T400 suddenly won't boot beyond the ThinkPad splash screen

.. .only visible indicator of a problem is that the drive activity light on the bottom of the screen stops ignition etc when the ThinkPad splash screen appears. No bumps in the system, no unusual activity to suggest physical damage to computer laptop or disk - started very well in the morning on the desk, would not restart from the same location on the office after lunch. System also won't start on a bootable system disk (but you can hear the drive access). System is less than one year.

I solved my problem: Lenovo Service Center for repair under warranty here a diagnosis nor a bad mother and a bad battery, due to abuse of the handling, etc. the computer could suffer (it seemed to be a factory default). No indication as to whether one or the other 'bad' component caused the other to fail. in total 48 hrs to repair, most of the waiting time for a new motherboard coming in the night. No charge to me for what it is. Life goes on.

  • HP ENVY 17-K270CA: new Envy 17 must be started twice to go beyond the HP splash screen

Everytime I turn on my new laptop (core i7, 16 GB RAM, age of less than 10 days), it loads the home screen HP quickly, but then hangs until I restart it then the 'little white wheel of loading"will start and then I'll get to the Windows loading screen. This whole process takes about 3-5 minutes, which seems excessive for an i7.

I talked to Tech Support, and a Quick Scan showed that it was not the hard drive. We have updated the BIOS and the problem remains. Because this indicates that it might be the motherboard, it was recommended to me that I have send the computer back for Exchange, since it is still under warranty.  I started this process, but after discovering this let me without a computer for at least two weeks, or more, I was wondering if there is another solution for this problem.

    -d.

    Hi @Denise31,

    Thank you for your query.

I understand that after upgrading to Windows 10, it loads the home screen HP quickly, but then crashes until you it reboot and then the "small white wheel of loading" will start and then it goes to the Windows loading screen. You have contacted support and they did a quick scan to remove the hard drive.  You have updated the bios but haven't changed and they recommended an Exchange but that will leave you without a laptop for two weeks.

Here are a few things you can try.

The first thing to try is to disable the hybrid starting or stopping of the hybrid.

Here is a link to help you with this step.

    Turn quickly start/stop Windows 10 tenforums.com.

Here is a link to Open the Windows Update troubleshooting tool that can help to find additional drivers.   Although it lists Windows 7 it does not work in Windows 10.

Once launched, it should show a screen like this.

Use the second "Background Intelligent Transfer Service" option, this should lead to an update of the 'Windows updates' which cannot be automatically applied, which might fix some of these issues.

You can also try to restore the default power schemes.

Go to the command prompt and do a right-click to run as administrator

Type powercfg - restoredefaultschemes and press ENTER.

You can also try this link HP Notebook PC - computer starts up but screen remains blank (Windows, 10, 8).

It happened already, about 4-6 weeks, a friend fixed but it is now back to the black screen.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

For better understanding, you must offer more specific information.

  • Satellite C50 won't boot to the top

    Hello

My son satellite C50 won't boot to the top. It is connected to the power grid and will arrive at the password screen but as soon as you type goes into shutdown. Any suggestions please?

    Thanks in advance.

You write about Windows or BIOS password?

In any case, on this virtual path, it is not easy to give an exact explanation what can be wrong there.
Your son of many important data stored on this machine? If this isn't the case, you should try to reinstall the OS and test it with the factory settings.

What you can try is to enter the BIOS settings and leave the machine 5 minutes to see if cell phone will go OFF. If this isn't the case, set the BIOS to the default settings and try again.

Is the cooling fan may be strong at the start of the machine?

  • Satellite P300 itself keeps restarting after the initial splash screen.

My Satellite P300 itself keeps restarting after the initial splash screen.

Start-up of the first screen with the F2 and F12 options down is displayed, the screen goes black, then a cursor appears in the upper left corner and flashes once or twice. Then the laptop stops and restarts and goes through the same process again and again.

That's all with the power adapter is plugged in. If disconnected, he goes through the above process and close with no reboot.

Any help or advice would be much appreciated.

  • How can I get the TestStand splash screen to not show up when I call the results treatment Utility offline?

So I call the Offline processing Utility (ORPU) a not executable call results in a plugin to perform a personalised treatment in another configuration.  Everything works fine, including having run reduced (mostly hidden) by using the option/tray.  When he called, the TestStand splash screen appears (certainly is not a show-stopper but it's confusing from the point of view of the user).

Is it possible that I can get this start screen to not appear when calling the ORPU?  I noticed in the help, mention is made of the use of the callback file, and I wonder if someone has successfully used this to avoid the dialog box or other behaviors.  I would like more info on how it works, but it doesn't seem to be a vast detail on this in the help, and I'm not also find me useful examples.

The source of the Offline utility treatment results is included with TestStand and can be changed.

The ORPU source is located under "Components\Models\TestStandModels\Offline utility treatment results"

From the source, you can see that there is no flag that allows you to hide the splash screen (except for / I leave, but that it will also close the ORPU!); However, you can easily change the ORPU so it does not show the start screen by removing the following lines in \Components\Models\TestStandModels\Offline Results Processing Utility\OfflineResultsProcessingUtility\MainForm.cs

    If (! data.) Quit smoking)
    splashScreenForm = new SplashScreen (mEngine, false);

Regarding the flags without papers, there are not really many flags undocumented in the ORPU (even once, you can see them in the source), and undocumented flags have very specific use cases (open files from shell and NEITHER internal regression tests).

  • Pavilion h8 - 1070t: blocked on the HP splash screen, computer beep

I just installed a PSU Corsair CX600 and an EVGA GeForce gt 740.

When I start my PC, is rest on the start screen and beeps once, every ten seconds. After 3 beeps (30 seconds) my PC beeps again followed three quick beeps and the monitor stops receiving signal from the computer (I do not see the HP splash screen, no signal).

    What could be the problem?

I think that your problem is that the video card is not compatible with your BIOS.  EVGA 700 series cards require UEFI in the motherboard instead of a standard BIOS.  I suggest you to contact EVGA Tech Support (1-888-880-3842) to see if they have a VBIOS update that will allow the card to work with your computer.  If they do not have an update that they can email it to you.  Tell them that someone of the HP Forums suggested that you call.

  • FX6831-03 will not be able to start Windows. Just shows the gateway splash screen, then freezes

My Gateway FX6831-03 will not be able to start Windows.  Just shows the gateway splash screen, then freezes.  OS is updated to current MS Win7-64 bit-w/all and virus/malware protection., Went over 4 days vacation, and when I tried to turn it on, it should display the gateway splash screen, then stop. can't hear anything that happens on the inside.

Problem solved!  An external hard drive, powered by a separate power supply, was not turned on, but it was plugged into a USB port. When the computer "seen" this cross-town 'dead', he just stop - but no message appears problem.

The good part?  Vaced out all the dust and replace the bios battery.  [I'm good for at least another 2 years;-]

  • Satellite L20 260 won't boot to the top, every time it freezes with no reason

    Hi all

I have a problem with my satellite of sad, after 3-4 days I installed a new operating system (tried with XP SP2 and Kubuntu) system does not boot to the top, every time it freezes with no reason, the only way is to perferom a new installation of the OS. What is a hardware problem, perhaps related to the RAM or HARD drive?
    x 10, Daniele.

    Hello

It's not easy to tell if the problem is software or hardware related.
You must install the OS from the Toshiba Recovery CD and again test the functionality

If the laptop won't boot again freezes immediately after that installation of recovery CD, and then it could be a hardware problem.
You can try using MemTest 3.5 tool.
It checks the memory of a malfunction.

    Hi all
    Noobie here,
I think I caused a problem wher my P200, it won't start, it was very slow and I went into the Task Manager and deleted some programs that were not running, but using the memory.
In my view, there is a good chance I can I have deleted something that the system needs because it will not load upward.
I turn it on and I get a light on the HARD drive to the front and a light in the dvd drive, but nothing else, I tried pressing F8 and put the recovery disc in but nothing?

    Anyone have any ideas?

    Appreciate any help.
    John

I guess you are using the "F8" key to access Windows boot options and Windows is not to leave you. If this of * definitely * the case, then you must insert the recovery CD and change the device to boot from the screen as the laptop boot - can't remember which affects it is than its displayed on the bottom line. I think its possible that W7 can be repair o the problem and a full installation will be unnecessary

Hi Ive got a Satellite P100-434 and Ive had for more than a year.

Unfortunately today I couldn't get started.

The power led lights up, the HARD drive makes light very briefly.
The display lights. If she does not even there to boot in the bios.

Any idea what the problem might be? Im hoping that the CPU or the motherboard is not fried.

    see you soon

    John

Unless you bought the extended warranty, I don't think you have a lot of luck. My suggestion is to return to the place of purchase, if you still have warranty.

However, try to remove the battery for 1 minute and then replace the battery again. Try it turn on.

Also try with the power cable plugged in power and remove the battery.

If all else fails, then you have a very expensive paper weight.

    Good luck.
