  I just received a phone call on my cell phone, to a call center in India and that the appellant asked if I recently authorized a person outside the country to use my hotmail account?  They see any suspicious activity and suggest that change my password right away.  Is this true for they really would call me for this?  Can they see this information?  Should I change my password? the # they called from is 678909876

  It is a SCAM. This is FALSE. Microsoft never, ever call you with these questions. As long as you don't give them any information, or give them access to your computer, you should be fine.

• Concern about the authenticity of a support phone call unsolicited Microsoft

  I received a number of phone calls in the last 24 hours from a caller, saying: it's from Microsoft to support me to eliminate the error messages alert red and yellow of my hardrive system (offline). They are willing to talk to me through this process on the phone.  I'm afraid that it is an appeal from the scam. Can you tell me if Microsoft does indeed support calls at t customers its nature or if I should ignore this caller if they ring again.

  It's a scam.  Next time you receive such a call tell them you know it's a scam, you tell your friends to be wary, and you have contacted law enforcement and allowed your phone to watch to help apprehend the scammers.  Bet your calls will stop.

  And congratulations to not fall for this scam... a lot of people to fall and suffer pecuniary damage to do.

• I get phone calls from "microsoft" and phone number to see if it is legitimate. The India what it seems.

  Bogwe I think, he wouldn't give me any info just kept asking if I was the owner of the account. I had problems with my computer, he said. Not really. No phone number that I could call back to see who it was, really, Miss 1 number on my caller ID. I think that scam and also sounded like he was English Eastern decent, broken. BEWARE! Microsoft you must put a warning message it will last eternally.

  I had phone calls from the "team microsoft technical" eager to help with my computer as it is slow.  they take me in "teamviewer" which I didn't like. are these people for real?

  If you first contact then they are crooks.  MS will NEVER ' you call MS have no. WAY OF KNOWING that there is a problem with your computer.

  Suppose that your computer has been compromised if you let access.  Carry out checks for malware, virus check, firewall checks and change ALL your passwords passwords Bank ESPECIALLY.   Check your bank accounts other than your computer.

  FYI, I received a phone call in Somerville tonight of a number blocked a man with bad English. Maybe Indian, who claims to be from Microsoft Technical support telling me that he needed me to turn on my computer to correct an infection.  He gave me 213-221-3528 recalled, I tried, but does not seem to be a real company.  I think it was a con man.

• Received a phone call about Microsoft Security Essentals scam

  I got caught in this scam. I received a phone call and allowed access and paid by credit card for the technician assumed to install at a price of 210 euros microsoft security essentials software and another program called registry reviver.

  I was taken because my laptop was able to test reports errors and at times he would go blue and then to restart and so I fell for the scam. They were very professional and answered all quries that I had.

  Please tell what should I do now and what they might do with my information.

  In my opinion, I had to cancel the credit card used to make the purchase and see if you can return that money to the CC company. Then I would run a full scan using Microsoft Malware removal tool.

• Fake phone call from microsoft about an error report which does not send

  a phone call on my landline today which is active for 2 weeks of the gentleman called Sam Parker claiming that it was Microsoft. He said that my computer was going slowly and that an error report had them alerted to the fact that certain safety ripped on my computer? There therefore eft with unfamiliar programs on here etc etc. Me being the shocking type said I saw the error message but not him hadn't sent because it crashed me the kick-off of the system. He didn't want to log on and it me by happen then to the technical team who could advise me where they were and I could remove them. All this happened yesterday, or the day before that I don't remember. I told him I wasn't going to do this as it could be anyone and asked for a phone number to call later today on. He gave me the number, but when I tried to ring it says wrong number and if I use the reminder it bleeps just like the engaged tone. Ayone can tell me if he's a jerk or real please?   I received a phone call saying he was Microsoft Windows and there are system reported that my computer was full of viruses and malware, and they said that my computer was sending viruses in e-mails that they lock my email account in order to protect others. I stupidly gave details as he said that if I did it would install antivirous in the computer as a dinner he says my current software wasn't good.

  Then he forced me to enable remote assistance and took me to the purchase for Business Package of distance page help for New World Services Inc. and forced me to enter my data I did. After completing the session, I received an email of New World Services Inc., saying that I had bought the business package and looking upward found only for four years. I then went to my Bank and the cashier told me it was a scam and I got mannaged to cancel the card before it empied my account although New World Services Inc. did take £252.00 my account and told them about the scam and that I don't want there services and do not call me.

  I always get calls saying they are Microsoft Windows or they are malicious and calling about my computer with virus software and when I don't, thank you and hung up there have been moments when someone else says the exact same words as little as an hour later, well that people call regularly as now I know most of them as soon as they speak.

  They installed ammyy to allow access through my firewall to send windows logs them so with selected McAfee frirwall and ammyy blocked as they had shown me the observer of events the adminastrative events and said cuircles reds are virouses and yellow triangles are malware. When I said that the red circle is when I did a forced when troubleshooting stop where I pressed the button for a few seconds.

  Then I got a phone call saying could I turn on my computer as the info from my computer that has virouses and malware had said. If blocking ammyy had worked as before they were able to tell red any yellow order of events. So I then removed my computer ammyy and that they would not receive the ball more.

  When after I dial to get phone calls not the last call, I get when they called and get that they do not have the number of appellants and it has afflicted me that sometimes there was as little as an hour between calls, it seems I'd barr the number of fraudsters and barr New World Services Inc. If they continue to call and if need be I have to change my phone number.

  1. contact your credit card company, if you had given the scammer, your credit card number.

  -Cancel the card and ask for a replacement with different identification number.
  -If you have paid the scammer with your credit card. The card has been compromised.

  2. contact your bank.
  -Change the account.
  -Change the PIN code.

  3. If you saw the crook of remote access to your computer, it is compromised.
  -Reinstall Vista
  -Use another user name and password.

  4. talk to your local law enforcement... If you want to go that far.
  -Ask to speak to people in the Department of wire fraud. See if something can be done about it.

  5. change the phone number.
  -Scammers will call you. They will not stop.

Someone called me and told me that she calls me from Microsoft and said some malware is installed in my computer and she told me to turn on your computer and do the instruction, she tells me.  I do not trust it because it's weird to have a call from microsoft on Saturday evening at 7:00. Finally I hung upward and the lady called me again and gave me this info: name: Abam Sorgr, empID: 21536 Windows operation system Dept., at Montreal, Canada, she gave me her employee ID:21536, the phone, her name was 65391989 which don't belonge to the Canada. I told him I check from microsoft and you can call me tomorrow. and now I have no idea?

  These phone calls are usually of a person representing Windows rather than Microsoft, but in any case, the call was nothing else than a phishing attempt! Do not give any information.

  Reported people on these calls for a person who represents Windows (note: not Microsoft).

  It is a scam! Not to follow their instructions or advice and not to provide ANY information to them.

  Because they use the internet lines and/or phone to complete their fraud, there may be federal agencies in your country who are interested in discovering their calls (e.g. RCMP). Their report directly to the appropriate agency if you feel you can contribute to their arrest and the charges.

  Microsoft do NOT pick up the phone and start dialing customers and never phones/e-mails asking for personal information or asking them to visit a web site! Please do not take into account these calls and hang up immediately.

  On another note, if you have problems with your computer, please do not hesitate to post a description of the situation and the error messages you received in those forums. We would be happy to help you. (information staff unnecessary or requested !)

  It is a popular scam. Microsoft has no unsolicited phone calls. Better to hang up immediately.

  I just got a phone call from www.askpcexperts.com in Florida saying they called to Microsoft and that my computer was sending Microsoft to Microsoft error messages. They wanted to go me to their site and run a program. I told them I would call them back after checking with Microsoft.
