T420 graphic Resolution

Hello, just got released a portable T420. I noticed that max graphics card resolution is outside to 1366 x 768 in Control Panel. The internal card card is rated much higher and my tuning monitor 1920 x 1080. I am currently running Windows XP and I use a VGA/SVGA cable. Any ideas of how to get the resolution up to 1920 x 1080? Thanks for the help!

Gamloi7 hey thanks for the help! I just turned off the laptop display and BOOM 1920 x 1200 on my monitor. So thanks a lot!

Hi @Malc_Edwd, thanks for the reply.

According to the characteristics of the graphics card, 4096 x 2160 is the maximum display resolution supported when you extend or replicate them to an external monitor or TV.

It does not just playing games.

I stand to be corrected the previous link I sent was for Mobile M330 graphics card, however you can refer to the link below for the graphic specifications R5 330.

    Link:http://hp.care/2dmU1RF

Using the link that you may know well can run a game on your PC.

Just mention details such as the type of CPU, memory and the name of the game it will tell you all the details.

Let me know if it helps!

    Have a great day!

  • Tecra M1 and support external graphics resolution 1400 x 1050

    Hello!

Are there special drivers or solutions that support the resolution 1400 x 1050 on an external monitor with Tecra M1?

Spec. I do not have this resolution too choose:
Trident XP4m32 graphics controller. 32 MB of video memory DDR
    Support of the exterior colors:
    1280 x 1024, 1024 x 768, 800 x 600; 100 Hz Non interlaced @ 16 M
    1600 x 1200; 85 Hz Non interlaced @ 16 M
    2048 x 1536, 1920 x 1440; 60 Hz Non interlaced @ 16 M

    / Shovel

    Hello

Your favorite resolution 1400 x 1050 is not available because the graphics card or a chip of the graphics card driver does not support this resolution.

In your manual, you can find details about the external resolutions supported and available.
    Check it out.

If 1400 x 1050 is not mentioned then the GPU would not support this and that's why you would not be able to use it!

  • 14F L40 satellite with a graphic resolution problem

    Hello!

    I have Toshiba Satellite L40 - 14F with XP Home SP2 and BIOS 5.10.

I installed this OS with the old version of the BIOS (1.60 - if good I remember)- and everything worked well.
About a month ago, I upgraded the BIOS to version 5.10 (by that I repaired
problem with no Wi - Fi LED lighting) and laptop worked too correct.
But yesterday XP started with the depth of display resolution 640 x 480 and 4 bit color!
When I tried to change resolution back to 640 x 480 and 4 bit color :(

There are no errors in Device Manager and no problems with other devices.
I reinstalled the graphics driver (the same who was working ok and last of Intel)
and no effect. With the XP system only - driver resolution and colors are ok.
Finally I formatted the partition, XP reinstaled with drivers - and... resolution 640 x 480! :(
Other devices (WiFi, audio etc.) work well.

Where is the problem? Is this driver Intel graphics can t work with BIOS 5.10?
Why system worked properly with the same drivers but not now?
Maybe I need to go back to old BIOS and reinstall XP - but Windows install
    This change is impossible...

    Help me please :)

L40 - 14F Satellite belongs to the series of PSL4CE. Am I wrong?
Could you please check the number at the bottom of the unit? Thank you

As far as I know this laptop was equipped with the Mobile Intel GL960
    Chipset Express (code name; ClestlineGML)

Right now, that the European driver Toshiba page provides the BIOS XP v5.40 - WIN and Intel display driver v6.14.10.4833.
But I wonder if you have installed the good BIOS?  :|

Try to upgrade to version 5.40. It is designed for the PSL4CE series.

If the update of the BIOS will not help you, then a problem of graphics card might be possible

One question; Have you noticed the same problem with OS installed since the Toshiba Recovery CD?

  • Z240: Graphic Resolution on Z240

I try to configure my new HP Z240 workstation, but cannot get the graphics card to run at any resolution above 1024 X 768. The graphics card is a NVIDIA QUADRO K620. It is connected to the display with a DVI - D dual link cable. The monitor is an HP w2408. The monitor has two inputs (DVI and VGA). I have the VGA input connected to another HP computer with a card NVIDIA GeForce GT 610 (this computer/card/monitor displays at 1920 x 1200). When I checked the adapter (using the list of modes option) modes, listed the best mode is 1024 x 768. NVIDIA sheet lists the max resolution with DVI - I in 2560 x 1600 or 1920 x 1200. What can I do to get the most out of my screen (1920 x 1200) resolution?

Update.  Problem solved. When I realized that the monitor in DVI mode was not recognized as PNP, upon the screen as the problem. Installed new monitor, everythng is working as it should. Of course the the old monitor VGA input worked fine while the DVI part was defective (card or cable connection).

  • T420 graphic card appearing does not

Hi, I have a T420 that I recently bought, and the seller said that the computer comes with a

NVIDIA NVS 4200 M graphics card. And no matter what I try I can't find anywhere.

    I went through:

    Device Manager

    CPUID HWMonitor

BIOS (no mention of switchable graphics anywhere, or even mention of video anywhere.)

I have downloaded the nvidia driver and he said that he could not find compatible graphics hardware.

As silly as it sounds I only bought this computer due to his condition and does, it came with a graphics card.

The model number is 4180-CP1, I checked the drivers for the model, and it is said there are available for laptop nvidia drivers. It is in very good condition so I don't think that the card can be fried, but I don't know what to do to get it activated. I've already updated the bios and nothing seems to have changed. (Through the lenovo update tool)

I really need to understand this because otherwise I have return the computer and that will cost me much!

  • T420 graphics update

    Hi guys,.

I am interested in the development of 3D models and animation using Maya as well as delve into the design of games using Unity 3D. I already had licenses for the two programs installed on my T420.

However, Maya tells me that my graphical output is not sufficient to run some things. So I did some digging on the Internet and learned that the T420 lacks a slot for graphics card and only uses the GPU chip on the motherboard.

I know that I can increase my RAM by adding a 4 GB key as well as speed up my hard drive by exchanging it for a faster SSD drive.

I was wondering if there is anything I can do to improve my shading machine.

    Please let me know?

    Thank you!

It is a problem common in many users.

There are interesting upgrades with HDD SSD, RAM, CPU, screen, etc, but also since the GPU Nvidia NV4200 card is integrated - SODA COMPONENT (as I am informed) - in the T420, there is little or nothing to do. You will find a few users to talk eGPU as a solution, but in my case, my opinion is that it becomes royalty and practically it lead to many components external HW, at a voltage higher, several of them with parts of office, and it becomes impractical, as equipment kit is not a type of laptop.

Miserably, in the way that you adopt the updates for your laptop T420, the GPU becomes the BottleNecking, hard to enlarge.

In any case, I hope that the community is able to add more comments...

  • T420 Graphics support?

I recently received a T420 for virtualization in a lab environment.  I do not VDI, but I don't want to run several virtual machines at once, which will be my daily VM.  I have no need of a GPU for thousands of dollars more but I want graphics better than the edge [] most of the servers are given.  No crazy game, but some GPU functions would be nice.  That's the problem.  It seems that ONLY cards that this guy supports are the Q4000 and Q6000 Nvidia cards?  Seriously?  Is this really the case? I don't care about Dell support but I am not allowed to use my graphics for a $100 Best Buy card?  I really hope I'm just something missing.  The T420 allows graphics cards Nvidia Q4000 or Q6000?  If not, what is someone knows why?  What is a bios limitation?  Is this some other limitations of the technique?

    Hi Zanzaboo,

I'm not aware of what we have done to disable not taken in charge specifically video cards, although we certainly cannot guarantee their compatibility or we tested or them validated in all configurations and for this reason, do not recommend. For graphics supported on the T420 (as you correctly identified as the Q4000 and Q6000), you must disable video output shipped from the BIOS/system setup under embedded devices (pg 30-31, support.dell.com/.../T420OMen.pdf ) to get the video output. Note that when you do so, the video output of iDRAC virtual console will not be available until the embedded video is again enabled. I don't know of any reason you can not follow the same steps with an unsupported graphics card but I must stress we do not test or validate it and if it does not you would have any recourse under the guarantee (i.e. not replace us the motherboard for a defective PCI-e port for example). I don't know if PCI-e video passthrough works here, but you may need to configure the SR - IOV (just below the embedded video setting), by the needs of your hypervisor. Let us know how it goes and good luck!

  • Graphic resolution on Satellite L40 - 17Q problem

There is no if long my screen crashed... actually the turbine BP has opened with a screen resolution of 640 x 480 and 4 bit color.

I couldn't change the resolution or color depth, whenever I tried came back to 640 x 480. I tried to install the new versions of the driver, the old versions with no luck. I installed win. Vista and it worked but on my slow computer as short BONES.

Today I installed a new version of windows xp and before installing display drivers offered by Toshiba, the resolution worked higher then 640 x 480. After the instalation it failed once again. If I look in Device Manager I see that the drivers are installed and working, but there is another tab called "Other devices" which has 3 positions, all the 3 named "LGPhilipsLCDLP154WX4-TLD2".

No drivers are available for children of what I tried.

    Please help me! :-(

    Hello

In my case I have 3 entries called Plug-and-Play monitor.
I guess there is everything goes well in your device manager.
Instead of Plug & Play monitor your entry is called LGPHilipsLDC154WX4-TLD2.

Try to remove it from the Device Manager (mark it and delete), and then restart.
Perhaps the entry of the Plug-and-Play monitor is displayed.

If this isn't the case, well fine, then you should t be worried because it doesn't matter how this entry is called it shouldn't t affect anything!

    Help!

It seems that the drivers for your unit are not available at the moment. Maybe it will be available in the coming weeks. In any case, when the appliance is pre-installed with recovery media (or have factory settings), you can create own Tools & Utilities CD. This CD, you can use forr all other facilities.

I presume you didn't create it. Am I wrong?

  • T420s Graphics

@All: is it possible to disable the integrated graphics card and use only the dedicated? It would be logical to do or I would mess just to the top of my system? Thanks in advance.

If you mean by dedicated the integrated card Nvidia NV4200S so yes, just go in the BIOS (press F1 at startup) and go in the graphic section. You can select built-in (Intel), discrete (Nvidia) or Optimus (both). You just make sure * disable * OS consciousness in the last line. If you leave that enabled, Windows 7 will put it to Optimus.

If by chance you mean an external graphics adapter connected to the Express Card location then not, there is a different process for this (involving disabling manually a graphics card in WIndows 7 Device Manager)

    Hello

Did you install VMware Tools? The last screenshot looks like it has not been installed at all.

In the Virtual Machine in Fusion menu, select "Install VMware Tools" and if nothing happens, navigate to the DVD-rom of the virtual machine, and then select install VMware Tools (not if your Windows 10 is 64-bit, you must select setup64 instead)

Then follow the steps to install VMware Tools.

If the menu Virtual Machine in Fusion says 'Reinstall VMware Tools', then... do not select it as a uninstall/reinstall is much more reliable, to remedy this:

-Uninstall VMware tools from the control panel

    -restart the guest operating system

-Install VMware Tools as described above

    Hello

What is the max of the ThinkPad T420 docking resolution? I would like to connect a monitor with a 2560 x 1080 at 60 Hz resolution...

    Thank you and best regards

If you are using DisplayPort, it won't work. DVI port is single link and therefore capped at 1920 x 1080. VGA may or may not be able to drive it.

  • Re: Satellite Pro L300 - screen resolution maximum?

I just bought an external monitor for my L300. The screen resolution is 1920 x 1080, but the maximum available on my L300 is 1280 x 800. The utility Service Station tells me that all my drivers are up to date - is there a way I can increase the graphics resolution? Any suggestions much appreciated!

    Hi PeterSouthon,

Need to unlock the other screen resolutions. Simply uncheck the option Hide modes that this monitor cannot display as you can see on [THIS | http://blog.wildvista.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/12/Lightroom_hide_modes-340x400.png] photo.

After unchecking this box, you should be able to use the native screen resolution of your external display.
