T61p evolution options

Hello

I bought a T61p in 2008 and it has been running very slow for some time, especially the start-up took about 10 minutes and my Office crash applications constantly. Yesterday, I finally took the time to reinstall Windows Vista. Now, it's faster but still too slow in my opinion.

I am in doubt whether to buy a new computer or try to make some improvements to my T61p. Because it's a pretty decent machine, I decided to keep it, and now I'm looking at ways to improve performance.

I think the following things:

Replace the hard drive with an SSD.

Upgrade to Windows 8.

When I ordered the machine in 2008 I wanted to have the Turbo Boost or anything called installed internally, but something went wrong in the order, so it was not installed. Is it possible to install myself, and it is worth?

In general, if you have any ideas on how to improve the performance, I'd buy some.

If it comes to SSD, what (about 160 to 250 GB) SSD that you would recommend? Please, not too expensive... :-)

Does it matter if I update my Windows or is it better to do a full install? It seems much cheaper to simply upgrade, but I'm a little worried that I have see my existing Vista inefficiencies. If you upgrade, do I use a cool reinstalled Vista, or should I download tons of upgrades to Vista before moving on to 8? And can I upgrade Windows on my existing hard drive and transfer it to the SSD, or in what order should I do?

It's a T61p, Intel Core 2, T9300 2.5 GHz, 3.0 RAM 32-bit operating system.

Thank you very much for your help!

Stephan

Before you spend any money on the hardware upgrades, I would say a cleaning base HARD drive to get rid of old stuff that slows down its operation for example

1 use CCleaner to remove temporary files

2. use Windows Explorer to find the largest files on your HARD drive and then delete those you don't need

3. use cleaning of Windows disk to remove everything, but the most recent restore point Windows

4 remove the old files of updating installed Windows Windows/C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution/download

More detailed information on these are available in the help Windows and via Google. If you do not have this kind of operation for many years, so you can easily grab several GB of space "death."

Don't forget to do a full disk backup of your HARD drive before you do, especially if you've never done before.

After you are all done, do a defrag of Windows to revamp/optimize the structure of files and set up on your HARD drive. This last step can take several hours, so run it from one day to the next.

You should see a significant improvement in performance.

If it is still not fast enough you should consider improvements such as SSD and 8 GB of RAM (64-bit OS upgrade), however, the cost of doing all this brings the cost of a new laptop computer.

    I recently got a HP Probook 650 G2.

I 'wanted' the Probook for her one of the last phones built with serial port RS-232 'real' on board.

I also wanted a quad core processor and would never have dreamed that a modern range high processor would double heart.

BUT... I was surprised that the Core i7 laptop 6600U my new computer processor is only has TWO CŒURS and the cache 4megs.

    Ugh!

That's when I remembered that ASSUMES is synonymous of...

Then, when I went to the site of HP to check and sure enough, all i3, i5, and i7 is all dual-core.

The only exception was the 6820HQ i7, which is a quad core processor, 8megs of the cache and features of the integrated Intel HD Graphics 530.

I don't know how much better the Intel HD Graphics 530 on Intel HD Graphics 520 which came with my unit.

Can a person spend power sipping dual core i7 in a muscle stronger, bending, gulping, four hearts, 8 power + megs of processor cache?

See p. 24 of the manual here.

    Manual

See the long list of motherboards, each of which includes a processor? You asked if the processor is nested? No, it's not and it's the end of the upgrade quest, unless you traded the motherboard. I guess just the motherboard with i7-6820HQ is going to be well over $ 1000. How about almost $1500?

High modern processors of range, especially in laptops, must also take account of energy consumption. Of course, a Quad Core Skylake will be still more than a beast. Video Intel 530 is a minor improvement on the 520 to the execution units, speed of clock and gflops as shown below:

The graphics of the Iris is where it begins to be significantly better.

If find you a way to talk to the boss into something again consider the Zbook G3 series. It can be fitted with up to a Quad-Core Xeon, but even those that are welded on. It seems to be the trend. I think that power management got so delicate that it is difficult to prevent the loss of power by any sort of a processor of half-bridge and everything should be as thin as possible for consumers, even cell phones from the muscle work station.

  • Lenovo IdeaPad Y400 evolution Options

    Hello

I plan to buy a Lenovo IdeaPad Y400 in the coming days.

The shop I bought it from has the following characteristics:

    i7-3630QM

    -Windows 8

    -8 GB DDR3 1600 MHz RAM

-1 TB SATA HDD (5400 RPM)

    Modular DVD drive

    -NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M 2 GB GDDR5

I noticed that the HARD drive is certainly going to be too slow for me, and I therefore intend to improve, among other things.

I will be performing the following improvements:

    -Windows 8 Pro

    -16 GB of RAM (DDR3 1600 MHz CL11 Crucial 8 GB x 2)

    -M4 CRUCIAL 128 GB MSATA

-WD 2.5 "SATA 7200 RPM 16 MB black 750 GB

My upgrade plan works with the Y400?

    Thank you.

    Hello
The upgrade of the operating system will not be a problem. However, this could ruin a key recovery.
The specification of the ram is the same that mentions critical, then ram won't be a problem either
The msata must fit and hard drive would also not much of a problem,

  • Studio 8 and academic full version Web standard Suite - support contradictory Adobe

I have received contradictory information Adobe and that after they sent my purchase and I just got it today in the mail.

I have the 8 commercial Studio home.

I bought the full version academic CS4 Web Standard. (it was cheaper, then upgrading commercial of the Studio 8 suite CS4 Web Standard and same phone Adobe customer suggested me to do).

Before I bought it, I asked by phone with the service the customer

-Improve opportunities: Adobe confirmed as follows:

(commercial) upgrading from Studio 8 for CS4 Web standard Suite

    or

° full academic version of the suite CS4 Web Standard (as the school store has no upgrade)

    or

    (a) in the case where I don't want Dreamweaver (one is not the fires of artifice and Flash) then I need to buy a full version of the stand-alone CS4 Dreamweaver

-the possibility to always be able to use both versions (old and new)

Telephone support Adobe confirmed also that Studio 8 versions and the Suite CS4 Web standard can be installed on the same desktop and I could keep on using Studio 8 so.

In any case the Adobe phone customer service advised me to purchase the full Version of Acadamic of CS4 Web Standard as then I have the new version of all my programs from Studio 8 for a better price.  In addition they confirmed to me that later I could upgrade this academic version via the commercial shop if there must be a CS5 or so.

Some of you on this forum even told me about the update of Studio 8

As advised on this forum to check I launched the same question on 27/5 to the Adobe customer portal on the internet and received only today (15 days later) a response that is in contradiction with what the customer service Adobe told me on the phone.

Now they say that an update of Studio 8 is not possible at all, and I can only use a single booth of Dreamweaver CS4 version.

And that versions Studio 8 and Dreamweaver CS4 / CS4 Web Standard cannot be used on the same computer. I need to uninstall the old version.

On the Adobe Web site, you can even click on a link to show you the commercial evolution options from Studio 8 and CS4 Web Standard Suite is one of them.

Now the customer portal has totally misunderstood my question or telephone customer service me misinformed.

But with this contradictory info and my shipment received, I'm full of doubts about the news from Adobe.

Can someone help to put the light in this darkness?

    Thank you very much

    Martine

You said a lot here and I think I understand all that, so I'll try to help you as best I can.

Regarding the passing of Macromedia 8 to CS4, you can upgrade if you have a 8 commercial license.  You cannot switch to Dreamweaver just because Adobe policy says that you can only pass a suite to a suite as well as a program or a program or suite.

To answer the part about whether or not you can have both installed on the same computer, the answer is Yes.  But you cannot use both at the same time due to shared resources.

I hope that answers your questions.

  • evolution X200t WWAN options

    Hi all

I have an x 200 tablet which is "extensible" for his WWAN option. I want to use the machine internationally with a variety of groups and am interested in Qualcomm GOBI solutions. My questions:

    (1) is the default map of 1000 GOBI (57Y4485 here), my only option? The new maps of GOBI 2000, being much richer in features and compatibility (such as 78Y1399, here) are supposed to work with x100e / x * 10 series, but features the same connectors. Can someone check to see that it actually works/doesn't? It's the BIOS the most recent map of locking out on x 200, x200t, T400, other latest generation Thinkpads?

    (2) the question of whether I get the desert of GOBI 1000 or 2000, I was able to use WWAN with suppliers other than Verizon / AT & T? The maps, although it is near - universally compatible with standard GOBI desert, are locked to these two providers? It will be very useful if I can make sure that the function can actually be used when abroad.

    Thank you very much!

For the X 200 tablet, map of 1000 GOBI is the quialified.

Map of GOBI is not locked in and of itself to a provider.  By default, it will connect to Verizon.  By adding a SIM card, you can connect to that provider by choosing the international connection.  In terms of suppliers non - SIM as Sprint, I have not any advice.

  • Creative evolution Cloud option membership photography only

    Hello

I noticed that Adobe is about to offer an option photography for only $9.99 / month.  I recently renewed my subscription CC at full price ($ 49.99 / month), but just Photoshop and Lightroom.  Can I change my subscription CC to be just the photography option?

    Hi Jim5926

If you have an earlier version of Photoshop/Photoshop Extended CS3 standalone commercial - CS6, you will be able to get this offer as soon as it is available.  See the FAQ for more details: http://www.adobe.com/products/creativecloud/faq.html#pslr-bundle

  • Evolution of systems.  What are my options?

I'm planing on the change from a PC to a Mac. Can I download the version of CS5 Mac and use my old windows

CS5 is dependent on the OS.  You must upgrade to CS6 for Mac.  Another option is to use the Cloud membership as it is not dependent on the OS.

  • Options of evolution after 1 year of cloud CS6

    Hello

I currently have CS5.5 Web Premium.

My understanding is that I can get

    (option 1) CS6 Web Premium for $375

    or

(option 2) Adobe Creative cloud for one year for $359,88.

Let me state at the outset that I have not need, or want the rest of the CS apps, nor the cloud storage.

After one year with option 1, I'm in a stable situation. If CS6.5 comes out, I can choose whether or not to upgrade. And if the past is any indication, this upgrade would probably be about $375.

After a year, with option 2, the next year would be $599,88.

So here's my question, if I have to cancel Adobe Creative cloud after the first year, which would be my upgrade for CS6.5 price?

Or rather, here's the question: is there a way to upgrade subscription for the free subscription?

    Thank you.

    Hi TigerKR,

Sorry for the delay. Currently, I am unaware of any upgrade of the reduction at the subscription long-term in perpetual change. This does not mean that the option will not be available, rather than the info on this are currently not available. Although a little more expensive, my recommendation if you're on the fence, maybe just try the monthly option of the creative cloud, he would give you the opportunity to try it to see if you like it with the long term commitment.

  • Evolution M17x - R3 Graphics Card options?

Hi all, I know that this question was put to death, little but here goes.

    M17X R3 | GTX560M | 120 MHz screen | 16 GB OF RAM. I7 2720QM | SSD + HDD

I want to upgrade the graphics card (previously I had made the gesture of upgrade to a 580 M but unfortunately this card does not have), but as graphics cards are expensive for already outdated tech I have a few thoughts on what is my best bang for buck upgrade?

I see that it is possible to go all the way up to a GTX 880 M but it is very expensive, and being such a relatively powerful card the rest of the laptop will be able to stay with her? or the card is going to be greatly bottleneck?

What do you think would be a decent upgrade on the current GTX 560 M without breaking the Bank?

I look forward to hearing your ideas, especially if you are a person who made this upgrade!

    Thank you very much

    Hello

Officially, it will go up to a 580 M, unofficially it could go up to 880 M (but I wouldn't recommend it due to overheating). Other that that, you can go up to 780 M, but we cannot guarantee that performance will not be affected by your processor (bottleneck).

  • NB100 - how MSN works with evolution

Hi, I'm trying to retrieve messages from evolution to download my msn.com e-mail account but one of the first questions is the type of server.

I had this problem to download on my desktop (Windows) and msn sent me some instructions I've now lost, all I can remember is that I had to change the pop3 to HTTP but HTTP server did not come on the options so I'm lost.

I also use Ubuntu Linux on a Toshiba NB100.
