I'm new to computers and new for Windows 7.  When I download a program and try to run, then I get message this "temporary file write error. Make sure that your temp folder is valid"what should I do?

  • I just had a phone call from microsoft/windows technical help

    I feel so stupid that I fell for this but I don't

    so my not very different history of all these other... Indian guy asked all week saying he needed emergency talk to me on the serious malicious virus on my computer. He said it was from Microsoft technical and necessary support about half an hour of my time. I asked him to ring back several times because with young children, it was never the right time. Anyway, he called again this morning and I thought I had better address this issue as it sounded quite serious, it sounded very authentic for me and in my mind, I thought that somebody to call me every day this week, he must be who he is, he said.  so he took me through a website (I think it was logmein123) and asked me to enter a code and said that his colleague would then control my computer.  which she did, all the time the guy was on the end of the phone explaining what she was doing.  She presented as andrea williams from the Manchester direction! She then spent over the next 40 minutes on my computer. towards the end the guy says ok we have identified as you can see (I could see some sort of thing report on my computer at this point) we found quite a few mistakes - we can fix these for you. OK, I said. Andrea williams then says I have to download to your computer one of these options (it then lists the 4 different but recommend the 4th option at a cost of £289 I foolishly said okay.)  a form then appeared on my computer asking for my card details name address date of birth ect - what I have briefed (BTW im currently hitting my head on the table where I'm writing this at my stupidity!)  Fortunately my beautiful Bank was on the ball and refused a payment. This was the point that they have began to have a bit narky with me.  the guy said he was going to pass me to andrea from Manchester who would talk to me in person to try to settle this payment. me thinking that I was going to talk to someone with a manchester accent... don't be stupid... .i started talking to another very Indian lady who was very rude and very impatient with me. then she said to me (Yes told me) do to ring my Bank while it took place on the line to address this issue. It was then I thought no Ive has had enough and finally, alarm bells began to ring! (all right all right I recently had two children, you know)
    !). I told him that I would call the Bank later. reluctantly, she said ok, but said she'd call me in an hour - I said all that. It's then the strange thing happened - I tried to disconnect my computer, but it forced somehow back to and typed a message saying that please let me connected disconnect.  I typed a message and said you have learned to be pleasant and able to stop everything. then (the storys stops not here oh no) it sounds me only true to his word back an hour the second later. and said - have you talked to your bank. I said yes. What did say, she said. I said, that they said that you are a crook. at this point she just freaked out at me. told me that I needed psychiatric help. so I said, and you have to find a good job and stop robbing the people hard earned money there. then she said something quite scary. She said you wait awhile and just see what we are capable of... I hung up and then cause a chill went down my spine.
    Sorry to go on and give you every little detail but despite jokes he really shake me and I hope that warn you other people that these people are horrible and won't stop not stalking you until they get what they want, even when they have been rumbled. they have no scruples or even care about their effects on people.  They you in real, and they are completely credible.  After the call I informed fraud action (UK) the 03001232040 that gives you a reference of crime and pass information to the police. I was also advised to get a reputable company computer to look at the computer where they left any damage to the computer.
    can someone advise in the meantime if I need to do anything with regard to my computer, like most I'm now worried that they have endangered the security of my computer. also can they get on my computer once again without knowing me.

    Recommend you cancel card credit/financial accounts that could be in your computer and change all passwords and have you reformat/reinstall your operating system.

    Your computer and information (financial or other) must be considered as a compromise. You can uninstall everything related to logmein123 (which is a program legitimate and it is doubtful that the scammers could not back into your computer), but I wouldn't recommend that you even connect to the internet until it is reformatted.

    I have this camera and when I put a disc, it will not turn upward and just, the screen lights up and said 'CD' then 'restart' itselves and repeat this beaviour.

    Im a newbie in elecricial knowledge and I know how to do self service, although I can't find any information of what can be wrong with this, maybe the spindle motor? causing some type of short when initiazing the cd player and then restart?

    I love this camera and I'd like to keep a little longer and I see there is no support section on the site for this specific model, I guess this is legacy now then.
    No rule important break if I get some technical know-how of a shoring guy I hope!

    The only technical info topic, it provides for CD error means the disk itself. However you have probably tried with many store bought the audio CD and get the same problem. Have you tried a reset?

    I'm not sure weather its ther "inverter" or anything else... but the engineer told me that...

    I have a HP Pavilion lappy 1211-AX... I bought a stack of China made 12...

    now on the battery my screen begins to flickring and gets along with care makes the noise also (some courses like... in a light as tube)

    If the comp eng told me that the fault may be in the converter to display...

    but in the adapter power sector/display isn't ficker...

    so is it really the "inverter" problem or the battery...?

    and also

    battery does not load if cliberated...

    The threads say _ try to reinstall the latest driver of CCC _ try your support page or if it does not directly from AMD. Save the driver on the desktop and install from there, not in a temporary folder and don't forget to do an installation of the driver, just install it over your present.

    Also seems to be a problem with the power settings, go into power settings and choose not to have the display turn off on battery and plugged _ make sure that the display stays on all the time.

    To comply with all this trial and connect an external monitor with the battery and the adapter and run them both at the same time _ in the other threads were reported, Twinkle stopped.

    My personal opinion on it is that it doesn't seem to be the inverter, if it was that she would make him just the adapter so _ inverter problems occur when the battery is inserted.

    So I'm looking to buy a used HP Elitebook turn G1 810, works very well, but the BIOS was locked so it can't be tinkered with as it was a demo produced a password locked client. I read in the support page for the device, the preboot UEFA guidelines technical white paper, to launch the BIOS recovery Partition you should press and hold on all the arrow keys and press the power button. But as this seemed to be a widespread solution for "Netbooks" I was wondering if it would work. The only other solution is to Flash the BIOS, which I assume is the EEPROM chip, and I have no experience. Will it work and what are my options if it won't? I can take it to an HP service center?

    I would get the shop call hp while you there & see if they can provide a master password as otherwise it great pain & requires on-line expertise of writing of the bios chip or get replaced chip.

    The probooks EliteBook is a pain right when the lost bios password & for sure the store/seller is aware of this as so easy they would sort it before sale ;-)

    to be honest I wouldn't touch a demo because most serious uptime & make you near destruction sometimes.

    By new & only machines with minimum 2 years parts-work guarantee full 1 year warranty is without value & hp now he...

  • Technical help with theme Adobe Muse - security risk?

    I used a template/theme of Muse - themes.com get started on a website for a client and, yesterday, my free host email web client telling him that "in an analysis systematic server, we found the files that present a possible security risk, and these files must be removed immediately or this could result in a suspension of web service to complete elimination. We have placed the list of files in "blah blah blah" directory on your server. "Then, it almost seems like they threw a sales pitch for a piece of security software should I use to delete (with supplement of course). I found the file they were placed with a list of the compromise/malicious files and looked through them and I was wondering why these files were malicious and also what they would mean if I removed them, or how I could solve this problem in general. I copied and pasted from the list below... Thanks for your help in advance! EDIT: Looking at the files, it almost seems like these files are former designers wordpress web. Am I way off? Will it affect anything if I remove them?

    FWIW, none of these files are either produced or uploaded by Muse. They resemble files that would be part of a WordPress installation. Note the prefix "wp" on the issues concerned.

    Most likely the two files were already there when you bought your accommodation, they have been downloaded by you or someone using your account outside the Muse (using an FTP program), who was trying to install WordPress, or someone else has your username and password and using your account without your knowledge server.

    Do a check with some malware malware, analysis of programs on the Windows computer.

    You need to scan with all programs, because each program detects a different malicious program.

    Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before scanning.

    Alternatively, you can write a check for an infection rootkit TDSSKiller.

    To give the implementation Details pls find below and attached seizures of the show tech command.

    We have subscribed the service DSL and Singtel give us 2 addresses valid public IP that is 203.125.100.246 255.255.255.252.

    I used 203.125.100.246 for my external interface of my firewall pix and singtel assign 203.125.100.245 to the DSL router. In this case, we will only use PAT for internet connection.

    Currently he works very well our Mail Server is resided in the Singtel Office having the ip address of 165.21.111.22. Not work that we can receive and deliver electronic mail on the internet, and we can also surf the internet.

    Now we intend to put our mail in our own network server, because sometimes we encounter slowness on receiving and sending emails. Pls check on the IP address below

    Our LAN IP address is 192.168.1.X 255.255.255.0

    After doing it... I have loss all the internet connection, the email does not work... so I deleted immediately. because it causes network failure.

    Saw what it did not cause a failure of network or interruption. I thought that it will already work with the config, I keep it and this is the current config now... But when I change the POP and SMTP settings so that it points on 192.168.1.4 which is the new mail server on our LAN. his does not work.

    To this day, we are in a discussion with my boss or not possible to create a static mapping on our new mail server address 192.168.1.4 to 203.125.100.246 which is already assigned as external IP address and is used for PAT.

    I am puzzled, why this configuration does not for you. I have several clients who use a public ip address for external intf more than several other services that use this single ip address.

  • Adobe technical support - what a joke!

    I tried to get technical support for CAPTIVATE CS4 for about 4 hours only to switch to a person in INDIA who has absolutely no idea what I'm talking about and who can barely speak English. Then I was promised a call within 10 minutes, which never came, waited on hold for over 30 minutes, only to be disconnected, then finally got through again only to be hung!

    I am flabergasted that it is virtually IMPOSSIBLE to get technical help from anyone at ADOBE.  You can spend going literally around and around in circles on the Adobe website - you click on "Contact us" and it is another 50 questions!  Finally the folder where you started from!   I found a phone number to Sydney, which has diverted the Goons in INDIA!

    Software is awesome - customer support TOTALLY SUCK!

    I print the article in the knowledge base and make IT people if you use Windows Server 2003 or not.

  • Upgrade: series number nightmare ADOBE NO HELP

    I tried to upgrade to CS4 MX4

    Purchased serial number

    Downloaded the CS4 full version

    Put in the n serial

    THEN - don't request MX Series No that I put and will not accept

    It says contact customer

    RIGHT - have you tried!

    Without hope

    Going in circles - technical help shunt will return you to the customer service

    And guess what - the customer service don't answer

    I don't know if somebody got thru to ADOBE and had a sensible answer

    My advice is that if they can resolve this nightmare of activation - get another program and stay away from ADOBE

    Sorry, you have problems with the upgrade.  This is a user to user forum and Support Adobe can't hear you :-)

    I know that it is extremely frustrating and sympathize with your problem.

    Not sure if it offers any help, but it's the only thing that I could find in the technical notes.  If this does not help, I'm afaid, you don't use expected on Support Adobe.
