  Like Yingkuan said, changing (at least) the database services and the listener to the manual (instead of the default automatic value).

  Then create a small batch with the Net Start command to start these services. (and another to stop).

  net start "OracleOraDb11g_home1TNSListener".
  net start "OracleServiceORCL".

  net stop "OracleServiceORCL".
  net stop "OracleOraDb11g_home1TNSListener".

  (the name of your database can be more ORCL)

  Then, you can double-click to start and stop Oracle as often as you want.

  As I mentioned, there are exceptions that you can't intercept. If this work of dbms_refresh.refresh ('TEST'); results in an exception fatal server (usually an ORA-600 or an error ORA-07445 ), you can not only catch a PL/SQL block exception. All you will see (if you have a client session), is the "+ ORA-03113 end-of-file on communication channel +" error.

  Yes, you can catch a number of other exceptions. And Yes, you can write these exceptions to the errorlog table.

  Create a package error log that makes the insertion in the errorlog table. Use an autonomous transaction because it allows the error log to insert without making all existing transactions.

  Also record all PL/SQL of the error stack trace, because it helps to determine where the exception occurred. Something like dbms_utility.format_call_stack allows to get the call stack and insert this result in the error log line in the error log table.

  Then call this package since the exception handler for the refresh job.

  But before you do, you need to consider whether or not you remove this exception or not. If you do, then Oracle work process does not see this exception and think that the work has been a success.   I had a similar error.  This seems to be a function of the indexing of offline files when you synchronize a large number of files.  By temporarily disabling indexing of offline files, you can synchronize all your files and then re - activate the indexing.

  To disable indexing, clear the checkbox 'offline files' under control panel > Indexing Options.  Then synchronize as usual and re - activate when you are finished.
