Hello!

T61 7664 - 18G + ST9500420ASG:

It will work or not?

Thank you!

PS: Yes, it's a short message, who cares?

well, when I used the Seagate drive with the G-Force on the T61 sensor, he did not interfere with the onboard accelerometer.

My current T61, I love, suggests to me that maybe it's go south one day (a long 2 short beeps which so far I got since).
It looks like my cheapest option and happy would be a use or renovated T61 since I can move my DPS and 8 GB of Ram and Windows 7 CD install and Office 2010 CD install on it.

I see those used/given to nine for sale on Amazon and would like the input of this forum on the sellers, blah blah blah.
This forum has been so helpful to me over the years.

I saw Tampa portable computers that have a side of big sale a T60. Is - too much different than a T61 and can move my stuff him?

    Faithfully standing.

    Hey thanks.
I ran this route and ended up buying a T61p in Tampa all. There were several reviews on Amazon praising. So I saw no T61 in their inventory from Amazon so I sent and they go for me with 3 choices.

This is the first email I got from them:

  • External hard drive (Seagate) not readable after the ejection using Thunderbolt cable

Not sure where this question fits as this seems to be a Thunderbolt cable problem but here goes...

I have 4 TB Seagate Backup Plus external drives for archiving with two drives - backup A and B backup - and two interfaces, a basis of love at first sight and a standard basis of USB3.

Using the basis of love at first sight that I backed up to 1.5 TB of data on a Mac logged to A disk and ejected from backup format. When I reassembled A backup to verify the data Finder says the drive is not a recognizable car and I had to reformat. I thought that I must have crashed head or something like the disc was still running when I pulled it off the base of love at first sight. When I got tired to reformat the drive in disk utility only 500 GB of the 4TB were available for formatting, so I thought that I've certainly got to have damaged it.

Then I saved my 1.5 TB of data to a second drive Seagate Backup Plus (backup B) but when I eject this drive (this time I waited to stop and pulled the power over the base before you remove the disk) and then lift the drive that the same error came in the Finder. Suspecting it was the Thunderbolt interface I swapped backup to the base of the USB3 B and all the data is there! I checked A backup and even if she had to be reformatted this time all the 4 TB of capacity was available.

I also have a Rugged Lacie 2 TB drive with a Firewire interface and it seems to work just fine so maybe the Thunderbolt Apple cable or Seagate sight base. I don't have a second Thunderbolt cable to test with at the moment.

As a secondary issue readers are not run down after eject either. The heads are parked, but readers continue so I have to pull the power and wait that it happen down before I can remove basic USB3 disks or love at first sight. This problem, even if it's embarrassing, I can live with. In the foreseeable future I'll use the basis of the USB3.

Everyone knows about this problem before? It sounds really weird.

I can only give you my opinion of WD boxes and I'm afraid that's not good. My experience with WD boxes have always been bad. My suggestion is to try another TB cable and see if that's it, if not then try to connect another device to your iMac Thunderbolt and test to see if it is the iMac, which I doubt it is. If this isn't the cable or the iMac, then you know that it's the condom. If the disks are recoverable from the speaker, remove them and get a TB of high-quality speaker. My vote goes to OWC (www.macworld.com) pregnant Thunderbolt.

  • Seagate crush will not be displayed in my iMac

I'm under El Capitan on my iMac mid-2010. I tried plugin, a new brand Seagate 1 TB external hard drive of love at first sight with the Thunderbolt adapter. I checked all buttons in the Finder. It is not just sewing for light or recognize on the iMac. What else can I try?

Your 2010 iMac doesn't have a Thunderbolt port. It has a port Minidisplay which looks the same, but differs by electronic means. Love at first sight drive does not work on your iMac as you discover.

  • T61 Wireless does not not after installing updates of wireless and electric management

Few days back I have updated my T61 (via ThinkVantage - update my system) and there was 2 updates related to:

    (1) wireless

    (2) power management.

Since the update, my wireless is not working. I tried to uninstall and install the wireless driver. I have created a new home network, but nothing helped. Radio off and on. Ethernet connection works fine

Wireless adapter is: Wifilink Intel 4965AGN

OS is Win XP with SP3

Was wondering if anyone else has experienced similar problem.

    Thank you

    Harish

Thank you all for the responses.

After trying various combinations, below think fixed my problem

    1. on my DLink router, change the level of security WPA2 only (previously the WPA2-PSK)

    2. then I changed the setting wireless on my T61 such that Windows would be Manager wireless

It seems that the question was a tug of war between Lenovo and Windows tries to manage wireless.

Its been 8 hours now and I do not see the symptoms so far.

    Thanks again.

  • T61 screen became ballistic, now red and green.

I upgraded my xp pro to 7pro t61. read all the articles and I don't want to read about external sites and lenovo. I installed all the updates and Device Manager was perfect without any problem. There were originally, but lenovo community, I was able to fix everything.

Today, I got an ssd crucial m500 with 240gig. I was looking upward on u-tube and the lenovo site to make sure that I installed the new SSD correctly. just before my last article, the screen became lucky. red lines up and down the screen. I turned off the computer and then rebooted (hard coded with button / stop). the screnn has the same at the start and played the usual startup sound. I have attached an external monitor and the same result.

I read that the nvidia I have is a problem and, eventually, the card mother. I bought this new (t61 7662 cto) and love it. I like to keep this unit... it is a work horse. any suggestions... Thank you

I've never had a problem before and I'm very careful with the unit, not abusive.

    Welcome to the forum!

I'm sorry to say that your T61 is another victim of the infamous "nVidia bug". A replacement motherboard will be necessary.

    Good luck.

  • 2 revolutionary war does not not on Windows 7 (graphic corruption)

I just installed the game 2 war of independence (which is a game of 2001) on Windows 7. He used to work on XP, and it does not work until the main menu of windows 7. However, at the time of entry in the physical game (i.e. using the graphics engine of the game), much graphical corruption occurs and the game hangs and I have to use the Task Manager to close. He once gave me the BSOD also. All my other games (the most recent including red faction guerrilla, crysis, farcry 2) everything works perfectly. I suspect it could be cos its an old game, so it could be the graphics driver that I need to roll back or even windows 7. I need to know if anyone has this problem and if they have found a solution for it.

I have a Core i7 with a Palit Geforce GTX 275 and 2 GB of RAM Corsair DDR 3. I read a lot of cases where people are playing this game on Windows 7 without any problem. Please let know us if you want more details to help me with this problem I really love this game, but I also like Windows 7.

    Dexter83,
If you have updated your driver graphic and tried the game in compatibility mode so it's not much else you can do.  Game developers (if he's still around) will have to create a hotfix or an update for the game.  You can check the forum I-war2 on the Atari website.  They may have more specific information about the do work with WIndows 7. • Compatible HDD with T61

    Hello

I recently updgraded old T61 with a Sandisk 128 gb SSD (model 'MORE').

It worked perfectly for about a month when the error "2100: hdd0 initialization error" started to happen at every boot. As my mother's computer, I was able to check a few things at a distance, it may be a connection problem or something simple...

But in any case, from what I've read, it's most probably an incompatibility with the SSD, so I wanted to know if there are some drives that are compatible with certainty, preferably not as old as the laptop itself (so other than those originally shipped with it). I installed the BIOS middleton on the laptop.

I really don't care about the storage capacity, 7200 RPM would be ideal however.

    Thanks for help you !

    Gaetan

    > Also what a laptop computer side hardware problem?

I guess it could be. One way to confirm this is to mount the SSD existing in another PC, in a standard drive or through a USB enclosure Bay. I know it's difficult because the T61 is located some distance away.

    > are recommended where the models or brands?

Any name brand like Hitachi, Seagate or Western Digital should work. All drives in a few years operate at faster speeds of the interface (SATA III 6 Gb/s) the T61 is designed for (SATA-I 1.5 Gbps.) The SATA interface is backward compatible, so there is no problem using a SATA-III with a host SATA drive. I put a new hard drives and SSD in * 61-generation ThinkPads with no problems.

  • I love my X220i!

I was intending to buy it for 2 months. It was actually really cheap with the student discount (had to leave ship it. In Poland, the cheapest version costs more than i7 + IPS United States...). There since yesterday.

ITS JUST PERFECT AND I LOVE IT.

Although there are a few minor issues:

-screen is a bit grainy (easy to see on white colorts),

-Touchpad/trackpoint are not cooperate as well. If I use the trackpoint buttons or trackpoint himself, touchpad stops working during a second Hopefuly this minor problem will be fixed. Another I like two tracking devices,
-I think that this extractor fan (hope that's the right word lol), it is a bit misplaced. Should be like 0, 5cm lower, because I can see the pipe cooling of the Chile. But temperatures are good (40-50 idle, load max 75 with prime95/SC2), so no need to bother with it I guess.

Many people complain about the quality of construction, noisy fan or high temperatures. My X220i doesn't have these issues.

    Congratulations on your new X220i!

Here's a quick thing on the touchpad (question comes up a lot and I don't want to type the answer everytime)

  • T61 7659-ac5 refuses to power on

    Hello

This is my first time to post in this forum. I bought a used t61 7659-ac5, I got it without a sata drive. Experienced on linux mint for now all looking for a decent used sata drive. Ran memory tests and downloaded updates, downloaded games to take the time and trouble on linux. honestly, it was a unique and enjoyable experience using Mint. the other day I started, thinkpad screen is appeared, but after a while, I see no more linux desktop... the screen is empty. power remained. then I tried to power cycle it.

    light in order

    1 batt / AC

    2 batt / AC

    3 capslock / numlock / power

    4... then nothing...

everytime I push the power button these lights on nothing... no thinkpad splash screen.

tried the second lifting 30 - no luck.

tried to remove all the accessories, card wifi-bluetooth-dvd player - nothing

tried to remove 1 dimm, tried to rotate it even... nothing

but when 2 DIMM removed: the two indicators of power/batt lights then = beep, 3 beeps, 3 beeps, beeps then more nothing... power/batt stays always on!

    any ideas or suggestions?

my intel GPU is at fault? are both my favorite DIMM?

    Thanks in advance

    Mike

    for reference:

Hi guys... I do not know you are doing the thing. the thing is still alive! have ran memtest at least 6 passes - without error. fan swirls as it should.

"My methods seem unorthodox, but I think it's the beginning of the operation of a"franken-Pad"!

1 removed the black plastic to every part of the motherboard... including the GPU intel. I know it is anti-static protection, but since we live in Manila where the moisture is very abundant, stray static is not really a problem. while removing the black plastic, I discovered a lot of particles, like a person adding the seasoning of a dish... and a lot of it in some places. I was able to deduce that the previous love eating snacks.

    2. carefully brushed all parties that the eye can see. hope that I haven't missed an important area.

    3. some inductor soldering looked Brown and crusty. so with a little help from one with a soldering iron and solder the fuse (and Brazing Paste) to remove and appy new welding at the questionable joints. It is not a pretty thing to look at from the point of view of the engineer a process but I did my best to weld it decently.

    4. the reassembly. the thing has not worked in the first round. the pump PATA and hold for 30-seconds finally brought alive.

Thank you guys for the ideas and methods of troubleshooting! Hopefully this one will not anytime soon through rough seas.

Tuus, where this one goes, I'll seek help of a replacement system card... If the budget allows.

    Thank you all!

  • T61 646501U passed by the HADES technician

I live here in Florida, as a student in full-time. I received this ThinkPad T61 in Dec ' 07 in replacement. It is of course still under the 3 year on site warranty. I babied this thing that I love it and it looks like still brand new. About a week before, I had called and replaced the hinges due to the oscillation of the screen. The technician that came out replaced hinges, but left me with a broken screen bezel. The right side of it (looking at the LCD when using) flapped and so was very loose and being not completely attached as well as the scope of coverage, leaving a nice size. I called only to Lenovo support and they sent me a new lcd cover kit. The same technician very is out, his opening upward, a group of tabs is fallen out of it as they were broken and replaced by the new plastic kit. I thought that I was with him and was actually very happy again, but yet again, I was disappointed. Went from a 1/2 inch point appear on my screen on the lower left part and as its worse and worse as time goes by, my LCD itself is a big white blur of colors and Rainbow. As if the technician pressed too hard on the screen itself while removong the caches when the cover is replaced. Only the first 2 inches, if that, are viewable, making this useless device and prevent me from my school work. I called Lenovo technical support once again, and they address a new LCD and should be at least 1 Tuesday. I know that the technician of a company called QualXServ, and I was wondering if there is LENOVO technicians in my area who can come here to replace this screen. I'm in Melbourne, Florida. I think as Qual X Serv handles warranty work Lenovo here I doubt that there are technicians of Lenovo. Someone at - it any insight or advice? Thank you

I've included a link to a picture of what my screen looks like now like QQ

    http://img692.imageshack.us/img692/8430/dsci0073.jpg

    Omays4430,

By the image, it seems that the LCD screen is cracked and there is a pressure point to the bottom of the screen, hence all the cracks appear to emenate.   If the technician on site agrees that it was his fault and he has ordered parts and undertakes to repair under warranty, then I suggest that you let try to replace it.

If you can send me a PM with the number of service records, I'll see what we can do on the availability of the part.  Automatic out of stock messages are automated - I got myself and had the part appear the next day.

    Best regards

    Mark

  • Replacement LCD for T61 options

    Hello Lenovo community,

The first post, but several times here.

I have a backlight bulb which is grilled (literally blackened at the end). I got my whole screen replaced 4 months ago so first guess (because it was easy & cheap) it was just the inverter card, but no. Because it was the holidays, I dropped the laptop with a tech who said that he order a bulb and just replace it. I had the computer laptop back today (9 days later) and technology, said the bulb was bad - just 1/2 of the screen lights up :-(. Because I need files on the computer for work, I found a cable and a monitor cheap on craigslist and am happily working at home on my T61 - via and very nice, very large external monitor.

I would replace my laptop screen so I can be mobile again, but I can't find what I think it's the correct LCD on the agenda. I have a T61-7662CTO.   My original receipt shows the screen being 42 x 1670, but that doesn't seem like a number that relates to the FRU part to order a replacement.  I downloaded the manual and there were 7 FRU (and AUO, 3 LGs, Samsung 3) listed. Are some of these 7 compatible with my T61? And is there one out there that is 'better' and by better, I mean more sustainable.  I have to say that I love my Lenovo, in part b/c looks like a beast that is outdated, it's perfect, but I abuse outside the field (for going on 4 years now) and it just continues to run.    I would also say in my life - commitment live a little lighter on the Earth, I don't want to buy a new laptop for Aspire as I can keep replacement/upgrade parts in this little lady.

Someone knows about the replacement screen for this machine, and better yet, does anyone have one around the pose I could buy and recycle in this T61?

A big thank you in advance, community,

    Sharon

p.s. I also live and work in the middle of nowhere, it's often faster to me repair my own property, so I do this project at home...

BTW, a search on the serial number you posted shows that your system came with FRU # 42 T 0410. In my opinion, it's the base, not the wxga WXGA screen + optional, but either will work.

Also, to echo what I said you private, used a good cover for this model would sell for $50-100, depending on the model and replacement of the status screen, which is cheaper, easier, and probably more reliable then your typical generic LCD which (as you discovered), often are not the same quality as the originals...

I would also add that your system seems to have the optional T9300 Penryn CPU, making it a very nice system... several of them have a cpu of myself and really worth to fix it.

  • I want to install the Commander of the force star wars on my new PC, but says it is not compatible with windows 64-bit. I try the windows XP mode and it tells me that I need to connect a hardware device 3D

I want to install the Commander of the force star wars on my new PC, but says it is not compatible with windows 64-bit. I have try on windows XP mode and it tells me that I need to connect a hardware 3D device. I really love the game and I want to use it again.

Any old copy of Windows XP that could be installed in the host system? If you do not, it should be available at a modest price of an online seller. Perhaps (I'm not too), even an old Windows 98 TO work. The game (using a 3D engine) will not work under pure DOS, so you need a Windows environment so that it can work. Just FYI: If you get this old classic to run, new issues may arise. Known are the "mss32.dll" runtime error (you may need to replace this file with the newer version of SW:KOTOR 1) and the issue of video cutscenes (the games uses an obsolete video codec, Smacker - either you find an old *.) DLLS for it or have you convert movies in a modern format).

In conclusion: get old games to run on software/hardware modern (it is not only a problem of BONE) is one of the most fascinating and rewarding challenges to a real fan. But do not expect it will not be easy "out of the box" (or simply insert a CD).

  • Own too fast and silent T61 shortcut key Win 7 install DVD towers way not working - please help!

Then... covers the subject well enough.  Reinstall the thinkvantage tool box, Manager of food, ultranav, fingerprint reader, update utility and drivers webcam (don't know if this works-am download Skype now to check).  I am impressed with the speed, but other than the DVD spinning at mach 10 & the mute button (love that touches at the meetings) being disabled, I'm happy.  Any question or help would be really appreciated-thank you!

    Hello

Have you installed the software ThinkVantage Hotkey features , as well as the Chipset Intel Software?  If so, this ones did change things?  Also, have you checked to see if there are options to performance of the DVD drive on the T61 BIOS which can be displayed/hidden?

  • Error code 28: could not find the drivers. Windows 7 64 bit could not find the drivers for my Seagate Expansion Portable Drive. The same system works for another 32-bit version of windows 7.

Hi, I would be grateful for help on this, I bought a new seagate expansion external hard drive not too long ago (abt 3 months old) and tried to use the device only recently (to back up my files). Windows has detected the drive but says that it could not find the drivers. (code 28)

When I tried the drive on a 32-bit computer, it showed up working find and dandy. When it is plugged in the computer of the alien-ware, same error.
Tried the uninstall from Device Manager and restart the computer, still the same error.
Services.msc open and found windows install offshore. He turned on automatic, but the same error came out. Plug and play Windows was already working.
Checked Windows SP1 worked, still the same error.
    He got me completely baffled.
Before this, I had other problems with USB and disabled driver signature Verifier (I think that's what it was called) before you boot into windows. Worked very well for my flash drives each time that I did.
I also had another external HARD drive which was held only 160G and it worked, so I'm not sure what the problem is with this particular external hard drive.
Please help, I'm going crazy on this problem...

The specifications of my devices are as follows:
    Computer
    Model:
    Alienware M14x
    Type of system:
