System Win XP don't go in mode sleep by himself

For example, in the power options menu, I've set up the system mode after an hour, but it will never to sleep.  I activated Hibernate also, but do not use this function.  Used to work, she just stopped without reason.  It will be on standby manually if I use start > turn off computer > Stand By.  There is no visuses in my system.  I have Win XP Service Pack 3, 2 gig of ram, dual core processor, 500 GB HD with tons of free space.  Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I don't think that I misunderstood your problem.  The setting in the power control panel sets the system to go to standby mode after so many minutes of inactivity.  So now, we need to know what "inactivity" means.  According to Jose (and I agree), any background program or task that awakens and uses more than a certain amount of CPU resets the internal timeout value to switch to standby mode.  This means that a program such as a Virus protection program can wake up and decide to scan your hard drive.  This will make your computer look busy, and so the time remaining before switching to standby mode Gets the Maximum back again.

To debug this problem, you must close the process are running until you find the one that is your system alive.  One way to do this is to use "msconfig" to limit which runs at the start of your computer.

    Hello

I have a U400 also, but the PSU40E and installed Win XP SP3.
I can use Hibernate mode and standby without big problems.

Just a question; You update the BIOS?
I did and installed the latest version of the BIOS from the page of the European driver Toshiba before I ve installed Win XP.

In addition, I would like to know if you use the Toshiba Power saver.
Toshiba Power saver was chosen in my power options Windows and I can go to sleep mode by pressing FN + F3.

  • Satellite C650-1CN won't mode 'sleep'

The laptop doesn't pass in mode 'sleep'. The screen turns off but the PC does not sleep. I can force the sleep using the function keys, by closing the lid or the start menu.

I have two Satellites with the same applications, it works perfectly, but it does not sleep. The old PC running Windows 7 32, the new PC running Windows 7 64 with Toshibas own power management utility.

I tried to change the power management settings in Windows 7 and this has not solved the problem. The computer won't sleep on a network or in battery mode. The PC is a C650-1CN, bios has been upgraded to 1.5 and it has 4 M of RAM.

Spoils a beautiful machine that is a good value.

    > The laptop don't pass in mode 'sleep'. The screen turns off but the PC does not sleep.
    > I can force the sleep using the function keys, by closing the lid or the start menu.

Have you tried to change the different time for mode 'sleep'?
How about processes that are running in the background?
These running processes can prevent the notebook to access the mode 'sleep'.

As you can see here on this screeshot, it s necessary to the configuration of the power plant.

Now I can't restart the computer (it crashes or goes to the blue screen; Win 7) but it starts in Mode safe mode OK and it starts in normal mode if I don't run Firefox since I finally started. Hello

Some Firefox problems can be solved by performing a clean reinstall. This means that you remove Firefox program files, and then reinstall Firefox. Please follow these steps:

Note: You can print these steps or consult them in another browser.

    1. Download the latest version of Firefox from http://www.mozilla.org office and save the installer to your computer.
    2. Once the download is complete, close all Firefox Windows (click on quit in the file menu or Firefox).
    3. Remove the Firefox installation folder, which is located in one of these locations, by default:
      • Windows:

        • C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox
        • C:\Program Files (x 86) \Mozilla Firefox
      • Mac: Delete Firefox in the Applications folder.
      • Linux: If you have installed Firefox with the distribution-based package manager, you must use the same way to uninstall: see Install Firefox on Linux. If you have downloaded and installed the binary package from the Firefox download page, simply remove the folder firefox in your home directory.
    4. Now, go ahead and reinstall Firefox:
      1. Double-click on the downloaded Setup file and go through the steps in the installation wizard.
      2. Once the wizard is completed, click to open Firefox directly after clicking the Finish button.

Please report back to see if this helped you!

I've had this laptop for a little over a week and when it goes into mode 'sleep' trying to wake him up, all the lights on the keyboard lights up and I hear it works but the screen remains black. I updated display drivers and that fixed it for a few days but now it stopped working again. updated audio drivers would force it to not wake from sleep mode kos that he worked well, since I've updated the display driver and then yesterday I updated audio drivers and he returned to not wake up once again in mode 'sleep'. any help much apreciated.

Updated the BIOS and update the driver to display again.
Maybe the after the audio driver that something was wrong, you can clean the registry using CCleaner in most of the cases it s a good idea.

    Hello

You should check if your BIOS is up to date.

Usually, there is no special procedure to wake in Unity mode sleep or hibernation, you must press the power button (very short) and it will wake up the unit on the mode 'sleep'.

I get an error message when the computer attempts to enter the mode 'sleep', after the time runs out of screensaver.  It will not allow the pc go to the "sleep mode" and if I try all options listed... it starts then the mode "standby".  Sometimes, it appears immediately and I can ignore it by continuing the work at hand.

The message is this: Windows - No disk

It would be interesting to know what your system brand and model is and what your version XP and the Service Pack, but it's just a fantasy of mine that the Microsoft Answers forum would actually make for such things when a new issue is created.  This shortfall in crude in the development of MS Answers forums unnecessarily prolongs solving simple problems.

If you don't see a message like this:

No disk, Exception Processing Message c0000013 parameters 75b6bf7c 475b6bf7c 75b6bf7c

Until you can determine what the 'real' problem is with your hardware, you can disable the pop-up message by making a registry adjustment.

Before making changes to the registry, back up your registry with this free and easy to use tool popular:

    http://www.SnapFiles.com/get/ERUNT.html

Click Start, run and enter in the box:

    Regedit

Click OK to open the registry editor, navigate to the following key:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Windows

In the right pane, check the value of the ErrorMode setting.

If ErrorMode is set to 0, double click on ErrorMode and set 2 (2 = disabled).

Click OK to save the changes, and then click file, exit to close the registry editor.

Any error will always be displayed in case view the log, but you won't see any popups

Reboot your system and check the things now.

  • SP U400 - cannot return to the desktop after entering in the mode 'sleep' by closing the lid

Satellite Pro U400 V-11 I used for a week. I don't know if this is a problem or I did something wrong. My setting of closing the lid is recording mode "Eve" in Vista.

When I close the lid and open a few minutes later it's ok, I see the password login screen. But if the computer is in "sleep" for a while it does not return to the office when I lift the lid. The screen is black. Fan started working then quiet several times.

The first three LEDs on the left are green. Keyboard does not respond. And also switch / stop does not work either I press once on or hold it. And only after I unplug the power adapter and press the power, it works. But it restarts the system and Windows could not close correctly the error message is displayed.

Is this normal or something wrong with the mode 'sleep'?
    Thank you

    Hello

I read on some of the similar problems regarding "standby" mode and the black screen.
Someone suggested to update the BIOS and the display driver

So I highly recommend it too much
See the European driver of Toshiba page, choose the model right for laptop and try to update the BIOS, then the display driver.

Reboot the laptop and see if the problem still occurs.

The same problem with my 20 has 7. Lenovo said machine is DOA and I should have the motherboard replaced (they have no respondent relly on that much, technology has decided that, in 1 minute).

That's what I discovered when I went to install Win7 to a factory condition: I has nothing to do with the power manager; the problem persists with the PM old or newer version. When it is plugged into the internet connection wired and wifi not activated - sleep and Awakenings are solid as a rock. When WiFi - reproducible gel mode "sleep".

Run the utility of the Lenovo software update and install optional install WLAN Intel 17.12.0. Or check in your control panel to win if you have the Intel "Proset/Wireless Software 17.12.0 already installed. This update fixed the problem for me. But I have not any 3rd party software turns yet, so I can't say that this is the final solution.
