Perhaps, it is an extension/plugin slowing your Firefox.

  • Cannot find taskmanager

Hey guyss! Sorry for my bad English.

So I have a HP Pavilion dv7-7002ed Entertainment windows 7.

Problem of mines, is that I can not open the Taskmanager when I press ctr + alt + delete it is not on the list and when I press on the Task Manager in the taskbar can not press it. It is not a virus, because it is I have an anti-virus.

I downloaded SysinternalsSuite and I replaced the Taskmanager but dllhost.exe showed 2 seconds but she only blushed and disappears. I don't know what the problem is and yes I'm on the administrator user.

    Hello
Did you try and run Malwarebytes to clear your system? Could also be a potential Rootkit that is causing your issues. You can also download and run a program called "unmask" who will try to recover missing you Windows utilities.

    Hello
I have a system with Windows XP Professional (SP2) + McAfee Antivirus installed... After inserting my pen of friends drive, I can't able to access taskmanager (Mozila Firefox browser), my Antivirus (McAfee), dialog box run and prompt etc... But I can able to run MATLAB, SIMULINK. Safe mode with networking mode command prompt / safe as I can't access the task or the command prompt, the registry Manager... Please help me...

    Kind regards
    Ubabmar.

    Hello

    Method 1.
I suspect that it is a virus and I highly recommend to run a Scan of Virus online.

Sometimes the security program installed might not be fair enough. I also recommend you update your security software regularly.

    a. follow the link below to start the free online scan:
    http://OneCare.live.com/site/en-us/default.htm

    b. run the malware removal tool from Microsoft.

    Method 2.
Let us first start the sfc scan and check if there are any file system corruption.
    a. to do this, click Start, click programs, accessories principally made, right click Guest and then click Run as administrator. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password, or click on allow.
    b. type the following command and press ENTER:
    sfc/scannow
The sfc/scannow command. analyzes all protected system files and replaces incorrect versions with appropriate Microsoft versions.

More information on SFC scan found in this document:
Description of Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 System File Checker (Sfc.exe)

    Method 3.
If the problem persists, then create a new user profile and then copy your current users assigning to this profile. For more information, see:

  • TaskManager Probloms

so I opend my task manager because my CPU usage is 50% when nothing else was open, and I have 3 GB of memory. Then I opened it and it went directly to the taskbar as a thumbnail and would never open. I can go top and itll say 0% or 100% Cpu use and a small window with nothing on it stood and will not go away.  Normally, when my pc would go that high CPU usage I enter Taskmanger and end explorer.exe then start it again then it would be back to normal (3-6% CPU usage) but this time it didn't

Click Start - All Programs - Accessories - right on command prompt and choose run as administrator. Type Regedit and navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\TaskManager. Remove the key from the Task Manager .

original title: scanning for dell studio 1737 and recommended bios update

Hello, generally, I read until I have my answer, but I can't so I think I give it a try. Somehow I screwed things up with my computer. My main complaint is that I have something running that takes a lot of memory according to the Task Manager. My fan runs often, 1-1/2 minute stop time, pop up messages telling me to stop then reload IE9 sp2. I found some stuff on my event viewer, but I can't seem to cross the first error which is something on my bios. I go to the dell website to try to update with a flash of the bios but note comes up saying that my computer does not accept the flash. I have other issues in both event viewer, but can't remember them that I can't get beyond the the bios issue. The computer is a Dell Studio 1737 plenty of core duo memory 4 MB with plenty of space on hard drive and it seems to do well but all the * running in the background makes it run hot so the fan. All I want to do is get a scan for my installed bios system and install an updated version. I am not able to do at Dell. Maybe they want me to pay to support or something. I did all the FixIt of ms, I ran three different registry cleaners, I ran three viruses different scans, nothing. I've loaded my vista dell disk and tried to recover or repair and cannot do it either. I notice weird things with ie. I've done several downloads for versions 32 and 64 bit, to do the right thing. Maybe he has an it is to say the conflict or something. Whatever it is, I'm sure it's related to the fact that my computer takes 1-1/2 minutes to stop, even if it starts normally. I played with it for about a month now and I'm traps at all reading. If I can Flash my bios and get this update, maybe, I'll be able to get then some of the other things go. Here are some tips from the event viewer if anyone has any time for her. $ 1 million for any help thanks! If anyone knows where I can find a site that can digitize to my existing configuration and then recommend the installed updates. Oh, just in case anyone is wondering why I do not pay just for a few servieces for help me, or take it to a computer store, I don't have a job and can not afford it. Believe me. I have many errors saying: the embedded controller (EC) has failed in the specified time-out period. This may indicate that there is an error in the EC hardware or firmware or BIOS is accessing the EC incorrectly. You should check with the manufacturer of your computer for an updated BIOS. In some cases, this error may cause the computer to function properly. And The Office Source Engine service entered the stopped state. Service WinHTTP Web Proxy Auto - Discovery Service entered the running state. The Google Software Updater service entered the running state. The Google software update service entered the stopped state. A total of 60 errors in a single day, for weeks. Thanks again!

    Ok..

    The first task manager...

Open it and then click the CPU tab until the processes that use most of time processor are grouped at the top of the list.

The system idle process should be at the top and then maybe three points below that seem to take the time to processort.

Make a note of them and then look on the Internet that each fact or the program, application or process to which they are linked.

Forget the event viewer and any reference to it in the BIOS...

All the * running in the background will not cause it's running more hot so the fan. BUT, you can have installed something knowingly or perhaps inadvertently causing the CPU work all the time. Reference to what I said about the Task Manager. This is where you will find the cause most likely.

BIOS... How to download and install... taken directly from the Dell support site. No payment at ALL is required. BUT, you probably don't need to do and if you do, it should choose to do so, it should be performed using socket at a time when it will present no risk of a power failure...

Fact MS Fix - its for what exactly?

Use of registry cleaners will create more problems than they ever solve. You may well have created one of the issues by running a registry cleaner. Uninstall them as best as POSSIBLE...

Three viruses different scans? Without doubt completely uninstalled before the installation and execution of another? In addition, what av scanners?

Many downloads of 32 and 64 bits, what?

Your computer may take a long time to stop if an open e-mail program is defined on control too frequently, or if a backup utility is configured to check the differences between system and backup is too frequent. In addition, some gadgets can slow down to stop, and USB keys will cause Windows to ensure that there is no process to read/write that run to them before she stops them.

Flashing the BIOS is not and has never been the panacea for all the ills of the computer and won't solve ANYTHING in your case.

If you have upgraded from Vista...

Go to the Dell support site and downlaod driver and install any Windows 7 drivers for your machine other than BIOS. If you enter your number of service on this site...

    http://support.Dell.com/support/downloads/index.aspx?c=CA&CS=cadhs1&l=en&s=DHS

you will be presented only with the specific drivers for your machine.

This should eliminate the errors of the EC.

  • Disk defrag works not, taskmanager no opening, very slow downing load anything

I've had problems with my computer for a while now and I don't know what else to do now, I'm trying this.  I sent this computer in Bridge 2 times now and this looks at what could be the third if I can't get all the answers.  The problems I have been having always start when I first try to defrag my computer.  It takes forever to defragment. I started it at 09:00 and it was not yet done at 20:00. I finally stopped him at 21:00 and it just sitting there like it was stuck.  now my task manager does not open and I can't get this thing to download something, including the microsoft fixit tools.  I am very frustrated.  I downloaded all execept serivce Pack 2 updates and this thing is everything to date.  any help would be great.

Installation of the Service Pack 2 - that is where I would start. You say that you have downloaded all the updatesexcept this one, so with that one being later, it should correct a little (apart from a virus, etc.). An application that will help you realize what lack us isBelarc Advisor . I love it, because it produces a file html (on your own computer), and once it loads in your browser, you can print it out and have a list of all installed on your computer - and it includes what Microsoft Updates are installed and missing, with the version numbers for all of this. And it's free. :-)

I'll make sure that Windows Defender runs, as a bare minimum (I thought Windows Security Essentials, being in agreement, but I uninstalled it because it made my Vista boot slowly and returned to the Defender). Vista is quite safe, however. If you buy a commercial product, I recommend Kaspersky (I don't use it myself, because I download a lot and I'm careful, but my mother has it on his computer and she's in all Big Fish Games and so on and got a nasty on her own a bit... virus) Until Kasperky was installed and took care of that - now it catches everything (so far)).

Virus and others can make Windows run slowly. I've seen all kinds - some file after file replication, increasing the number and size of the files, the names of some really stealth and switching. But if it is not a virus that slows down your computer, it is really likely to be fragmented files. In this case, I would recommend Auslogics Disk Defrag . It's free and FAST.  You can defragment with a new and also OPTIMIZE files so that things run faster. Any defragger will take more time with the bigger hard drives. Windows Defrag takes too long. So doesn't the defragmenter in Advanced SystemCare 3(so uncheck the Defragmenter option if you run this, BUT I recommend highly this program because it will clean a lot of things for the better - remember do not check the boxes in the window popup resulting for the module of security... unless you know what you're doing , because not all these (Browser Helper Objects, etc.) are a problem. This program also includes a fixer shortcut, an application that allows you to see what programs are running at startup and much more. One of the best I've seen, and I used it for a few years now without a problem.

These last two linked above will go a long way toward acceleration and optimization of your system. I run these two first and then restart. SystemCare has three main sections of things that can be run - she is really well organized. It "takes the trash", in other words. :-) It will get rid of unwanted files and increase the speed and solve common registry problems (something I was initially uncertain about when I got it, but after a few years, it was no concern - it cleans things upwards, and unlike other programs of registry).

Another possibility: according to how you have set aside for virtual memory, if you get close to maxing out your hard disk space, you might find yourself in a situation where the computer is both need to write a lot on the drive and need more space, or space dedicated to virtual memory (I call it "the garbage area" where she must write and write about things older in this area) (as things are processed - this is temporary memory). Bottom line: If you are short on space and don't know what to do about virtual memory (and people use virtual memory to compensate for the fact that they do not have a lot of RAM |) Memory to play with), then let the system choose automatically the drive. To set it, you go to computer (aka My), right click and select Properties, and then when the system properties, click Advanced, then settings of Performance, then advanced once, then, virtual memory, select change. You can select automatic for ALL your drives, OR that the management system of the size for the selected drive. All readers do not have to have it, but whatever you select whether by car, it will create this sandbox of virtual memory paging on the same drive. Editing plan that will be used by the system to write things. Check the recommended size it compared to what is currently assigned. To play it safe, go with the recommended or let the system handle. Virtual memory can increase the speed and performance.

I hope that these things help with some of your speed issues.

(Note: the not not opening Task Manager, tells me that it might be a virus on your system, in which case you could look in these free programs:EMCO Maleware Destroyer andEmsisoft Anti-Malware (formerly A2 Squared) (full analysis is thorough and takes some time, but there is a quick analysis).) Lavasoft Adware, SpwareBlaster, Spybot Search & Destroy are also good.

  • No explorer.exe, no office, only taskmanager

I need serious help, please. I have a problem with explorer.exe running, and I have no office. Whenever I try to run explorer.exe from the Task Manager, I get the error "Windows Explorer has stopped working". The Task Manager are the only way to manage programs that do not stop for any reason any. And using regedit is the only way I can browse my files and computer records, but try to run explore itself does not work. I think that the two causes have contributed to this: updatng my windows vista sp1, and infection by the virus. I ran my antivirus programs several times during this week and a half of the period because my computer has lost the functionality of office and explorer.exe. But what is weird for me, is that as soon as my computer restarted to complete the sp1, I logged on to see these problems. And I searched the internet and forums, try to apply the methods that others have used to overcome their problems of black screen. I learned by making autoruns that there is an inscription that says no file not found: explorer .exe, but I checked that explore is in the windows directory before and after usage of autoruns. I also tried to use my vista repair disc and using the system restore but either my restore dates were not before my problems or windows cannot find any restore points. Tried to use sfc/scannow too, the first time I ran it it found problems, but not did me not how to fix it, the next time that I ran it there were no errors. I tried so many different solutions to try to fix this problem, but nothing worked so far. I'm even tries to reinstall windows, but I got the error install.wim. I think the single biggest problem is that some registry value is damaged because of my virus. It seems that I have more the virus well. I wish to obtain professional assistance from microsoft, but I'm willing to try any solution I have not applied. I checked my registry and found that ave.exe (which was probably my virus) has been included in several of my registry values. If anyone has any ideas on values may be corrupt registry help. However, reformat my system is not an option because I gigabytes of videos and music, and of course, I am not prepared to lose that, sorry. But I don't like too much for my programs. I plan buy-in to an external hard drive to back up my media up but I think I'd always meet problems do because I still be able to browse my computer and with explorer.exe does not, it would be virtually impossible.

    Hi oktbr26,

It is possible that your computer is still infected and worst case is that you have to reinstall Windows.  Try the troubleshooting steps in this thread, described by SpiritX, to remove the virus.

  • My double heart showing only 1 core taskmanager

How can I get my dual core processor to display in the Task Manager / serve. I currently have windows xp Pro and windows 7 and doesn't allow me to use the second kernel on my Pc how can I solve this. I tried a lot of forums and the solutions ect... and none have worked so far.

The first problem with getting your second CPU core of work is that it has one. The second problem is that "Hyperthreading" was developed by Intel for its Pentium processor. Indeed, it is a carrot act as two hearts giving multitasking capabilities. I'm not that familiar with AMD, so it is possible to also have a similar process to "Hyperthreading" which will give you multitasking by splitting the heart in two. I hope that this explanation is a not seem demeaning or offensive. But after reading it back to myself, I don't really know how else to phrase it. If it is a new processor, then maybe you can return it for an upgrade of a true multi-core CPU.

I suggest always back up your personal files, etc. before you try the following procedure.

Shut down the laptop.  Tap away at f10 you start Notepad to open the menu of the bios.  Under Advanced Options or diagnosis tab, you will find the possibility to run tests on the hard drive and memory.  Post back with the details of any error message.

If the criteria above, try the following.

In the Menu start, open the all programs, open accessories, right-click on command prompt and select "run as Administrator".  In at the prompt, type the following command and press ENTER.

sfc/scannow                (Note that there is a space between sfc and /)

Let the entire process, then the output type and press ENTER.

Then, click on the Start Menu, click computer, left click Local disk C once to highlight, right-click Local disk C and select Properties.  Click the Tools tab and then click on the button "check the drive for errors.  In the next window make sure that both boxes are checked, then click Start.  Right plan the audit on the next reboot of the system, and then restart the laptop - this process can take several hours before the load in Windows.

  • Win764 but TaskManager shows Lightroom32

I have my doubts that LR4 on my new pc win764 have perhaps never installed in the version 64 bit.

    How will I know?

I read somwhere, 64 must be maintained in the titelbar, witch, is not.

In addition, LR would be automatcaly install version 64 if pc is win764 (that I could do nothing to hurt)

In the tasmanager, LR running is called lightoom.exe * 32.

Is it not a proof of installation buged?

"System information" link in the menu of LR, said well that my machine is 64-bit architecture.

Thanks for telling me how to get to this subject (in which case I have to fix something)

    Follow these steps:

    * Uninstall Lr4 (32-bit version).

    * Reinstall, but instead run "Install Lightroom 4.exe", open "Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 4" folder and run "setup64.exe", if it's there. "" If she is not there, you have a bum install package.

setup64.exe can and will install only the Lr4 64 bit, regardless of bugs in the appropriate Installer (install Lightroom 4.exe).
