T61 + locked HDD for warranty repair

Hello Forum,

My T61 (less than one year) suddenly stopped posting and loading windows. LEDs, fan will pass on, two beeps, but no out put on-screen. Tried an external monitor, air cleaned the openings of ventilation and heatsink without result.

If the machine has been sent for repair under warranty.

Question;

  1. I have improved the original HDD with a WD 500 GB HDD, does it affect the limited three-year warranty?
  2. I removed that drive and replaced the original 120 GB of HARD drive before you send him off of the laptop, I had put a HARD drive on the laptop locking and so can't access the data on the WD HARD drives on the desktop / HDD enclosure. I presume that attaching this drive to a another PC would simply give me a password and I then enter the password and access my data, does not. This gave me a few scary chills; If a major component such as the chip of the card mother/security or the portable integer is replaced, the laptop will be able to recognize that it locked HDD and prompt for the password? I have no recent backup and it has reminded me (again) to save before leaving home, backup when you get home, and then perform another backup while you sleep!

Advice or guidance to this mental torture will be highly appreciated.

In Australia, you can tell them the password and they will remove it for you. If you could call Lenovo and tell them to put a note here regarding the password, if the filing of the application for Lenovo, this information may be transmitted to technicians so they need.

  • Computer laptop cracked screen sent for warranty repairs!

    I recently had my laptop that is only two months old (Qomisio X 10 500 t) sent back to Toshiba for repair of the fingerprint reader. When the left laptop was in perfect condition and not a top scratch. having paid £1,500 for it I was very careful to keep safe. Toshiba sent mail UPS to perceive and delieverd to Toshiba, it was the next day. When I contacted Toshiba to confirm that it had arrived safely, they said that it had happened, and the repair team had begun to look at this day. 4 to 5 days later, I checked the status of service online, and he said required information. So I rang the customer service and they said that there was nothing on the notes and all well aseemed. 2 days after (today) I get a phone call saying that they found no problem with the hardware with the fingerprint reader, but they found a problem with the screen. After hold that they say that they have noticed a crack in the screen and have a prize of £500 for me to get it fixed. OMG! I told them that there are no cracks/scratches or anhthing when he left via UPS (their courior). I was asked if I had checked that UPS box and pacakaged it safely in front of me. They then say that they will contact me in 48 hours but the team repair always photograph the machines when they come in and say now it was cracked since the beginning. They sent me an email of the photo and there is massive cracks curved towards the bottom of the right side of the screen! Even then, they had the nerve to ask if I'd like to send them the quote so I said no cos I wouldn't pay for the repair of it.

    So what's with that position? Are they not corrected the original sin is the courior sent by Toshiba or Toshiba repairs broke the screen. I have no evidence that it wasn't like that before. I don't understand why Toshiba didn't ring the day they received, if there was a crack whethey opened the package? They would surely do this before even touching anything else. I think that the repair team broke and said it was like this before

    What should I do? I can't afford to pay for the repairs and even if I could I don't see why I should!

    Any input would be great.

  • Card NVIDIA of Pavilion Dv7 no longer works after warranty repair

    In February, I sent my Pavilion Dv7 (product # A5F93AV, running Windows 7 with NVIDIA GeForce GT 650 M graphics and more onboard Intel(r) HD Graphics 4000) for warranty repairs because he had lost the capacity of the batteries.  While there, according to the Scriptures, HP replaced the motherboard, the antenna wireless (twice) and the bottom of the case.  I received it by FedEx last Thursday, and superficially, everything works well.

    However, over the weekend, I loaded one of my most games intensive graphics (Guild Wars 2) and immediately noticed that the video performance was degraded. FPS fell less than 10, when before repair, the game went very well.  After some digging and run Open Hardware Monitor, looks like maybe running has not been reinstated to the GPU when the motherboard has been replaced and the game (and everything else) are using integrated computer graphics.  The monitor indicates that GPU temperature is constantly 0 degrees, with 0,0%, memory controller GPU load 0,0-0,0% video engine GPU GPU.  The GPU memory runs at a constant 2.8%

    Because it's my first machine, I really prefer is not to return to Texas for another 2-3 weeks.  Is that what I would be able to visually check myself and potentially connect myself without welding? If so, where I would look internally to do? or what should I take to my local repair shop to repair?

  • Repair under guarantee of Sony while traveling? How to get warranty for Z2 repair?

    My Z2 had so far appears that various issues of software a bit boring, but the equipment had been almost perfect, except for the camera not only stop after a short time in 4 K recording video but also record 1080 p video.

    Now I find that there are many users who have come off the back of their Z series phones. I had suspected a defective battery, swells, but after a Google search, I've seen reports that it's the NFC chip causing pressure outward against the back panel.

    Whatever it is, this phone never overwhelmed, falling or otherwise used inappropriately.  It was so well treated for, you would be unable to tell him apart from a brand new in the store.

    So, how can I get a Sony warranty repair, on a trip and not be out a phone too long?

    Any advice would be appreciated.

    Haha too funny... before I read your responses, this happened:

    Shortly after the rear is out (what I now know to be caused by heat repeated of the appliance waterproof glue that holds the back) the phone ended in a unrecoverable boot loop.

    I went to a Sony service center, which would do nothing - not on the warranty and not for money.  They said there only very few service centers authorized to work on waterproof phones in water.  I asked them to send it to one and they refused again.

    Zero help, for the most part.

    How you move without phone?  You can't even book the next ferry, flight or hotel!  Thanks for nothing, Sony - less than 6 month old phone.

    In my desperation, I bought another phone (Samsung) from Amazon and they sent him to my place.  Thanks for the help, Amazon!

    I sent my 360 in SBE for a warranty repair. It is a cracked back. I was followed its course on the SBE website. Everything seems to be OK, if you exclude the shocking lack of any form of communication of SBE or Motorola. But today a message and a photo were added that I am confused/concerned everything.

    It appeared a BER photography. The photo is my receipt I sent as requested.

    I'm assuming that the BER means its beyond repair? What happens now? The watch will be replaced?

    I hope someone can shed some light for me.

    Really, just a little doubt. I bought my Toshiba Satellite Pro some time in early July 2008. Since then, I had two repairs guaranteed made in this regard. Since the second repair the socket where you plug the AC charger into the laptop itself has come loose.     Obviously, that my warranty of one year has elapsed, I am not eligible for free repairs on this subject. However, I was wondering if anyone knows how long repairs are guaranteed. It is 30 days or 90 days or what? I'm a little less the impression that this damage had occurred as a result of the last repair and I would be interested to know if I get another free repair.

    I also think that you gat 90 days warranty on parts replaced, but you should contact ASP and explain the situation.
    Be cool and talk with them about the normal way, not to mention any tension.

    Friend of mine had the similar problem and after the conversation with the technicians, they contacted Toshiba Toshiba approved free repair. So, if it is serious problem try again enlighten with ASP.

    Holiday, a member of the hotel staff accidentally poured water on my iPhone 6. The hotel agreed to reimburse me for to repair the screen includes Misty and it will not load. My phone is covered by the AppleCare + 9 months and a claim, he left. In view of the hotel are ready to fully pay for the repair, I prefer not to use my AC claim + remaining for this repair (and I suspect it is replaced rather than repaired).
