOn Failover Clustering (with a shared mode RDM LUN), but I can't find any support statements about the SQL 2012 AlwaysOn availability groups, that make use of the Microsoft replication technology rather than share LUNs.  Does anyone know if VMware has an official statement about this configuration for vCenter?  (Also for extra credit, how about you Update Manager, SRM and the database of the VMware View events?)

    Thank you

    Bill

    N ° they do not.

What's worse, is that not looking at it that your support contract says, you only get "best effort support" for your environment.

  • No support for npapi plugin?

Hi, we use software that is based on JAVA for our clients to access our services. As I read in some news, support for NPAPI plugins will end in the 64-bit version of firefox 41 (so java no longer be supported). This is only version 64-bit windows or Linux and Mac also being targeted? We need this information so that we can tell our customers that we always support the browsers.
    Thanks in advance

Only the start of Firefox Win64 41,0 + version will have only whitelisted Flash Player 64-bit for now.

64 bit versions of Mac OSX and Linux may continue to use other plugins compatible 64-bit in addition to Flash Player.

That the Firefox 42.0 is the current target for Win64 version as was 41.0 previously. The Fx Win64 41.0 b # is based on the beta channel will be affected by the white list.
